"After 50 years on Central Avenue, Asia Chow Mein announced on Facebook in late November that its last day of business will be Christmas Eve, December 24. Owners Timothy and Winnie Ng, who first opened the restaurant in 1972, wrote a heartfelt goodbye to their customers, explaining that pandemic-related challenges have made it too difficult for them to carry on." - Justine Jones

Well THAT was a pleasant surprise. For me, Chinese restaurants have been a hit or miss proposition — generally miss. But Asia Chow Mein hit this one out of the ball park! Things started out very well — I was warmly greeted right away with a smile, offered water and a menu, and was helpful in helping narrow down the choices in their excessively long menu. Never was I kept waiting and they were quite attentive to my needs. I had the lunch special Kung Pao Beef with Wonton Soup and an egg roll as an appetizer. EVERYTHING was fresh — not one hint of old, reheated food, or soggy vegetables. All of the vegetables were crisp, flavorful, and freshly prepared. It was real, freshly prepared chicken (it’s sad that I even have to say this in my reviews) and the whole ensemble was simply delightful. The flavors were slightly unique, like they have their own spin on things and were prepared with care. It’s definitely a place to add to your list of restaurants to hit up. I’ll definitely be back. My only complaints — and they’re REALLY minor and not worth penalizing them on: • the Kung Pao sauce was either not thick enough or there was just too much sauce. I use chop sticks and found it a little bit more challenging to eat. • the menu was overwhelmingly long — I also know it can be very difficult to pair down a menu when you’ve been around as long as they have, but I found myself paralyzed by choice. There might be a way to simplify things and make it easier to decide — especially if your coming in for the first time. EXCELLENT place. Do yourself and your tastebuds a favor and check out Asia Chow Mein.

I ordered dinner for my son's birthday over the phone for pick up. They won't take credit card number over the phone. You have to pay upon pickup. The food was made to order. I don't like bean sprouts so I got my Chow Mein without. I paid by credit card at the drive through window. The food was very fresh and hot. The portions were excellent. I would definitely like to eat here again. The dining room is open now, so I'll try eating there next time.

Chow mein was excellent and service was awesome! It was great to pull up in the drive through and have a dinner out safely in our car, they even gave us plates and forks. Great food, will definitely make a stop here more often.

Have been eating take out here for twenty years. I love the beef lo mein , beef or chicken chow mein and of course the cheese won tons. I also like how everything heats up so good the next day. The wait is always under ten minutes. For any of you coming here for the first time try the General Sos chicken and you will be hooked on this place. The picture attached is their Beef Chow Mein with three of the Cheese Won Tons. SOO YUMMY!!!

I have never been disappointed by this place. They are very consistent in serving the classic American Chinese food hot and fresh and has that nice wok flavor. Take out portions are large and ready quick. This shop is small and I have never been served here, but take out never failed me. *Edit 7/10/20* I bumped it up from 4 to 5 stars because they have been consistent with quality from the get-go to today.

In my opinion it was the BEST Chinese restaurant in the area! Such a GREAT family owned restaurant! Great (not greasy or soggy) food! Some of the best service I have ever received! ASIA CHOW MEIN and the Ng family will truly be missed! Such a big part of the community! Those are some pretty big shoes to fill!

I have lived around here and I have ordered from Asia for many years. My whole family has. The sesame chicken is not the same. It is deep fried chicken strips with a light gravy sauce and sesame seeds sprinkled on top of it. The rice was hard. The egg rolls had some kind of a new ingredient in it because they did not taste like their regular egg rolls. Super disappointed for the 3rd time. I think it's time for a new Chinese restaurant.

1st time here. Food was very good, wait staff were very sweet and good natured, but service was very slow in a busy lunch rush. They may have been understaffed, not really sure. This is definitely a good place for lunch. My husband & I shared several appetizers, soup and a lunch special. Very tasty ;)
