18 Best Greenville, South Carolina, Restaurants | Eater Carolinas

"It may not be picturesque, but dining at a full-service restaurant inside an Asian superstore is a whole lot of fun. The menu at Asia Pacific is pages long and leans Sichuan, so peruse the offered iPad for helpful photos. Standouts include stir-fried pea tips, roasted whole or half duck, salt-and-pepper lobster, shrimp with egg tofu, beef with bitter melon, and roast pork with Chinese broccoli. A bubble tea bar offers quality boba. The hot and sour soup serves three to four, with a pungency that is layered. On the grocery side, a standing freezer of shaved proteins and an aisle of dumplings are worth ogling. A bit outside of downtown, Asia Pacific earns its wings with easy parking and select sake and beer options." - Stephanie Burnette

Google
This is my favorite. My go to for comfort Chinese food. I love the roast pork noodle soup. I always get it extra spicy. My kids and husband love their house special lo mein and their sesame chicken. I haven’t had a bad meal from there though. The added bonus of being able to shop around the grocery store really makes it above and beyond. The staff are always super friendly, know me by name and never hesitate to help! I will always recommend this restaurant/store.

Google
The vibe is eclectic and a bit rushed. People were coming in and out the entire time I was there - a clear sign it’s a popular spot. Prices felt slightly above average for an Asian restaurant. Service was a little rough, but I try not to judge too harshly: what might seem “off” to me could simply be cultural differences, and that’s fine. The menu had a lot of tempting options, so I ordered a few dishes. The soup dumplings were juicy and flavorful, and the Ground Beef with Potato Croquettes were delicious. For entrées, I had the AP Sweet and Spicy Chicken — tasty and balanced — while my spouse ordered the House Special Lo Mein, which was spot-on in flavor. I’d definitely return, though next time I’d like to try something different from the menu.

Came for my daughters birthday. Food was fantastic. Authentic Chinese food. Hope to go back. Portions were huge as well. Took a lot home

Google
Another late post from Greenville last week…this wasn’t good Chinese food ‘for Greenville’…this was really good Chinese food, PERIOD! Was a block from the convention center, half grocery store, half Chinese restaurant…you could hear the jet turbine burners in the back…But seriously, the owner’s sister waited on us and was a delight! Food was soooooooo good…we ate about half…will be back! If you’re in the area, definitely check them out!

Google
I’ve been coming to the store for a while now because I love discovering and trying new surprise products—they always have something unique on the shelves! On a recent visit, I finally decided to try the restaurant, and it was such a great surprise. The food was absolutely delicious, the portions were super generous, and everything we didn’t finish made for perfect leftovers. The staff was friendly and attentive, and now this place has officially become my new favorite spot!

Jenny L.

Google
Delicious and very reasonably priced. Hot and sour soup with steamed vegetables and tofu for only $25 (after tax and before tip).

Holo S.

Google
Very disappointed that they won’t let you substitute fried rice or noodles for white rice. I have never been to a Chinese restaurant that doesn’t let you do this. They don’t even have sides of Fried rice. To eat fried rice with the sesame chicken, you will have to pay $30+ because it’s a whole order of fried rice. The service was so-so (some were good and some were bad), the bad were not downright rude, but it is clear they don’t care about customer service. However, the chicken was good.

Google
We were visiting Greenville and wanted to have some good Chinese food so we gave this restaurant a try. We ordered 3 menus - bbq pork noodle soup, black bean grouper and beef chow fun. They were all really really good and came in big portion.

Yelp
I will absolutely be back! 2 weeks prior my husband and I were in NY and we love to load up on some really good Asian food while there but we haven't found anything quite similar in SC until now! Really good food. Excellent service. We went on a weekend night and it did start to fill up after 7pm so arrive earlier if you can. The video shows what I had but the best thing ever were those scallion pancakes! That and the beef chow fun were my highlights! The end of the video shows the vibes and ambiance of the Restaurant which is still a good sit down area.

Yelp
It was the only restaurant open on Christmas Day. We had to wait 45 minutes to be seated since they don't accept reservations. We ordered hot sour soup, beef w broccoli, kung pao shrimp and beef chow mein. Our server was very loud and rushed us to make the choices. The food didn't taste good, we kept adding soy sauce and hot sauce to bring up the flavor. The place was busy with people mostly families but l wouldn't be back to try any of their menu items
google avatar

Yelp
Clearly the best Chinese food in Greenville. No need to explore. Everything is clearly homemade by a true masterchef. Dumplings were outstanding and the crispy duck was cooked absolutely perfectly. The bok choy was probably the best I've ever had. I only wish my tummy was bigger. I'll be back to explore the entire menu.
google avatar

Yelp
I'm only giving it a four star rating because I have not tried the food yet. It looks delicious and they are quite busy. Lots to go to, nice clean restaurant, ambience, beautiful inside, but very quiet with the exception of thank static radio coming from the back.

Yelp
Truly authentic Chinese food!! The owners were very sweet. Thankfully we got there before their rush around 11 am. You have to enter through the market but it will be on your left. The Chinese lanterns tinted sky lights add to the ambiance. Definitely need to make a trip to try other dishes but we got their egg drop soup, salt and pepper shrimp, oxtail tripe, and chicken feet. The egg drop soup was the comfort I needed and the salt and pepper shrimp had the perfect amount of spicy. Don't forget to try their homemade chili oil!!
google avatar

Mark T.

Yelp
Hidden gem, went with my daughter who loves the place, we shared several items, can't wait to go back
google avatar

Seyla T.

Yelp
Majority of the food was stellar! The salt and pepper shrimp, spicy salt beef, and roast pork fried rice were delicious. The Chinese broccoli was simple yet tasty. I wasn't too fond of the braised beef noodle soup as it seemed to lack flavor and the noodles used don't soak up or hold any flavor. Service was alright for being dinner time. I would come back and get the other dishes I mentioned and I love shopping in the market after I'm done with my meal. Overall, good visit!

Yelp
You can get pretty much anything here. The best Chinese in Greenville. Not at all your typical fast Chinese or buffet. It's all fresh and the the service is always great.
google avatar

Jonathan G.

Yelp
Hidden gem inside a market? The restaurant inside is absolutely delicious! I grew up eating Chinese food like this in LA. The soup dumplings are delicious. Get yourself a side of ginger and onion sauce, it's fantastic on rice!
google avatar

Daryl C.

Yelp
Food is on par with other Chinese places in greenville area. Nothing amazing but prices are cheap and service is no frills typical for this level. Far better bang for the dollar for similar higher priced places.
google avatar

Annie W.

Yelp
One of the few places in South Carolina that does traditional Chinese dishes well. Delicious family style dishes served in the back of the supermarket. Friendly faces and quick service. I'll definitely come back to try more menu items.
google avatar

Lacie P.

Yelp
Never have had a bad meal or experience at Asia Pacific. It's consistent and it's delicious every time. You can see in my photo the gen tso's is just so crispy and incredible every time. Best Chinese food in Greenville with a fantastic little convenience store attached.

Pop T.

Yelp
This isn't food! Absolutely awful, how anyone could possibly think this was acceptable as fit for human consumption. We ordered 4 or 5 different dishes and we will never order anything from them again.
google avatar

Mike F.

Yelp
Who knew a small place inside an asian supermarket could be this good. Hot and Sour soup, Soup Dumplings, Pork and Noodles, Yu Choy, all solid 5 stars. Service was very good, but they want you to eat and get moving!! Tables are small for all of the food if there are four people. Still worth the trip.
google avatar

James M.

Yelp
Absolutely love going here anytime we're passing through Greenville! The food is fantastic, highly recommend the scallion pancake, hot sour soup, and house special lo mein. For the price you get more than enough and the left overs are always a treat. The store itself is so fun to walk through, we always pick up a variety of the unique ramens, ingredients, and products they carry. Easily the best Asian market and restaurant in South Carolina!

L. J.

Yelp
I finally tried this place and wish I had tried it sooner....I ordered the soup dumplings which are so authentic to the ones I've had in China! I also ordered the chicken lettuce wraps...delicious!!! The green tea went well with the meal too. Thank you for making delicious authentic Chinese food here in the Upstate!
google avatar

Kevin T.

Yelp
Food is authentic. In any other place I'd give it 3/5 but this is South Carolina, its good for where its at. The grocery store seems to have all the necessity when it comes to Asian ingredients but the prices were eye opening. Couldn't tell if its because their suppliers were far away. The service was pretty friendly and attentive for an Chinese restaurant. Right to the point and no small talk but also not rude. The place was really minimalistic and the architecture reminded me of Asian grocery stores in the early 2000's

Yelp
Great service Clean restaurant Lots of people ordering take-out because the Chinese food here is so very delicious and flavorful!!!! Lots of good stuff on there huge menu. Seafood, beef, pork, noodles, fried rice, soups, veggies, dim-sum and much more!!! My son lived in Taiwan and he said the quality of the food at this restaurant is A+ and I do agree!!! Friendly efficient service too!!! Thumbs up!! Not to mention wait till you see all the stuff they sell inside this Supermarket! WOW!!! AMAZING!!! LOVE THIS PLACE!!!! CHECK IT OUT IF YOU LOVE ASIAN FOOD!!! SO DELICIOUS!!!

Jannie R.

Yelp
The dim sum here was really fresh, with soft, pillowy buns and perfectly steamed dumplings. The shrimp dumplings had a nice, delicate texture, and the pork buns were flavorful. Some items took a bit longer to arrive, but everything tasted great. The staff was polite but seemed a little rushed. The restaurant had a classic dim sum house feel, lively and bustling.

K. J.

Yelp
This is a hole in the wall gem. A friend recommended it and I am grateful. It's located in an Asian market so it's a little small but has a Large menu. The chow fun and spicy beef hot pot were amazing. The waitress was very helpful and very honest about the dishes and what to expect. I can't wait to go back.

Christopher C.

Yelp
THIS IS UNFAIR BUSINESS PRACTICE! Asia Pacific Restaurant The food is overly salty, and the service is terrible. Their attitude was rushed, and they never picked up the empty plates. They do not bother to clean up until you tell them to. We had to ask for water and napkins. When we inquired about the food, they told us to look at the menu. Then, they had the audacity to charge us a mandatory 18% tip on the bill. There were no clearly posted signs that an 18% tip was automatically charged to the bill, except for fine print at the bottom of the menu. They made the print inconspicuous so that you would not realize the mandatory charges until you received the bill. When I tried to speak to the manager, they made me wait and didn't want to solve the problem. That poor service does not deserve a mandatory 18% tip. There was nowhere in the restaurant where it was clearly posted. I will report this to the South Carolina Business Law as a violation of not clearly posting this illegal business practice. They lacked transparency and did not follow the Fair Labor Standards Act of South Carolina. These are not "tips", but are service charges, which they lied about by omission. They take money without permission. Very un-American and communist like. I would give them zero stars if I could. THIS IS UNFAIR BUSINESS PRACTICE!

Yelp
Stopped by Asia Pacific to grab some lunch today and asked them to make me something off their menu. Salt and Pepper crispy tofu for lunch today!
google avatar

Wade M.

Yelp
Authentic Chinese food, not a huge selection of dim sum. Not a whole lot of seating so you may have to wait during their busy times. Service was a little slow but they were busy so it was to be expected.
google avatar

Frank F.

Yelp
Amazing score wonderful selection of food and products friendly staff. The restaurant in the market is amazing. Every plate is tasty worth coming back.
google avatar

Yakin P.

Yelp
Mei fun was good and tasty but the fried rice was bland and not fried well it seemed also the crab and cream cheese wanton had a whole lot of cream cheese and no crab (not cool) and there Jarritos made my kids sick. The bubbles tea was good. I did not take pics sorry people. The service was great.
google avatar

Leslie P.

Yelp
The store is one of the larger Asian stores near Greenville and is very well stocked and clean! They have a restaurant attached with amazing food as well! The owner of the restaurant is very nice and the service is top notch.

Shauna S.

Yelp
The owner made our Bubble Tea & the tea was so yummy & the tapioca was perfectly soft & sweetened. She was super friendly and helpful helping us pick the right tea. Glad we stopped!

Rod M.

Yelp
The food here is amazing because of the authentic Chinese cooking they do. It's a hole in a wall place it's right inside a supermarket. The owners and staff are very friendly and the service is fast. I've been here many times and Me and my family are always satisfied with everything
google avatar

Jessica C.

Yelp
Sooo good! Best Chinese food we have had in Greenville. Enjoyed the duck, salt and pepper, squid, fried rice, and soup! Must try!
google avatar

Yelp
Located in the front corner of a supermarket, this restaurant is surprisingly packed and filled with good food. When I first went to the restaurant, I was a little skeptical but boy am I glad I was wrong! The menu is extensive and makes up for the lack of Asian restaurants around the Greenville/Greer area. From Sichuan dishes to roasted duck to Hainan style chicken, there are lots of options to choose from without being sick of this place. The food reminds me of food you can get in California. So it was quite a pleasant surprise. Service isn't bad when they're not super busy (i.e. on a Friday night), but honestly, they're trying their best. It's not like they're sitting around chatting, so just try to be patient. The dishes here are meant to be shared like family style, so it did make me chuckle seeing people with giant dishes individually placed in front of each person rather than on the Lazy Susan to be shared. Either way, I don't think you can go wrong with the food for the most part. Most dishes do come with a serving with rice. My regular go-to is the roasted duck and the salt & pepper squid. My only complaints would be that the duck for takeout should include more sauce, otherwise, it can be a little dry; the egg roll we tried also tasted a bit like the frozen egg rolls you can get from Costco. So would not recommend that. Prices are kind of expensive ranging from $15-35. But I think they know their food has a high demand.

Suzan L.

Yelp
The food, and the ambience need to be improved upon. I liked the fact that all the servers worked all the tables. I dislike the fact that there were not any vegetables to be found other than a few mung beans and green onions crawling through my food. All the servers spoke wonderful English and were smiling and pleasant. They did not have a lunch menu so you pay top dollar for lunch. I would've been happy with some vegetables in my food, but I looked around the entire restaurant and only one man had some broccoli on his plate. I should've ordered a side of vegetables. I saw one man with 5 inches high of pork fried rice, quite the diet food. One table of four people got served one at a time while each person's food got cold. Obviously the kitchen has some issues that need to get worked out, maybe a head chef? I will go back when I'm ready for some more glass noodles, but it will not be with hard dried; pork that should have been brined. I also noted that there was not any sauces on the tables. They were offered to some people, they were not offered to me so I can't tell you what they were for. I guess I'll keep looking for a restaurant that uses the proper ingredients for the proper dishes ..........
google avatar

Yelp
I absolutely LOVE APSM. The grocery store side has so much to offer. I think I could spend hours looking at things. There's everything to offer from kitchen supplies to basic cooking ingredients to rarities that you don't come across in America. There's a live fish tank where you can pick out your own fish and if you want, they'll cook it and prepare it for you in the restaurant! Their staff is friendly. Every time I ask for help they do not hesitate to answer my question. DONT FORGET ABOUT THE RESTAURANT. This is the most authentic Asian food in the greenville area yet! Most of their food it's family style, so don't let your eyes get bigger than your stomach. I always get an order of the fried chicken wings and typically the glass noodles and roasted pork. This time I opted for fried chicken wings and some dumplings. Man oh man was I in love. I ordered over the phone and took it to go so I would be able to eat it at home. The two types of dumplings I wanted they were out of and I'm not sure if that's typical every Friday night or just this Friday night, they were very busy. I hope you stop by this awesome Asian supermarket/restaurant you will not be disappointed.

Yelp
Good food, horrible service. Waitresses are rude and give one word responses, we didn't have any salt and they took so long to check on us i had to go up and ask for it. We got all of our food even the dish they said would take longer than anything, but it took 30 minutes for us to get our chicken entree and we were done eating by then. As i was walking to the restroom the waitress was walking so fast she almost shoulder checked me and i had to back into a display to get out of her way. Everything took a ridiculous amount of time to come out and again the waitresses were rude the whole time. 1/10 experience and the 1 point is because the food was good.
google avatar

Devin W.

Yelp
The supermarket has literally everything you could possibly need! The restaurant is very good too and had large portions.
google avatar

Hollie F.

Yelp
Wonderful food!! They also have a market to browse. Have only ordered take out but the restaurant looks pleasant.
google avatar

Hannah D.

Yelp
Their restaurant is amazing - their waitstaff is super helpful - they have saved me more than once on ordering an insanely spicy dish and making sure I knew what I was ordering - very appreciative. Their soup dumplings are to die for- huge menu - I have never had anything less than amazing there. Also grocery shopping after is a fun activity without having to get in the car!
google avatar

Leslie N.

Yelp
Typically love coming here for their food and some groceries, not all because most of the time they don't even have exactly what I need to make things like bun bo hue or pho so I would have to take a detour to Saigon Market where I should have gone in the very first place to get my things. But this review isn't just about the lack of products this time I came in to eat and every one of our dishes were extremely salty. We ordered the crispy pork belly, egg drop soup, char siu rice plate and Taiwanese chicken nuggets. Their food is normally good but this very specific day it was SO salty. Husband and I couldn't finish it. We to go the food and ended up tossing it all away. I was able to salvage the egg drop soup by adding in water to dilute it and make it less salty. Other than that.. nope. Nope nope nope. I couldn't do a damn thing to fix the other dishes. Such a huge disappointment! After dinner, we went over to the grocery side to pick up some pate to make banh mi's at home. I know this might be partially my fault for not looking but guess what? I'm back in Virginia right now and just looked at the pate and it says "best used by Feb112022". Are you freaking kidding me right now?! Talk about being disappointed even MORE which is what led me to write this semi lengthy review. I had so much love for this Asian market/restaurant over the years but now I'm just overall disappointed, unhappy and not sure I would even come back. The owners are great and sweet but please please check on your products and be more consistent with the cooking!

Yelp
I'm glad that yelpers helped out with this one, because it was an easy decision to come here! Me and some friends were in town for a car show that was literally behind the restaurant (Convention Center). So after experiencing the show, we decided to get some food. Sat down rather quickly, and proceeded to order. Started with egg rolls, steamed buns and pot stickers which were amazing. We later got Half Duck, and some other plates I can't recall at the moment. Overall, everything was amazing. PS. They serve huge family style portions!
google avatar

Annette B.

Yelp
This is a restaurant and supermarket all in one. Food menu comes with pics so that helps TREMENDOUSLY. You can get just about anything here from frozen food to fresh vegetables, spices and tableware and utensils. It's fun to just browse at all they have to offer! Second time eating here so if you like authentic then this is a good spot to try!
google avatar

Guy W.

Yelp
Now my daughter loves this place, Folks. We stopped by for her to pick out some of her favorites and of course I had to check it out for myself. Great selection of your favorite items and I was surprised by them having a restaurant on the other side of the Market. Now I will have to check that out at another time. If you haven't had a chance to drop by and see for yourself you probably will be surprised as I was to stroll down the many aisles of food and other selections that are available. Yes, it is a Super Market!!!!!

Mei Z.

Yelp
This is one the best almost hidden gems in the area. The grocery is remarkable having items we can't find in other Asian markets. The restaurant is incredible and has fast and fresh service.
google avatar

Solar H.

Yelp
I'm a local and will occasionally come to buy groceries. And each time I visit, the costs goes up. I understand about the inflation problems we are having but this place is only raising the price for items that are "popular" but not how it's supposed to be priced. The customer service is very awful! If that white old guy at the jewelry counter is the store manager, he really needs to get fired or change his attitude. The young cashiers act like they don't speak English and acts like it's so hard to say thank you. All of these employees need a lesson in customer service. Sometimes it's not about trying to get money in your pocket and getting more loyal customers that will build your business & reputation. And the restaurant they have connected to them. They should close that down since the food is not great. Just extend their grocery aisle. Especially since they always have boxes and merchandise on the floor. And can't go through with a shopping cart.

Richard M.

Yelp
Great food! Very authentic and tasty! The servers are friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Overall a great experience. I can't wait to take my out of town Chinese friends when they visit.
google avatar

Briana T.

Yelp
What a cool supermarket/restaurant combo! This place is super low-key with great authentic Chinese. The restaurant portion isn't huge, but does have plenty of seating and we sat down immediately. We ordered the pan fried dumplings and the spring rolls as appetizers. The dumplings were superb and had amazing flavor, and the spring rolls were solid but didn't blow us away. We all split the general tso's chicken, shrimp mei fun, and the beef and onion entrees. The noodles were a clear favorite, they were incredible and super fresh! The general Tso's was also very good- the sauce was very flavorful and the breading to meat ratio was close to perfect. The beef and onion entree was still solid, but highly recommend the noodles! The service was as expected at a supermarket restaurant and it was pretty cool to walk around and see all the different items in the aisles. Overall, everything was very fresh and authentic- highly recommend for a quick and casual dinner!
google avatar

Gil G.

Yelp
Oh wow, the food is good here. Have heard about the restaurant side for a long time and finally decided to go. Will be going again soon. We both have versions of the fried rice dishes. Egg rolls too. Huge portions for both. Took about half home. So ... if this place isn't in your list yet, put it on there.
google avatar

Scott H.

Yelp
The service we received here was probably better than Halls Chophouse, it was that good. The food was also really great. I like my chicken lo mein and she liked the Asian beef stew noodle dish. We LOVED the scallion pancake, it's is a must have. We didn't care for the egg drop soup or the egg rolls as much and would probably not get these again. The portions here are quite large on everything.
google avatar

Yelp
We came here looking for authentic Chinese food and Asia Pacific does NOT disappoint. We came here twice in a weekend because it was that good! You have to walk through the supermarket to get to the restaurant, and they have dine-in seating where tables are 6+ feet apart from each other. The waitress was super nice and attentive to our table. The first time we went, we ordered the roasted duck noodle soup and the stir-fried beef tripe. The duck soup was AMAZING--honestly, even better than some places I've had in Atlanta. The soup was fragrant, fatty, and full of umami flavor. The Chinese broccoli was perfectly cooked and the egg noodles were plentiful. The duck is a showstopper--tender, succulent, and full of flavor. The fatty skin sucks up all the flavor of the soup and is so good. It was so good we got it both times we came!!! The stir-fried tripe was good if you're a fan of tripe. It was stir-fried with cauliflower, lotus root, salted black beans, and some type of melon (maybe bittermelon). The tripe was chewy and cooked perfectly, great alongside rice. We also got the spicy ox tripe, which came with red bell peppers and jalapenos. I liked the flavor of the spicy ox tripe better, but I liked the veggie selection in the normal beef tripe. Overall, both were good and filling! If you're looking to try some authentic Chinese dishes, you have to stop by Asia Pacific! Service is quick and friendly. They also have a huge variety of products in their supermarket, and they have a bubble tea section as well. I love this place!
google avatar

Traci T.

Yelp
Updated review. We love this place. Food is amazing and authentic. Kids love the Bubble Tea. Super portions for lunch the next day. Staff are on it.

Boen F.

Yelp
Nice little restaurant tucked away in back of the supermarket. Menu has a lot of options that you won't typically find. We ordered fried dumplings, soup dumplings, duck soup, glass noodles with pork and char siu buns. All of it was good. The place was busy and the service was having a little trouble keeping up but it was worth the wait for the food.
