Asian Bay

Pretty mid Chinese spot (“good” for CDMX standards). Overpriced and many dishes were lacking flavour. Service was very good though. If you are craving a decent Chinese lunch I would recommend, but not coming back soon.

I would come back one thousand times just for the wonton soup. I’ve never had a bad dish at this place. Authentic Chinese food with a laid back atmosphere and reasonable prices. It’s an absolute must.

The place on first look seems amazing. The menu is chunky... with a side range of meats and veggie options. I ordered the cumin lamb plate and the salt and pepper duck wings. Both were so fried that the meat seemed nonexistent. They had like a dense, chewy texture and weren't juicy nor very meaty. The flavor and presentation were excellent but just seemed like the plates could've retained more juiciness or cooked less or something. Also, rice and sides are additional so you're aware. If i come back I'll have to specify these things, but other than that, the restaurant is really good.

Been here twice and loved the atmosphere both inside and outside on the patio. Had the Chicken with mushroom and vegetables and I highly recommend it. My wife is vegetarian and had stir fry vegetables first time but wasn’t a fan so she ordered the same chicken with mushroom and vegetables without the chicken and she liked it a lot better. We actually live a block from Chinatown and tried many restaurants there and were very disappointed. Asian Bay is great and according to the write up in their menu they’ve been around since 1946 and were the cities first Chinese restaurant. We’ll definitely be making the trip back when ever we feel like Chinese food and a nice atmosphere.

Salt and Pepper pork ribs are great! The Kung Pao Chicken is not very authentic (too salty). Love the service and atmosphere here!

Love this place! Wouldn’t say the food is the best but it’s decent and delicious enough, it has a big portion, it has a big variety of choices, the good thing about this place is it has vengan choices, could bring my vegan friends here. and the service is also pretty good.

Asian Bay has a traditional Chinese style from the outside, but its food doesn't meet expectations. The menu is a bit confusing, with categories scattered all over the place. I tried the classic Asian Bay chicken, which is similar to orange chicken, but it wasn't great. Although the chicken seemed to be freshly deep-fried in the restaurant, it tasted mediocre. I also tried the vegetarian dumplings and noodles, but they didn't leave a lasting impression either. The one positive aspect of Asian Bay is the attentive service. However, I was surprised to notice that they charged extra for a side of white rice, which was a bit odd, especially considering its elevated price points for their entrees. Overall, while Asian Bay may have its charms, such as its service, the subpar quality of the food makes it better to skip and go somewhere else.

We were craving a Chinese meal after a wonderful week in CDMX. Since this restaurant is only a few blocks from our hotel, we decided to check it out. We were a little hesitant because of some of the mixed reviews on here. HOWEVER, we were VERY PLEASED with our delicious meal! Note: it appears the first half of the menu contains Mexican Chinese items, while the second half is authentic Chinese items. We had a wickedly hot and delicious Szechuan chicken dish, a pan fried noodles dish, a tofu/mixed vegetables stir fry and a pot of sweet and sour soup. The portions were generous and our party of three ate very heartily and we still had leftovers. Efficient, attentive service. Clean, classy indoor dining areas and outdoor patio. It's a family owned business and we briefly chatted with the owner. Everyone is friendly. DO eat here!

We just had dim sum, and I have no idea how anyone who's ever eaten dim sum could recommend Asian Bay. Admittedly, there's not many options in Mexico City for dim sum, so if you have a serious craving and are ok with truly mediocre food, then go here.

My second visit. Great Asian Fare. Well Balanced ingredients between savory, spicy, Umami. We tried 5 types of dumplings today and they were all excellent. Also had some green which were good and also Diablo Chicken which was great plus some wonton soup which was also very good. They have two menus for standard fare and the other for traditional Chinese fare. Both are great! We did not get any white rice with our meal which is fairly typical though. Only wish service would be a little better from the waiter. I highly recommend.

We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of food at Asian Bay. Everything that we ordered (steamed fish, beef, minced meat and tofu soup) tasted so good. Fresh and authentic Chinese food. Add the great service (attentive and respectful servers) and good ambiance, I think we found our favorite Chinese restaurant and it's in Mexico City (we're from California). Definitely worth going back to next time we're in this part of the world. We highly recommend this place. #jetsetters

Very average food. Waiter Staff were all Simple, Primitive, and Basic. We spoke Spanish and English and got no recommendations and spoke in circles when asking about dishes served. The wait staff disturbed us and made ordering difficult that we ordered basic food to be certain we might have a good dining evening. Food was served was warm not hot. Food was very average and more plentiful of sauces, salts, and spices than veggies or meats. Outside dining was nice but Many Smokers and it was annoying to eat and sit amongst smoking. Price was very reasonable. From viewing the outside and observing the nicely dressed waiters, I expected a better dining experience. Do not intend to return.

This place has beautiful decor. As a native Chinese, the food is good, not mind blowing but still very good. We had - Shrimp wonton soup: the shrimp is a little hard and not so tender - Yangzhou fried rice: very well done! Probably the most authentic dish that I tried that night - Baiqie Chicken: it is made in the Cantonese way with scallion sauce on top - Fried beef with rice noodles: standard. very good The portion is good and the service is great

I've been to a couple different Chinese restaurants in the area- this is definitely the most authentic you can get in the city. There's a couple menus, one of which has the more authentic Chinese dishes. The restaurant was empty when I went on a random weekday but there were a couple families of Asian/Chinese descent ordering which was a good sign to me. For starters, I ordered soup dumplings (decent but not my favorite- had a bit too sticky of a consistency), potstickers (very very good), and the pork buns (which were strangely fried/browned but really delicious). I also ordered the spicy chicken and the pepper beef, which are two of my favorite classic Chinese dishes. Neither disappointed in the least. The spicy chicken was super spicy...maybe more than I was used to, but it had a very good flavor. The prices were pretty reasonable and the portion-sizes were good. Plain white rice was extra but it had a good consistency and taste. They also had a wide selection of teas/drinks, one of which was a lychee tea (delicious). I would absolutely come back...I noticed they have boiled fish in Szechuan spicy sauce, another one of my Chinese favorites, which would probably be worth trying here.

Traveled to Mexico City with my parents who are not used to eating Mexican food everyday. I was rather depressed by the options in Chinatown and the likes of Panda Express and P.F.Chang. Came across this authentic place serving yummy Cantonese food. They also have dim sum and other style Chinese dishes but we only tried the Cantonese ones and my parents were so happy. Friendly staff and locating in a safe neighborhood. Highly recommend~

The decor is very warm and inviting and Chinese style with big gold lions at the entrance. The food was even better - the shrimp dim sum wontons were the best I've had outside of Hong Kong!

As a Chinese person in Mexico City for a short visit, I have to say this place serves very, very, very, very mediocre food. The only thing we had that's comparable to authentic Chinese food was the Sichuan cucumber salad, everything else was either too bland or just plain gross -the sweet and sour squirrel fish gave us a cat food like after taste lingered in our mouth for hours....I didn't have much expectation coming here yet I am still greatly disappointed. I hope this place doesn't represent the majority of the Chinese restaurants here.

This place has great dim sum (dumplings). I usually get the shrimp, pork with vegetables, and duck with vegetable dumplings. They are delicious and very authentic. Their hot and sour soup with chicken is also very good. My favorite day to come is Sunday. I prefer to sit outside, feed my hangover with some dumplings and maybe catch some of the NFL games on their outdoor tv.

I came here today for my birthday, the waiters were terrible, we asked about seating and everyone of them seemed to have an attitude. I also don't get why so many recommendations and stars for this place. It's not worth it for "good" Asian food. Very disappointing :(

Asian Bay's Dim Sum was really disappointing. We ordered one of nearly every item on the Dim Sum menu, hoping to find the good flavor described on many review sites. They had the appearance of authentic Cantonese dishes I've had, but the taste was almost always... off.

I came mainly to try the dim sum, which happened to be a disappointment. Everything was too small, pricy and didn't taste well. I don't know the name for the dumplings that have soup inside, but they were the smallest and driest ones I've ever had. Service is good, nice atmosphere.

I brought my friends there for celebrating Chinese New Year, we liked the food, tho they are kinda pricy, but the waiters are kinda rude. And if you wanna split the bill with many ppl, that will be really difficult, cuz you have no idea what they write down, so we ended up just split the bill evenly.

This place is definitely worth to go! It is the best Chinese restaurant in Mexico City! They have very authentic Chinese food. And the chef is one of the best chefs in Latin America!

This was the best meal we had in Mexico City. The soups were fantastic. We also ordered bok choy, sweet & sour chicken & fried rice. One thing I would warn is do not order too much. We ended up having enough for dinner the next night as well. So what we thought was enough for two, was enough for four people.

As some reviewers stated staff was not so nice, they had attitude and spilled wine on someone at our table and the owner just gave a dirty look to the waiter who spilled the wine but other then that no one apologized. They added tip to our bill also which we were forced to pay. I would not come here again very horrible experience with the food and staff.

Mapo tofu isn't really authentic but we had great Guangzhou style dick. BTW If you think this is good dim sum you haven't even tried average ones yet. This is not even close.

I don't understand why this place is always empty, consistently the best Asian food in town (try the dumplings, ALL of their dumplings). Literally everyone I brought is hooked on their food and since it's never full, service is always super fast and friendly (although their probably also friendly when it's full). Anyhow, I'll keep coming back

Authentic Chinese food in Mx City, ask for the Chinese menu and for some tea. Excellent service and food!
