Google
Asian Family Market is a great spot for imported Chinese and Asian groceries. Wide variety of products, from pantry staples to specialty snacks, plus fresh vegetables and a section for traditional Chinese medicine. Service is friendly and helpful, making shopping here a smooth and pleasant experience.

Google
Asian Family Market carries many varieties of products from Asian countries including Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia…etc. They have extensive selections of spices and herbs for making Asian foods. They also have many imported goods including canned food, noodles, snacks, frozen meals, and drinks. The price is competitive. Sometimes they also have seasonal fruits and vegetables that no other stores have in the area. So it is fun to shop for groceries here.

Google
Great local market. Has all that is Asian from various parts of the planet - great variety of veggies, meats, frozen and canned items. For me, the store is the the perfect size - has everything I need without being so gigantic that I get lost and tired searching for what I want. Clean. Produce was fresh and most were a very reasonable price. Nice selection of fresh and dried mushrooms. Great meat selection with lots of frozen selections suitable for Hot Pot. I will return.

Google
Love that I can shop wider selections of fruits and different cuts of meat here than other grocery stores. Makes it easier to add variety and fun into our family’s weekly meal plan. Most staff there are very friendly, but two weeks ago, the cashier who checked me out left me packing all my grocery’s myself at the checking counter, while standing there watching and waiting, after I said I brought my own bags.

Google
Asian family market, was surprisingly bigger than what I expected. I've been to different Asian market's but they weren't as big as this one. When you walk into the Asian market you get a scent of all the different varieties of seafood they carry in the store. They carry tons of fresh vegetables and ingredients for Asian cooking. As well as tons of snacks. They also carry fresh seafood like crabs 🦀 and fish 🐟.

Baya B.

Google
Nice selection of foods and produce, many are imported from China. Love the nicely cut meat, I bought it for my huoguo. Also you can find some sweets and desserts imported from Japan and South Korea.

Tanya D.

Google
Good variety and convenient access. Has a good selection of meats, fishe and a nice fresh produce section. It doesn't have a deli like some of the other stores have, but the selection is great without that.

Google
Asian Family Market is not only the best stop for seafood. It is a haven for lovers of tropical fruits. They offer an impressive selection of exotic finds, catering to both adventurous palates and those seeking familiar favorites. What truly sets them apart is their consistent supply of Monthong Durian. For those unfamiliar, Monthong Durian is considered the 'King of Fruits' in Thailand, renowned for its creamy texture and sweet, complex flavor. Beyond the durian, the variety of fruits on offer is truly impressive. From vibrant mangoes and juicy pineapples to delicate rambutan and tangy passion fruit, there's something for everyone. The quality is consistently high, with fresh, ripe fruits that are bursting with flavor.

Yelp
Since my kid was having surgery the day after I landed, she and I picked a few things for the fridge- plus a few things I like to nibble on while she rests at home. There's a huge variety of Vietnamese and other Asian produce at Asian Family M. in the Canyon Place Shopping Ctr in Beaverton,, including fresh (and frozen) meat, seafood, fruits, vegetables, herbs+spices, packaged snacks- as well as a huge range of household goods. My Thai Guava looked tasty- but it was bland and didn't have a pop of sweetness. All the other fruits we picked up were tasty as well as mangosteens my kid loves.

Yelp
I love this store! Everyone is so friendly and helpful here. They have a good selection of things I need. Plus, their dragonfruit is really good! I've bought it twice now, and both times they were really good. It can be hard to import this fruit, and many times if I've bought from my local Safeway, it's rotten. And the prices of the dragonfruit here are half what they are in my local store. It's my favorite fruit, so I'm happy! I also got a pandan sponge cake here, which I only got one bite of because my son devoured it after I gave him a bite. It was really good... big fan of pandan here.

Yelp
This market has most of fantastic ingredients I miss from Sichuan. I wish it was closer or had a southeast location!

Yelp
Would you believe, we found this market by 'accident'? We were in Beaverton, for some reason, and hubby wanted to stop at such & such for lunch, and I spotted this market, decided to go & check it out. The produce section was the first things you see, upon entering, and I couldn't believe how cheap was the Navel Oranges. We grabbed a cart! I was seeing some produce, that I've not seen in such a long time. We started bagging! But, I saw this Pomelo, I'm sure, and it was tempting to buy, but I didn't want to spend $10 for a grapefruit, that hubby could not eat. If that was an artichoke, I would HAVE invested in one! (A mandarin @ Safeway was over $1 per pound, and it took me two servings! That size, would have taken me several days! So, I stopped myself. We were in the store for a long time, going from one aisle, to make sure we're not missing any. We did found some bakery goods, too. Because we just started our errands, we have many stops, we decided not to be impulsive on the seafood and other perishable. I sent some photos, to let our son know about this market. I told the cashier, this is our first trip here. I asked her if I could have a calendar (it is something we didn't have in Portland), and she said you have to make $60 purchase. I didn't! She gave me one anyway, thank you for that, since this is my first visit, I WILL BE BACK! So happy, because a Chinese Calendar is something we have growing up, when I was little, that we always have at home, mom gets FREE. I also used to try to write in Chinese caligraphy, and having one at home every year, brings happy childhood memories!

Yelp
So my daughter was doing a little thrifting @ Plato's Closet a few doors down, and despite the cool music, I was starting to get bored. I took a walk down the sidewalk and went inside. I do enjoy a good Asian Market. I usually go to Uwajimaya, but that was far away lol. The smells and variety of grocery was just as good. They did have a wide variety of Asian fruits, but they were quite expensive imo. I mean the cost of groceries has been through the roof everywhere so not a huge surprise. I found some sweet corn tapioca pudding which quite intrigued me. I did have to get back to get my kid, and unfortunately the line was quite long and I believe there was only one register open. I had to put it back and head back to PC. Maybe next time I will come when not so busy
google avatar

Jonathan Y.

Yelp
Good selection of snacks and drinks and other types of food. The market is a little bit on the smaller side but there's a lot to try in the density. They have these corn chips that are amazing and it has a turtle on it. The one thing I'll say is when the lady was checking out at the cashier she was tossing around my drinks really aggressively and a couple of those were soda cans. I think she was trying to be fast while bagging, but the same time just kind of neglecting the items. I was actually surprised that the cans weren't dented with how hard she was throwing them around. Overall, really like this market will keep coming here .
google avatar

Alex K.

Yelp
Prices are pretty good on produce. Selection is decent. You can get live fish. However, the check out clerks are Curly and unhelpful and make you bag all your own food, while they stand around.

Yelp
Short: Great selection, decently organized and stocked, and good items to find. Visited week of Sept 16th 2022. I arrived after being a regular here for a number of years. It was nice to visit, the outside sign was different but the interior was the same since they opened. They had some tables in the middle to display promotional items and for the autumn festival [moon cakes]. I was seeking some asian chips, snacks, frozen items [like dumplings, steamed buns, meals], and drinks. The majority of items are Chinese or Taiwanese. However, they do have a decent stock and selection of other areas, such as Korean, Vietnamese, and other Southeastern asian cuisine items. I really love their instant/dry noodle selection, they tend to keep up with stock and flavor selection. Along with the snack [like chips] aisle. The chip aisle does occasionally have Chinese edition of Lay's, which you definitely should try, if you're adventurous! This time the frozen areas were half stocked, but I could tell they were actively stocking it. They had a good selection of dumplings, meals, and steamed buns. Unfortunately for me, I was looking for a specific korean rice dish, and I could not find it. [I searched other asian markets in the area and they did not have it either]. It is conveniently located next to the Beaverton Bus station and it is a large store with a variety of selections. It is definitely worth browsing through and without a doubt you'll find something tasty. I will say, I can not review the deli and produce section this time since I haven't visited it in a long time. They usually have a very good selection of produce, many specific items that you can't find commonly. They do have common household items, like utensils, rice cookers, soap, and etc. However, the cashier aisle can be a bit chaotic when it is super busy, since there aren't official markings. But there are at least 2 cashiers ready and open. The store itself looked very clean, no dust on the floors or on the shelves. Overall, I do love visiting and browsing around. I usually get a bunch of snacks and instant noodles. Occasionally, some traditional asian desserts or frozen essentials. I will always try to visit when I can.

Hilarey B.

Yelp
I have been to family Asian market three times. The first time they did not have the lotus root I was looking for. The second time they had what I wanted, but I was charged for the more expensive variety of oranges and not the ones I chose, so I ended up paying more for the wrong item. Last time I'll try it, I just needed one thing and after waiting in line for 10 min (2 checkers on a busy Sunday afternoon), I did not realize they will not run a cc for less than $5 (4.60) and was told to choose something else. I didn't have cash, I didn't want to be told to "choose something else" - I didn't need anything else, so left.

Yelp
I like how this market is super clean and organized. They carry quite a selection of basic necessities for cooking. Their produce prices are a little competitive with main stream grocery stores. Their specialty items such as cooking utensils, chopsticks, etc tend to be priced on the high side compared to other Asian markets. Their meat department is clean and prices are competitive. They are fully staffed. Although their employees are not very helpful nor friendly in demeanor.

John L.

Yelp
Nice Asian Supermarket on the west side. Smaller than Ranch 99, but still have a good selection of some things not available at 99.
google avatar

Jenny Y.

Yelp
Asian Food Center, I am starting to like you. You have a little bit of everything- from different meats (for hot pot, KBBQ) to frozen dim sum (baos, dumplings, shumai) to a variety of drinks/desserts (instant boba tea, boba ice cream, bottled milk teas). Speaking of hot pot, there are a TON of flavors to pick from for hot pot soup base as well as fresh veggies, frozen meatballs, etc. It's basically a one stop shop. A few notes: must spend a minimum of $5 to use credit card, or else cash, please. Walking up to wait in line to pay can be a bit confusing as it is not clearly marked (where does it start? where is the end? are there people waiting in line already?)... I mean it was just based off of this one experience and could totally be user error. A streamlined process would be nice. Parking is plentiful.

Yelp
Asian Food Center has been successfully residing in the former Beaverton Marshalls location for several years now. This store sells mainly Chinese items but there are some items from other parts of Asia as well. The store is open daily from 9am to 9pm. There is plenty of parking available and it is located only a short walk from the Beaverton Transit Center. This store is a bit less expensive than Uwajimaya on similar items. The produce department carries a great variety of items but the freshness is sometimes lacking. The store is clean and well stocked. I've never experienced a problem with any of the cashiers. They carry a small selection of dishes and cooking items along with some health and beauty merchandise. The store always seems a bit dimly lit inside. If you're in the area and need Asian food items this store may work out for you but in all honesty I prefer going to Uwajimaya.

Yelp
This is an update to my previous review from several years ago. Apparently the store changed its name some time ago. Asian Family Market still seems to have a great selection of Chinese medicines, at lower prices than Wing Ming or Amazon. BUT! Now they are now all LOCKED UP behind counters. I get it, crimes are up in Portland area. However, I have a serious problem with this: THE COUNTER IS NOT STAFFED, no one seems to be in charge of it, or maybe it has shorter operating hours, if so that's not posted. Elsewhere in the store, the checkout lines are so long it goes halfway through the store's retail space -- because it's so badly understaffed. Anyway, I left frustrated.

Yelp
Since I shop on SW Canyon Road a lot, I've stopped in the Asian Food Center several times for produce, to pick up Asian condiments, and once to buy a new wok. While the market is clean, a huge plus, and the condiment aisle is well stocked with soy, oyster, fish, chile and curry sauces, and other pastes/sauces from all over Asia, I don't enjoy my experience here as much as I enjoy perusing other Asian markets in SE, like my favorite, Hong Phat. Some of the produce is high quality and better priced than American supermarkets - lemons, oranges, onions, bokchoy for example. Other produce is bruised or looks like it should be discounted. Be careful when selecting. The dried noodle selection is awesome - I buy a case of individual packs of mung bean noodles to make pad won sen. The convience of prepackaged portions and cheap pricing make it worth stopping here. They also have decent udon noodles in the refrigerator section and wonton and dumpling wrappers in the freezer. Always enjoy checking out the seafood department and the meats, chickens with legs, feet and beaks, but admit that I am just not that adventurous! I've been all over Asia and didn't try it there so not about to buy it and prepare it at home. A few weeks ago I stopped in on a Saturday because I needed a new wok and figured this store would have a decent variety. They didn't; they only had two or three to choose from. I made a selection then had to wait in line for more than 10 minutes. Did I mention it was a Saturday? It was also around 6pm and it seemed like everyone was here buying dinner ingredients. Since I was out this way, I couldn't resist stopping in TJ Maxx to do a walk through to see if there were any "finds" or bargains to be had. Found a similar wok for $20 less! I bought it and returned the one from the Asian Food Center. A few dollars is understandable but $20 is robbery. I'm never able to get assistance within the aisles or from the cashiers (and did I mention the slow check out lines?) so I limit my shopping here to when I need something specific and only available at an Asian market and I'm already in this shopping area.

Yelp
Picked up 4 fresh fish ($$$) and had them cleaned and cut at store. Their cleaning process is behind doors. Opened the packages at home for use and it appears the fish is missing pieces! So unprofessional and a scam. Very disappointed and will not be returning.

Yelp
This place has my favorite miso with dashi. And all the ramen and noodles you could want. They have every tasty snacks you'd want. If you can't find something just ask any of the friendly staff
google avatar

Nathaniel J B.

Yelp
Meat looks dated and old....Funny strange odor and selections limited but close proximity with great location plus a pretty decent selection of ramens so it's a must for me? I don't recommend but if you don't have the ability to travel to a larger newer option maybe an option?

Jacob P.

Yelp
Yo! Free shopping carts!! People have been leaving these all over from central beaverton to cedar hills crossing, and the place doesn't seem to care all that much! And I haven't even mentioned the prices and business practices in the actual store! Oof!!
google avatar

Stephanie S.

Yelp
Decent Asian market for grocery and stuff. Ppl are friendly, price is reasonable. Downside is lines can be real long on certain days. I do like the fresh live seafood options, but the clams are meh at best, often not so great.

Lindsey V.

Yelp
They don't check product expiration dates, have bought snacks from here that are expired for over a month or even longer. The place also has a very strong smell when you enter, like rotting fish/meat.

Hin P.

Yelp
This store used to be my favorite store, but I stop buying fish/meat at this market due to my deep concern about the strange and unpleasant smell that has been lingering in the market recently. Specifically, the seafood section emits a terrible odor that is extremely off-putting to customers. It seems as though the floor in the seafood section has not been cleaned properly, or that an excessive amount of bleach has been used in an attempt to mask the smell. Whatever the cause may be, the result is an overpowering and unpleasant scent that makes it difficult to even walk through the area.
google avatar

Justine D.

Yelp
Extremely long lines lately. Despite going different times of the week, there always seemed to be a pretty long line no matter what time we went. However, service is still pretty quick and the shelves are decently well stocked - was able to find the things that we needed.
google avatar

Sandra H.

Yelp
This is a multi-cultural asian foods store. I was hoping to find a Korean specific grocery but this worked out just fine. I also managed to pick up a lot of fresh fruits and veggies that are not so common at your regular store. It's clean but not brightly lit. Although well organized, lots of people stocking items but no offers of help. At the check out the girl seemed to have a bit of an attitude with the person in front of me. Other than that, it's an OK place. Prices are fair and good variety.
google avatar

Rose M.

Yelp
I've been shopping here for some time since they replaced that ungodly Marshall's store, but I've just now gotten around to writing a review! Anyway, this is a great place to find obscure foods and items at a decent price, especially from East & SE Asia. Cheap, but tasty ramen at $.49 is hard to beat. I've also been able to find new foods and flavors I would've never gotten the chance to eat elsewhere. The overall prices are cheaper than the Uwajimaya, but in return the quality isn't as high. But I'd still definitely recommend shopping here at least once. The only other things to watch out for are the prices and the quality of the food products. Sometimes the prices at the register will be very different from what they say in the shelf. I've also purchased Mochi that had freezer burn on it. Selection: Foods-they have selections from Latin America to Europe, and all over Asia. They also have a vast selection of fresh meat if that's your thing. Face/Body- not nearly as extensive as Uwajimaya, but most of what they have is cheap. Household- decent selection of cooking items and other household. Service: Hit or miss. The Caucasian male with the long brown hair has almost always been very friendly when I went through his line, while the Asian female cashiers are more neutral. I think this may be cultural, so don't take too much offense. Wait Time: I've never really had to wait in line for more than 5 minutes. Today (Saturday), there was no wait at all. Bill: $-$$$

Yelp
I love to shop there cause it has practically all the stuff I wanted. I love getting stuff from the produce section
google avatar

Mike F.

Yelp
Probably the cleanest asian market we go to. They have one of the best selections of produce, meat and seafood available. Employees are really friendly and helpful. Large selections of all Asian foods and again CLEAN. I like this locations also it is close and the parking is good. Prices are very reasonable too.

Wanda M.

Yelp
A good selection of fresh produce. a counter with medicinal herbs and even a small section with housewares. They have a wonderfully diverse selection from live fish, and crustaceans..to Japanese steak or turkey flavored cheetos! I love to explore new things, the staff is friendly and helpful. the store is conveniently located near the Beaverton MAX station. Friendly helpful staff. many freezers full of noodles, pastries and meats. I enjoy exploring new things in this busy super market.. I mean really really new things.. forexample they sell duck tongues and pig tails... lots of things to try if you are adventurous and the prices are often better than Uwajimaya. It is nice that they also sell Carlton meat but you need to watch carefully because thy use Carlton signs on things that clearly are not from Carlton meats. It is not fancy, but you can expect consistently good quality at this supermarket.
google avatar

Arun S.

Yelp
Got stale fish once. Stopped going there unless there aren't any options available as much.
google avatar

James H.

Yelp
Asian Food Center stocks a lot of new and popular Chinese snacks that other stores in the Portland area does not. Definitely fun to see what they have every other week. What's good about AFC: - Hottest imported snacks - Good basics for the house - Veggies selection is plentiful - Never too busy What is meh: - Store is on the smaller side compared to Ranch 99, H Mart, etc.

Yelp
Opened in October as extension of the Bellevue WA based mother-ship store, this Chinese centric food market also has other Asian food specialty items. In the same way Beaverton located Uwajimaya, an extension of the Seattle based mother-ship store, is Japanese centric food market but also with other Asian food specialty items. Overall the scale of shopping in this bright and well organized store is a much better fit for me. I feel completely overwhelmed by the megastore size of Uwjimaya and more at home with size here if I'm looking for specialty food items from Chinese to Japanese to Thai. Prices on things I'm able to compare also seem better here. PRODUCE Yesterday I was on the hunt for Mosambi (sweet lime) and Gai-Lan (Chinese broccoli). They had both in the splendid produce department. My favorite part of the store, if there is a disappointment for produce it is the number of things that are in plastic wrapped trays or bags. As examples, although they had three kinds of Asian eggplant it was shrink wrapped in multiples and the Gai-Lan was in a plastic bag. I prefer selecting my own items and quantities. AISLES OF SPECIALTY PRODUCTS ON SHELVES AND FREEZER CASES It seems maybe ninety percent of shoppers had Asian heritage, which makes me feel as if the store is authentic in the same way an Italian food specialty market full of people of my hubby's Italian heritage would. Since I am largely clueless about how to cook Asian food delights, many of the items on the shelves were mysteries to me and I wished I knew more about them. (For example, how does one use those uber teeny little anchovies packed in chili oil?) For things I do know how to use, like rice vinegar or rice noodles or wood ear mushrooms or preserved daikon or soba, I was delighted by the number of options. I also appreciated that almost all labeling on shelf tags had English text as well as Asian language characters. FISH & MEAT The fish section, although not huge in size, contained an amazing choice of fresh whole fish with shiny bright eyes packed in ice. White bass, big tail section filet of halibut, Norwegian mackerel, catfish...maybe three dozen different kinds of fresh fish. Also live tanks for blue crab, Dungeness crab and lobster. My husband was amazed by the different cuts of pork in the butcher section. Having grown up in Brooklyn where Italian pork stores were part of the landscape, he was intrigued by how unique the meat cuts were here. On the rare occasions we purchase animal meats we like to know about the origins for sustainability and humane husbandry of the animals and that is something we didn't know how to ask about here. SERVICE The folks at the register were friendly and the young woman helping us spoke English far better than I speak the Chinese that is her first language, which is to say I speak Chinese not at all. Good for her. THIS N THAT: 1) OTHER: A small housewares section but not the selection of Uwajimaya. Also no prepared foods section in this store, which Uwajimaya has. . 2) PARKING: Big strip mall parking lot was mostly full of cars in spite of several vacant storefronts. Look for Catherine's Plus Sizes and Sally's Hair Supply as neighbors for this market. 3) ACCESSIBILITY: Accessible parking outside. Level in entry and throughout with plenty of space in aisles.

Yelp
Not sure what's up with the low reviews. I like this place. This place leans more toward chinese and if you break it up, it's much more understandable on types of ingredients they will commonly have outside of the general finds. They have specials everyday on meats. Come in at 10am. The veggies are also a great deal. I only buy herbs at Asian grocery stores now. You can get 4 times the amount for the same price than at Freddy's or Safeway. Here's how I like to keep tabs: Chinese - Asian Food Center and 99 Ranch. I come for veggies and specials on meat. Japanese/Hawaiian - Uwajimaya. pricier, but good quality and good foods. Korean - H Mart and Gobugi - great deals on rib eye, seafood at H Mart has best prices. Kim Chee and all ban chan (korean side dishes) are best at either.
google avatar

Kassandra A.

Yelp
Oh definitely one of my favorite go to stores now. I love how it's got a lot of my go to items. It's in a good area with lots of parking. Ramen, veggies and a lot of my fave frozen goodies. It's even got the household goods section.
google avatar

Mi N.

Yelp
Why doesn't this place have better reviews?! In its category (Chinese supermarkets), Asian Food Center blows Fubonn, Hong Phat, etc., out of the water! Asian Food Center perfectly compliments Uwajimaya and H-Mart in the East Asian Supermarket Trifecta. Highlights - Great selection of asian fruits and veggies - LIVE fish and fresh meats - Fun selection of household items and knick knacks - Herbal shop stand Despite being a small store, the curation of items is spot on with my grocery needs, with the plus of its tidy appearance and friendly workers (by asian standards).

Yelp
Nice variety and selection on Chinese foods. I was happy to see the variety of plum wines and sake too. The store is clean and well-organized, and I was able to find everything I needed without assistance. They have snacks/candy I have not seen elsewhere. I didn't notice much in the way of signage but was doing the "wander and look at everything" method of shopping so I might just not have seen it because I wasn't actively looking. As another reviewer mentioned, keep an eye on the product expiration dates; I was about to buy an item from a sale/clearance rack and noticed that it expired several months ago. Everything I did purchase was good quality and prices were reasonable. The plantains were delicious! I didn't see many staff other than the checkout counter; they were not "friendly" in the way I am used to with greetings and chit-chat, just seemed busy and focused, which was okay because checkout was very fast. I would shop here again if I'm looking for specialty items.

Yelp
Lots of good stuff for the asian household, aside from the fruits and vegetables that we like, they have bread from Asian bakeries as well. Lots of parking space too.
google avatar

RC C.

Yelp
Bought a package of noodles for about $5, at home, i noticed that the expiration day was 5 months ago. Careful with expired items at this store.

Yelp
Asian Food Center is officially my favorite Asian grocery store in Portland! After a trip to Vancouver, BC and being amazed at all the items at the T&T grocery stores there, I was elated to discover that Asian Food Center had everything that I wanted and more! Their selection of grocery items is amazing. They have all these different snacks, drinks, ramen, frozen dumplings, and abos! They even have Chinese medicine! If you like to shop on Yamibuy, you might be able to find some popular items here too. Would highly recommend coming here. During COVID times, they have a no mask no entry rule which I personally think is great and promotes the safety of their staff and customers that shop here.

Yelp
Food ... Asian food. Don't overthink this. The Asian Food Center should be the center of your shopping excursion for Asian food in Beaverton. There are some other choices, but what sets AFC apart isn't its Asian-ness or the food ... it's the fact that it is relatively clean for such a store and the prices are reasonable for the area. We stopped in for the usual assortment of exotic and not-so-exotic fruits and veggies that you just can't find at your local American Food Center. Along the way, we picked up some fish, meats, sauces, frozen dumplings, tofu, and spices that were needed for my household. Since 3/4 of my household is from Asia, it's especially comforting to find such a well-kept supermarket with many of the comfort foods from China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, and the rest of Southeast Asia. Asian Food Center is exactly that ... a center for food from Asia. Don't overthink this.

Yelp
My wife and I visited this store 2 weeks ago while we were celebrating her birthday in Portland, Oregon. My wife lost the diamond ring I bought for her by accident, and she was frustrated! I reported the incident to the store, and left my number before we returned to California. Several days later I received a phone call from the store, and I was told that a diamond ring was found inside the store. After viewing the picture of the ring my wife and I were certain that it was exactly her diamond ring. My wife was very happy, and we went back to the store last weekend to pick her ring up. Thank you, Asian Food Center, for your honesty and superb customer service! We love Portland very much, and my wife plans to celebrate her birthday again in Portland next year.

Yelp
H Mart is Korean, Uwajimaya is Japanese, Fubon is Vietnamese and Asian Food Center is Chinese. AFC is very similar to 99 Ranch - mostly a Chinese market with large sprinkles of Vietnamese and other South East Asian/other Asian foods. They have a big selection of produce and at a good price. Most of it seems solidly fresh (on par with H Mart though I think Uwajimaya might be more fresh). They have a wide selection of meats for cheap. My biggest complaint, which is the same with the every other Asian market (including Cali) is that they rarely carry my ultimate favorite instant noodles (Koka laksa). I had to buy 4 cases online to make up for it. They also have a good stock of snacks at good prices. They're also in a shopping center with HomeGoods, Petco and across from where I get my eyebrows done. There's tons of parking too. If I get homesick for Cantonese speaking people and need inspiration for some Chinese home cooking, I'll be sure to visit this place.

Yelp
This is a newish asian grocer where Marshalls used to be in a strip mall thats main claim to fame was a Petco and Red Robin. It seems priced between H mart and Uwajimaya. I was going to give this place 4 stars because as nice as it is, and as packed with good stuff, it is small. Then I saw the live seafood tanks! Is that live ells? Yes it was! Don't get me wrong, I am not going to eat them, but I did like watching them in the tank so easy 1 star for that. The produce was beautiful and the store had a nice selection of goods, I liked the layout. Not bad for a former Marshall's space.

Yelp
Yay! It's like having a Fubonn on the West side. After reading about it, I had to immediately check it out. Big, bright and clean - it has fresh produce, meat (also sliced meat ready for hot pot) and all the snacks and spices needed. Price is cheaper than Uwajimaya and it's a tad closer to where I usually shop so definitely a very nice addition for me. This store was built where Marshalls used to be. Parking might be tight (especially on the weekend) because I went during a weekday and it was pretty packed. The only thing they're lacking is ready-to-eat food/bakery stuff.

Yelp
If you're in the area this is a great place to stock up on Asian ingredients with a heavy focus on Chinese products. The produce selection here is very clean and upon inspection I did not see anything that looked rotten. I liked the refrigerated case where they have a selection of different types of herbs. I noticed they had perilla leaves, basil, sesame leaves, curry leaves, kafir lime leaves, mint, ngo om, culantro, cilantro, rau rom, rap ca and many more. Everything in the packages looked so fresh and all of the dates were properly marked. Since it is fall it is good to see they have some fall staples including big pumpkins at .29 a pound and some seasonal squash as well. There was a large selection of apples and pears including some Asian pears and apples. They also had fresh figs at $4.99 a pack which I decided to try and they were pretty good. The meat section is very diverse and you can find all sorts of products including... - Honeycomb Tripe - Frog legs - Chicken feet - Duck feet - Pigs feet - Pork tongue - Pork blood - Pork snout - Chicken liver - Black chicken There is a big area where there is a butcher and you should check out the prices. There were a lot of things that were on sale while I was there. There is also a seafood section with live seafood and they will clean your fish for you if you ask! That's a good thing if you are like me and hate having to deal with it! Their tea selection was pretty big and had a diverse selection including some teas you can find at local supermarkets. I liked that they had the Korean honey citron and honey jujube tea that are both good on a cold day. They have Sake of you are so inclined and I saw several brands I have not seen in other stores. They also have a selection of inexpensive red and white wines. I also noticed that they had a masil alcohol that I had in Korea and there was only one bottle left. If you are interested in Asian beers you have your pick. - Chang - Tiger - Ichiban - Singha - Asahi - Kingfisher - Sapporo There was a large selection of Mochi available and many were on sale. The selection of biscuits / cookies was a bit smaller than I imagined but it still had a lot of the traditional products you would find. If you like fried seaweed cookies try the I Mei Fried Seaweed cookie. In regards to sweets, they had tropical flavored Hi-Chew! I like this and can usually only find the regular mix. I also saw Botan Rice candy in a bag instead of the traditional green box. They have Japanese Pocky, Korean Pepero and Pejoy which is also made my the same company that makes Pocky. I noticed they had a lot of choices of Pejoy and I will try some next time. I like soft flour cakes and noticed they had a big display of them on sale. They go really well with a cup of tea. The selection of ramen was really big and they had all kinds of instant noodles including some from Japan, China, Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia and others. They are available in packs, separate or in both large or small bowls. There is a good selection of rice and they even have several choices of brown and black rice. There is so much more that this store has to check out. It's clean and the staff were helpful. It was a very pleasant experience. I also think the prices were better than Uwajimaya down the road.

Yelp
I like the fact that you can hop off the Max/bus, grab a few veggies, oolong tea and tea biscuits, and hop back on the bus at the Beaverton Transit Center. The prices are good but the customer service is severely lacking, in my experiences. My very last visit was yesterday. Enough. I spend my dollars where everyone (not just your money) is welcomed.

Yelp
Do not buy fruits or produce from this store. I bought a box of mango that were okey looking outside but rotten and almost black on the inside and they refused to take it back even to give some sort of instore credit for exchange. I asked the cashier for a manager so I can explain better since they can't speak very well English and the cashier said she was the manager. I can understand one or two rotten fruit in the box , I would have just let it pass but the whole box was practically rotten. She said you only have one day to return food products , I understand that but you should take it in context and level of fairness for customers ,as if I will open 16 pieces of mangoes all in one day. No consumer protection here . I used to go here for Asian products all the time but If I can avoid it , I will no longer give them my service since they obviously don't play fair.

Yelp
This asian store is comparable to most asian grocery stores in the portland area. Definitely smaller than Fubonn, but cleaner and less smelly than most asian stores. Fruits and veggies are reasonably priced. The one issue I had was that I needed to buy ginger and they only sold ginger in a bag with several roots in it (priced per pound). It is hard for me to finish even one ginger root before it goes bad, so having to buy in larger quantities is not practical for me. Moving on, they sell other things here as well. They sell asian hair dyes (but Palty not among the selection when I visited), chinese sheet masks, and eating utensils. Overall a pleasant experience. The staff was very friendly and helpful

Yelp
This is a great addition to this mall. Now we can have dim sum, sushi, and shop in the same mall. Being from an area where Asian food and markets barely exist at any higher level of quality, this market seems like nirvana. When we come to PDX, we like to stay on the Beaverton-Lake Oswego side of town, so we feel like we hit the bullseye with this new market. Clean, well stocked, and mostly Chinese centric (compared to Japanese centric, Uwijamiya), this really fits our likes. They have every type of noodle, seasoning, sauce, and tofu product, especially dried ones. And any Chinese market that carries over a dozen types of sausages (lop cheongs), dried salted fish (hom yui), and salted duck eggs is authentic in my book. And one day, I'll show fellow Yelper and friend, Michele R., how to use those tiny anchovies in oil. ;-) Great looking meat counter, fresh fish, and specialties. No Chinese roasted meats or fowl, as far as I could see, though. They still do mostly the Saran wrapped veggies, but not exclusively. But I'd rather select my own and amount. Small selection of cookware, but pretty diverse. They did have clay pots at a lot cheaper price tha Amazon. Hooray for them. I would love for them to have Chinese takeout and roasted meats. So I can't give them 5 stars until then. If we lived near a real Chinese market with authentic takeout and roasted meats/fowls, I'd probably forget how to cook Chinese food. Service is good. Checkout is fast. Again, a great addition to the area. Too bad we don't have enough Chinese to bring one to Boise, since the Chinese once were a heavy percentage of Boise in the post gold rush days.

Yelp
This store is unkept, prices are ringing up differently from what were on the tags. Staff are disrespectful and arrogant. I was there on December 25 and saw that they had Sake for $9.99 each. We went ahead and got 2 bottles and it rang up at $13.99 each. We asked the cashier to walk with us back to the sake department and she saw the tags at $9.99 with correct description and size configuration. This same cashier told us "Well, it is $13.99 because when we scanned the barcode, it says $13.99." I told her to call her manager, she went back to the office for about 10 minutes and Donna, the manager came out of the store with the tag and said " We cannot give it to you for $9.99 because the barcode is $13.99 and the even though the price tag and description matches the $9.99 tag price." No apologies whatsoever, we immediately left the store and went to Uwajimaya. I will gladly pay a higher price in Uwajimaya than deal with dishonest fools at Asian Food Center.
