How To Spend A Day In Oakland Chinatown: Community Spaces, Restaurants, Shops, & More

"Throughout Chinatown, you’ll spot several buildings belonging to Asian Health Services. Founded in 1974, AHS clinics ensure access to health care for the AAPI populations regardless of language, income, insurance, or immigration status. It’s a pillar in the community and a reminder that immigrants continue to rely on services offered in Chinatowns." - daphne wu

I am disgusted by this doctors group. I was 10 minutes late to my son’s appointment. They refused to see him because their doctors went to lunch. My son is 4 and has bronchitis and they wouldn’t see him. They showed zero compassion, were completely inflexible, and obviously don’t care about their patients. Their policy is to allow for a 10 min grace period. They lied and said I was 12 mins late so they could go to lunch instead of treating a toddler with bronchitis. Avoid at all costs and send to another pediatrician that cares about children.

My dad used to get medical services here, if your parents go here be mindful of the quack doctors in this place. My dad now has late stage Parkinson's disease, when his symptoms first started the doctor he saw here told him his hand tremors were normal and it was because he was getting old. Had I known better I would not have trusted this diagnosis and taken my dad to another place. Shame on this doctor who's name I don't know and shame on the Asian Health Services administrators for hiring such a quack! Wish I could give this place zero stars.

Parking is hard to find ' is why only 4 star. But staff members and Dr nurses. Always happy even speaking in Asian talking. Don't be discouraged other nationalities. They don't judge here. I mean come on some nice lady say nice hair to me a man w/o hair except bangs on front. See in pic.

LGBTQ friendly. Black friendly. Pretty solid place. I'm black and they made me feel welcomed. Didn't wait long at all although I had an appointment. Had a new doctor and she was attentive and kind. I'd go back.

I recieved a miss call so I'm calling back to ask because i don't know why they called me but the front dest agent talked to me so rude. What the hell is that when you didn't why you have a miss call and try to ask why but that stupid women talking to me as I'm a stupid person. All she need to say is that phone call was a appmt reminder but she didn't say that at the first and she keep yelling at me. I said why you had to be rude like that? I'm just asking. She said yah thank you bla bla . Can't image why hospital staff talking like that to the patient.

The service is really slow and the staff treat people like you're nothing. Also, when you call the emergency number, they don't pick up. I'm considering switching to a new health provider.

AHS is a great place to recieve health care in your local neighborhood. Their staff are the best in cultural competence and liguistically accessible.
