A Husband and Wife Duo Are Bringing Asian Street Food to Avanti in October - Eater Denver

"An Asian street food counter with roots on the east coast will soon be setting up shop inside LoHi’s Avanti Food & Beverage food hall and restaurant incubator. Chef Kenneth Wan and his wife, Doris, started Meta Asian Kitchen as a pop-up operation that would show up at various food markets and events around New Jersey and New York. The counter’s signature item will be the Mama Wan’s, a rice bowl topped with braised pork belly and pickled vegetables. The menu will also feature shareable bites such as the bao buns and homemade chicken dumplings, Hong Kong street cakes, popcorn chicken for the kids, and a brunch noodle bowl offered on weekends." - Paul Albani-Burgio

Google
Requested my wings fried hard they arrived greasy and soggy. The fried wonton has little to no meat inside them. I'm not sure how but all the food tatse the same. No flavor at all. My order arrived 20 minutes later than promised by grubhub and everything was cold. I will say although the food lacked flavor I did notice that it was fresh. And my egg foo young had tons of shrimp in it. Just wish it had more seasoning

Watch where ya park, Mikey got a ticket pinned to his chest with a stapled gun by Tony Soprano here in season 1. Happy 25th Anniversary Tony.

Really bad chinese food. I tried it twice just in case they were having an off day and the second time was worse than the first. Their fried rice is awful and the chicken broccoli was bland and had an odd smell and flavor. We threw it out! Subpar food, almost to the point where it could make you sick.

Been ordering from here for years...I just placed an order worth over $40 to be delivered 1 block and still tipped. And you have the nerve to call me and tell me I have to pay an extra $1 because I asked for BBQ sauce on the fries?! Are you kidding me?! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. For that $1, you just lost a customer.. congratulations.

Google
They gave me bones in garlic sauce so sad I even took a photo of it👿. And after I asked about cheese wonton being sweet n having veggies n they telling me no veggies n they are sweet cheese. LIES!! I paid for trash. Not what I wanted at all. First and last time ordering here.

Yelp
Glad this place. Came here on a Monday on a late afternoon with no one in life. Was in and out super quick with the food piping hot. Ordering and cooking was very quick even though near closing time. Would recommend trying this place over if craving Chinese food late night.

Yelp
Ordered delivery and fried rice is somehow dry, and chicken tastes like it's been sitting there a long time: the freshest thing on this plate is sadly the sesame seeds. Are there any good American Chinese places left? Two stars because their wontons were good.

Yelp
I was a little hesitant to order for here due to the fact that they have low stars but honestly I do not regret it at all. The food came within a good amount of time. Everything we ordered was there and the food tasted very good and fresh. I highly recommend eating from here and whenever I am in the area again I will make sure to do so. Thank you!

Yelp
I been ordering from here for years and they never disappointed me and my family. They deliver very fast continuously and have great service. Food is always good we love this place‼

Yelp
Disgusting. Trader Joe's makes better Chinese food than this. Save your money and order from anyone else.

Yelp
Seamless always has rave reviews on this place. Also a couple of coworkers always choose this spot over the four other Chinese takeout spots nearby. I had to try. Delivery was fast and friendly. Food was really good. I had chicken and broccoli and a shrimp egg roll. Fresh and great portions. The shrimp roll was like actual shrimp, not shredded bits like some places. Will order again when I am craving takeout. Thanks Asian Kitchen!

Yelp
Poor customer service food was delivered incorrectly merchant refused to issue a refund The delivery guy didn't even leave his car nor did he come to my building to deliver my food properly. In addition to all of the above the driver called me to harass me about food that was thrown in the trash Stay away from this restaurant

Yelp
In an effort to nail down "our" Chinese restaurant in the neighborhood, we ordered from here. The food was just ok. Decent wonton soup, the dog loved the spare ribs. That's about it. That part that super p*ssed me off was that fortune cookies are NOT INCLUDED. They are 50 cents extra, Excuse me? Are these less-than-one-cent complimentary items too much for you? The ones that EVERY OTHER CHINESE RESTAURANT SENDS OUT WITH THEIR ORDERS? Then don't be a Chinese take-out restaurant. Your food officially sucks. We'll keep looking.

Yelp
I live across the street 2 houses down from here. The food is good, yet expensive. We got dinner delivered (yup, we're lazy lol) cause we didnt want to go outside and when the delivery guy came he got upset cause we only gave him a .50 cent tip so he yelled at my brother, "what no tip?!" I told my brother he should 've asked for the change back!

Yelp
I called them about five minutes before they closed on a Sunday night (shame on me, i know). They were polite, prompt, and the food was tasty. I ordered five vegetable egg rolls (which were nice and thick, not skimpy, but tasted average), large roast pork fried rice (delicious, lots of chopped onions which i don't mind but some may), steamed pork dumplings (AMAZING. Like the shumai you get from quality Chinese and Japanese restaurants), and a couple cans of Sprite. They threw in a free, medium sweet tea that was delish as well. The delivery driver was also polite. They are now my Chinese delivery of choice, and the price was OK ($22). There was a $2 delivery fee, which i didn't mind under the circumstances, but most Chinese delivery places offer free delivery. Also, they don't give out fortune cookies.

Yelp
This was our first time ordering from here, we are new to Jersey. The food was terrible. We got chicken lo mein-- the noodles were really soggy it tasted like mush. We also got Kung Po chicken and it tasted like the lo mein-- soggy and flavorless. You could just tell the food quality wasn't there. We ended up throwing out the food. I will not order from here again.

Yelp
We ordered our food for delivery, no problem. When the driver got here, he could not find our address and called several times. When I tried to give him the correct address (as I could see him through the window) he hung up the phone because he did not speak English. When I flagged him down from the window and told him to bring the food up (to the 2nd floor) he began yelling at me and saying that he parked his car "illegal" and then he began to go back to his car with my food order! Someone ran downstairs before he left with our food, and then he tried to give a price that was higher than the price reflected on the receipt... Needless to say, he did not get a tip. WE WILL NEVER ORDER HERE AGAIN!
