This is the red potato hash from the breakfast menu. I thought I would elevate by asking for salmon to go with this meal, felt like it was the only thing missing. Ideally I would like the salmon under the eggs but this is just as well! It was delicious & I'm happy they could give me what I was asking for even though it's not how the plate originally comes. I loved it and plan on eating it more often.

Google
Enjoyed a late lunch. We had coconut shrimp, shrimp tacos and chicken fried steak. All was good as well as the gumbo. Our hostess Summer was great. Great view of the lake we will definitely be back. Hand made drinks.

We went to Asiel‘s on veterans Day and it was such a great experience. We were seated right away and our waiter was very kind and accommodating. All of our meals came out super quickly and were really delicious. We can’t wait to go back!

Google
Great food and great pricing. We wanted to try multiple meals: shrimp, donut burger, mac and cheese burger, chicken waffle monte cristo, catfish, four cheese pasta, and appetizer plate. The average price for each was about $14.

Google
We hadn't been here for lunch in awhile. I had the Burger n Fries lunch special, my husband had the Meatloaf. Very good food, price and service. We also love their all you can eat fried shrimp on Fridays and Saturdays. Awesome to have this gem near our home. My review pics also show the Lunch Special menu.

Google
Really good home food. Awesome chicken fried steak that isn't made from frozen. The cheese sticks are awesome! Update: May 17, 2024 Really good breakfast. They even have fresh orange juice, made by a lady at the front. It's awesome!!!!

Google
A must stop place if you are in the Lake Jackson area! The breakfast is delicious and you get a lot. Plus, they have a cute lil history area about a mammoth fossil that was found in the lake.

Yelp
Asiel's is a hole in the wall dining experience with a fascinating backstory that adds to its charm. The highlight of its unique history is the display of a giant mammoth skull discovered in the nearby body of water, which is an incredible piece of local history that makes this restaurant stand out and sparks plenty of conversation. The service we received at Asiel's was outstanding, thanks to our friendly and attentive waitress. She made sure we had everything we needed and added a warm, welcoming touch to our visit. It's always great to feel genuinely cared for while dining out, and the staff here certainly know how to make guests feel at home. Portion sizes at Asiel's are impressively generous and perfect for anyone with a hearty appetite. The shrimp plate, in particular, was a standout. The shrimp were fresh and flavorful, though admittedly a touch over-seasoned. Even so, it remained a satisfying and well-prepared dish that we'd gladly order again. Overall, Asiel's offers a memorable blend of history, good service, and hearty meals that make it worth a visit. Whether you're drawn in by the unique décor or looking for a satisfying bite, it's a place that delivers on both.

Yelp
Asiles is the best! Our server was the nicest lady ever and helped so much! It felt like we were at grandmas house and they were just taking the best care of us. As far as food goes we got the sampler app with boudin balls, fried pickles and fried mushrooms and it was all so good! My favorite was the boudin balls that were the best I may have ever had. There are only three of them is the only problem ! The side with my dish was loaded baked potatoes and they were soooo good!! It may have had to do something with the puddle of butter but the bacon, cheese and sour cream all helped too! Desserts: we got the fried Oreos with strawberry ice cream, half baked cookie and the apple pie egg rolls! My personal favorite is the apple pie egg rolls.. they are covered in cinnamon and sugar with applied pie and caramel filling served with ice cream... I dream about these!

Yelp
Not a breakfast person here. I did not know breakfast was till 10:30. I asked for the chicken strip basket and was told no twice. They already had everything out for breakfast that came with the chicken strip basket, including white gravy, toast, and a side of French fries, all on the breakfast menu. They had chicken and waffles, so they had the chicken. But the waitress refused to put in the order. It makes zero sense.

Danek C.

Yelp
Food was ok overall. It's a little over priced imo, but the donut burger was legit I must say.

Weston C.

Yelp
Great food and fun ambience. Service can be slow so don't come if you're busy! We enjoy the fish tacos and burgers.

Kevin S.

Yelp
Excellent food, very tasty and filling, definitely comfort food. I got the buffalo chicken salad and I have to say that I recommend. Fast and quick service, also a cool looking place with a nice atmosphere.

Lucaso L.

Yelp
Banana Bread is amazing. Very kind and helpful staff. I have never had a bad meal here.

Connie C.

Yelp
This is our go-to lunch spot. Last week we had fries with our lunch specials and they were crispy on the outside and tender inside. My husband had the French dip and the au jus was over reduced, thick and salty. My fried shrimp yummy. This week the fries were greasy which made us sad. The fried shrimp is fresh and delicious. My husband had the patty melt that was really good and messy so get more napkins!

Linda N.

Yelp
Best Breakfast anywhere in Lake Jackson-Clute area. Biscuit and Gravy - YUM, Pancakes yummier! Good selection! Great Service! Nice seating! Priced right!

Jennifer H.

Yelp
Yes please!!! The best biscuits and sausage gravy ever!! It is hard to find a good gravy at a restaurant and this one has mastered it. Order this with a side of sausage and you are made! We also had pumpkin pancakes which were "fall heaven"!

Alix B.

Yelp
Super food and very fast , friendly service. When I'm in Lake Jackson, I always try to eat there.

Melissa B.

Yelp
This is my favorite breakfast spot in town. The service is always so friendly and the atmosphere is very family friendly and peaceful. My favorite breakfast is the chicken, biscuits and gravy but I haven't tried anything I don't like. I always get the fresh squeezed juice - I like the orange, pineapple and ginger combo that is packed with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits for your gut and body.

Jeffrey B.

Yelp
if you are craving some breakfast I would %100 recommend this place. delicious food, excellent service. Skip Dennys and IHOP and go to Asiel's. Support local businesses and stop going to chain restaurants when you're able!

Carol D.

Yelp
Place was filthy - lots of flies, cobwebs in the windows, dirty windowsills; bathrooms not clean. Waitress got our order wrong; food was hot but not well-seasoned. Would never eat here again.

David P.

Yelp
Very nice place, nothing fancy, but the food was very good and service was attentive and polite! Would recommend and would dine with them again next time in area! Next time ideally weather better and patio open!!

Alexis J.

Yelp
Not bad at all. Solid food with good service. I enjoyed the all you can eat shrimp. The loaded mashed potatoes were really good! Drinks were meh. It sits on the water, so you can sit on the patio to enjoy that view. Otherwise, the restaurant decor is pretty standard.

Andrea O.

Yelp
This used to be one of my favorite places to eat, but was a huge disappointment today! The tables, floor, and room were all very dirty. Flies were landing on our table and they did not have the ingredients to make the food that we wanted to order. The restaurant was not busy at all, and they were out of the waffle mix to make Monte Cristos. I decided to give the burger a try, but it came out smelling weird and tasting very bland. I went to the bathroom to wash my hands and the bathroom door was so sticky when my arm touched it. There was hardly any soap to wash with. I had read bad reviews that this place had gotten dirty and rundown, but wanted to give them another try since we've always liked it. We will not be coming again.

Deanna W.

Yelp
The food here is ok. My biggest complaint would be that they need to do a deep clean. Maybe the ventilation needs looked at. Everything feels and looks greasy. Someone in our party wiped the table top down with wipes because of their small children and it was really dirty. I know this is a popular restaurant and food is not bad. Just do some spring cleaning!

Heather L.

Yelp
Excellent food and service. Service is always good and welcoming. The Texas Trash is amazing and enough for two to dine.

Francesca H.

Yelp
Fantastic Fish Tacos! Delicious!! Instead of fries, Id love it if they came with avocado and lime. Or a third fish taco. Service is cool. However, when picking up an order to go I have to walk to the bar in back, then wait for the bartender to finish their friendly conversation with the guests.(that's good) A more efficient way for pickup would be appreciated.

Jose G.

Yelp
I have mixed feelings about this place. Not sure if we will return or not, not enough negative to scratch from our list, but maybe not enough to draw us back. The restaurant has a pretty cool theme, situated next to this lake allows for a great view. The deck at the back could be much nicer, has a cheap and outdated feel. Maybe some nice reggae or similar music would give it a nice ambiance. The food, while creative, was just a race to the ER with their gut busting artery clogging options. My kids had donut burger kid meals, fun I guess, but a little excessive. I had the grilled cheese burger (burger stacked between two grilled cheese sandwiches) not as good or fun as it sounds. Too much bread and inadequate amount of or poor quality cheese. The onion rings were good. Wife had the chili burger, tasted like something from sonic drive in. Service was lack luster, not rude, but definitely disinterested in the customer. As I write this review, I realize we'll probably not make the drive back to this place. If it was around the corner from us (we're in Santa Fe) I would probably try again. There are ways to be creative with food that don't require obsessive amounts of frying or sugar.

Rosalind C.

Yelp
This is based on my food order only. The service was good and the place overall is nice. We came here on Father's day after we left a beach house in Freeport. It was on the way home and we wanted to stop before everyone went their separate ways. I ordered the strawberry salad. The majority of the table had breakfast. I also added a popping punch because they have a slect HH on Sundays. The salad was eh. The chicken was dry and the salad dreasing wasn't that tasty. I have had a version of this salad many times because its one of my favorite salads but this wasn't it. Everyone else in my party enjoyed the breakfast. I would try it again i would just go with something else.

Dana M.

Yelp
Food is outstanding. The service is always on point. Sitting in the back overlooking the water is a definite plus

Sherman M.

Yelp
Fun place with lots of menu choices. Treated like we ate there every day and we make this place a supper destination for entertaining guestz

Pam N.

Yelp
June 12, 2024 we visited this restaurant for lunch. We have eaten here several times prior and food & service has always been great. We took some first time guests and it was a big disappointment. The service was not good, the food was cold, the wait to get our food was extremely long. One order was not filled and the guest wasn't informed until the food was served to the rest of the table. The manager wasn't there to speak with. Several issues were handled inappropriately. We paid our ticket and hate that we won't eat there again. On vacation, can't risk .

Stephanie B.

Yelp
Food was beet good Dog friendly patio They could trim the trees a little to see more water. Turtles were out sunbathing. Brunch Punch special menu was deceiving- $5 till 2pm Charged $7 for margaritas- no prices on the menu and when asked if menu was $5, waiter said yes. Did Not specify some on the brunch drinks were more. Manager apologized and adjusted the bill...just know there are No prices on the drink menu..so we feel that is deceiving the customer/ be aware, and ask how much everything by is. Liked the Tabasco honey too (another extra charge) Banana bread very good! Had Texas trash and egg quesadilla..again very good.

Yelp
While visiting Freeport I was recommended to try Asiel's. Lately I haven't received accurate reviews on restaurants so I thought I'd ignore any negative comments. Entering the restaurant I was greeted by a friendly and welcoming hostess. The restaurant was spacious and the atmosphere relaxed. Once seated the warmth continued with our wonderful waitress. My Cajun meatloaf was good, but it could have been a bit warmer, and my margarita was just ok. All in all I would recommend this restaurant and I look forward to returning someday.

Kimberly P.

Yelp
We were in town for my Dad's 60th class reunion. Two from Frisco Tx, Two from Killeen and me from Austin. We happened on this local spot and we all highly recommend if you are looking for a very GOOD brunch spot. The service was excellent both days we went. The wait staff courteous and friendly. This quaint restaurant is on a small lake called Mammoth lake. Where they actually found mammoth bones. Bon Appetite!

Susan H.

Yelp
Glad we looked this place up before heading out. Got there around 10am and we needed somewhere with a good food and a patio that we could hang for awhile before hitting Surfside for the week. Angelica, our waitress was very nice and attentive. The bartender was very nice too and was very quick in fixing me a Bloody Mary. Also ordered a pitcher of Mimosaronno with pineapple juice(Happy that was able to take 1/2 to go in a sealed container). The breakfast was good, but feel that the sausage gravy could have been better. We ended up staying through lunch. Hubby was happy with catfish and I really enjoyed my coconut shrimp. Will be back.

Yelp
There are a lot of mixed reviews about this establishment and as far as the bad reviews go, if the manager wasn't aware of the problem then the review is worthless. The management should always be aware of issues that arise so they can take corrective measures to insure the issue doesn't happen again. We decided to give it a try after a day of diving because we were hungry and because we are always up for a new spot. We all ordered sweet tea which was really good, 5 glasses good to be exact and a to go cup. Took a good look at the lunch and breakfast menus before making the final decision, breakfast is served until 2pm on the weekends. We ordered a total of 4 entrees that were all great. Texas Trash - 8/10 Two biscuits, split-topped, hand-battered chicken breasts covered with 2 farm fresh eggs, smothering with sausage gravy & served with home fries $13.00 This dish was awesome, biscuits & gravy with fried chicken and eggs, it is a must try. Shrimp Bang-Bang - 8/10 Gulf coast panko, parmesan-crusted deep-fried shrimp drizzled with our secret Bang-Bang sauce, served with two sides & hush puppies. $14.00 The bang bang sauce was really good with a little heat and plenty of flavor paired with perfectly cooked shrimp made it a phenomenal dish. Had fries and green beans as the sides, both were really good. Fried Fish Basket - 7/10 Catfish hand-battered, served with handcut fries, housemade slaw & hush puppies. $12.50 The catfish was fried to perfection, it had a great flavor and a good crunch. Had mac & cheese instead of the slaw, yummy. The fries are really good along with the hush puppies. French Toast - 6/10 Six delectable triangles of challah bread. $6.50 What's not to love, it was good French toast. The customer service was on point, our waitress Charro was killing it, empty glasses didn't happen at our table and she was always there when needed, all this while being fully packed. The fossil exhibit is a nice touch while waiting to be seated. A replica of Asiel, the woolly mammoth skulll found in the lake is also on display. Overall this is a great place with great food, definitely worth a visit to see for yourself.

Amber S.

Yelp
I've been here twice now on my way back to Houston from Surfside. It feels like one of those places you go to as a tradition! I always ask to sit by the wall with the lakeside view, which is never a problem considering how big the place is--and plenty of parking too! I got the blackened fish tacos last time and the blackened shrimp tacos with a margarita this time ($3 during happy hour). Everything here has been fantastic, though I prefer the shrimp tacos because they load them up with elote and spicy mayo! The onion rings here are so crispy too. And the marg flavor was very strong. They are super generous all around with the food and drink here. Don't forget to stop by the patio out back before leaving for a better view of the lake!!

Jerod W.

Yelp
Went here for the first time was excited great menu .... Waited 50 minutes for a patty melt only to be told the ticket was never put in ... decided to leave and asked for the manager on duty to give some advice on the poor service and follow up only to be told my server was the manager on duty ... horrible service and wasn't very busy staff seemed lost but good looked good

Jp P.

Yelp
One of the best places the whole area to eat. Outstanding food and atmosphere. The service is great too.

Rachel H.

Yelp
Definitely a busy spot. We are here while we waited on our son's scuba class at mammoth lake. I would say I would have preferred a little more seasoning but the portions are generous

Genny D.

Yelp
Really interesting menu. Tried the Onion Soup Pork Chops and was not disappointed. Hope to get there soon on Bacon night on a Wednesday).

KassandraIrene G.

Yelp
They have great tasting food. My favorite juice on the breakfast menu, and is a must try, is the morning glory.

David R.

Yelp
My first visit to Asiel's , was a success. Neat and clean are a couple of things that's very noticeable. Friendly hostess too! Emaly was a great waitress! She suggested several different dish. I went with Chicago Burger. Texas toast for the bun is always a good thing. Cheese, grilled onions and steak sauce made for a great burger (patty melt)! They offered 1/2 fries and 1/2 onion rings, you can't go wrong there !! When in Clute / Lake Jackson, you can't go wrong going to Asiel's. Go get Full

Jamie M.

Yelp
Very nice wait staff. They have "specials" like bacon night and our favorite $2 taco/margarita night on Thursdays. Breakfast is also the best in town. Price is fair.

Lisa M R.

Yelp
Nothing special but willing to give another try There's always plenty of cars in parking lot

Rachel S.

Yelp
We used to love this place when it first opened.......but the food was different this last time. Onion rings use to be handmade and they are not anymore. Waiter said it was under new management. Were not happy with the food, but we were comparing it the the before. Unless they is a need, we won't be visiting again. I hate it when restaurants decide to make changes and make a bigger menu, but so takes away from being original.

Terry D.

Yelp
Tried the coconut chicken. So yummy!! The place was packed but service was friendly and faster than you would expect on such a busy evening.

Javy S.

Yelp
Great food and great service! The breakfast here is awesome! Waitress Charro is awesome!

Lillie S.

Yelp
I ordered to go on line based on reviews . At arrival food was ready . We were not impressed with the food but it could be personal taste. I give 5 stars to the staff very friendly and courteous.

April A.

Yelp
Second time here while vacationing. Just as good as last year. This time we got chicken fried chicken and chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and fried okra. Also ordered mimosaronnos, a twist on a mimosa, which was lovely. Would definitely get again. We'll be back next year, or maybe again this week if this danged hurricane doesn't move out soon!

Tyler Y.

Yelp
One of the best restaurants in town - some very unique food like the donut burger - bacon Wednesday's - the EPIC breakfast... very nice waiters and waitresses... great place to eat

Andrew P.

Yelp
Ordered twice takeout 1st time waited 15 min after the time they quoted me 2nd time today and order was wrong waited 35 min for them to remake. Then there's a item missing. Only said sorry no compensation or discount for my inconvenience. Sorry doesn't fix the problem !

Sara S.

Yelp
Don't miss an Asiel's breakfast taco!! This is a classic, comfortable place to get an amazing meal anytime!

Matthew J.

Yelp
About 50% of the menu is good 50% of the time. Very inconsistent. Service is usually slow. Location is nice and kept clean.
