There are a lot of mixed reviews about this establishment and as far as the bad reviews go, if the manager wasn't aware of the problem then the review is worthless. The management should always be aware of issues that arise so they can take corrective measures to insure the issue doesn't happen again.
We decided to give it a try after a day of diving because we were hungry and because we are always up for a new spot.
We all ordered sweet tea which was really good, 5 glasses good to be exact and a to go cup.
Took a good look at the lunch and breakfast menus before making the final decision, breakfast is served until 2pm on the weekends.
We ordered a total of 4 entrees that were all great.
Texas Trash - 8/10
Two biscuits, split-topped, hand-battered chicken breasts covered with 2 farm fresh eggs, smothering with sausage gravy & served with home fries $13.00
This dish was awesome, biscuits & gravy with fried chicken and eggs, it is a must try.
Shrimp Bang-Bang - 8/10
Gulf coast panko, parmesan-crusted deep-fried shrimp drizzled with our secret Bang-Bang sauce, served with two sides & hush puppies. $14.00
The bang bang sauce was really good with a little heat and plenty of flavor paired with perfectly cooked shrimp made it a phenomenal dish. Had fries and green beans as the sides, both were really good.
Fried Fish Basket - 7/10
Catfish hand-battered, served with handcut fries, housemade slaw & hush puppies. $12.50
The catfish was fried to perfection, it had a great flavor and a good crunch. Had mac & cheese instead of the slaw, yummy. The fries are really good along with the hush puppies.
French Toast - 6/10
Six delectable triangles of challah bread. $6.50
What's not to love, it was good French toast.
The customer service was on point, our waitress Charro was killing it, empty glasses didn't happen at our table and she was always there when needed, all this while being fully packed.
The fossil exhibit is a nice touch while waiting to be seated. A replica of Asiel, the woolly mammoth skulll found in the lake is also on display.
Overall this is a great place with great food, definitely worth a visit to see for yourself.
