I’ve been an Aslan fan for years now. I generally love their beers, love that they’re organic, and I think their food is easily the best brewery food in town. My experience this past weekend, however, was surprisingly lacking.
Our party of 3 came in for a late dinner at 8 pm, two hours before close. The place was very empty, a few parties seated inside, a few outside. From what I could tell, there were two servers (so each responsible for approximately 3 tables). Our host was nice, seated us right away, and other than it being chilly inside, we were happy and excited to be there.
We ended up sitting there for over 10 minutes before a server came over to greet us and take our drink orders. It was so baffling given how empty the place was. To be honest, we almost got up and left. At one point, my partner got up to go ask the host if we had to order at the bar, thinking that maybe we were missing something because we were so confused as to why no one was coming over. The host said no, there’s table service, and then we still waited another several minutes before our server came over. We just felt super neglected and put off, especially given all of my other Aslan experiences have been fantastic.
Fortunately, the food was incredible as always—those Luna fries are a standout—as were the beers. I just hope their servers never let a party feel so disregarded in the future because I know they’re capable of better.
