Very good food! Probably the best Thai food in the area in my opinion. Tasted very fresh and flavorful. The sweet chili sauce is a 10/10. Will be coming back to try other options. We got the Pad Thai and Sesame Chicken and not pictured was the Calamari which was breaded perfectly

Food and atmosphere were great! We got the roll platter and the pho and it was delicious. Service was a little slow especially for a Thursday night that wasn’t busy. But over all, if you’re looking for a great place to eat, this is it!

Pretty space with comfortable seating. The waitress, Courtney K, (hey Courtney🤩) was kind, patient, friendly and just a beast in general! The food! I love this food! I highly recommend! Visit! ❤️❤️

We stumbled upon Asparagus for a weekday lunch, and while it looked promising as an upscale Asian restaurant, the experience fell short. Despite the restaurant being nearly empty, it still took a while for us to be seated, which wasn’t a great start. I ordered my go-to dish, Drunken Noodles, expecting the bold, spicy flavors it’s known for—but unfortunately, it was completely bland and lacked any spice. Overall, we were very disappointed with our food, and it is definitely not worth the price.

First time here and had a wonderful meal and excellent service. Our waiter was very helpful in choosing from the menu. Will definitely return.

Nicely decorated restaurant with good service. The avocado roll was an interesting take, yet quite tasty. The drunken noodles were a mess of tasteless noodles without any Asian spices.

The service is pretty hit-or-miss. Sometimes it's amazing, and sometimes it leaves a lot to be a desire. My most recent dining experience was the latter. The service wasn't great, but the food is always amazing. We had to look for our server. A few times he definitely forgot a drink..... It wasn't busy at all, I think he's just maybe not the best server. When you are spending what you spend there. I do expect an upper level type of service. But again, the drink was amazing. The appetizers were phenomenal, & the food excellent!

AWESOME Food! AWESOME Service! Asparagus is an AWESOME Restaurant! I will definitely be going back! Myself and 5 others went Sunday 11/3/24 at 1pm ish. We had the egg roll platter which was great! My favorites were the chicken egg roll, avocado egg roll and asparagus cheese and bacon egg roll. I had the garlic chicken and vegetables, that came with white rice. It was excellent. I also tried the chicken fried rice and beef fried rice and both were great! I also tried the Chicken Pad Thai and I think that was my favorite! The amount of food you get for the price is worth it. I have enough leftovers for 2 days!!!

Food is amazing!!! The Baked salmon has so much flavor! Lamb shoulder is top tier! Perfect for date night or business meeting!

I have been going here to eat for almost as long as they have been open. My favorite by far is the seafood panang but thats not to say that I have ever had anything I was disappointed with. For beef its the Grand Marnier beef stew. For vegans the Nutty stir fry rocks. All the appetizers are a great start. These are just a couple off the top of my head. They also make a great vodka martini. Service is friendly, accomodating, attentive, and well trained.You also have a choice of dining room or high top lounge tables. A great place for any occasion.

Pad tai is to die for. The ambiance needs an update or a good cleaning. Service is always attentive

AMAZING Food! Good Service! Asparagus is an Great Restaurant! I'll absolutely be returning! Myself and 5 friends visited Sunday 11/3/24 around 1pm. Our family loves Asparagus. The light, open dining areas create a sense of elegance while the food and service are top notch. Our group ordered Parmesan chicken tempura, Five Spiced Duck, and Pineapple Cashew Stir Fry. All meals were cooked to perfection. The portions are always generous as well. Cannot say enough about how great the meal was.

I really really love this place. A gem within Merrillville... The interior is so nicely done. The service was top notch. Great recommendations from our server. He hit the target every time. So personable and funny. The food... delicious. It is a bit on the pricey side but I'm always willing to pay top dollar for great food. Especially if the service is to match. There is a lot for parking.

Wow, just wow. I came here on business and upon my first night I found myself hungry. Being new to the area I went exploring, and I found this place. After walking inside I was impressed, very up scale and nice inside, also very quiet (which I like). I ordered the Pad See Eiwit was very good, and I even had some leftover to take to the hotel with me. The service was excellent, timely, and most of all accurate. I would definitely visit again if I find myself in the area as this visit was very, very, pleasant.

Amazing service!! Huge rice and noodles portions! Chicken Pad Rice and Chicken Pad Thai were both flavorful and delicious! Salmon egg rolls were 7/10. Hibiscus Margarita was delicious with a perfect amount of sweetness. The layout of the restaurant was a bit odd but I think it works for noise reduction. Otherwise it had a classy touch. Definitely going back to try other menu items!

Let me start with the good: I wish I had pictures to pair with my review but I was too busy diving into the amazing flavors to stop a snap a photo - a yelp no-no of course but you gotta go and see what I mean! We started with the escargot and it was so flavorful and perfectly portioned for our party of two. I ordered an espresso martini which had the perfect balance of boozy and coffee flavor. For my main dish I opted for the red curry with shrimp which was a large portion and arrived hot, I wish it came with a bit more rice but we ordered a little extra on the side. Now for the downside: somehow our party of two got mixed in the server shuffle and as we noticed several parties that arrived after us get served and had their food delivered as well as getting their check before we even received our appetizer. We place our whole order with one server and was never checked on and had to get another servers attention only to discover nothing was entered in the system. For it to be branded as a luxury and upscale restaurant that is unacceptable especially for the price point which is why it received the reduction.

November 7th was my father's 80th birthday and although I attempted to make a reservation with event planner Kate Witte in September, I was unaware that I needed to make a down payment by October 17th in order to secure the room as she mentioned the day would not be very busy because it was a Thursday afternoon. I never heard back from her that I might lose the booking or how the process worked. Nevertheless, due to the fact that my father is blind he is not completely comfortable going out to eat these days but decided last minute to go. So I called thinking we still had the reservation. The manager could not find it but it wasn't a big deal because we only had a party of five. However, I mentioned that we were a cake to celebrate his 80th birthday. She said this would not be a problem but they just couldn't store it in the freezer and they would give us a larger table to accommodate the cake. When we arrived we were given a round table that barely fit the cake and our party. My mother was very upset. The manager explained that she spoke to me about the arrangements for the cake. This was not what I had in mind and I did tell her that our reservation was not booked for the private room. I did not know until later that evening about the down payment so I showed the manager the email documenting the conversation with Kate Witte. After some time the team did make new accommodations for our group putting together two tables so the cake could sit out on the end of a long table. The restaurant was very busy that night and the service was poor. Our waiter was not very attentive and my mother's order was forgotten when the main meal came out. We were comped for her meal. The food was also lackluster and no one really enjoyed their meals. We had to ask for to-go containers. My major problem was when I asked for small plates and a knife to cut the cake. The manager that knew I was bringing a cake for my father's 80th birthday told me they did not provide plates and knives for that type of service. I was very upset and asked her why did she not tell me this knowing I was bringing a cake for a man celebrating his 80th birthday. She explained that they used to charge fees but did not even attempt to rectify the situation and said I would need to call Kate. We waited a very long time expecting that we could just get some extra plates and a knife and did not even expect the staff to cut the cake on our behalf. Had we known we would not have brought the cake and it was clearly communicated to this manager. The cake was sitting out there entire time so it was obvious that we would need utensils that were not present. I feel like the manager did not care and I understand the team was busy but this is one of my family's favorite restaurants. My father even received a gift card to the restaurant for his birthday that they will not be using and they have been patrons for over a decade and spent lots of money over the years. We will not be back and Asparagus ruined my father's milestone celebration with indifference and neglect. My mother is sad and depressed today and we have to have a do over at their house and we could have kept our original plans and not spent north of $300 on poor service and low quality food and just stayed at home.

I came here to celebrate my sister's birthday. It's about an hour drive from the Chicago area. Parking was spacious. It's an upscale Asian restaurant so yes you'll see some items are overpriced compared to the prices at regular Chinese restaurants. We ordered 3 appetizers - seafood rolls, duo cargot, young mountain lamb chops. We ordered 2 entrees - "to die for" pork shank and signature delight. Overall 3.5/5. One time is enough. Service was mid. -seafood rolls - while it is very tasty and crispy, $14 doesn't justify 4 small pieces. For the price you should be able to have 6-8 on the plate. -duo cargot 4/5 - I did enjoy the sauce, shrimp, and escargot on top of the bread. It was delicious. There should be another piece of bread on the plate. -young mountain lamb - this is not worth $22. Pieces are too small and it could have been tender. You need to cook lamb medium rare, this was about medium. -"to die for" pork shank 5/5 - pork belly, pork shank, and egg are cooked beautifully. Taste was phenomenal. Meat was succulent especially when you get further into the pork shank. Taste great with rice. Portion was big -signature delight 5/5 - huge portion for $60. Lobster tail, sea scallops, and shrimp were all present in the dish. Vegetables were fresh and well seasoned.

A lot of these are skill issues, so I do blame ourselves for a reasonable amount of the kerfuffle that ensued at the establishment, but regardless there were some complications. I think it's tough but there needs to be some encouragement to eat family style at a place like this, as not doing so considerable lowers the enjoyment of eating here. Also, there was an order made to go which was requested with the food to be eaten at the restaurant, but it caused maybe a 20-30 minute wait after we finished our meal. Regardless the food was pretty good, the banana curry duck was enjoyable.

I am a long time customer even going back to the Siam Marina days in Calumet city. My husband and I often order take out at Asparagus and one of our favorite take out dishes is the Pineapple fried rice. The last 3 times we have ordered it, they did not put the 2 shrimp in the dish that they have always included in the past. I mentioned it to the hostess the last time we ordered this as take out and they apologized and included it. We ordered again today and I never mentioned it, hoping it would be in there, and again ... no shrimp. The food is always delicious but I'm not understanding why this is no longer included and why do I have to ask for something that was always put in the dish before?? I would like to update this review by saying the manager reached out to me as you can see the response below. She wants to be sure the kitchen is doing the right thing. I really appreciate the response. This shows what a class act restaurant Asparagus is. They really care about making their customers happy. I have never had a bad meal or a bad experience at any of their restaurants. Food is excellent!!! Thank you Kate

So I ate here last Saturday with my sis. She talks about it regularly so I was excited to give it a try. I got the massaman curry and I simply didn't like it. Also the gravy was too thick. My sis didn t like her food either which was the beef bowl (forgot the exact name). The drinks were up to par, however, but was also I little pricey like the food. The waiter was great. Unfortunately, I'd probably never go back. Not worth the price.

Great place to relax after work. Quality of the food is amazing. Great customer service. Martinis are the best. Fresh ingredients and shaken to perfection. Love the cozy elegant ambiance on the bar side.

Just wonderful Thai food, period! Ambience is nice, great vibes, good waiting staff, knowledgeable and friendly. You'll almost always have to get things packed to go, as the quantities are generous. Tried several different items, all with a distinct flavor profile, had us talking about our dinner all the way to West Lafayette

Solid food and good service. The portions were huge. Really huge. This was a plus in my book.

This is for my most recent two visits this weekend. The me online order system called Toast is a disaster. It's inflexible and doesn't allow for example ordering a stir fry with 2 proteins. It only allows you to order 1. When ordering a side of peanut sauce, it offers you basil and a bunch of other choices, each of which has a price associated with it. When you want a vegetarian stir fry ironically, you can't get peanut sauce instead of soy sauce. The first time I used online ordering the second time by phone. I asked if they could reduce the amount of oil so the dish wasn't so greasy and the order taker told me she suggested I order something else if I didn't want the oil because it was a stir fry. I replied I just wanted less oil, nothing else and I ordered what I WANTED, nit WHAT THEY want to give me. The food is fair to okay but definitely not as good as places that are authentic Thai. And the prices here are higher. The attitude of telling me I need to order something other than the stir fry I wanted ticked me off. I will not be here again anytime soon and I suggest others go elsewhere too.

My mom and I had a very lovely experience dining here for lunch. Mom got one of their soups which was delicious and I got the pad Thai which was great. One thing to note: the Pad Thai portion is huge, easily enough to feed 3-4 people, so keep that in mind if you do order that. The service was great as well!

The food used to be good here but today I had the grilled flank steak and it was very chewy . My daughter had the shrimp pho and did not like it . The only thing that was good were the chicken Thai spring rolls .

After a meet up with friends before heading home we were looking for a warming take away spot that had something spicy - and we found this spot on Yelp. I called in a take away order and by the time we arrived it was ready. The place is a bit more upscale th tan anticipated but has a lovely vibe. The staff was confused originally by our order as I gather it is more of a sit down spot than a takeaway Thai place. There was a larger room being used for a Christmas party so when my companion asked to get a drink we were directed to the bar. The space was nicely dimmed and had a quiet vibe. We were able to eat our take out at the bar while waiting for a drink. It was a nice environment and the food was flavorful and perfect on a snowy day. I was a bit disappointed by the overwhelming lack of veggies in the veggie green curry but figured they were generous with the tofu so that maybe made it even. If ordering from here again though I would ask for veggies only as if felt more like a tofu green curry with no veggies. The drinks were lovely and the perfect fortification for a long drive home, and I would probably try this spot again when I'm the area but for a sit down meal.

Asparagus is always consistent in their food quality and service. I generally eat here with family and friends for a nice dinner or special occasion, but I was alone one evening looking for a delicious meal before heading home from work. I had the sesame chicken stir fry. Even for one person I received the same quality food and excellent service. They even wrapped up my leftovers in a very professional looking carry out bag.

Stopped in to pick up a to go order but rather than eat it while driving (would've been challenging) we sat at the bar and I ordered this delicious pear martini. My turn driving was all done so this was a lovely wind down/happy hour drink. The ambience of the restaurant is very nice, tablecloths on each table, on the fancy end, we sat at the bar since we were quickly just there for a few minutes. Staff were friendly and had a few recommendations for me in terms of cocktail options.

This place is a freaking gem. My husband got the Tom Yum soup and Masaman curry and I got the asparagus and crab soup and almond beef and we were blown away. We recently went to Thailand and this was the PERFECT reminder of those flavors. Bold and bright and delicate and subtle. We were not disappointed. Courtney, our server, was kind and helpful! Wow. Wow. Super fresh super good. I like the ambiance, the pho was excellent. I think the service was a little iffy in that we went periods of waiting a little longer than one should expect whether to order, get water or get the bill. Far from a deal breaker though. Can't wait to go back.

Food: Service: Ambiance: Asparagus never disappoints and goes above & beyond with service. We enjoyed choosing our meal from the winter menu. The soups, salad, seafood dishes, curry dishes...order it all! To my surprise, they even had hummingbird cake on the dessert menu! Run don't walk, just make sure to save me a seat!

The time spent as Asparagus was just a wonderful experience!! Our server Brittanie was amazing, she took our parties order of sixteen without writing down anything and got everyone's order correct. The dress code is casual for date night or girls night out. I ordered a Cadillac margarita that was fresh with a crisp finish. I will definitely return for the drink. Kay ordered the flank steak m.w and just loved it so much!! The picture was taken after she max.

Food is terrible. Terrible. Service was good, so we tipped our server, but we will not return. Empty restaurant would indicate others feel the same.

There is nothing bland about this place. Everything I've tried is very seasoned and tasty. Be prepared for large portions for the entrees--great for splitting with others. Their Vietnamese spring rolls come with a very tasty peanut sauce--it's viscosity is perfect. It's unique in the sense that it's not like a traditional peanut sauce, it has more spice and dimension. The chicken satay is great too. Grilled chicken on sewers and tender and flavorful with a sauce to put over top. This restaurant has Asian style food but with a flare. Can't go wrong with their shrimp fried rice, almost has a sweetness to it but not overwhelming. There's a good balance. Overall cleanliness, lighting, space, etc is also up to par. Staff is cordial. We were seated and served food almost immediately. Maybe waited 10 minutes for our small plates and 20 for our entrees.

I have been to this place before and I am a creature of habit. I usually order the same thing once I find my dish. This time I tried something new. I asked my server what all could be made vegan. She said almost anything on the menu could be made vegan. I was ecstatic! I tried this hot and spicy dish that was made vegan added tofu to it. The combination of spicy and sweet was like a beautiful blend of mouth watering happiness. The service is always remarkable.

10/10!!!! my two fav meals on the planet are pho and red curry chicken and both were the best I've ever had !!!! absolutely in love (and I am not a person to write reviews ...)

As expected most everything was really delicious. We have been going to Asparagus for years. I have only 2 minor complaints. Don't like the bread given with the duo cargot. I think it's slices of a premade frozen garlic bread? What would be better is if they made fresh toasted slices from a fresh baguette. Also my husband had the grilled flank steak, he said the meat was tender. It came with mashed potatoes and mushrooms and a nicely flavored sauce. The problem was it was swimming in the sauce. The wait staff should warn the diner of this and give the option of light on the sauce or even on the side. The mash potatoes were mush by the time he got to them under everything. The flavors of everything is really good. My usual order of curried crispy catfish did not disappoint. The bar area is a great place to sit.

Atmosphere, service and selection were incredible. The drinks and food items lived up to the high expectations created upfront.

A solid 3, but certainly not 4. Great, attentive service, easy to be seated. But the food was average. Tempura beans were fine, but the batter is a bit heavy, more like fried than tempura. The gingery sauce and wasabi were great. Both the Mussaman curry and Seafood Penang were very generous portions. In fact the accompanying small bowl of rice was not enough. We thought about asking for more rice, but not enough to pay for another scoop. The Mussaman gets the nod over the Penang. Too many green peppers.

Excellent Pad Thai! Honestly the best I've ever had. Customer service was wonderful and the atmosphere was fit for a date night.

The service and atmosphere are clean and friendly. The food was prepared well and delicious. I love the avocado, egg rolls, and string beans appetizer. I ordered the cilantro tilapia which was to die for. The shrimp fried rice was the best I have eaten. The ginger pear martini was also delicious. I will always return to Asparagus because of the service-friendly atmosphere and of course the delicious food.

We've been good customers here for years and years and always enjoyed the food and atmosphere, but lately the things have been lacking. The food used to be really fresh tasting and great but we were in a few months back and it was the absolute last time for us. Me and my sister both got horrible food poisoning from the beef lovers bowl. It was the only thing we had in common eating and we both agreed something tasted off. Within a few hours we were so deathly ill, in horrible pain, and almost hospitalized. For 3 days we suffered with identical symptoms. I called to let them know and they were apologetic and asked if we wanted a replacement meal but I declined because we're not going back. It's sad because we really enjoyed this place the service was great and Courtney is the best waitress ever. If you read this we miss you. But please reconsider eating here. The quality has gone wayyyy down for how much they charge.

Always fantastic, always a flavor explosion! The Pho is tasty and the lemongrass seafood dish (I forget what it's called) is what I get every time. And a kid pleasing dish is the Thai fried rice. Atmosphere is nice as well. Keep it up, Asparsgus!
