"White is the keynote colour of the antiques-accented interior. The restaurant is decorated with sundries collected at flea markets, while a pendant light wreathes the establishment in its warm glow. The chef prepares traditional cuisine, arrangements stripped to the essentials so the flavours of the ingredients themselves shine clearly. Enamoured of Bincho charcoal, the chef even bakes his bread with it. The name of the restaurant means ‘white asparagus’—no need to ask what their spring speciality is…" - Michelin Inspector

A beautifully creative and refined culinary experience—each dish was superbly executed and thoughtfully presented. However, the pacing of the meal left much to be desired. With only one chef and one server handling 3 to 4 tables, there was an extended wait of about 30 minutes between each dish, stretching the entire meal to over three hours. Additionally, the server asked us to keep our conversation down, which made the long wait feel even more taxing. While the food was undoubtedly memorable, be prepared for a very slow-paced and quiet dining experience.

I don’t know who these other reviewers are but trust me. Book here via the reservation app as soon as you read this. We found this place on the Michelin guide and got a last minute reservation. Wow it was incredible. We got the rose and Bordeaux cab wine, they were delicious. The courses were thoughtful and beautiful. The staff was attentive and friendly. Yumm and would come back 100%

One of the best meal and experience we had in Kyoto so far. Service, atmosphere and food were top notch. Chef bring the meal to another level with the charcoal grill, especially the duck confit and the home made bread. They were very considerate in changing the desserts for my kids as the ones on the menu has alcohol. Definitely a must try.

This is one of the best set-course omakase meals I’ve ever eaten, and I don’t say that lightly. I normally don’t like French food, but the food was so good that I would 100% come back to Kyoto just to eat here. This restaurant is owned by a married couple who are both super sweet! The ambience was perfect, the food came out at just the right pace, and all the courses were explained thoroughly. I cannot recommend this place enough!!

Amazing dining experience. Only 4-5 tables and each has one party for the evening, so it feels ultra intimate. The hostess was incredibly endearing and was great at describing the dishes and interacting with us despite the fact we didn’t speak any Japanese. The dishes were perfect in that it married French which can be heavy at times with Japanese techniques which made the dishes lighter, a great balance. We had a lot of great meals in Japan, and great Japanese food, but we thought this was our best meal there.

Perfect meal served with great service. We did the full tasting course, and it was engaging and interesting and high quality with generous portions, yet familiar and approachable. We finished every single bite. All the appetizers and servings were outstanding! The wine list is approachable and affordable. We tried two wines and they were both exceeding expectations, as was the meal. Highest recommendations!!!
