I was looking forward to a wonderful tea experience, but was disappointed at almost every turn. First the pro: we had a lovely table reserved on the side patio. It was a beautiful day and very quiet (as opposed to inside, which was cacophonous after the tables filled up!)
There were four of us, but we were given only two menus. When we asked for two more, we were told they were already distributed on the tables inside with reservations, and that "sharing is caring, right?" What?? "We had reservations, too," We had to ask two more times for more menus, even promising to give them back as soon as possible. We almost left at that point, but decided to give them another chance. Ten minutes later the third person we asked finally brought us two more menus. Good grief.
The very talkative Manager stopped by and we explained the situation. He said he would do everything he could to make sure the rest of our meal was perfect.
I ordered the $32 petite tea, which includes tea (I was told my pour-over coffee would count as the "tea"), five bite size tea sandwiches (I picked three cucumber dill, one prosciutto-pear, and one salmon dill), a petite scone (lemon blueberry), and a dessert (lemon poutin). The coffee was really bad--weak, warm only and bitter. Also, I found out the coffee was considered a "premium" drink, so it added a surprise $2 to the bill.
The cucumber dill sandwiches were fine, but made with what seemed to be wonder bread. I wasn't a fan of the prosciutto-pear sandwich, but that was me, not the sandwich. The salmon dill on toast was wonderful. The scone was dense and soggy and inedible. The poutin was delicious.
The service was acceptable after they stopped arguing with us about the menus lol.
I don't need to go back.
