Loved this place! We had a great breakfast and got good advice on what to do and see from the kind man working. They offer a tofu scramble and avocado as a swap for bacon. I mean Love love love that!!!!!! Vegetarians and vegans you are good to go here. The drip coffee was hot and good. They have pictures around the space of nearby art done by a local photographer. There is a bathroom too. Got this place but and grab a baked good too. I didn’t have a bagel but many locals came in and got them while we were eating.

On a quick stop through Marfa on our way to visit family in El Paso, we stopped to have brunch at Asters Cafe & Bakery. We came mainly b/c our little picky eater likes pancakes & we saw Asters had them on their menu. It’s tiny & quaint and the food was delicious! My husband & I both had different variations of eggs Benedict. His had salmon & mine had bacon. My son’s pancakes were a little toasty but still good & tasted almost like French toast. We’ll stop again on our next visit!

A little late on this review, but my family and I were here last week and loved it! It's really such a nice spot to eat. The chicken salad sandwich on rye bread was delish!!! My mom had the chicken salad on greens & my sister enjoyed the chicken jalapeño sandwich as well. I can't remember what flavored sparkling lemonade I had, I think strawberry? Either way, very nice and refreshing!! To end our meal, we had a piece of citrus pie/cake given to us which was such a nice gesture! Staff, location, food, service all 10/10! Will most definitely come back for more next time I'm in town. Thank you again!!

Google
Cozy little place for Great breakfast or lunch. Convenient location in Marfa just tucked behind hotel Paisano. Food is hearty homemade. The bagels are excellent with tender texture and loaded with seeds. Sandwiches are made with sourdough - perfect carrier for meats and a pop of green. The place is definitely tight with 6/7 tables inside and on a nice day a seat outdoors can be just what the lunch time needs. Happy eating

Google
Our favorite spot during the Marfa trip! This tucked-away cafe offers fresh, well-flavored baked goods, salads, burgers, and warm plates with ingredients from local producers, plus a selection of mimosas. Everything was delicious and well portioned, great for sharing amongst friends. Overall great value for price and ideal spot for casual quick bites.

Google
Charming place. Bakery is simply excellent. Loved coffee stile.

Google
Indoor and outdoor seating, comfy environment. My Greek salad was exactly what I was looking for. So good.

Google
Very quaint and loved my lox plate. Highly recommend. Just two takeaways - kids p&j bread crusts were too thick and dense even for me. Tasty but thinner slices would have worked best. Also “Vietnamese” coffee is more like a good $4 cup of coffee with cream - NOT chickory coffee and not condensed milk and not individually percolated. Hope this helps.

Yelp
This tiny bakery & restaurant was one of my favorite stops during my recent trip to Marfa. The inside is small, but there's plenty of seating outside. I ate lunch there one day & while my chicken salad sandwich (on homemade bread) was delicious, the real star was the saffron cake I had for dessert. Delightful. I also grabbed a blueberry scone on my way out to enjoy later. The scone was amazing, too. I know they bake everything there & I think they also provide baked goods for several of the local eateries. If this place was in my hometown of Austin, I might be going every day. I meant to return the next day for brunch to try the eggs benny but unfortunately it didn't align with my travel plans. Just gives me something to dream about until I return. The man running the front counter was friendly, efficient & very calm during the lunch rush. He was super helpful. I look forward to visiting again the next time I'm in town.

Yelp
A nice little bakery and Cafe across from the courthouse in Marfa. I ordered the Eggs Benedict and coffee. Yes, traditionally Eggs Benedict is on an English muffin but the toast worked as did the salad that came with it.

Yelp
Is this the most popular breakfast place in Marfa? All I can say is that it's the place that folks always recommend to me. I've been here before and I was here again. It's a tiny place that has an eclectic variety of choices and a cozy little patio. It was a nice start to the day.

Yelp
Maybe the best scone I've ever had. So fresh and so full of berries. Not too expensive either.

Yelp
This little gem in Marfa was a big hit for my daughter and I! Conveniently located next to the Lincoln Marfa where we had stayed overnight. We wanted to get a good breakfast in since we were driving back to Dallas that morning. Food was excellent! My daughter loved the prickly pear lemonade and I enjoyed my chocolate coffee. We both loved our breakfast orders. My daughter got a plate of sliced toast, fig jelly, scrambled eggs, and bacon. I got the eggs benedict with bacon and a fresh side salad; Incredible food all around! If you have room, try out their bakery items as well. The chocolate chip cookie was my absolute favorite. You can tell it was made with love. Everyone who worked there was super nice to us and the patio area was lovely. Definitely would go back again when in the area!

Yelp
Simple, quick and easy lunch spot. Friendly service. The bread is phenomenal, I wish we didn't come so close to closing time so we could have taken a loaf home. We got the chicken salad sandwich and the club sandwich. The handmade drink with fruit and sparkling water was just what we needed. There are some seats inside as well as outside. Don't skip this place when you're in Marfa!

Yelp
The owner Phoenix was very kind and helpful and helped me get something with my dietary restrictions that was super delicious! This place is so cute and the outdoor area is shaded and has a really good ambiance. Definitely would recommend this place to anyone! Thanks for the great food and service

Yelp
Very cute brunch place with good coffee and some amazing choices. Food came out very fast too. Would definitely be a regular if I lived nearby.

Yelp
Excellent service! Nice staff. Treated us nicely and very friendly. Loved the coffee and pastries. The place is super comfy and a cool respite from the hot weather!

Yelp
Unfortunately, Aster was not a hit for me at all. I tried the hummus bagel and I was very disappointed. The bagel was not toasted and all the ingredients felt like they were just thrown together. I also tried the iced Vietnamese coffee and it was watered down with little flavor. I would suggest checking out another local spot here in Marfa for food.

Andy B.

Yelp
Great breakfast spot. My husband and I are vegan and he typically doesn't love tofu scramble, but he raved about the tofu scramble here and said it was the best he's ever had. It's really nice to get several vegan options and a high-protein option at that. Fast, friendly service. Cute outdoor space.

Yelp
Uncommonly good eggs Benedict and chicken club sandwich with a pretty in pink sparking lemonade with prickly pear sweetness

Kelley H.

Yelp
Food was delicious! Sandwiches were substantial and kettle chips went with them well. Bread was especially tasty and toasted to perfection. We were looking for a cute little place just like we found at Asters!

Yelp
We enjoyed our breakfast here. It was prepared well and came out fast. The salmon eggs Benedict was top notch. We both loved the coffee.
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious breakfast bagel with coffee. Everything bagel spread with a thonsprwad of outrageously good cream cheese (not my personal fav) heaped with eggs, cheese, and avocado. Good coffee - I would like it hotter. Sat outside in the crisp air. Pastries look divine

Yelp
Unfortunately, was not good. I had the bagel with cream cheese and tomato/vegetables. It was an un-heated bagel with nothing great about it. Could have made at home. The jalapeno potato soup was meh, and the tea was diluted with no noticable flavor. Interior is run down (not shabby sheik) with broken light fixtures, mis-matched tables and of course decorated with local art for sale. Had high hopes because the previous occupants (was it called Squeeze?) had great food. I always support local business, but this restaurant needs to up its flavor game, as well as polish up the interior quite a bit.

Yelp
Cute little restaurant with a few tables indoors and a few tables outside. They only serve breakfast and lunch, so get there before 2 pm. We arrived around 11:30 am and sadly they were out of bagels, which was what I wanted. Instead I ordered the eggs, bacon, and toast. Orders are taken at the counter inside and they bring the food out to you. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the jam for the toast was excellent. We sat outside under a crooked and gnarled mulberry tree and enjoyed the beautiful weather, then walked all over town visiting art galleries. Limited hours and limited menu, but nice breakfast. Peaceful location.

Yelp
Lovely little house turned into a bakery. I had the Belgian waffle and bacon it was so pretty I didn't want to eat it! Fast and friendly service on a Wednesday 930am breakfast. Such a cool little place! I had a Vietnamese iced coffee too. I think it's the house coffee. It's sweet!

Yelp
Need a fabulous breakfast while you're in Marfa? Look no further than the quant and adorable Aster located right in the heart of town. During my recent visit, my friend and I stopped in for breakfast to fuel up for a day of visiting galleries. The staff was super friendly and helpful answering some of my questions about the delicious looking pastries I was unfamiliar with. Despite dining during a weekday, the small interior space was full of patrons and there was a steady stream of patrons during our entire visit. For my meal I opted to go with the bagel breakfast sandwich with breakfast sausage with a pan au chocolat and palmier on the side. My friend also got the breakfast sandwich and I'm pretty sure that neither of us said an entire word for the first half of breakfast as we were both too engrossed in our amazing sandwich to talk. To sum it up, if you're looking for the best breakfast in Marfa, look no further than Aster.

Yelp
Skip this place. There is so much wonderful food to have in Marfa but this place missed the mark. I ordered the bagel and lox plate and a Vietnamese coffee but I'm pretty sure they just used regular drip coffee and added condensed milk; not quite the authentic Vietnamese brewing method. My bagel was not toasted just cold. My partner ordered the eggs and toast and we spent about $40 on subpar breakfast food.
google avatar

Sara B.

Yelp
This cute little spot is a hidden gem. I wasn't sure our kids could wait until 9am for breakfast but I am so glad we held out. The bagel sandwich was perfect and the lemon ricotta pancakes were the best I ever had. Bring a jacket if it is cold because seating is limited inside so there is a good chance you will be eating outside.

Yelp
The interior is small and can be a bit cramped during peak hours, but they also have outdoor seating. On the day we went, they had a savory bread pudding that was outstanding. It was sitting on the counter next to the register in a large, uncovered cast iron pan that it was cooked in and there was a fly or two that landed on it as we waited in line. That didn't really bother me but might be a put off for others. The savory bread pudding came with a poached egg a slew of fresh vegetables. I understand the vegetable are locally sourced and they really elevated both of our dishes. My wife had an eggs benedict that also had plenty of vegetables. We got a couple of cookies and a piece of almond cake as well and it was all delicious. My only reason for not giving 5 starts was I thought it was a little overpriced. Happy to support this local business while visiting Marfa!
google avatar

Sarah-Grace H.

Yelp
Homemade Gluten free bread too! Had the eggs and bacon and toast SO good! Friendly service, great vibe and food was really good!

Ajay R.

Yelp
I see spotty reviews but I can only say I thoroughly enjoyed my breakfast there. Like Marfa, it has a 'skewy' atmosphere (in a very good way) and so glad that it does. Nobody goes to Marfa for Denny's. I hope Aster thrives.
google avatar

Ashley B.

Yelp
Way overpriced for very, very meager and underwhelming food- especially for the price. $16 for BLT just see my picture I posted and I'll say no more!! If you ask to add an egg even knowing you'll pay more, they refuse. Not customer focused at all. Re-evaluate what you want your customers to walk away saying. Because I'm sure my post isn't what you'd want to see.
google avatar

Joy K.

Yelp
I tried my normal bagel place back home on a visit and was sorely disappointed. All I could think of was the gorgeous presentation and taste of this fresh platter I ordered at Aster. Now I feel I'm spoiled for life of ever visiting a chain ever again. The quality, the care, the taste and ingredients are superior in every way. A must visit every time I come to Marfa.
google avatar

Shradha A.

Yelp
This place was excellent and would be a regular for me in Austin. The hummus plate was a sizeable portion and I couldn't even finish it as one meal. I had added fresh feta to it and it was delicious. The sourdough with it was also excellent! The olive oil cake was out of this world tasty - and easily enjoyed by 2. The patio seating on the street offers a lovely view of the famous courthouse (climb it to the top for nice views and to work up your appetite).

Kalen G.

Yelp
The food was really bad, and also really overpriced. It's really small and cramped inside, and the tables were not cleaned. I'd recommend avoiding this place.

Diane S.

Yelp
Nothing has changed on the review I posted in 2019, but I forgot to mention that we were waited on by the Wicked Witch of the West on that long-ago visit. Yes, the black dress, the pointy hat, and right on down to the clunky shoes. That was probably the highlight of our experience, and my husband and I think of her fondly and wonder if she still works there; not enough to go back and see, mind you, but still, we wonder.
google avatar

Ashley P.

Yelp
Loved this place in Marfa! It's kinda small inside so we had to wait to get a table but man was it worth it! The waffle was great, the bread was homemade and everything was fresh and delicious. I will definitely be back when visiting Marfa

Lisa S.

Yelp
I came for the bagel which was as good as all the reviews say! Came back today for the best scone I've ever eaten: light, fluffy and FULL of blueberries. Everything we tasted was top notch. And what a cute patio!

Xavier C.

Yelp
Excellent place! Great food and great service! Loved the eggs Benedict. Definitely a place to check out.

Anne Z.

Yelp
Food was good but not great. Small portions and overpriced. They were out of several core items, which seems common from other reviews. Staff was apathetic bordering on rude. No-one seemed to care to refill the silverware containers or the toilet paper in the bathroom. And the bathroom was filthy. I don't get the hype at all.
google avatar

Anna T.

Yelp
Great pastries--a line forms when they open their doors so if you want a coveted ham and cheese croissant, it's probably best to order the day before and pick it up in the morning. Their bagels are what's worth coming for in my opinion. The lox and cream cheese is heavenly. I also enjoyed their iced chai enough to get it multiple days.

Lucy G.

Yelp
Savory bread pudding was delicious! Also tried the orange olive oil dessert that got devoured before it could get pictures. Bagel sandwich was perfection and so was the croissant perfectly crunchy outside and chewy in with gruyere and ham that can't be beat.
google avatar

Susan R.

Yelp
Wow. This place impresses me every time I visit. Which has been about a half dozen times now. Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon is my favorite order and it never disappoints. It's farm to table too which is very cool. Eat there.
google avatar

N S.

Yelp
Friendly staff, adorable outside seating, great menu. Stopped by for brunch and got the lox plate, super fresh and delicious. Watched the dude squeeze oranges into my mimosa glass. An assortment of housemade bakery items like croissants, cookies and what looked like a German bee sting cake. Also, two employees embraced behind the counter for a good 15 seconds and I thought that was awesome.
google avatar

Hannah S.

Yelp
On the weekend get there when the doors open. Aster is the best breakfast in Marfa! If they were open everyday I would of gone back to try their lunch. Biggest regret but will have to come back. I love that they are farm to table and they use grass fed meat. The staff were so friendly and kind! The croissant bread pudding is out of this world. The eggs benedict is an absolute must!
google avatar

Donald L.

Yelp
Let's start with fresh squeezed OJ! Yes, literally in front of your face! Great stuff. Food - Had the Hawaiian and BNA Burger, both delicious served with fries. Also grabbed a cheese danish and an oatmeal cookie--let's just say I couldn't resist and had dessert first. Excellent customer service and pretty cozy, so be sure to check out seating options first because the place is fairly small. All around great place to dine--5s all around!
google avatar

Giena L.

Yelp
Get there early, the line gets long. There is outdoor seating but it's limited and first come first serve. We were told by the locals that the scones and bagels were to die for--- and sell out quickly. The scone was definitely much moister than the usual, and the everything bagel was delicious as a breakfast sandwich, on weekends they also have eggs benne, tried that with salmon and was also delicious.
google avatar

David O.

Yelp
Great breakfast place serving up fresh locally sourced food. My girlfriend loves scrambled eggs and was able to order a couple a' la carte. Served piping hot in a bowl with a light chives seasoning they were Ab Fab. The eggs had to have been free range as they were so flavorful. I ordered bacon and eggs and they were also spot on with very flavorful fresh tasting eggs. It accompanied by a couple of pieces of fresh sourdough bread and a really great raspberry jam. Would definitely go back!!
google avatar

James L.

Yelp
This was my second trip to Marfa in 2021. I had the lox plate back in March and it was so good that I just had to go back and have it again. Perfectly smoked salmon. Fresh tomatoes. Red onion. Capers. Cucumbers. Cream cheese. And the most delicious, buttery, crisp sourdough bread! I have to say this plate is fresh and alive with flavor! Oh, and the lemon bar was out of this world. Creamy and full of tart lemon zest! Heavenly, flaky crust!
google avatar

Krystal B.

Yelp
Delicious food, friendly staff. There is not a lot of seating inside but we shared a table with some wonderful fellow travelers. The food is well worth it!
google avatar

Marty B.

Yelp
This was a random find! My wife and I were heading back to San Antonio and decided to try Marfa for breakfast. We didn't see much but saw a woman with a coffee cup. We circled like sharks and noticed people going into an area but we didn't see a sign. We decided to get off and jump in line. We were not disappointed. Great place for brunch! Cute and cozy. Limited seating and the coffee isn't very hot. The chocolate chip cookie could use some work but that's just me being fat. We will go again if we're in the area!
google avatar

Rhonda T.

Yelp
I live in Marfa and my partner and I eat here regularly. This place rules. The service and food are consistent. It's a little pricey, but everything that can be sourced locally, is, and it's made from scratch (seriously, try the croissants), so I don't mind the price point. Aster is good food made by good people. Just go here already.

Louisa S.

Yelp
Called weeks in advance to arrange a brunch for a wedding party of six. The person I spoke to said be there before 10:30. She said they would hold the table. We were there at 10: 15 and were turned away. Very disappointed.
google avatar

Jennifer C.

Yelp
Amazing food and pastries wow! In marfa 2 days and came both days! Great outdoor area and friendly service.

Sheri W.

Yelp
This place is amazing! We had coffee, iced coffee, and the Eggs Benedict! Woohoo! Everything was amazing! The hollandaise sauce had a little kick to it that was fabulous! The staff was friendly, attentive, and helpful. You won't be disappointed!

Yelp
Oh my goodness! I love love this place. Came for breakfast and there was line. Should have figured since it was worth the wait. It's small so lots of folks took it to go but we stayed and ate. I have the salmon with cream cheese bagel and salad with capers. THe other girls ordered a bacon cream cheese egg and cheese bagel sandwich with a salad. The portions can be shareable pending your appetite. I ate all of mine. The girls almost ate all of theirs. They should have shared. Highly recommended! We also snacked on banana bread and lemon bread while we waited for our food. Whole bunch of pastry selections.
