Oh my gosh, Raven is amazing! Barista, cashier, server, all the above. They gave us an incredible coffee recommendation, the brown sugar cinnamon syrup, 20/10! My husband is normally not a syrup or sugar fan but this flavor hit the spot. My caramel latte was phenomenal. They went above and beyond to give us exceptional service, bringing our drinks and food straight to where we sat. It was a pure joy being helped by Raven. I observed them using their free time to clean the stations, take care of trash, and never once was on their phone or lacking. There was a modification i noticed was missing on my receipt and when i asked Raven about it, they told me they did write it in but also immediately went to the kitchen to ensure it was on their ticket and that my modification was taken seriously. I’ve never gotten that type of reassurance elsewhere. My visit was such a positive experience thanks to Raven. I will absolutely be coming back again. Thank you so so much for having Raven on your team, they deserve a treat for being such a kind inviting and wonderful individual. Now along to the food, of course the doughnuts were amazing fresh and hot! The sandwiches, MUAH. You may think its pricy, but the quality is worth it. We got full off of half the sandwiches and will be saving the rest for later. This chicken is one a kind, crunchy, juicy, plentiful. Do not miss out on Astro Doughnuts & Fried Chicken!!!

A Nice Sweet Stop in Shirlington Astro Donuts and Fried Chicken is one of two locations in the chain started by 2 friends who loved food and hockey. It is located in Shirlington and is the kind of spot you might pass by without realizing that it is even there. It is tucked into a small storefront with limited seating inside. There is a counter to the left and a few mismatched seats to the right along with a door to the next establishment. The place was clean and had a very eclectic feel to it. The menu is on the back wall and touts breakfast items and fried chicken as well as the donut options. We were greeted as we entered and the staff was friendly and patient for newbies like us. We ordered plain donuts just to try them out. They tasted as if they were freshly cooked. They were delicious. The price may seem a little high but from my perspective for fresh cooked , delicious donuts they seem very reasonable. The store is not flashy, but the combination of friendly staff, fast preparation, and fresh, delicious donuts makes it worth a stop if you are hungry for a treat.

Following a long bike ride, I stopped at Astro Doughnuts & Fried Chicken for everything. Chicken sandwich was fresh and included the perfect mix of savory and spice with a special ingredient added at presentation (yummy surprise). The fresh baked s’mores cookie upon order was delicious too. I returned the following day for their PB&J doughnut. Guess my satisfaction… delicious but no picture.

May 15, 25. Had to try Astro while in Shirlington. It was my first time. At the suggestion of a regular customer in Astro I ordered a cheddar biscuit with chicken. It hit the spot. then couldn't leave without trying a key lime pie dougnut. Pretty darn good with some kind of cream filling. Spent about $30. Recommended. Will go again. About a 3.9 overall. Of course, staff was absolutely wonderful, and the gentleman sitting on the sofa in one of my photos was a helpful customer when it came to making choices. He was an experienced customer and it was my first time..

Recently visited for an early afternoon sweet treat while walking through Shirlington. Easy to access with street parking and deck parking available. In the early afternoon on a Friday it wasn’t busy and I was quickly greeted by the team and able to order to order quickly. The interior space is quaint with comfortable lounge sofa seating and bar seating in the front window perfect for enjoying drinks and donuts. I ordered the bacon maple donut to go which was neatly packaged and a bottled water ($9 bill). The donut was a little cold but I’m not sure if you can ask for it to be warmed (I didn’t). It’s a good size donut that is very fluffy inside and not dense which I liked. The combination of sweetness of maple glaze and savory bacon was very well balanced. I actually didn’t like the brand of artesian bottled water. Would definitely return for to try another flavored donut or for breakfast bites.

Ordered Astro doughnuts and two breakfast sandwiches for delivery and they were delicous! The Egg Royale sandwich and Eggstra Bagel sandwich are both amazing. I ordered the latter with fried chicken as the meat and it was worth it. I also added their honey butter to both sandwiches and it complimented well. The half dozen doughnuts were all really tasty. The creme brulee filling was a little thinner than I expected, but still yummy. I definitely order from Astro Doughnuts again. Thanks!

You’d think that at $5+ per donut you would be getting good fresh stuff but i guess in the afternoon you get old donuts from the morning which completely defeats the purpose of premium donuts. Fillings are still amazing but i just wish someone at the register would have said hey man these aren’t fresh… just FYI…

I’m fairly certain this place gets going during ballgames or happy hours. We went during a slow weekday lunch hour. We had the two piece chicken white meat, fried pickles, chicken sandwich, and chicken quesadillas. Overall, it was not bad. But it was hardly memorable either. Our bartender/server was efficient.

Love the chicken fingers with gone mustard. They are fried just right. Have to come early there donuts are fast to go

I had come here after a workout and originally wanted to work at a coffee shop down the street but felt compelled to come by and see their amazing donut selection. I have gone to Astro donuts plenty of times and frequented the DC location more times and more calories that I care to admit. In fact, I was going to grab some sweet surprises and walk back to the coffee shop. However, I saw that they had coffee and asked if they had free Wi-Fi and I was SOLD! Plus, they have a much more open area with a cute little seating area. I also tried one of their hot spicy coffees and it had a nice kick to it and who doesn't love the kick of the caffeine to wake you up! My goal is to always try a new donut, but some of my top faves include the peanut butter jelly, the creme brulee and the seasonal cherry blossom. You won't be disappointed. On this trip, I decided to try the lemon meringue and the chocolate chip cookie dough. - lemon meringue - I have to say that the lemon meringue flavors, and the oozing of the lemon topped with the meringue was so delightful that I feel that it's my all-time favorite donut. - chocolate chip cookie dough - I thoroughly enjoyed this which was also full of chocolate goodness with those chips on the outside. The icing on the top was the cookie dough ball in the middle. Hi-five and bravo for these two new donuts I got to try. Now, what should I try next. Send me a message of your favorites.

Oh how the mighty have fallen. We have been lamenting that the Astro in Falls Church closed and we have not been able to have their food. Well we shall lament no more after the terrible food we received via Grubhub. Ordered chicken tenders, fries and cole slaw. It used to be five huge, meaty pieces of chicken in their tenders. This order had four tenders, about two inches long and not meaty at all. The fries were lunchroom fries, nothing better. I am really sad because this used to be one of our favorite places but on the bright side, I will not miss it any more.

I love doughnuts but this did not make the cut. I think I picked the wrong flavors that day. I ordered the crème brule and the peanut butter and jelly donut. The one donut was pulled from the display as it was the last one of the day. The peanut butter and jelly just was way too sweet for me. The texture was too much with the peanut pieces and the jelly filling on the inside.

This little place packs a HUGE punch when it comes to the variety of sweet treats and delectable classic breakfast menu items. I found this place on instagram and traveled 2 hrs for it and boy did it live up to the hype in the comments. I was a blown away by how kind and quick the servers are but also how amazing the culmination of sweet and spicy on a breakfast sandwich in a biscuit could get. Such a simple yet effective concept that Astro's has perfected. Another nice perk is the fact that the small serving of tater tots is so plentiful. Also, I HIGHLY recommend the freshly fried to order strawberry shortcake or cinnamon buns. I'm not even a sweets person but when they offered me these treats for free just to write this review I gave them a try and MY GOODNESS they are so amazing. I'm literally coming back before 5 today to get more before Astro's closes. Overall, whenever I'm in the area I always find myself here and I've never been disappointed by the atmosphere, kind workers, or delectable food.

Ordered 9 mini doughnuts online and were pleasantly surprised with how soft and delicious they were. We ordered the strawberry shortcake, maple bacon and cinnamon sugar. My boyfriend and I's favorite was the strawberry shortcake. I didn't go inside so not sure what the inside vibe is. However, my boyfriend did say the cashier wasn't the freindliest but perhaps a bad day or busy day. Will still be back!

One of my favorite donut joints! I picked up the chocolate candy bar donut to eat after I finished a bodybuilding competition the next day and this one did not disappoint. I'm still thinking about it two weeks later!

So I got this on door dash and I know the travel can influence the heat of the food. So with that being said the chicken fingers were warm and not as amazing as the doughnuts. So let me focus on the doughnuts ....those doughnuts are AMAZING, I got the Key lime , the maple bacon , the strawberry shortcake, chocolate birthday cake, honey bun and the crème brûlée. Loves, these doughnuts change lives , and for someone who does look at the cost these are worth every penny. The crème brûlée caused fights over who was going to have the last bite as well as the key lime. The Vietnamese Nitro latte (iced) was easily the best coffee I have ever had . I can't speak on the vibe of the place or the service but I would say the doughnuts are a dream come true and if you value your love ones get two of each flavor to avoid hurt feelings lol

I've been coming to Astro for years--since they had a Falls Church location--and I'm glad that they are now open in Shirlington. If you're looking for a fried indulgence, this is the place. I'm especially a fan of the creme brulee donut and their seasonal offerings, including their special donuts decorated for Hanukkah and other Jewish holidays. The chicken and the tater tots are also top notch and always a crowd pleaser.

First time but won't be my last. Absolutely amazing vibe as soon as we walked in. Top notch customer service. I ordered the fried chicken honey biscuit and it was the best thing I've eaten in a while. Can't wait to come back.

Received a coupon in the mail to check out Astro doughnuts and fried chicken. I ordered a breakfast sandwich (Belgium waffle with buffalo chicken) and it was NOT a good combination. The waffle ends up being soggy and the buffalo chicken is such a distinct taste that eating it with something sweet like waffles tastes awkward. Service is average. I ordered an iced coffee but they ended up giving me a hot coffee instead. There may be a language barrier but I let it go. It's a small seating area in the establishment with tables but it was empty when I walked in.

This review is strictly for the chicken tenders: extremely mid and devoid of seasoning. I liked that they came out hot and fresh, but for the love of god, please put some seasoning on that chicken! The Korean BBQ dipping sauce tasted 0% like any Korean food I've ever tasted - I pulled out the Sweet Baby Ray's at home instead

I had the egg royale sandwich and the fried egg was cooked on a dirty flat top or sauté pan and so overcooked. The top half of the biscuit was slathered in butter and weighed at least 8 oz on its own! The fried eggs in the morning melt sandwich were lovely - clean and cooked well. I always question when a restaurant can't consistently cook such a simple item as an egg. Still on the hunt for a decent breakfast sandwich!

Came here for Saturday brunch for my brother in laws birthday. Food was delicious. Service was quick. And we all had a great time.

I was super stoked to (finally) try this place. The first time we came by, they unexpectedly closed at 4:30 when the sign said 5. We had planned to buy a bunch of donuts for a party so that was disappointing. The second time we came by, I got the egg royale. This was honestly a very disappointing sandwich. I think the biscuit was supposed to be chive or onion, but didn't have much allium flavor. The biscuit was also claggy. It was served with a piece of dry cheese, that was just there. I wished for it to have been melted or something. The sandwich just tasted like individual parts, without any cohesion as a breakfast sandwich. Still 3 stars because the hubby said his fried chicken sandwich was good and he gave it 4 stars. Maybe try the fried chicken options if you come.

We came in for brunch last week and generally had a good experience. We tried the fried chicken sandwich, some of the doughnuts next door, and some of the made-to-order cookies as well. The doughnuts were actually the things we would skip for future visits; by 11 AM, we thought the doughnuts felt like they were well past due, with a density that was beginning to taste a little stale for the day. My kids tried the pretzel and seemed pretty happy; sliders also went down quickly. I like the space (the Beer Hall was where we sat for the meal) and my kids enjoyed playing video games while waiting for the food. Prices feel normal for this part of town, and service was fast and friendly.

Breakfast sandwiches are good and so are the doughnuts. Nice location with easy parking and colorful interior.

I've been the Shirlington location a few times now. The maple bacon mini donuts are great, the food is good, the drink menu is creative, and the games are a great time. My kids love coming here too, and they can enjoy themselves while we sit in the nice outdoor seating.

The donuts were amazing and didn't disappoint, especially their crème brûlée donut which was the perfect balance of soft donut with filling with torched sugar glaze on top. Service was efficient and pleasant as they explained each of their specialty donuts. The fried chicken on biscuit with the hot honey sauce is a must try for anyone that hasn't had the opportunity to try it.

Service was great! The lady at the register helped us out and gave us great recommendations! For the great service we will be back!

I am not a big donut fan but...let me tell you this!! Quaint storefront establishment. Service is nice and Their Maple Bacon donuts are WONderful! Not too sweet or "cakie". Perfect amount of bacon and just yummy with my Americano.

We were on vacation and this little shop was recommended. It did not disappoint. My husband had a bagel with cream cheese and it was very fresh. I had a donut and coffee. It was breakfast time so the donut was very fresh and tasty. My coffee was very good too. Nice little place and it was clean and the service was quick and efficient.

So yummy! Its hard to find fresh made to order donuts nowadays. Friendly staff and of course it's nice to have the beer hall next door.

The Shirlington store messed up my order and when I tried to call NOBODY ANSWERED there was ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE! The food looks good but the lack of respect for my business is unacceptable! There are plenty of good restaurants around here, customer service is where you can make a difference

I had the Egg Royale and PB&J doughnut. The sandwich was everything I wanted for a breakfast sandwich and the doughnut was perfectly salty and sweet. The staff are kind and attentive and the vibes were great!

Alexandra was our waitress for the second time we've been here and she was wonderful both times. Service was perfect and cocktails were on point. First time we came they didn't have donuts (apparently now they do) but their cookies kept my wife coming back for more. The food is on point. It's not fine dining but it's great bar food. The wait staff is as good as it gets and it's a great vibe. Definitely recommend.

Only sandwiches in Arlington. Probably should change the menu online to make note of that. All doughnuts (only counted 8 flavors offered) were sold out apparently. Service was blah as if they didn't want any business. All good though typical for the Nova/DMV area.

We are so happy we stopped here because there was variety and something for each family member to enjoy. Everything was delicious! The service and atmosphere were great as well.

If you're looking for a juicy crispy fried chicken sandwich, this isn't going to scratch your itch. It was sawdust dry, cold, and the breading was soggy. However, the flavor was good so it has potential. Also their Astro sauce is great and the tots were just right. I'll stick to Hot Lola's and maybe try the doughnuts here instead.

Why did I just pay $5+ for such a bad donut? These are just as bland as grocery store donuts, twice as expensive, and with a smaller variety. You don't have to trust my review, go and look at the sloppy display case, then trust your instinct and leave.

Food was AMAZING, per usual. OK selection of drinks (wish there was more) but the price was wonderful so I'm not complaining. Service was decent but it was really busy and I know she was doing her best. Unfortunately we couldn't hear any music because it wasn't very loud and the conversations were louder.

Service was great and fast! Food was delicious. Very clean and very friendly staff! The vanilla oat milk latte was delicious and the breakfast was fresh and very good!

What a great experience I had at Astro Shirlington! The bartenders were spot on with their beer knowledge and their food came out fast. Cant wait to watch more college football here.

We waited and waited- this place finally opened-The ASTRO beer hall is a separate entity- the side shop Astro Doughnuts & Fried Chicken does NOT have fried chicken as a main option- just sandwiches???....and it closes at 5pm. OK..... the location in Falls Church often runs out of chicken late afternoon and also closes early(before the stated time) so I wanted the fried chicken option in Shirlington but NO-take fried chicken off the NAME- you just have chicken sammies

11/27/2023 I got here at 4:04pm and they only had 1 doughnut in stock, literally 1 single doughnut. It was the Christmas Cookie flavor so I decided to buy it. The doughnut was dry and cost me $5.44.

I thought I'd try the donuts here since I heard a lot about them. For the price of $5 each donut, I was highly disappointed. Don't charge high end prices for mediocre donuts! They were too sweet, dry and stale. You're better off getting donuts from Dunkin or Krispy Creme for that quality and pay a lot, lot less.
