Probably the best sushi spot and best ambiance I’ve had in NYC. Service was great and everything was fresh. I had the tasting appetizer which was incredible and pointed out these pictures for what I wanted to order. Please order this and thank me later! Drinks were amazing too!

Google
The food is excellent. The sashimi was of high quality, generous cuts and beautifully presented. The hijiki salad was delicious and could easily be shared by two people. The eel avocado roll was delicious. The miso soup was very good. Service was prompt and professional. This was our second time at Asuka Sushi. We will be back.

Google
A fun evening at Asuka Sushi! The food was delicious and the wine was flowing. We started with shrimp shumai, pork gyoza, and beef negamaki, followed by lots of sushi! One of my favorite of Japanese places in the city.

Google
Honestly one of the best sushi experiences I've had in the Chelsea area. Each roll was delicious and the service was so prompt I could hardly believe I received it as fast as j did. Additionally the vibe of the restaurant is great, definitely felt very hip. One massive thing I loved about their menu was that they clearly distinguish between real crab and imitation crab. I hate getting excited about a roll that has "kani"...only to be disappointed when I ask if the crab is real, only to learn it's imitation. Here they offer real crab...a huge plus. I'll definitely return to sample more rolls. I highly recommend the heart throb rolls...outstanding.

“Asuka Sushi is amazing! The sushi is always fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The service is friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is welcoming and comfortable. Every visit is consistent, and they truly care about quality. One of the best sushi spots around highly recommend!

Google
Service was so good, food was good as well but some sashimi pieces could taste better. everything was really good, i was really surprised by how amazing the staffs were. so kind and so nice

Google
Fantastic! The meal started off with a warmed towel, which on a freezing cold day was a treat. All of the food was cooked perfectly and had wonderful flavor. Highly recommended!! I got the Shrimp Tempura Bento Box for the lunch special.

Google
Was looking for a place for dinner with the wife and stumbled upon this gem. We were visiting from MD and love trying new places when we get the chance. Absolutely love the good and the service! Even though we came a little late they were still very welcoming and full of smiles. The sushi was second to none and wish we had more time to come back and try more of their menu. Prices are not too high but not cheap but with the quality the price was very reasonable. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
I loved this place!! The sushi is so good and fresh. The food comes out quickly. The staff is friendly. The food is extremely well priced too! Highly recommend!! I got a bento box with sashimi and was stuffed. For $24 you get so much good stuff: a California roll, soup, tempura etc. the sashimi was plentiful, decent sized cuts, and very tasty. The salmon and albacore melted in my mouth. My friend got two rolls and they were big too!

Yelp
Fabulous quality of fish and a great selection of different kinds of nigiri items. And they had monkfish liver! My favorite. Service was a bit slow during the lunch rush but that's ok. They were really nice just busy.

Yelp
Solid sushi with some excellent appetizers such as my all time favorite white tuna truffle. This is also a great place to get fruity cocktails. There are about 10 delicious fruity options for only $11! They have all the basics, Philadelphia, Alaska, avocado etc, etc. The pumpkin tempura was extra tasty. The special rolls are good as well, some of my favorites are the Dragon roll and the flying Dragon roll.

Yelp
Walked in on a sunday night with my friend and we were seated immediately at the sushi bar. Sushi was good! We both ordered rolls and they were filling and came out quickly. Great spot for a casual dinner!

Yelp
We came during prime time Friday night, had a reservation. Got the edamame, chicken negamaki and 5 sushi rolls. Service was excellent, they let us take our time. Chairs were hard back and comfortable. Place is a tad loud but it's clearly a hotspot in Chelsea - would definitely go back and would definitely recommend a reservation - they had people waiting out the door when we left!

Yelp
Nice ambience, good drinks, decent service and OK food Loved the drinks - we tried Black Collar and Purple Rain. I loved the combination of rosemary and pineapple juice with the whiskey in my Black Collar drink. The veggie rolls were OK. Fried rice was OK as well, but the quantity was questionably small. I wasn't super impressed with the food for the price point. Attentive service. It is a small place, so tight as is common for most places in NYC and can get crowded even on weekdays, so do book ahead if you can. The place is worth a try. But not sure I will make an effort to come back.

Yelp
Food- Food comes out quickly and is solid! Lots of options for not too $$! I really liked the sashimi appetizer & lots of yummy drink options. The mai tai was delish Ambiance- Loud! Bar like, very lively

Yelp
Neighborhood sushi joint. Quick and attentive service. Love the warm cloth offered to wash our hands with. If you are in the neighborhood - dine here. It's a good time, with a decent price. Not something to seek out or travel to.

Yelp
I ordered the spicy girl roll and eel roll off of Uber Eats. The eel roll was smaller than I expected, only coming with six pieces and they were not even fully closed. The spicy girl roll didn't taste the most fresh but was packed with a lot of protein. Overall, not super impressed and felt like it was overpriced for what it was.

Yelp
My friend made a last minute reservation here and it was an amazing dinner. The staff was so sweet, the food was good, and the prices were very fair. We got the Sashimi deluxe ($28), Sushi Combo C ($21), Chirashi ($28), and a Dragon Roll ($15.50). We all liked each of our dishes and were very full with the large portion sizes. I had the chirashi and was impressed with how high quality and fresh the fish tasted. I'm from Seattle so i'm pretty picky when it comes to sushi, but Asuka did not disappoint. This is a great venue for a date or even larger parties as well. It's dimly lit which gives a "fancier" vibe to it but it's a great place for a dinner with friends. I will definitely be coming back to try more of their dishes!

Yelp
Sushi was delicious & waitstaff was attentive. Prices were very reasonable, esp the libations!

Yelp
Great lunch specials. I get the 3 roll, comes with a miso soup. Their rolls are are larger and more generous with the fish than other lunch roll specials I've been to.

Wallace W.

Yelp
I ordered a yellow fin and an eel roll. I paid over $20. I got one single piece of each roll which was not what I ordered.
google avatar

Yelp
Came here for a weekday lunch and ordered items from their lunch special menu. The service was quick and the restaurant itself is quite spacious. I ordered the salmon teriyaki bento box. It came with a miso soup and salad which were pretty standard. The salmon was a bit overcooked to my liking. The shumai and sushi were okay. I'd say come here if you're looking for a less expensive option for lunch on weekdays. The food itself is nothing to write home about.

Victoria S.

Yelp
It was fine. It was fine for the price and amount of food. Some bites felt fresher than others.

Yelp
My husband and I were visiting NYC on a little mini trip and we were craving some sushi and sake. Whenever we go on a date night we typically splurge on sushi because it is always a great time! We were lucky enough to get a last minute reservation to Asuka Sushi on a Friday night for 2 people. The place was pretty crowded, but our server made us feel like we were the only ones there. They were super patient and quick with all of our food and drinks. Asuka's menu is pretty extensive and they have a lot of delicious sounding rolls, however both my husband and I are both allergic to shellfish so we were pretty limited to what we could order. We got: - The Magic Roll which has spicy yellowtail and avocado topped with seared salmon and jalapeno. This was my favorite of the two rolls that we ordered. It was a little lighter in sauce so we could really taste the fresh fish and the fresh jalapeno was a perfect spicy bite. - The Flying Dragon Roll which has spicy tuna, cream cheese and jalapeno topped with eel tobiko. This roll was really good and we would order it again, but the cream cheese toned down the spicy level more than we liked, but overall it was good.

Yelp
Ambiance, service, price, food, everything is spectacular in this place. Great variety. Every time I have a chance come to this place to enjoy sushi

Yelp
Food (4/5): Not the best sushi and definitely Americanized but still quite tasty. We got the bento bowl, sashimi combo, several maki rolls, and miso soup and salad. The sashimi was fresh and good, the maki rolls weren't bad but could've been better made, and the bento bowl came with a good amount of food. Service (4/5): Food came out fast and servers were helpful and friendly. They could have checked up and refilled our water more often. Venue (5/5): Hip venue with cool waterfall entrance and fun vibes across the restaurant. I went here for my bday dinner with 10 people and had no issues fitting.

Yelp
Super service. I wasn't rushed and was relaxed. I took my time with the menu, and then ordered. Food was prepared quickly and was so delicious. The restaurant was very loud but that many have just been because of the crowd that was there. My sushi was yummy. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
This is a great sushi restaurant. I only ate the Chirashi bowl and a rice beer so I can not comment on the other items at our table. The fresh fish slices were hefty and abundant, the rice was excellent, warm and chewy, not gooey. Excellent texture and taste. I couldn't even finish the bowl and I really wanted to eat everything cuz it was so delicious. My friends had the avocado salad, shumain and some rolls, all were well received. The atmosphere was warm and modern, the tables had enough spaces in-between so we could converse relatively privately. It would be a great date place. There is a waterfall feature at the door giving it a fancy vibe and a modern privacy curtain. Very nice.

Yelp
I came here for a quick lunch on a rainy day randomly but the food was fair for price! I got the roll combo and it was $21 for 3 rolls that filled me up so I can't complain at all.

Yelp
Asuka delivered some solid sushi dishes on a strong sushi-craving night. We started with a miso soup then moved onto feasting on spicy girl and coconut shrimp special rolls. We also ordered a maki spicy scallop roll which provided balance alongside the stronger flavored special rolls. Miso soup was yummy and great entry before main dishes. Coconut shrimp was my favorite. If you're looking for a generously sized roll with avocado and a sweet coconut crunch, this is the one! Spicy girl also very tasty and comes drizzled in sauce, topped with crunch. The spicy scallop rolls were delish! Milder flavor profile in comparison, but perfect lighter sushi option. Snagged a resy for 2 on same day. It was full when we got there but got seated quickly. Service was good, food was brought out quickly. Ambience is nice, only suggestion would be to increase the music volume a bit. Got quiet a couple times and it felt strange haha. Will be back to try different rolls!

Yelp
The sushi at Asuka Sushi was very good. I came here on a date and we shared the Chef's selection of sashimi. It was a good amount of food, and reasonably priced. The sushi was high-quality and we were both happy. The tables were separated by tall, thin transparent plastic barriers. They added a degree of separation from the other tables, while not making it feel too crowded. Would definitely come back!

Yelp
Sat at the bar after not being full enough from omakase and had an awesome experience. The place was packed for early dinner time, and the sushi prices and drinks prices were all super fair. The sushi rolls were excellent and awesome portion. Would recommend for no frills sushi dinner or lunch out. Good spot.

Yelp
We made a reservation for 12:30 and when we went in missing one person from our party, there was no issue. It wasn't super packed and we were attended to very quickly. We perused the menu and decided to order the Chirashi entree, Harry spider roll, sashimi deluxe, and another sushi roll that had crispy rice around it (I can't remember the name). We did not have to wait a super long time and the food all came at the same time. The presentation was neat and aesthetic. As usual, camera eats first! The sashimi was fresh and tasted so good after not having for a long time. I can't remember what all the different types of fish were, but I liked the salmon and white one the best. Although I usually don't like tuna, it was actually very smooth and not at all dry, which I enjoyed. The pickled ginger was not overly pickled; just the right amount and I was actually willing to eat more of it than I normally like to. The sushi rolls were also unique and I like how there were many options to choose from. They were flavorful. I would love to come back here in the future because the quality and service enhanced my experience. When eating sashimi, it is important to choose a restaurant that treats their fish well, and Asuka truly does!

Bonnie N.

Yelp
They have such fresh traditional style sashimi and sushi and great Americanized types of sushi as well like the dragon roll. Salmon, white tuna (I don't like regular tuna), fluke, sea bass and yellowtail were all great and fresh. My friend got the dragon roll I think -- it has salmon and Kani topped with ikura if I remember correctly and that was good too. The tuna tartare I actually liked too and it's rare I like regular tuna. I wish they also had fatty tuna.

Yelp
Say what you will about cookie cutter sushi restaurants catering to cookie cutter palates, sometimes all you want is a maki roll + miso soup combo, and for that, a place like this will do just fine. Once you've seen a menu for a restaurant like this, you've seen them all, and Asuka's doesn't defect from this template. The service is great, the fish is fresh, and the prices are standard. Which sounds about as tepid as I mean it, so take from that what you will. If you go with a group of friends, I'd say the move is to order a big sushi boat so you get a medley of sashimi and rolls. I was only splitting with one other person so we went with sushi dinner for two which came with 5 pieces of nigiri, sashimi, and a california roll. We got the Electric Eel special roll, which was pretty good. Also on the menu is a section for Thai fried rice and Thai Kitchen entrees which is also not unusual to see on Japanese restaurant menus because for some reason people group the cuisines together. I'm sure they do a fine job of making those dishes too.

Yelp
Decent place for sushi but nothing incredible. Service was good 4/5 Food was fine Ambiance was a causal dining environment
google avatar

Justin L.

Yelp
One of my new sushi takeout spots in the city. I went there today and got the california roll, spicy california roll and spicy tuna. The spicy tuna roll was good and fresh and the spicy california roll was pretty big in portion so I enjoyed it. I think the regular california roll portion was a bit small since there was like 75% avocado and 25% imitation crab meat. I think next time I would have just gotten two portions of spicy california roll unless I go for one of the deluxe ones. As for the prices, it was very affordable. I got the 3 roll lunch combo with miso soup for about $15, I think if you get 2 rolls then it would be around $11. I think the quality was worth the price. I did takeout but I looked inside and the interior looked nice, you can prob get away with a date night here and save some money.

Yelp
Came for dinner with a friend! We got seated right away but service was a little slow. I got the Dancing Salmon Spicy roll (salmon, cucumber topped with salmon jalapeno & ikura). This was a 6/10 because the fish quality was pretty bad...

Finnegan C.

Yelp
Sushi was pretty good, but the service was so excellent I felt the need to post a review

Yelp
Picked this place for a last minute dinner with a friend in town. We were able to make a reservation just a few hours before and we're seated quickly. The place was packed even though there was a decent amount of seating. We ordered a variety of sashimi pieces, bonsai Naruto roll, soft shell crab, edamame, and truffle seared white tuna. We were pleasantly surprised by all of the dishes. I am coming off of Whole30, so I couldn't have rice and the Naruto Roll and Sashimi was a perfect meal. The drink menu was also unique!

Yelp
The best sushi is NYC. Fresh. Great options. Very nice wait staff. This place is packed, which shows you also that everyone wants to go here too!

Yelp
Food: 3* service 4* Our group of 5 work mates pretty much ordered a wide assortment of sushi , maki , etc (since work was paying) lol. That said, some things were good and others outright wouldn't order again. Namely we did lots of maki rolls to share, pretty decent but nothing wow. Sushi (chefs selection) was decent with Uni and scallop being stand outs . The agi dashi tofu, friend calamari (strange dark brown color) was borderline returnable. Sake: only one 750 ML bottle was available. Wasn't particularly good , too sweet. Place is pretty popular and clearly gets its share of regulars that know what to order. I'm gonna venture a guess this is not Japanese owned/run place ? Menu features Thai dishes on the back of the menu.

Cynterria B.

Yelp
Food and service was terrible. We were a party of 5 and was easily seated however we sat for 30 minutes before being served. Two other people came in 15 minutes after we were sat but their order was immediately placed. My daughter ordered a soft shell crab roll and halfway thru her roll her mouth started to itch and she stopped eating. Also the sushi roll had stale iceberg lettuce and it just wasn't good. When we informed the waitress that she didn't like her food she informed the manager who wasn't the friendlies when we addressed our concerns. He basically scolded her about how her mouth just happened to itch and after a few going back and forth he decided to take off the order. As he asked the rest of the party if we like our food we told him no but still paid even though nothing was good. As we were leaving the restaurant we did notice that the sanitation score was a 62/100. Definitely would not recommend.

Yelp
Love this place. Used to come here all the time when we lived in NYC and now come every time we visit. Sushi is delicious here. Service is quick and very efficient. Nice low key spot for dinner. Highly recommend.

Raisha H.

Yelp
The lunch special here is a good deal. The shrimp tempura rolls are the best and they're way larger in size compared to other sushi spots.
google avatar

Chetana G.

Yelp
Had a great dinner here recently. Between four of us, we shared the deluxe sashimi for 2, 3 special rolls, and a ton of lychee-tinis (maybe too many but at $11 they are practically giving it away). Highly recco the deluxe sashimi - it was so fresh and good. I was shocked to see Toro on there - that and salmon were our favorite pieces. Great service - would definitely come here again before a night out!
google avatar

Yelp
my oh my, best casual sushi in NYC hands down. I found this little gem with some friends and I am already dying to go back. The service was some of the best I have had (pre and post covid), and the waitress was cheering me on while i took photos

Yelp
Got some delivery from here given it's high reviews and it hit the spot. Got the chirashi with miso soup and magic roll and rainbow dragon. Chirashi was good with decent quality fish and rice that was topped with some umami flavors. They gave 2-3 slices of each cut and had good variety including the usual suspects (salmon, tuna, yellowtail). Tuna was a bit fishy but was the only piece I didn't like as much. Rice and fish were similar temperature by the time it arrived which made it less tasty, but sure it would have been better in person. Soup was a decent portion size and as you'd expect. Both special rolls were alright. Probably as you'd expect. I'd get the chirashi again if I were to reorder. Good place to deliver from with decent pricing and hits the spot when you're craving delivery sushi.

A C.

Yelp
Not high end Nobu caliber but a staple for solid, decent, fresh sushi and speedy delivery. I've been ordering for over 10 years and never had a bad meal or mistake. When I move I will miss having a such a reliable place to order a quick meal from.

Yelp
A very great go-to sushi spot in Chelsea. I sat outside so the ambiance was nothing special but the inside looks really nice and I'd like to sit inside sometime. Highly recommend the rock shrimp. Everyone at my table devoured it. Everyone also raved about the Tokyo Mojito. The sushi was really delicious and fresh. The Sex in the City roll was one of my favorites but also a classic salmon roll hit the spot because it was nice fresh fish. Our waitress was also super friendly and helpful.
google avatar

Surupa B.

Yelp
We ordered take out. It was expensive. We ordered: Spicy California roll- very good Peanut avocado roll- very good Miso black cod appetizer - not very good. Little smelly Spicy Thai fried rice- wasn't spicy. It's okay, if that much spice wasn't there, it would have been very bland. Also they charged a $1 for spicy mayo sauce with the sushi!! That's very expensive for those small containers. Then you should put it on the menu. Don't charge it later on.

John M.

Yelp
The lunch special sushi here is amazing. Good price and lots of selections. My go to is shrimp avacado and soft shell crab.
google avatar

Julia L.

Yelp
The lunch special roll combos are super reasonably priced! Total was $15.20 for 3 rolls and a small salad. Fish was fresh, and the rolls were decent sized. Will definitely be coming back!

Noa C.

Yelp
Very affordable and exquisite food. The shrimp tempura was amazing. Very nice people and beautiful restaurant
google avatar

Jennie C.

Yelp
I would come here if I'm really craving sushi rolls but it's nothing very special. The rolls are quiet expensive at around $16-$18 per roll
google avatar

Gab G.

Yelp
Asuka has become my favorite takeout sushi spot in the area after Sushi Para 88 sadly closed. The pork katsu bento box is my favorite dinner item, and the tempura the box comes with is basically perfect. I also love the included California roll (I'm not usually a California roll fan but theirs are great). The Teriyaki salmon bento box is not as good; salmon was a little dry the last time I got it, so I'll be sticking to the katsu. Finally, the Salmon Avocado Maki Roll is also good. Veggie tempura side rules, too! A single dinner bento box and one side is usually more than enough for both my boyfriend and I. All in all, Asuka is a fantastic value.
google avatar

Laura R.

Yelp
Consistently delicious, fresh sushi. I've never been disappointed. This is my go to sushi place for delivery in Chelsea. Prices are on par with surroundings. Delivery is always very quick and correct. Highly recommend.

Yelp
We went to Asuka Sushi later in the evening, and it was quite the happening place. They have a chic indoor space, and an outdoor seating area as well. We sat outdoors, and it was great with the nice weather. The menu is a combination of hot and cold Japanese dishes, nigiri and sashimi, cut and hand rolls, and noodle dishes. There's something for everyone, and it was great to take a tour of the menu. We got hot and cold appetizers, a bento box, and some nigiri and sashimi. The food and service were great, and the only thing I'd have liked is if they cut the sashimi just a bit thinner...it was pretty thick. A nice local restaurant with good service and a wide variety of options! -J
