A Critic Wants Santo to Stick to New Mexican Cuisine - Eater Denver

"Westword’s Gretchen Kurtz finds decadence, fantasy, and nostalgia in her meals at Radek Cerny’s Atelier by Radex. The restaurant, situated in the original home of Il Posto in City Park West, is a love letter to his “decades that paved the way for today’s earnest food scene.” White tablecloths, candle-lit tables, and whimsically served entrees are all a part of the draw of Cerny’s latest endeavor. A “conversation-stopping” lobster ravioli, “TV dinners” in the form of creamy citrus-tinged risottos, “lobster tail and shrimp scampi bobbing in butter,” and delicately dressed salads all make their appearance. One of Atelier’s more notable items is “the most expensive dessert you’ve likely ordered” and an opportunity to see Cerny’s creativity run free — a $25 dish consisting of two chocolate-cast ducks filled with a lemon curd and served with fresh fruit, ice cream, Chantilly, and crème anglaise. Kurtz hopes Cerny will pull from his decades of experience to bring even more to the table." - Nisa Sedaghat

Denver’s Essential French Restaurants | Eater Denver

"Atelier by Radex, a welcoming French-influenced restaurant, now sits in the space that Il Posto formerly called home. This bistro marks chef Radek Cerny’s re-entry into the Denver dining scene, where he taps into his love of French fare and offers classic dinner dishes such as salade de homard (a lobster salad), Cassoulet d’Agneau (a lamb cassoulet), and Magret de Canard (shaved duck carpaccio) at affordable prices." - Gigi Sukin

Amazing! Came for Valentines day the place was full but they made sure everyone had enough room. I didn’t read the menu before hand and didn’t realize they had a set menu for the day. Since I am allergic to shell fish I just accepted that I wasn’t going to be able to eat some of the meal which I was fine with but i told them and they adjust everything so that I could have ever course and it was all amazing!

Reserved a table for lunch on a Thursday. Walked in greeted right away and had the whole place to ourselves. Food presented with precision and was Delicious!😋 Definitely will dine here again.

I can’t say enough good things about Atelier by Radex in Denver—it’s truly a five-star gem! The food here is nothing short of exceptional, with every dish showcasing high-quality ingredients and masterful preparation. Each bite feels like a work of art, bursting with flavor and beautifully presented, whether it’s their perfectly cooked entrees or their inventive small plates. I’ve dined here multiple times, and every single meal has been consistently outstanding, leaving me eager to return for more. The atmosphere is equally captivating—warm, inviting, and elegantly understated, creating the perfect backdrop for a memorable evening. It’s the kind of place where you feel both relaxed and special, whether you’re there for a romantic dinner or a lively gathering with friends. The service, however, is what truly sets Atelier apart. The staff goes above and beyond, offering attentive, personalized care that makes you feel like a valued guest. They’re knowledgeable, warm, and always ready with spot-on recommendations, especially when it comes to their impressive wine selection. Speaking of which, their wine list is a standout—thoughtfully curated with a range of options that pair beautifully with the menu, from bold reds to crisp whites. I’ve returned to Atelier time and time again, and each visit has been a delight. It’s rare to find a restaurant that nails every aspect—food, ambiance, service, and wine—but Atelier by Radex does it with ease. If you’re in Denver, this is a must-visit destination for an unforgettable dining experience!

Sea bass was the special for the evening and it was delicious! Also got the duck carpaccio and escargot. Atmosphere was relaxing and they had a full wine menu. Would definitely go back!

Delicious! We went for restaurant week & truly enjoyed it! Cozy atmosphere but still could talk & hear each other. Soooo good!

Google
Very nice spot. I encourage dressing up a little, to make an evening of it! There are no as-written vegan options, but a gentle request for advice from the wonderful staff directed me to a great veggie ensemble (vegan to-order). Very comfortable dining room with open kitchen, and the food was really next level. I was a guest, so I did not pay this time. The prices were above my normal range, but easily justified by the quality of the experience.

Six of us dined at Atelier on a Friday night. Our first visit, but not the last. The food was spectacular and the service was first rate. The restaurant is a perfect size for intimate dining. We tried the specials as well as menu items. Our server, Kate, was a great help with ordering. We never felt rushed and we all left very satisfied with the dining experience.

Google
Exceptional menu, exceptional food preparation and presentation, and a lovely wine list in a delightful space.. We had dinner here for our 56th wedding anniversary. We spent $80 a head for food; $65 for a bottle of Patz & Hall Chardonnay; 2.5% “sustainability fee”; and 22% gratuity because this very fine meal was worth every penny. We also met and thanked the owner briefly. We will be back.

Yelp
One of the best hidden restaurants in Denver. Every thing is superbly prepared at reasonable prices. Wonderful atmosphere with excellent service. European and American cuisine. Cou recommend more highly.

Yelp
I had been extremely excited about visiting this spot with driends. We ordered a Rioja which was splendind. The escargot appetizer was absolutely beautiful. It wasn't over-seasoned or covered in cheese, so you can actually taste the earthy flavors of the dish. We also got some smoked salmon and it was quite delightful. The entres we ordered were the Lamb, filet minot and chicken. The filet minot was wonderful! But the lamb I ordered was a wee over-cooked. The sauces on top were a little overwhelming and the lamb flavor was lost. The foie gras also did not meet my expectations. Our server, Krsitine, was very attentive and our glasses were never empty. I think next time I visit, I'll have the sauces of the meats on the side.

Yelp
Too many flies! The food is delicious, but we didn't want to share it with the flies that landed on the tablecloth, our heads and necks. They need a screen door.

Yelp
Food is excellent Service very good Ambiance is just great , the idea of helping locals and making food with amazing taste is really amazing.

Yelp
We wanted to find a French restaurant to cap off our evening at the Monet exhibit at the Denver Art Museum so I searched yelp. All the reviews pointed me to this beautiful space for a romantic evening. We were so pleased!!! We decided to do the chefs tasting along with the wine pairing! Wow! The appetizer was amazing! Smoked salmon on a crisp with a horseradish foam and all sorts of delicious little tidbits like capers and mango sauce! The salad was so light and delicious!

Yelp
I ALMOST feel bad rating this place badly after 1 pre-fixe wine-pairing dinner with a winery that was largely responsible for the bad experience -- but it is what it is. For $150/pp, we got pretentious down-the-nose looks, the shortest pours I've ever seen at a wine event, sales pitches to buy more wine, and zero interaction with the wine reps (who were eating dinner together with the chef at their own table the whole time -- didn't speak to them once). I go to winery-sponsored dinners all the time, and this one was the most disappointing and least enjoyable. Stags Leap Cellars -- if you're wondering about the winery. The food was good, but nothing special. The chef may be "famous" and a Denver "institution" -- but I can see why none of my food blogger, influencer, or frequent diner friends have even heard of this place. Judging by the age of most of the guests, you gotta be part of the long-standing "in" crowd to come here. The only thing that saved the evening was the heartfelt, committed service of the restaurant staff itself -- or this would be 1 star.

Yelp
We went here last weekend and were pleasantly surprised by the food and atmosphere. Great service, bistro-style restaurant, not formal but cozy and intimate. I think will be great in the summer when they can open it up for al fresco dining. The food: The foie brulee was basically a torchon on top of the brioche with a pairing of cooked berries. The pairing was very sweet and didn't have any acid, it was more for french toast than foie, there was also way too much of it and it overpowered the dish. The brioche was very dry by itself. The sardines were a great dish, bright, fun, great pairings on the dish, perhaps too many things on there. I think the sardines were lost in all the other things going on. For the entrees, we got scallops and elk. The scallops were nicely cooked but swimming in sauce, it was too much. The lentils were nice and there were a few tiny asparagus stalks. Overall plating was messy and amateurish, it took over the whole plate rather than being tight, clean, and composed. The elk was cut into thin pieces rather than a fillet, it was swimming in sauce, again way too much and the plate was messy. Overall, we had a great time, nice wine, and an after-dinner cocktail. I wish the cooking was a bit more refined.

Yelp
// Summary Wonderful service that far surpasses the quality of food - hopefully it was just an off-day. // Experience Came here for a date, where we ordered the smoked scottish salmon, the chicken (poulet marsala), and a scallop dish that was a special for the evening. The salmon was excellent. My date didn't particularly like the chicken, saying it was over-cooked, and I thought the scallops were slightly over-cooked. We did end the night with a decent tiramisu, so you know, it could be worse than 2/4 dishes. // Service Our waitress was excellent. She was very energetic and extremely helpful. While we were deciding between desserts, she whispered that one of them wasn't particularly good and urged us the other direction. Gotta love that honesty and her looking out for the diners! // Ambiance The place is pretty cool - they have a collection of some copper pots and pans along a wall, and other nice decorative touches. The tables are pretty close together, but I feel like you'd expect that coming to a place like this. // Convenience Pretty close to City Park. It was relatively easy to find parking nearby on the side streets.

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place. I love French cuisine and was surprised on a week night to be taken here. The first thing to note is that there is no parking. Not a huge deal because we were able to find street parking but if it's a busy night you may end up having to park a few blocks away in a residential area. The restaurant had a little outdoor covered patio with a heater so it wasn't too cold in the restaurant when people went in and out. There were many tables, so the reservations we got were probably unnecessary, but it was the only French restaurant open on a Monday night. We waited just a few minutes before our server had us sit in a table. It was a cute venue with copper pots decorating the walls. The service was not good. The waiter would not stay at the table long enough for us to order. He was really short with us and wouldn't wait for me to speak. We looked for a drink and start asking questions about the specials and out waiter disappeared. He came back with a chalk board with the day's specials. I didn't think we needed the visual and he could have just told us the specials, but no big deal. We ordered drinks and appetizers and the. He ran off. We were ready to order everything but he didn't give us more than one second and he was gone. He came back with our apps, However my salad order was wrong but he corrected it quickly. When he came back with my salad (no cheese this time) he finally let us order the entrees. I'll be honest, I love lamb and it was terrible. It was way too salty. The brown glaze was overpowering. The lamb was charred on the outside and tasted bitter but cooked perfectly to medium rare on the inside. The meat itself was good. It was just too salty. My husband ordered the pork and it had the same brown sauce and it was also too salty with a cheese slice melted on top. He came to check on us for less than a minute and was gone for pretty much the rest of the night. We had to flag him down for a check and to give him our credit card. Honestly the star of the night was the mussel appetizer. It had a delicious curry flavored sauce and was unexpectedly creamy. It was perfect with some of the burnt bread slices. I also really enjoyed the beet salad with fresh berries. It was delicious. However by the end of the meal we had to leave quickly to go run an errand and our waiter was chatting it up with the kitchen staff that was busy cleaning for the night. It really isn't an experience I would want to repeat again. The food was not the caliber I was expecting for a French restaurant with such high reviews.

Yelp
4.5. Came by for dinner during Restaurant Week and overall had a lovely meal. Service was a bit rushed, but that was understandable given the big crowd. We both got the lobster ravioli for the appetizer course and it was really tasty -- just wish there were more than one ravioli! For mains, I got the salmon with caper beurre blanc and my SO got the bouillabaisse. I loved the salmon! Not fishy at all, tons of flavor, and the lentils were delicious. I didn't try his bouillabaisse (allergy), but he said it was pretty good. For dessert we went with the tiramisu and the lemon zest cheesecake. The tiramisu was amazing. The cheesecake was very non traditional and unique. We also finished about three bread baskets and the house red. Those bread baskets were a game changer and allowed us to leave feeling full. We were seated at a table near the counter and a staff member working behind the counter, on multiple occasions, was staring at us, listening to our conversation, and then interjecting. The first time it just seemed friendly, and then it got strange. It was quite uncomfortable and put a damper on the overall ambiance. Besides that, I enjoyed the setting and the charm of the restaurant!

Yelp
I'm already planning my return to this wonderful restaurant! I tried their food with a friend for restaurant week and was amazed by the quality, portions, service, and overall value. Everything was delicious and a slightly unique variation of classic French dishes. I particularly loved their soup of the day, the foie gras with citrus jelly, and lobster ravioli.
google avatar

Sally P.

Yelp
Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a quality French dining experience during restaurant week. There are plenty of other restaurants in the area that offer better food portions and offerings. Our group of 8 partakes in several locations during restaurant week. This one is the weakest in terms of portion size, drink menu, and offerings. When they say ravioli, they really do mean that in singular term. The food is good, it's clear there are talented chefs here.

Lucey J.

Yelp
While the food was wonderful at a recent Bastille Day pre-fixe menu dinner, we were disappointed that a 20% service charge was automatically added to the bill, and that's after another service fee was added on there as well. This was not something that was mentioned in the invitation for the event. Let people decide their own tips please. Consider including more of the your expenses (i.e. fees, tips) in the upfront prices of the meal instead of forcing it on customers at the end.

Yelp
Just a lovely evening of amazing food and service. Mussels were amazing! Yellow Tuna special, heaven! Thank you for being so close to home but so close to France.

Yelp
Atelier is truly a fine dining experience. The service is great. The food is full of flavor and is wonderfully cooked but is slightly lacking in portion size. The restaurant is small with lots of white table cloths. I've never had elk before dining here, but that was my favorite thing I had; so tender and the sauce was perfect.
google avatar

Cindy C.

Yelp
Wonderful French inspired dinner at Atelier. My parents are regulars to this restaurant and I finally tried it tonight for the first time. The atmosphere was casual yet classy, and the service was friendly and attentive. We split the mussels as an appetizer and ordered meats for the main. The mussels were delicious in a savory garlicky tomato broth, which paired perfectly with the delicious bread. For the mains, we tried the elk, lamb chops and pork chop special. All three were served with broccoli rabe, kale and a starch (potato gratin or grits). Of the three, I was most impressed by the Colorado lamb chop, I felt the pork and elk were a bit on the salty side (maybe because of the demi glace?). We concluded the meal with coffee and warm chocolate cake. Overall a terrific meal that I would definitely try again.

Yelp
Slow night here, but totally worth the visit! The lobster ravioli was incredible...best I've ever had. We also had the drunken mushrooms for an app, which had an Indian spice taste to them and were fantastic. Our last dish was the bouillabaisse, which had a delicious kick to it. We'll definitely be back to eat here again...want to try the lamb chops! Thanks for the great food and impeccable service!

Yelp
Our first time at Atelier was a real treat. The young woman who is the wine buyer really new her stuff and was very generous with her time. Very nice list. We had Escargot, Spanish Sardines, Raviolis de Homard, Mussels and the Filet Mignon. All excellent. Service was spot on. The two of us had to pass on dessert, A first for my wife!

Yelp
Possibly the best beef tartare in town. We went for a date on a Friday night and Atelier's ambiance made for a very romantic evening. Fresh-made bread, great wine list, and variety of the menu are all things that will keep this place on the top of my list. Our server was knowledgeable and made some great recommendations given that I have food allergies. We capped off our evening with a chocolate lava cake that wasn't over sweetened and maintained the subtle earthiness that make chocolate chocolate.

Yelp
Tried this place during March 2023 restaurant week. The food was quite tasty (but not mind-blowing), and the service was attentive but not overbearing. The restaurant was so packed that the table had to be pulled out before I could squeeze into the booth. I had the foie gras and the salmon, which were both yummy. My friend loved her buffalo tartare, and for me the highlight of the evening was the chocolate cake. This was a solid meal and fun to try during restaurant week.

Yelp
I was so excited to hear my husband had reservations here for my birthday after knowing how much I wanted to eat here. It has been on my list of restaurants I wanted to eat at for years. We walked in on windy Wednesday, on the news said there were hurricane force winds that went up to 100 mph in some areas. We walked into a nearly empty restaurant where we were told our seats were outside because all the reservations were taken. When we said we had reservations and arrived a half hour early, we were firmly told all the tables were taken. They sat us in the corner, closest to the heat lamp where our server turned it on and said this was the best she could do. While the outdoor seating area was covered with a weighted tarp, it wasn't one that could zip or keep the wind out so all the dirt and leaves blew in with every wind gust. The 15 minutes we sat there looking at the menu in the dim lighting, there was already an ankle high pile of leaves by our feet while the wind kept smashing the tarp into the building causing a loud clashing noise of metal. The people who would walk in after us, and still got a table inside, gasped in fear at the loud noises every-time the tarp smashed into the building. When we told our server that people who came after us got tables inside, but asked why we were seated outside, she simply said "you can go somewhere else if you like." Had we not been in the middle of a pandemic and restaurants accepted walk ins, this is where we would have left. However, booking this reservation weeks out, there were no same day reservations available anywhere. Our server comes out again and said she found a table for us and eventually moved us inside. What an awful start of an experience! But once we got situated and ordered, we were having a better experience. The food was phenomenal! We ordered a couple appetizers like the escargot, the veal tenderloin for dinner and everything was cooked to perfection. The portions were decent, the meat was tender, each dish was so flavorful, and I couldn't say enough good things about the food. Honestly, it was one the best meals I've had. Unfortunately, the rude service we had inside, which we had a different server inside, and our experience when we arrived, took away from our overall positive experience here. When you're going to a nicer restaurant you're wanting great food AND great service and I cannot say I found both here.

Yelp
We went here for Valentines Day which was a prefix menu. Honestly if we knew that, we probably wouldn't have gone. When we sat down, we saw the menu. It looked okay but we were there so it was what it was. First course was lobster ravioli which sounded good but it was undercooked, SUPER fishy, and semi cold when we got it. It was pretty gross if you ask me. Next course was tomato soup. Possibly made from a can and cost about $.60 to make. Next course was "shrimp" salad which was about 12 pieces of Spanish and legit ONE piece of shrimp. The shrimp was honestly pretty tasty but we got one piece. Which again probably cost them $.90 to make. Second to last course was 2 small beef medallions with a small cookie scoop of mashed potatoes and a "crab cake". It was nicely flavored but was the only course that was semi decent but the crab cake was terrible. Again, extremely fishy but at least the steak was cooked how we asked for it. I wouldn't be surprised if I have a stomach ache for days after eating just a bite of that crab cake. Oh and our entree was served on a new years plate from 2000. Last course was small cookie scoop of basically a chocolate truffle which in my opinion, lacked luster. And to add to it all our server barely spoke English. I had no idea what he said the entire night. Then, the bill was $359. Unbelievable. I have honestly never been so disappointed in a meal for the price. We could go to Uchi and be stuffed for $250 which is 10x better quality food then this place. I honestly don't even care if their a la carte menu is better because I won't be back.

Yelp
After eating at Atelier Radex, I officially decided steak frites would be my "death row" meal. I've tried a few of the French restaurants in denver and have honestly been blown away by all of them. Atelier Radex is right up there with Bilboquet for me!! An absolute must for a celebration - so indulgent and delicious. Highly recommend!!!! And of course have martini.
google avatar

Angela L.

Yelp
Since it opened in 2017, I have been wanting to have a meal (lunch or dinner) at Radex. Last night my boyfriend said he had a surprise and he didn't know I have been secretly pining Radex...well he took me! From the minute you walk in this small but stylish restaurant you are immersed in French cuisine. It reminds me of the small country French restaurants of the south of France. The staff all but one speak French and their smiles are warm and welcoming. Copper copper copper everywhere from the display of cooking pans pots on the wall to the wrap of the bar for the open kitchen to a wrap on the cooking hood and even your check is served covered in copper. Martha Stewart would be drooling over the use of copper and Bar Keepers Friend would be raking in the $$. Our physical tabletop was made of wooden wine crates...fun stylish and so French. Service impeccable...not a moment of failure. On top of it, not pushy not rushed. Wine decadent and like nectar from heaven. We had the beet salad, foie gras special with berries on toast points, Canadian elk and my beloved filet mingon tartare. Manifique!!!! Everything was cooked expertly, ingredients like they were just plucked from the wilderness. The last tartare I had was at the Hotel Majestic in Cannes 27 years ago and this rendition was everything and more...sinfully tasty meat, briney capers, quail egg. In true French fashion, the menu has some interesting titles to dishes. It's a bit political it's a bit cheeky but it's simply divine. They serve the bananas Foster smoked in this gigantic venetian glass decanter. The owner is hands on and even sits amongst the patrons. At one point a couple quite young who had spent significant time drinking endless bottles of wine had gotten up to leave. The young lady forgot her purse. The owner bellows as we all clamor to say hey you forgot your purse, "It's okay she will be back tomorrow." The restaurant erupts in laughter. The young lady then realizes and rushes back into the restaurant to retrieve her purse. Now the owner stands and starts applauding profusely and the restaurant erupts in applause. This restaurant might hold 40 people. It frequently has wine dinners. Sadly we missed a Charles Krug wine dinner which for $125 you have 4 or 5 courses paired with wines and a member of the Mondavi family speaking...

Yelp
Atelier is a solid 3 1/2 stars restaurant. The service was fine. All the food was cooked well and okay overall. I really enjoyed the lobster ravioli. The salmon dish although was cooked well could have benefited from a little more flavor. I understand the cozy vibes they are going for but frankly the serving plates were childish and out of place. I went for restaurant week so an average experience may be different from mine.

Ann R.

Yelp
Meh...salty, saucy, and $$$. Too much salt, sauce and oil. Tomatoes in the caprese were drowned in oil, filet medallions tasted like the grill and were drenched in sauce along with the mashed potatoes that were supposed to be polenta...even the salad was covered in the sauce. First time here and not planning to return. Service was fine but it felt rushed. Hope it was just an off night.

Yelp
One of our new favorite spots for fine dining! There is no lack of high end restaurants in Denver, so make sure not to overlook this spot. First off, make sure you make a reservation. The space is small and intimate, meaning there aren't tons of tables. About the food, we finally feel like we've found a nice restaurant that breaks the habit of "the more you pay the less food you get". We started with drunken mushrooms which were delicious and had great sauce to soak up with bread. After that we had lobster ravioli and veal tenderloin. Everything was seasoned perfectly and we felt absolutely content. The staff was also extremely friendly and helpful, giving us tastes of wine until we found the one we liked best and being very attentive. This is now going to be our new spot for special occasions, or even just when we feel like having a nice dinner.

Yelp
Hidden gem! Do not overlook this small but mighty restaurants. We sat outside on a cold (50 ish degrees) and they have plenty of heaters to the point where I actually took my jacket off. All servers were friendly and helpful. Was hesitant on the escargot because I've never eaten it before but it was honestly one of the best I had all night. The Tomato Caprese came next, which the most beautiful, delicious and juicy tomato's. Lastly, the mussels were another favorite. The broth had a hint of curry and the seafood tasted fresh. The fries are a must, and worth it, addition. We had two specials for dinner. They were ok but the appetizers really stole the show. Will definitely be back to try more menu items. The ambiance transports you out of Denver. It is well decorated and welcoming.

Yelp
Incredible food! Very reasonable wine prices. Try the filet tartare, filet entree and the escargot

Yelp
This used to be my favorite restaurant in Denver, not so much after last night. We brought friends from out of town for a 6:30 reservation yesterday, Thursday night. The restaurant was practically empty! The hostess who might have been the owner was unfriendly and indifferent. Very different from previous experiences, 3 of us ordered Bouillabaisse and 2 ordered veal. The fish stew had a very small amount of seafood for$32.50. Tasty but nothing amazing. Mussels were not as large as we've had before. Veal was delicious! Again I feel the hostess/waiter was unfriendly and put a bit of a damper on the experience. We had raved to our friends and was disappointed it wasn't up to par.

Yelp
No pictures because sometimes a girl just wants to eat. Small and cute restaurant. The staff are efficient so no unnecessary chit chat and the food comes fast. These serves can turn a table. The food is delish and generous portions. Cocktails are $15 and since I have a $13/cocktail limit, we did not order. We ordered a bottle of wine which was reasonably price per restaurant standards. The bread they serve at the table is not good dry and tastless. There are so many great bakeries in Denver they could source from. Disappointing Lobster ravioli - 4 delicious raviolis and a creamy sauce. Pate - 2 pieces served with toast, jam and some other things. Very good (but I have had better) Bouillabaisse- very, very tasty. The fish was tender and buttery. I wish there was more fish and shrimp. The base tasted of saffron, fennel and orange zest. Saltibocca - I have a mixed review ... veal was tender and the sauce was divine, but I got mouthfuls of sage and it just overpowered everything else. I know, I know this dish has sage, but this just had too much and made a taste leap out of my mouth. Dessert is $12.50 and they have a large dessert list. We were eloquently sufficient, but normally I find room for a sweet, but I did not feel like spending $12.50 and since the list was so long, I was nervous they outsourced their desserts. I guess I could have asked, but I didn't. We are definitely going back and we probably would dine on their appetizers.

Yelp
Forget about these bad restaurant week reviews. Me and my husband dined here a few hours ago and we Can. Not. Stop. Talking. About it! Simple amazing! I haven't had a true French dining experience and it was probably the best inclusive meal we've ever had as a couple. We started with the pate, tartar and caprese. We could have done without the caprese, not cause it wasn't superb, but cause we could have had a chance to get an even more adventurous appetizer that we hadn't seen before ( I.e.the sardines) All these apps were perfectly timed, portioned and concepted. Down to the tee. For entrees we had the saltimbocca imberico and the Colorado lamb chops. Pairs with au gratian potatoes, asparagus, a spinach salad and some sort of mirco green. We were licking our lips with every bite. We finished (at this point we might as well go all the way) with the bananas foster. Holy. Shit. This thing (for sharing) comes out in this super fancy glass serving pot and when you take off the top it's like your surrounded by a campfire. We also had a couple very very reasonably priced 15yr pappys and a nice bottle of wine. We def dined well and paid for it (370 before tip. We left a nice hundo) and it was worth every bite. The service was perfectly timed, patient with us not so fine diners and honest. When we were going to order 2 desserts, he let us know the foster was quite enough, which I appreciate. All in all, we can not wait to come back.

Yelp
Went here for the first time during restaurant week. The waiter was not friendly or helpful. The food was okay, but not anything special. There are much better French restaurants in town. The big surprise was when the check came they had added a service charge of $10 per person to the bill, there were three of us that dined. That was not listed on the menu, communicated by the waiter, or on their website. Likely will not go back with so many other options in the Denver area that fully communicate to their customers.

Yelp
Our go to lunch date place. Never disappoints, always a special event, casual and top-notch at the same time.

Yelp
This was the first restaurant of many during Restaurant Week and this did not disappoint. Atelier brings out the romance of any night. Even dining here on a busy night, when conversations are loud (but not too loud that you can't hear your future wife/ex wife), romance is still in the air. Service was a little slow but this was expected since it was restaurant week. We felt the staff handled the pressure really well so we weren't inconvenienced one bit. They did provide moscato after our meal for the trouble but it wasn't really needed. But it was much enjoyed. Our server was awesome and did great providing the information we needed to choose our dishes. The cappuccino soup was phenomenal. It was light and airy, but rich with flavor. 2nd round we had the beef tartare and Fois Gras Mousse. Either one was an excellent choice. The curry oil in the beef tartare was a perfect compliment to the beef. Added flavor but not overwhelming. The fois gras was also excellent. It wasn't gamy and didn't have the iron taste. But it was rich with flavors and compliment anything you spread this on. I did wish they had more bread or fries with this. But I was too busy enjoying this to ask for more bread. 3rd course was the Canadian Wapiti and the Mushroom Ravioli. The wapiti was so soft and tender that I didn't need a knife to cut through it. I didn't even need to bite and chew because it almost melted in my mouth. The demi glace was a perfect compliment to the meat but did not overpower the flavor profile. The mushroom ravioli wasn't our first choice, they ran out of the lobster but that didn't matter. This ravioli was delicious enough to make us forget about lobster. We only wondered how much better the lobster would be since this mushroom ravioli was so good. Light and airy. The only negative feeling we felt was that we were wanting more. The tiramisu and the berries and cream was the perfect way to end the meal. These desserts wasn't heavy that you hated yourself afterwards. But more like a lasting memory to make you remember that you need to come back to this establishment.

Yelp
I hate to do this. Atelier by Radex used to be my birthday dinner of choice for several years but I doubt I will go back. I'm a gild the lily sort of woman - extra sauce, extra everything for me, however... We went this year, and everyone ordered something different for their entrees. Elk, Lamb, Steak, Duck were nearly identical. Nearly identical sauce, and much too much of it - you couldn't taste the protein for all the overly salty sauce. Each had a dollop of scalloped potatoes, a few spears of asparagus, and an unidentifiable root vegetable. The mystery veg was undercooked so that it was nearly rock hard and you couldn't taste it for the salt and pepper. No one knew what it was. The duck was overcooked, as well, at medium. Why smoother fine cuts of meat with so much heavy salty sauce when a drizzle will do? The plate was swimming with it. The apps were lackluster, other than the smoked salmon, which was the only light and delicate item of the evening. The fois was again smothered in sickly sweet berry sauce. Between the overly rich brioche and the sauce, the foie gras was lost. I cleaned up my bit and ate it separately. The waiter was very... French... enough said, other than his alternate wine suggestion. While I appreciate a lower-priced bottle (get two!), when I ask if it's comparable, I hope that it is. This was a flat, single-note, barely serviceable bottle of wine when I was looking for something more robust and complex. The menu hasn't changed much in years. Even the specials seem to be on regular rotation. Everything is heavy, salty, and tired. With so many amazing restaurants with fresh menus, friendly service, and a more balanced menu of light and heavy meals, for this price point, you can go pretty much anywhere else. Pros: Traditional French cookery Extensive wine list (but come prepared or do homework) Cute little place with a charming patio Decent portions - you won't leave hungry Cons: SALT - my feet started swelling at the table! Repetitious sides - for the money, I'd prefer some creativity Atrocious plating, not helped by the amount of sauce Too much sauce and the sauces are too similar and heavy Low returnability - it never changes Some waitstaff is chilly if not downright judgemental Tired, outdated

Yelp
Well worth the wait! I had a reservation to dine at Atelier last spring, right as Colorado was placed on stay home orders. And then I really didn't go out to eat for 8-9 months. Takeout? Sure. Outside distancing happy hour? Occasionally. But not like, a real dinner at a restaurant. This felt special. Atelier does have patio dining with heaters, but my husband and I opted for inside and there's plenty of precautions for indoor eating, including very large plastic partitions to separate tables. All servers and kitchen staff wear masks, FYI. Felt safe the entire time. I could've eaten everything on the menu. No joke. It was difficult to pick just a few appetizers and a main from a long list of tasty options: https://atelierbyradex.com/project/dinner-menu/ We ended up going with the tartare and escargot to begin, then I had the bouillabaisse. Rich, buttery, flavorful, garlicky -- everything that French food should be! And a bottle of Chablis? C'est parfait. I hate to say this out loud but this might be my new favorite restaurant in Denver.

Yelp
One of my favorite unconventional French restaurant in Denver. The best food super gluten free menu. If you love lobster. Try the lobster TV dinner. Super place.

Yelp
Atleria by Radex Katerina our waitress was so fun and attentive. Radex is a genius in the kitchen. We cannot believe how he was able to pull off a five course meal paired with the perfect vine. Fabulous! Started with salmon tartare for the first course, second course was wild mushroom soup, third course, Boucher muscles, Braised buffalo short ribs and the desert was light and fluffy and amazing. It was Profheroles with chocolate mousse. It is a small place and I am sure it will fill up fast, I WOULD call to make a reservation soon and tell Radex I said hello.

Yelp
This place had been on our to-try list long before the pandemic. Having had takeout, we can't wait to dine in when we can. I love to try chicken at a French or French style restaurant. I think it's a good way to gauge what I think of the chef's style. Radex's chicken was excellent. The butchering, the seasoning...everything was good, and the chicken was juicy and flavorful. My husband's elk was great as well. both came with delicious scalloped potatoes and broccolini. We were celebrating a special occasion at home, so we splurged and got the drunken mushrooms (wild mushrooms in a sauce so delicious I wished we had bread to sop up every last drop) and charcuterie. My husband tried the ravioli appetizer, which seemed filled with delicious crabcake-style seafood. They takeout menu differs from the regular menu, which I took to mean they chose dishes that would travel well and still represent the restaurant's style. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and look forward to the other side of this pandemic when we can comfortably eat in again. In the mean time, we would happily order takeout again. Next time I want a burger, I am ordering it from Atelier by Radex.

Yelp
Visited on Valentine's Day. The set menu with wine pairings was delicious, and the staff, although extremely busy, were very kind and accommodating. Would absolutely recommend.

Yelp
I have been wanting to go to Atellier for a few years now, and I finally got my chance to go. The food was outstanding. Very wonderful sauces! The service was impeccable. The staff were charming. I am very pleased with Atelier. I'm eager to return!

Yelp
Absolutely incredible. The service was impeccable and every bite more delectable than the other. I had heard such wonderful things about a this French restaurant and everything was beyond my expectations. One of the unexpected and fun moments was when the chef sabered a bottle of champagne next to the table. Also the lobster ravioli was unlike I had ever had before light yet so flavorful and beautiful presentation.

Yelp
At first, it seems they are NOT open. We persisted. Try to look through the glass windows of the door. Even call them several times. We waited, waited until someone opens the door to Atelier by Radex. We choose where we want to seat that afternoon. One of the lovely staffs, mentioned that our main server will arrive shortly.. but he gave us water and the Lunch Menu which include the Wine Menu as well ... Once seated and given water for our beverages we scan through the Menu... Hmmm, decisions, decisions, decisions... What to eat??... What to eat??... Hmm... Wow-ZA! We went here for Lunch... Duck Liver Mousse, Escargot and Mussels Oh My! We also ordered and shared the Bouillabaisse Special ($16) After that we are indeed stuffed. If only we knew there are an extensive DESSERTS MENU. Definitely coming back for DESSERTS... Err, though I cannot deny those plum juicy Mussels are also calling my name as I am writing this review... The presentation and the plating blew our err in this case, eyes and tummy away...especially the Duck Liver Mousse with several kind of sweet sauces... The Escargot...aww... soft and tasty though I wish it comes with the Escargot shell itself, but for this case its not.. I am not, complaining anyways but those are GOOD Escargot... I should have order another bowl/plate for myself but sharing is caring, right? The Escargot are so SUCCELENT! The Mussels, comes with a coconut broth which seems familiar to what I am used to by cooking at home, but in a FRENCH restaurant?? Man they know how to elevate the flavors, and yet making the Mussels, JUICY and PLUM - meaning they KNOW how to cook the Mussels without shrinking it like other establishments in town. KUDOS for that Atelier by Radex!! DROOL DROOL Away, with Duck Liver Mousse, Escargot and Mussels! Please pretty please, do not change the Menu especially for the Duck Liver Mousse, Escargot and the Mussels dish. Pretty Please...... My tummy are indeed super happy with those... I cannot stop, scooping the Mussels Broth which are plated in a cute country mini bathtub with pedestal. FINALLY a FRENCH restaurant in Denver CO, that I LIKE and I can go AGAIN IN A HEARTBEAT OR when schedule permits.. Atelier By Radex 2011 E 17th Ave Denver, CO 80206 Tel : (720)-379-5556

Yelp
Back from its closure due to an electrical fire in March Atelier by Radex is back and with apparently the same staff and excellent food. Today was the perfect day to revisit this old haunt. Started with a refreshing cold squash soup and followed that up with the pate plate served as the main course. Couldn't have been better, especially when eating under the sun-brella with the trees in bloom and a dear old friend as my lunch-mate. Love that 17th Avenue easy elegant vibe.
