Lan Jaenicke’s Jackson Square atelier blends Savile Row craftsmanship with poetic, timeless silk, cashmere, and linen pieces in a historic, elegant setting.
"Savile Row, London, 1920s. That is what came to mind when we visited this impeccable atelier in San Francisco’s historic Jackson Square. Owner and designer Lan Jaenicke will fit you for a custom piece, be it one of her architectural dresses or a silk blouse that feels like you’re cloaked in a cloud. Jaenicke, who has an unparalleled skill for creating clothing that is poetic and timeless, wanted the space to show the entire design process, from the fitting to the construction. (She actually sews some of the pieces on the premises.) You can also eye the ready-to-wear collection, all in silk, cashmere, and linen. And even if you’re not looking to shop and you’re just wandering down Jackson Street to admire the old facades, this boutique is worth a visit. Jaenicke has considered—and honored—every element of this 1860s brick-and-cast-iron building that was once the original Ghirardelli chocolate factory. She punctuated the space with antique scales, shimmering selenite hearts, and dried lavender. Everything is in harmony here."

My wife and I discovered this gem a couple of weeks ago. We walked in to check out a coat displayed in the window and found a slew of incredibly well-designed, well-constructed, and well-priced one-of-kind items - mostly women's clothing.
We each bought a jacket during our first visit. We went back again because my wife wanted to buy some pajamas (incredibly soft) for herself and our daughter. We really want to ask Lan for some custom-made next.
My wife owns some designer labels - Dior, Etro, Giorgio Armani, Lora Piana, Tod's, Theory, A.G., etc. But now, this is where she wants to go shop first.

Yelp
Wasn't really pleased working with their online sales group. Just poor service overall, acting like I need their product falsely trying to create scarcity. Sorry no, I don't need to order from you the product isn't even that great

Yelp
I have been a Lan Jaenicke customer for over two years now. It all started with a coat for my girlfriend, and recently I got a jacket for myself. While mostly a mostly women's style, do not overlook the men's section. They will also custom make things for you and are always up for the challenge.
The quality of the fabric, products, and the store experience Lan delivers is unprecedented. Not only it is unique in nature, but it surpasses what you would get from similar big brands, at a lower price tag.
If you are in Jackson Sq, I would strongly recommend walking in the store, enjoy the space, touch the jackets and try them on. You will know what I am talking about.

Yelp
I found them on the Goop guide while visiting San Francisco for the first time. I was in desperate need of an investment coat for the office and was impressed by their online selection. I was pretty surprised that everything I saw was made in China. Pretty disappointing given the price point. I understand cashmere can and is expensive, but I feel like you're paying for is their marketing and rent!

Yelp
Lan 's Atelier in Jackson St is tastefully and finely curated in every detail. Her creations are unique and incredibly elegant. Her attention to detail is remarkable, from the finest cashmere sourced from Mongolia and refined in Japan, the tailoring made in house, the colors and lines express her grace and beauty. Along with her creations, she carries products from the prestigious Santa Maria Novella products, the renowned beauty herbal pharmacy/store from 1600 in Florence Italy, as well as the elegant shoes from Parisian ballet Repetto store. LAN's grace and elegance and Theresa's sartorial mastery make this shop a true heaven.
