A Special and Memorable Dining Experience From the very first bite, our experience at Ates was something special. The standout for me was the scallops — perfectly cooked, tender, and full of natural flavour, paired beautifully with a bold and balanced Szechuan sauce. The duck was equally impressive, easily one of the best I’ve ever had. Rich, flavourful, and cooked to perfection with unique elements that elevated the dish. I also loved the delicately spiced ricotta cheese dish served with fruity Gibson Grove olive oil — simple, elegant, and delicious. I must also call out the wonderfully and friendly service, and I highly recommend Ates to anyone who appreciates elevated and distinctive flavours. A big thank you to the owners, chef, and staff for a wonderful meal!

Absolutely fantastic dining experience at Ates over the weekend. We were celebrating our anniversary and were welcomed with a glass of bubbly which was a lovely touch. Every dish was delicious and the service was really great too, super welcoming and helpful with dish suggestions. The atmosphere is also warm and relaxed. Would highly recommend dining at Ates if you get the opportunity.

Cute little place in Blackheath, we chose the set menu with the duck as the main, every thing was pretty nice but wouldn't say it was anything extraordinary for the price. Also for a place with a name like Ates which means fire it was extremely cold inside not the kind of place that feels warm and comfortable to eat also the name is suggestive that there may be some Turkish options but there werent any maybe aside from a piece of bread. Also for that price I would much prefer red meat or even kangaroo something different but well done. The waiter was extremely delightful and the same with all the staff were lovely. Hope to come back if there's a nice fireplace or in summer and a different menu.

I really enjoyed my meal at Ateş. The ambience was gorgeous; warm, buzzing, inviting. The staff were great, they were attentive, fun and friendly. The food was really enjoyable too, our bread and ricotta was a highlight but everything was executed well. Whilst it was quite pricey, most great dinner spots are now anyway. I will definitely come back when I’m in the area again.

Very cosy to the point of having to move the table to fit. Food ran the gamut of YUM (beetroot, pumpkin) to nice (ricotta) and dry (dory) Dishes served with minimum fuss. Not great, definitely not bad, but overall OK. Given the price point, expected a lill idk, je ne sais quoi

Ates in Blackheath is a wonderful spot that impressed me from the moment I arrived. The location and ambiance are fantastic—modern and welcoming with a cozy charm. The food was exceptional. We started with an array of entrees, including fresh oysters, perfectly cooked Hokkaido scallops, and their signature woodfired focaccia, which had a wonderful flavor and texture. For mains, we had the pork, which was incredibly tender and juicy. Its clean flavor was impressive and a real highlight of the meal. To finish, we tried their desserts, and the chocolate mousse stood out as a must-try. The service added to the experience. Sean was attentive, friendly, and ensured everything went smoothly, while Judah brought a relaxed yet professional touch that made us feel right at home. Ates is a place I’d wholeheartedly recommend to anyone looking for great food and a welcoming atmosphere in Blackheath.

What an incredible dining experience! From the moment we walked through the door, we felt genuinely welcomed. The atmosphere was warm and inviting—calming, yet filled with a wonderful sense of energy and harmony among the staff. We were fortunate to be looked after by Tudor, who impressed us with his excellent knowledge of both the dishes and the wine pairings. His service was attentive and made the evening feel even more special. We chose the Chef’s Choice menu, a multi-course journey that took our taste buds from the sea to the farm. I must admit, there were a few dishes I may not have ordered on my own—but I’m so glad we went with the Chef’s selection. Every dish was a delightful surprise, beautifully presented, and bursting with flavour. Well done, Ates at Blackheath—we loved every delicious mouthful. Highly recommend this gem for anyone looking for a memorable and elevated dining experience.

Given the price point, we were expecting to be wowed, but unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. The food was just okay — nothing particularly memorable or exciting. While it wasn’t bad, it didn’t leave us feeling like it was worth the premium price. We left feeling underwhelmed and not entirely convinced it was money well spent. Service was good
