I read about the almond croissants here and have been meaning to try it. The first time when I went to the bakery around 10:30am, the almond croissants were already sold out! So I tried a raspberry croissant instead. I was extremely impressed by how well the pastry was baked. The crunch sound as I bit down and the shards of pastry flakes flying were amazing! Definitely no soggy bottoms here! I returned again this morning at 8am (their opening time) and was able to get 2 almond croissants, a ham + cheese croissant, and an apricot almond streudel. Since I was so early, the pastries were still warm from the oven. Again they were very well baked. The well risen layers were impressive. The owner was also very nice. She said I can call to reserve pastries if I can’t always come first thing in the morning. I am glad to have found a good bakery near my home!

Good coffee, great prices. We spilled an iced coffee and they were so nice about cleaning it up and insisted on getting us a fresh one without charge (we made sure to make it up in tips). We've been here multiple times and it's been great every time regardless of what we order. The pastry and cake selection is also delightful! Whether you want to try something new or go back to your old favorites, Athan's in Brighton Center is a great choice.

A bit of Greece in the heart of Boston!!! My husband is from Kalamata-GR, home of the first Athans' baker. So this unit in Boston is our little place to get delicious coffee, pastries and buy gifts for friends. Check the other unit in Beacon Street, great place to sit and work while enjoying great food and drinks. Brunch options, ice cream, chocolate, cakes ... There's just a lot to try

Google
One of my favorite cafes around. Lots of seating for hanging out or getting work done. Parking isn't that bad, there's wifi, and they gave great hours. What more could you ask for? Oh and their cakes are delicious 🤩

The lady behind the counter can be either super sweet or brash and rude. Same with the pastries. Will you get a stale rock? Or the most delicious pastry ever? Come take a gamble and see!

So reasonable priced and huge selection of pastries, cookies and entrees! The pastries tasted amazing and we loved the coffee and italian soda

EDIT: 11/10, breakfast, lunch and bakery. There is such an attention to detail in the food but it remains unpretentious and extremely affordable. I honestly believe the entire menu is a slam dunk. Athan's has supplanted all of my usual haunts and I intend to eat here as much as possible. Thank you!

Worst experience ever! Purchased $60 worth of pastries on Sunday afternoon for a party where half of the pastries containing cream filling went bad and had to be thrown out. I called the store on Tuesday to see if they could remedy the situation, they asked that I bring the pastries back to get a refund. As you can imagine those went straight to the trash after we took one bite. I will never shop at Athens again and recommend that if you do you ask for a taste prior to purchase. The person on the phone said she was sorry she couldn't help me and could care less if I ever came back to the bakery. Horrible customer service!

Yelp
This is one of my favorite bakeries in Brookline. I love their chocolate chip cookies and croissants (almond, the raspberry one, the pain au chocolat), their drinks are reasonably priced and tasty, and their chocolates make delicious gifts for friends/family/yourself! I had never tried their pastries for the first few years I went, sticking just with chocolates, drinks, and chocolate cookies, but I was dismayed to find I was missing out! They are flaky, delicious, and have great fillings, and they're reasonably priced. The chocolates are still my favorite part of their menu--pre-COVID, they had tons of different milk and dark chocolates packed with nuts, mint, or alcoholic fillings. I love their bourbon chocolates and particularly liked the dark chocolate with a chewy rose jelly filling. Last time I went, I think they were more limited, but they're still great. You can also get the chocolates and pastries in a box, and most of the people who work there are very good at tying bows!

Yelp
Three Stars = A-Okay for an Average Type of Day! Stopped in for some coffee last week, and obviously had to get a baked good because this is a bakery, y'all. Personally I'd say the entirety of my meal was average. Not bad, not Michelin. Somewhere in the middle. To go with the Mocha Latte (Single, $3.45) I ordered, I chose the Citron Cake ($5.45). I thought that they complemented one another well enough. The coffee wasn't really strong, but I could still get a hint of the chocolate that goes into it. The cake was pretty good; sweet but not really sweet. When I took a bite of the whole thing, I couldn't really get a sample for the lemon. It was reeaallllyyyy subtle. But when I broke it down piece by piece, that's when I truly did get a taste of the lemon mousse and lemon curd. Maybe the vanilla sponge cake just took the spotlight off of the citrus? Not sure how that happened, because it all looked pretty balanced out. Service was four stars--the woman at the counter was quick to aid me and was patient and friendly. All of who came in after me seemed to be taken care of as well with zero to little hiccups. I would recommend this business if you FEEL like trying it and have an open mind. You get what I'm saying? It's quiet and comfortable, with enough space to have some privacy and enjoy your time while you're there, yet the food may not "wow" you. I say that as only having had one of the many choices that are available. The table I sat at (directly in front of the window) also could have been cleaner--there was a hair on it that I had to blow away. Aside from that, as far as decor and atmosphere goes, I like how the bakery is set up on the inside and how it looks in general. There's even a VIP-looking section towards the back. It's still warm and inviting, and there are plenty of options to pick from (to eat and sit) if you get there early enough. Cost is good too, my total came to $8 and some change before tipping. Thank you.

Yelp
Best coffee on the block. This is where you go for a low key breakfast after a good date. The service is an acquired taste, but it's run by lovely people. I usually only get pastries if I see something enticing and I ALWAYS see something enticing here. Also a great place to stop by on the way to a party or a family visit. They've got all sorts of beautiful treats that make a good impression.

John P.

Yelp
Great food. Service is great. Don't forget to get the pastries. Trey the pancakes. The cakes are the best in town.

Norman M.

Yelp
I'm so surprised this place is not busier! This place is a hidden gem with delicious food that is inexpensive! Monte cristo is really good sweet and savory dish while the vanilla pancakes are soo good as they make it with a slightly crispy surface! Haven't tried the bakery yet but the breakfast here is awesome!

Yelp
I'm going to give Athan's a 4 star, but I think it's more of a 3.5 star. I believe they also have a location in Brookline if you're not near the Brighton location. My boyfriend has gone here a couple of times to work since they are open late and have good lighting. I've never been inside myself, but he has brought me home their pastries. The baklava is unlike any I've ever had and is so sticky sweet. It's sold by the weight, but I know it has been like $6-$7 for the pieces he has brought home. It's not really worth the high cost to me, but I can't deny it's good. He also has brought home a heart cake they had. This was pretty good, but a little too rich for me. I think for me, Athan's is just a little too overpriced, which seems to be the trend for the neighborhood. If you want high quality baked goods this is a great place to go and we will definitely get pastries to go in the future! Lots of love and high quality ingredients here.

Yelp
Everything was quite good here. Lovely small pot of tea and anis biscuit to start. Then had steel cut oats for breakfast, boiled in milk, with dried fruit throughout and ground walnuts on top. The only downside was that service was pretty slow. A nice spot to spend a lazy weekend morning though. Also the Greek coffee with one serving of sugar was awesome. It might be even better than Turkish coffee.

Deb W.

Yelp
I've been to Athan's on plenty of occasions. Usually I just go in to buy their desserts. The mini cakes are delicious! There are a variety of flavors to choose from and they all look very cute and fancy. More recently I came to sit down and get some work done. Their space is pretty large and although it occasionally gets packed, I have never had trouble finding a seat. They have free wifi available as well which makes it a great study spot. I ordered the monte cristo which was delicious and filling. It is basically a French toast sandwich with a side of home fries. This is definitely one of my favorite spots to study especially since all the other cafes around Brighton are usually packed.

Yelp
It's a wonderful bakery, quite different in their offerings as compared to a traditional bakery. I'm usually here for one of three things: baklava, biscuits and/or chocolates. And they have so many varieties of them! With the baklava, you can get the original, pistachio, almond, chocolate, etc. They're a good sweet treat but my favorites are the biscuits! Oh, so soft and crumbly, just the right amount of sweet. Goes well perfectly as a snack for tea/coffee breaks or as an after meal dessert. And again, there are so many variations to choose from. The best part is you don't have to buy a pack of the same cookies (thank you, Athan's!). Who wants a dozen same cookies when you can pick and choose and customize to your heart's content! I always get a wide assortment - chocolate, almond, sugar, orange, etc. And now coming to their handmade chocolates - yum. They have milk chocolate and dark chocolate. Filled with rice krispies, toffee, caramel, etc. They make a lovely present too. I do wish they would label each tray properly. But their staff has always been kind to answer all my questions. I've only eaten in once. I had their panini with brie and tomato. It was nice but a little dry. Came with a side of coleslaw which lacked flavor and was also dry. My suggestion would be to change the side to a dipping sauce or a half cup of soup, at least for this sandwich. Athan's is definitely my go-to place for their yummy biscuits and chocolates. Give it a try, it might become yours too!

Yelp
Another great breakfast!!! Love this place. The service is always friendly. Best breakfast in Brighton by far.

Shweta S.

Yelp
i love the dessert here, esp the apricot almond strudel and almond croissant! perfect flaky and generous filing. staff is so friendly and they have a nice room space high ceiling. coffee was really good too. they have an amazing variety of butter cookies and bakhlava, cant wait to go back to try them.

Yelp
They are trying really hard, but so short-handed! Food is pretty good, but nothing to get too excited about. Ambience has a lot of potential, but missing something. A nice place to go to work alone I guess. Little cakes are probably the best part. I don't know how they make them so perfectly....starting to think they are made at a different location? This place could be great someday. I do love the house potato fries. And that the food all seems to be made fresh.

John Graham P.

Yelp
The manager was very rude to us when two in our party ordered drinks at the counter and the rest of us (3) didn't want to order anything and we sat down. When a server came up asking for our order and we said we didn't want anything and we could leave if we needed to. She said it was okay, but then the owner/manager was very rude to us accusing us of taking up space without ordering. He then referenced a rule on the wall that the server clearly wasn't enforcing, and he was very condescending and rude to us. Also the outside is ugly and the inside looks worse. Would not recommend this establishment.

Igor R.

Yelp
Disclaimer: this is not a reflection of the quality of the bakery, but rather the dining experience. I mean, what the hell, guys? I generally get stuff to-go and never have issue with quick, warm and welcoming service. I love the pastries and teas and stuff. They're great! But today, my girlfriend and I were thinking about getting breakfast at Jim's, but wanted something lighter and remembered Athens does breakfast all day. What a flustercuck. It wasn't that busy, but dining in took forever, even to just sit down. Very slow. The waitress apologized for the wait, asked for our drink orders and promptly forgot them. We got our food 25 minutes later, sans drinks. When I reminded her of the missing drinks, she said the coffee was brewing. I didn't order a coffee.. either way, drinks came out eventually. And.. my food was a bit cold. And we had to walk our way to the front of the shop to get cream, a bit ridiculous for dine-in patrons. The only positive thing from today I can say is that the prices are low. Maybe the waitress was having an off day, maybe she's just used to customers from behind the counter. But I read similar complaints on Yelp. As far back as 7 months ago, you responded to a user with a similar story promising to remedy it. And yet it persists, despite management being aware of it. I'm rarely harsh in Yelp reviews and try to be understanding - especially when it comes to local/small business. But we're not happy and won't dine-in again. Especially when I can just go to Cafe Mirror and get breakfast on the cheap with attentive staff. And again, the bakery is awesome. Readers: Go in, get stuff to go. Baklava is fantastic. But don't eat in.

John S.

Yelp
One of the best kept secrets in Brighton Center-Athans Bakery & Restaurant. "The" Best raisin scones I have ever had. And I've had plenty. In the mornings, hit fresh baked scones, croissants, absolutely the best cup of coffee in town. Quiet, beautiful interior, lovely service. Spectacular cakes, and deserts and gelato. A real European flavor. I love this place.

Dante S.

Yelp
Fantastic Bakery. Fantastic Cookies. Best deal for Breakfast (3-egg omelettes + home fries + toast for $4). Seems like their wait staff has a high turnover rate. John seems to be the only consistent waiter there. He's the tops though. He treats my wife and me like we're his parents, and it's really nice. It feels like a family. I know my wife appreciates it a lot because her family situation isn't particularly "perfect". I am a big fan of Athan's in Brighton. It is my go-to spot for breakfasts on weekend mornings after returning home from practices, and also for dessert when I'm walking home from dinner at a restaurant down the road. I go at least once per week, and would like to go more often. - Scarnecchia

Joe S.

Yelp
Fine for coffee and sandwiches, but the sweets are very rich in sugar. The black forest is not at all similar to the european one.

Vivian C.

Yelp
According to the server at the counter, their cakes come to their store frozen. I found her to be helpful and patient. I was redeeming a voucher and left with a box of 4 types of baklava ($12/lb), one small mango cake $4.95 from the refrigerated case, and a frozen tiramisu parfait $4.45. 12 pieces of baklava were a smidge under a pound. The chocolate finger one was okay for what it was given that the chocolate core was solid. The date (or was it fig?) square bundles were okay. But I personally enjoyed the nut (walnut & pecans?) versions a lot more. And for me, the texture and resistance of the sheeted version was preferred over the one wrapped with phyllo strings. The parfait was light and creamy and tasty enough. The mango cake was fruity, creamy, sweet, and very moist. In the past, I've had their gelato, and would recommend it. Street parking was easy to find each time I've visited thus far.

Gauravi P.

Yelp
The bakery itself is very spacious and elegant. The service was wonderful. We ordered the lemon cake and this almond brittle in the shape of a tart. Both were good but not amazing. The lemon cake was a combination of lemon mousse and cake with syrup. I was a fan of the lemon mousse part of the cake but just found the cake to be dry and the syrupie part way too sweet. I would only come back here to try the beverages and enjoy free wifi while working on my laptop. No thank you to trying any more of the pastries unfortunately.

Angelina W.

Yelp
I used to love their exquisite cakes. Got their almond cakes this afternoon. When about to eat it, found 2 ants on the cake. Then I turned the cake upside down and found 2 more ants. So disappointed

Daphne C.

Yelp
This is a great place to spend a morning studying or reading. I loved stopping by after church to pick up some treats before settling in for the day. They are usually not super busy, but you will have to generally get things for yourself. It is not really tableside service. They have such a large selection of cakes, cookies, and sweet treats. They also have a large selection of food for brunch or lunch. I have had many of the mousse cakes and cookies. My favorite is the Bolero; the Jamiaca and Tiramisu are also good. The hot chocolate is delicious and very chocolatey just the way I like it. The cookies are divine and homemade. Best of all it is not expensive for the quality of the food.

Jack L.

Yelp
Nice place! Very quiet and spacious. Very good deal on breakfast. Everyone here is very sweet. Brighton location.

S G.

Yelp
I tried only the chocolate cake so far and didn't like it. It's topped with an inch of a mix of sugar powder and chocolate crumbs! The only tasty part of this cake was the side chocolate sheet, the cake itself... mej. Just cloying sweet

Sally B.

Yelp
Athan's seems like a good idea, but I'm not sold. Their pastries look good, but are quite pricey ($3.25 for a piece of apple strudel). I got the cheese pastry and actually had to throw away part of it because it tasted so bad. Still, I went back yesterday to give them another try and for once there were seats available, but the people in line ahead of us got the last breakfast panini, the only breakfast sandwich on their menu (we were there at noon, but still, it was New Year's Day!). My friend and I were much happier when we finally trekked down the road to Starbucks, which had multiple breakfast sandwiches, cheaper pastries, and ample seating. I might try Athan's one more time before giving up completely, but I won't be going out of my way to visit here again.

Salome M.

Yelp
Have been here multiple times. This time around we had the pressed chicken Quesadilla and the fried eggs and cheddar panini. The panini was exactly what i expected and wanted. The best decision we took was to have the apricot & almond strudel. Its was DELICIOUS. Also had the chai latte and the regular coffee. The coffee was strong, hot and well brewed, just the way I like it. Everything under $30 total between 2 people. For some strange reason they had a mix of mexican (i guess as it was Cinco de mayo) and middle eastern music playing in the background. Oh well....

Phil C.

Yelp
Don't get me wrong, I like Athan's cakes and gelato. Their baklava is great for a party. I gave the Brookline location 4-stars. So why the low grade for this location? BECAUSE THE SERVICE IN THIS PLACE IS MADDENINGLY INCONSISTENT! You don't know what you'll get in terms of service. One day, you'll get a kind middle-aged lady that's polite and patience. The next day, you'll get some db hipster that doesn't care, and will overcharge you. I once went to get a citron cake for a special occasion. The guy was polite and charged me a certain amount, which was fair. The next time I went to get this same cake for another occasion, a haughty jerk in front first says (in an annoying tone), "We charge here by the pound." I received the sticker shock of having my cake more than double the amount I paid for before. Every time I call this location for pricing for large cakes, they never give me a clear answer. So I usually just get the individual-sized cakes because you know the cost for that. Otherwise, service here is generally apathetic and inexperienced. This Athans location doesn't know what it wants to be: full-service, part-service, or self-service. The people in front don't know when to serve when someone is seated and it just seems really haphazard. Even being at the front counter to order sometime to go takes too long. If you can, just go to the Brookline location. Yeah, their service is not perfect and they don't serve meals there, but it's a nicer spot.

Dasha G.

Yelp
Super delicious as usual! Very fresh pastry and yummy baklava. The only thing is - not a friendly lady at the register today still a great place to gain some weight lol

Katherine C.

Yelp
It really does pain me to see such potential in an adorable pastry shop, but the customer service being quite deficient. I walked in on a Tuesday evening, and the woman at the counter seemed already annoyed at me, as though I was a nuisance for being a customer. The cookies didn't have labels on them so I asked what kind each were, and she was a bit rude in her response. The cookies themselves were brittle and dry. I haven't tried the baklava. I'm sure they're better. The set up is clean, and they have a variety of cakes and sweeter, more decadent goods. I just have to ask for better service. I've worked in the food industry as a waitress, bartender, and barista, and seeing a place with great potential but poor attitude from staff is heartrending.

Anthony G.

Yelp
I went here one morning for breakfast and it was so good that I had to go back the next day. They had a cheese filled pastry in one of the displays at the front and it was absolutely amazing. I also got a croissant and it was a standard above average croissant. The next day, I got the eggs Benedict and it was really good. It's disappointing that the eggs Benedict comes on toast rather than an English muffin but the taste made up for that fact. Lots of other reviews talk about poor service but I didn't experience that in either of my trips.

Victoria A.

Yelp
Athan's has some really delicious treats. Not to mention some great decor. A staple of Washington Street if you ask me. Let me break down why I have such a tasty pastry shop 3 stars. ALMOND CROISSANT. BAKLAVA. Absolutely delicious! The almond croissant is fluffy, slightly sweet, and just overall decadent. The baklava comes in so many varieties. I also have gotten their cakes a few times. The mango creme is nice. Their breakfast is pretty tasty and a good value. As much as I love Athan's, I really would only grab something from there to go. The dining service is a headache. It's very slow and a little unorganized. The prices are cheaper than what you'd find in Brighton center for breakfast but the service really kills the experience. With that being said, grab a pastry to go but pass on dining in.

Cha Cha W.

Yelp
The good, they've now begun offering free wifi. The bad, quality of service has steadily dropped, ergo the minus 1 star. Baked goodies are still great and it's still equally pleasant to hang out all evening here getting some work done, however, the waitress was actually pissed off at me for waiting 15 minutes at the counter when her co-worker chatted on his cellphone, fixed himself a drink all the while stared at me without a word. Plus she got my order wrong. This hasn't been the first time that this happened. The little counter display with all the tea cups and assorted chocolates have stayed the same for ages but now the china and shelving have a thick layer of dust covering. Makes me really sad to see a little gem like this fall so far.

Alicia M.

Yelp
I've been coming here since I was a kid, and I still love it so much! It's so cozy inside and the staff is so friendly! My favorite thing to get is the rice pudding because it's delicious! This place also just has to much character and adds a lot of charm to Brookline!

Lisa B.

Yelp
I had the same experience Roni K. had buying a "Rosie's" pecan pie from Athan's Bakery this Thanksgiving. This was clearly not a Rosie's pie. So soupy that on the ride home it seeped out of the box and all over my car seat. It was still soup on Thanksgiving Day when I tried to serve it ( I had hoped it would gel overnight). We threw it away (along with the $30 I paid) and had no dessert. Both Rosie's and Athan's should be ashamed for selling this overpriced sugary slop.

Heather D.

Yelp
I hadn't been here in quite a while and was surprised at how run down it looked on the inside. The walls are really beaten up and could use a fresh coat of paint. Even the coffee menu over the counter was lacking in style. Class it back up! This place is a gem and should shine like one! The pastries and coffee were delicious as always and I definitely recommend their cakes!

Dan G.

Yelp
All I can say is I can't wait to go back. Basically, if you are looking for a luscious, rich dessert then this is your place. Looking for anything yummy? Come here. I had a white chocolate genache almond tort which was delicious. I need to come back and try their fig mousse which looked awesome. They have a large assortment of baklava and other sweet n sticky greek desserts!

Bebe K.

Yelp
There are many competent ethnic bakeries on this street. Athan's is greek and in addition to coffee, pastry and icecream it sells soup. It's really more of a cafe than a bakery. The sign outside says all day breakfast. I ordered the lentil soup and Diet Coke for lunch. The soup was accompanied by store bought white bread toast. This surprised me. Perhaps white bread toast is part of the BREAKFAST ALL DAY DINER SHTICK? Whatever...... Great neighborhood place for people who live within walking distance. I'd choose this place over a Panera's or Starbucks any day if given the choise. The server was extremely kind and polite. The restaurant was clean and spacious....perfect for long intimate talks with friends. It was "decorated with care" Non illuminated branches strung with crystals hung from the high ceilings. I wondered if they would have been more exciting if the crystals had been backlit with fairy lights.

James F.

Yelp
ACTUALLY CLOSES WAY BEFORE 10pm. I like Athan's a lot. They have some really delicious desserts that spare no calories in their deceptively filling sizes. And the espresso and free wifi are great if you stay to eat. However, this is probably the seventh time I've come to grab something to go at 9:30 and the door is locked. The door which actually has a sign that says they're open until 10. I've been annoyed by this so many times that I'm writing my first Yelp review just to say it. Two people have actually shown up since I've started typing. Needless to say, none of us are going home with desserts even though the door says we still have 20 minutes to buy them. I can also see an employee right inside who ignored the knocks of one rejected customer. This is also not the first time I've witnessed that. If Athan's wants to close at 9:30 that's no problem with me. I, and many others, could just show up earlier. But why they persist in advertising that they are open until 10 despite consistently not being open is beyond me. They probably lost $40 in sales just in the time I typed this tonight. I'd gladly review Athan's much higher if they would either change their advertised times or stay open until when they say they are.

Erik O.

Yelp
Just realized they have more than just cookies and baked goods. i'm def checking out their bfast soon. They have a surprising amount of seating in back, complete with wait staff. Its nice not to have to trek all the way to the north end to get this type of stuff.

Warren A.

Yelp
As others had commented the service is lousy and they were not busy I asked for silverware several times(how do you stir your coffee without a spoon?) The place was also a mess with uncleared tables. It felt dirty Worse yet my omelette was very salty. I eat it because I was hungry but I should have sent it back. I was hungry! I won't be back Heard back from owner. Will likely try again

Poor customer service beside the rude demeanor by both severs I not sure why I had to wait over 20 mins for panini sandwiches as French toast there a place less than 1 min from them that way better customer service and get your order correct.

Yelp
I've been here only a couple times since moving to Brighton last July. The first was back in February. I got myself a heart-shaped chocolate hazelnut mousse cake, which was delicious! (I posted a picture). Then this past weekend I took my cousin here because he was craving some dessert. We got a chocolate cake and a chocolate eclair, which I have no complaints about! And the coffee here is really good too. We came back again the next morning to try and get some work done. We had a chocolate croissant for breakfast, which was a little too crispy for my liking...like a hard, almost stale-type crispy, but still good I guess. I was really disappointed that the wi-fi was so weak because the atmosphere was perfect for getting work done. I ended up leaving after eating breakfast because of the wi fi. They serve brunch here and it actually gets pretty packed in the morning because of it so I'd be interested in coming back to try brunch.

Yelp
European gelato in Boston. Better than any other gelato places in town, including those in the North End. I brought my kids (10 & 7) here and server, Kate, went the extra mile for us. She got gelato flavors from out back because they were not available up front. Great place, great product(s), great staff.

Yelp
When I lived in Boston I would often frequent this bakery/coffee shop. They have delicious mix of classic cookies, cakes, and Mediterranean style deserts. I often stop by on my trips to Boston

Yelp
My girlfriend and I stopped in here on a chilly afternoon for some brunch. On first inspection this is a roomy establishment with high ceilings and a lot of floor space. Local Brighton folks were sitting with coffees reading books or fiddling with iPads and we seemed almost like an intrusion to their usual peaceful coffee spot by ordering food. Clearly this place has its fans and regulars. We sat and waited for some time before my girlfriend finally asked the waitress if we had to place our orders at the register. She seemed surprised that we wanted to order something and said she would be with us shortly. This place seems sparsely staffed. Once we had her attention though, we were greeted with speedy service, although there was a lot of confusion about the menu. The 3 egg omelette has a variety of options, but they weren't clearly spelled out. One option listed, "Ham bacon, prosciutto" which looked really good until I was informed that they were all separate options and an additional $2 each. So I got pancakes instead. My girlfriend wanted tea and was given the very lengthy tea menu as well as the "cup or pot" options which in themselves can be large or small. That's a lot to choose from! In the end though, the food came quickly and was quite good! I checked out the men's restroom and it seemed pretty clean overall. Maybe it needed a brief touchup, but I was impressed nonetheless. My only recommendations to the owner would be to promote the brand more strongly, hire a few more people, and make some edits to the menu. Otherwise this place looks pretty good! We will probably be back.

Yelp
Big thumbs up from me. Perfect place to enjoy a sunny Sunday afternoon if you're not in a hurry and want to enjoy some quiet reading with food. They have a high ceiling and a big airy space that is not over-crowded with tables. While I was there I got a cellphone call from somebody with a soft and low-pitched voice, but was able to maintain the conversation in spite of the dozens of other people eating there. Big selection of sweet pastries, napoleons, eclairs, noisettes, etc as well as some savory pastries filled with cheese or spinach. Decent selection of panini, though using ordinary square bread was a false note. Could use a little tightening up on organization - e.g. unclear whether to get in line for counter service, or sit down. I ended up ordering at the counter, then sitting down, then going back two more times to the counter to order extra courses, because for sure nobody was checking in to freshen my coffee or see if I wanted more. Nobody even seemed to be keeping an organized tab of what I was ordering -- maybe they were but at some stage I listed from memory all the things I'd order to help the staff member I was talking to. I personally like it that way since I never have the feeling that they're in a hurry to move me on. But if you come in expecting table service and somebody fussing over you ("hi my name is Django and I'll be you're waitron for tonight" "are you enjoying the dish I put down on your table about two minutes ago?" "are you still enjoying it now that it's been five minutes?" "can I fill that water glass that you've taken two sips out of?" ) then you've come to the wrong place.

Yelp
I frequent here quite often. Huge fan of their pastries, eggs a la greque, and coffee. The baklava is really what keeps on bringing me back. It's the moist type (my Arabic friend prefers the drier type) that I absolutely love, especially as a treat with a coffee. Good sitting atmosphere, great food. Highly recommend if you're in the area.

Yelp
The location in brookline is way better for some reason. The brighton location is always stifling hot and has less selection.

Yelp
Delicious desert and fantastic freshly roasted coffee! We were just visiting Boston and happen to run in to this little gem. Great environment, simple but very clean and high ceilings give it a very pleasant feeling. The chocolates are fantastic. The staff very friendly. Great overall experience! Highly recommended!
