Athena Gourmet Market

Google
This Gourmet Market in Astoria is filled with a wide variety of products from Greece. Browsing the aisles was honestly a treat—there’s something unique and interesting on every shelf, from specialty chocolates (which I really enjoyed) to beautiful mugs and gifts. They have hot prepared meals and an inviting dessert section. The olive oil we picked up was outstanding—rich, flavorful, and clearly high quality. My only hesitation was with the desserts. While the selection looked tempting, some items (like the tulumba) didn’t appear especially fresh, so I decided to pass on them this time. Overall, it was a lovely experience just to visit and explore. If you’re in Astoria and interested in Greek products or just want to find something a little different, I definitely recommend stopping by!

The inside is very clean. Right next door there’s a café, which makes the location even nicer. They also carry a great selection of Greek ingredients and products—you can find things here that are hard to get elsewhere. Definitely worth a visit!

Athena Gourmet Market in Astoria is a beautiful and cozy gem. The ambiance is warm and inviting—perfect for a quiet coffee break or catching up with a friend. Their mocha and matcha latte were both delicious, rich in flavor and perfectly balanced. A lovely spot that blends Greek charm with café comfort. Definitely worth a visit!

I am so happy this place exists. Finally a proper market that it looks and feels modern (Bonus the name of my Home town 😉). The way it should be in 2024. Stuff is amazing, clean, helpful and they know how to make you feel welcome. I drove all the way down from CT because I was hoping to find some new Greek items and especially Greek pita made in Greece (not the fake Kontos etc made in the USA that they call pita). I found real Greek pita and that would be enough for me to be happy but in my surprise this place is full of great products from small family producers from all over Greece. The selection is amazing even for a market of this type that you will find anywhere if you travel to Greece. I am a Chef and I was tired packing my luggage’s every time I go to Greece with stuff I can’t find here. 80% of the stuff I was buying from Greece I can buy them in this Market now. The nice lady on the counter packed all my stuff for 3 separate families properly and she was so kind to offer me also a bag of chips and a nice Greek lemonade for my trip back to CT. Greek hospitality & proper service at its best.

If you are looking for anything Greek related this is your spot. It shares a locale with a great coffee store as well, so you can sit out on the porch with a coffee once you’ve don’t all your essential purchases. A 10/10 experience

Google
I absolutely love this market, I go there everyday to get food, I don’t even need to cook for myself anymore. Their to go food is delicious and have a great selection of desserts and freshly made meals. Also the selection of items at the store is great. They also always have holiday related specialty items like ginger houses for Christmas or Chocolate decorated eggs for Easter. I love the staff, people are so friendly, my favorite in there is Anastasia, she always serves me with a smile and makes my day! Everybody is super friendly and helpful!

This is a beautiful cafe with a wonderful selection of products in the adjoining store. Unfortunately the cafe serves everything in disposable plastic which not only causes cancer but destroys the planet. The store is wonderful, but I will not return to the cafe unless this changes.

A taste of Greece, right here in Queens! Absolute best selection of authentic Greek staples, treats and more, directly from the Greek Aisles. Grab a coffee, relax in the outdoor cafe, then go shopping. You will not be disappointed!

Yelp
Attached to Under Pressure and such a great sister biz! You can purchase hot food to go like traditional Greek dishes like pistachio and moussaka, I can't wait to try some of it next time I go. I was able to buy a 6 pack of my Greek soda! Checking out, the woman was so nice and we chatted about how dangerous it is to work there. Between the chocolates and specialty items I would be eating everything in sight. Looking forward to coming back very soon!

Yelp
This cute little marketplace has many Mediterranean goodies and specialties. Other than what's on the shelves, there is also a fresh bakery section, some steam tables of hot foods, a good selection of cheeses, and even an olive bar. Connected to the marketplace is also a nice cafe with indoor and outdoor seating. I met then oner and had a small chat. Nice friendly guy. I wish them the best of luck.

Yelp
I've walked by and into this place before and finally for to try their hot food bar!! It's a very clean organized place and the people there were so helpful, smiley, and kind! The two things we got were so delicious and felt hearty. And we got a lot of food for something that's ~$15 each. They have an "outdoor" seating that's covered within glasses. It looked like they have some authentic Greek grocery stuff and I'd love to try them next time. I had a great time there!

Yelp
Located in a great spot on 31st Street in Astoria. The market was is super clean and full of many Greek options. There is aisles of imported goods, local offerings and many organic products as well. The Greek bakery specialities are vast and prices are reasonable. They also have mini cheese/spinach pies! I highly recommend taking home some delicious pastries, they are so fresh and tasty. There is a small parking lot and a coffee shop Under Pressure connected for a quick frappe .

Yelp
Oh Ellada, how I miss you! Lucky for me, Athena market is the perfect merge of cafe, sweet shop (zaxaroplasteio) and grocery store. Their selection of feta impressed me especially since they carry a brand sourced from the village my grandfather is from! Grab a coffee and do a little people watching before you shop for the week. That's the Greek way!

Yelp
As soon as you step in to the store, you feel like you're in Greece! This market has a modern gourmet feel. They have an amazing selection of imported foods from baked goods, to staple items, even frozen fish. You can find all kinds of snacks, sweets, canned goods, olive oil, anything and everything. I need to try their cafe too. They also have tables. It does get very busy though so plan accordingly.

Yelp
Service is amazing and food is amazing!!!!The only thing is the octopus in olive oil is overcooked and tastes like rubber.

Yelp
I confess there is a significant part of me that wants to keep this gem of a market secret, but my respect and affection for the entire staff exceeds my desire to be reserved. I can't seem to remember the last time a new business made such an incredible first impression on me. The prices are extremely reasonable and they do not take advantage of the fact that most items are imported and of the highest quality. Further, they were very warm with me and welcoming. it would be an injustice for me not to leave this review that was not requested of me. I look forward to being a loyal customer for years to come.

Yelp
Wonderful market with quality imported products from Greece : they sell items like honey , olive oil , chocolates , homemade pastries etc . The space is modern and clean . You can also enjoy a variety of coffees next door . They even have outdoor seating . It's a great addition to the neighborhood.

Yelp
