Nature and Parks in Atlanta

"In a city riddled with traffic, this rails-to-trails greenway that will eventually allow folks to bike, walk, or run a circle around Atlanta has been a most welcome addition. Right now only a few disparate sections are completed, and they’re great for both outdoor time and people-watching. The most lively section is the Beltline Eastside Trail in the Old Fourth Ward/Inman Park/Midtown area, which is packed on weekends and weeknights with pedestrians who use it for jogging, skateboarding, and cycling, or simply to stroll from one Beltline-adjacent brunch spot, brewery, or coffee shop to the next. The Beltline Northside Trail, which meanders through residential Collier Hills, is a bit more peaceful and tree-centric, with access to quiet Tanyard Creek Park, Bobby Jones Golf Course, and an area dubbed Cathedral Woods. Beltline is open to the public from 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM, but it’s best during daylight hours." - MATADOR_NETWORK

Google
Atlanta’s best kept secret, because most would agree that it’s a mystery to find. I can say that, as I am quite familiar with Atlanta. It’s almost something that you stumble upon by mistake. This place is an artist and photographer’s dream. Every turn is a new slab of graffiti. You may even see a model doing a photo shoot. This place is also dog friendly. Plenty of walking, biking and jogging. Almost too many bikers and scooters honestly. There are a lot of restaurants to choose from as well.

Google
Definitely a MUST SEE!! Variety of authentic small businesses, breweries, food hubs, bars and cigars! Fun events and walking trail with historic art and grandeur! Charming and adventurous for the entire family

Google
Amazing concept connecting housing, shops, restaurants and more in a 22 mile radius. Still in development. Perfect for a nice weather day to walk or bike a few miles or more! Impressive artwork along the way. Fun people watching, ton of action and life in motion. Be careful to stay to one side of the road while walking or you risk getting mowed over by some sort of bike or scooter!

Google
Lovely place for an afternoon walk. Away from the chaos of the city. Beautiful and unique art to see all along the path. There was even a jazz musician playing when I was there. Friendly people- a mix of tourists and locals. There’s a lot of shops and restaurants where you can stop along the way. And there’s parts of it that are green where you feel like you’re no longer in a city

Whenever I want to go for a long walk. I go to the Atlanta Beltline. I walked for 3 hours and took pictures. It's a little crowded these days. But overall always a good walk.

Yelp
This pathway reminds me of the Dequindre Cut in Detroit. It's a nice pathway with many things to see in Atlanta. There were bikers people riding on scooters, people walking, and a few runners. Following this path got us to Lee + White For a nice afternoon lunch. I would definitely return when I have more time to walk, but it needs to be cooler when I do so.

Yelp
The BeltLine in Atlanta is one of the city's most dynamic and vibrant areas, offering a mix of culture, art, food, and recreation. This 22-mile loop, which was once a railway corridor, has been transformed into a lively space for walking, biking, and exploring. It connects multiple neighborhoods and serves as a central hub for both locals and visitors. The BeltLine is a food lover's paradise, with an impressive variety of dining options lining the route. Whether you're craving upscale Southern cuisine, international flavors, or casual bites, there's something for everyone. Some standout spots include Ponce City Market, which houses several trendy restaurants and food stalls like Botiwalla (Indian street food) and Hopdoddy Burger Bar. Nearby, Krog Street Market offers an eclectic range of eateries, such as The Spotted Trotter for gourmet charcuterie and Ziba's Mediterranean for fresh, flavorful dishes. For a more casual experience, food trucks and outdoor eateries pop up regularly along the BeltLine, offering everything from tacos and sliders to gourmet donuts. The area's growing culinary scene makes it a must-visit for anyone seeking a great meal. One of the BeltLine's most unique features is its incredible street art. From colorful murals to smaller, more intricate installations, the BeltLine serves as an open-air gallery. The Atlanta BeltLine Murals Project has turned several walls into massive works of art, showcasing both local and international artists. As you walk or bike along the path, you'll encounter vibrant pieces that reflect the city's diversity and creative spirit. One of the most notable murals is the "Atlanta's BeltLine Project Mural," a large-scale piece featuring iconic Atlanta imagery. The street art gives the BeltLine an ever-changing energy, with new pieces popping up regularly. It's an essential experience for art lovers or anyone who appreciates urban culture. The BeltLine is incredibly bike-friendly, with dedicated bike lanes that stretch for miles. Whether you're commuting or simply enjoying a leisurely ride, the path offers a smooth, well-maintained route that connects different neighborhoods like Inman Park, Old Fourth Ward, and West End. The BeltLine has made biking in Atlanta safer and more accessible, and you'll often see people riding at all hours of the day. For those without bikes, Relay Bike Share stations are scattered along the route, making it easy to hop on and off. The path also offers scenic views of the city, including green spaces, public parks, and glimpses of Atlanta's skyline, making it a perfect way to experience the city on two wheels. The BeltLine has a distinct and inviting ambiance that draws both locals and tourists. During the day, it's a relaxed, sunny environment perfect for strolling, cycling, or people-watching. In the evenings, the area comes alive with the hum of conversations spilling out from patios, the glow of streetlights, and music from local performers. There's an undeniable energy here--a mix of urban vibrancy and outdoor leisure. Whether you're visiting during the day or at night, the atmosphere is always lively yet welcoming. The green spaces, like Piedmont Park and The Eastside Trail, provide an escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Many people take to these areas to relax, have picnics, or enjoy outdoor yoga classes. It's a versatile environment that's perfect for anyone, whether you're looking for peace and quiet or excitement and action.

Yelp
Very nice outdoor area for walking your dog or yourself. Skating, pushing a stroller or just people watching. I grabbed lunch at the Ponce Market and enjoyed it while taking in the sights at Belt Line!! Great place

Yelp
I love the beltline! It's really added to the city, offering more green space and outdoor activities than ever before, with more added all the time. Great for walking, jogging, riding or scooting, solo or family! Also, awesome for walking your dogs!

Yelp
It's a beautiful and pleasant place to have a leisure stroll, get a work out in, or catch up with a buddy with a good meal or cup of coffee. What's not to love. The different variations of art and murals is a nice.

Yelp
Duplicate review, see Yelp Review Eastside Beltline for pictures. Quality/Quantity - During our Beltline walk, it took us to the Atlanta Dogwood Festival. Too bad they were still setting up, so not many activities for us to enjoy. The Beltline walk itself was okay. Shared with cyclists, who I feel ride way too fast for such a narrow walkway. I can see that fights can happen due to this safety issue, especially if you have young kids walking. We started our walk at Krogers, see other Yelp reviews. Walked by Park Tavern, Ponce Market, etc. Minimum artwork along the path. See my few pictures. A few shaded spots. Atmosphere - See above. 22 miles of multi use trails. I believe this trail used to be a rail line...? Events - See website. Interesting that the goal of the Beltline was to connect neighborhoods, but it might have added to gentrification of the area/areas... Service - Self service. Price - Free. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 2005. As of mid-2017, completed trails include: Eastside Trail Northside Trail Southwest Connector Trail West End Trail Westside Trail as well as interim hiking trails.

Yelp
Was able to ride scooters one way and then walk back. Very well traveled path by people, bikes, scooters, dogs, skaters. Many things are sold and offered as you walk.

Yelp
It is a beautiful walk (or jog, bike, scooter, skateboard, roller skate...). Scenic and amazing to feel in nature in the middle of a big city. We walked from the Ponce City Market past Piedmont Park. Very nice walk. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Definitely one of the places I frequent most in Atlanta. Walking, running, biking, or skating on the Beltline is a great way to get outside and enjoy the city. It can get very hot on high temperature days so I try to avoid the areas where there are very few trees or shade. It's definitely a very popular place to be and can get very crowded especially during a sunny summer day!

Yelp
One of the greatest things about Atlanta is the Beltline!! The concept was to made up of old historic railways, that would be turned into something that would bring new opportunities and unite the community. A GA Tech student in the late 90's started the project, which was meant to improve the city in many ways, including connecting neighborhoods that previously were divided, display public art, and add green space to name a few. I have been walking and biking the beltline in summers since 2016. I used to live farther outside of the city, so I would make special trips to go visit, but now live a bit closer and am able to enjoy walks on the beltline more regularly. It is comprised of a 22 mile loop around the city. You'll run into walkers, joggers, bikers, skaters and even electric scooters (which btw I think are supposed to be banned on the loop, but I still do see them) moving around in both directions. The space is wide enough to fit everyone to move comfortably! You'll walk past everything from nature, to Piedmont park, to residences, to bars, to restaurants, to food halls like Ponce and Krog Street, to beautiful murals and street artists putting on performances. Be sure to keep an eye out for some tiny doors as well! My favorite part is the part behind Ponce, by Krog and going to Park Tavern in Piedmont Park. I have always found free parking at Historic Fourth Ward Park, which is also a beautiful stop to walk through during your Beltline walk. I love all of the murals on the walk and bar patios that you can stop by to grab a refreshment! If you are a local, I am sure you have already experienced the Beltline, but if you are just visiting Atlanta, checking out the Beltline, even just a small portion of it, is a must!!

Yelp
Loooooooove the BeltLine! Visited during this beautiful weather over Christmas break. I just loved it!!! $10 parking at Park Tavern. Very convenient. I just wished we lived a little closer... maybe a 20 minute drive versus 30. However- it was awesome!

Yelp
The beltline is fun. Sometimes overly crowded, but it is so crowded because it's a lot of fun. Great place to walk, run, take the dog, and people watch. They also have a lot of great places to eat along the way.

Yelp
Parked in Ponce City Market parking garage off Ponce de Leon to jump onto the Beltline. My first time officially walking on the Beltline in Atlanta. I paid $11.60 to park in garage for 8 hours. The options were 1,2,3,4, 8 hours or more. I chose 8 hours. I knew we'd be there at least 4-5 hours. Halfway through our walk, we stopped for a relaxing lunch at Shake Shack for about 1 hour. Altogether walked more than 16,000 steps without even realizing it! We started about 9:00am, so it was still cool. Beautiful sunshiny day! Coming back we also ventured to Starbucks inside the beautiful new Kroger grocery store just directly across from the access point from PCM to get onto the Beltline, to get an ice coffee. Since it was still early, the trail wasn't too crowded, which was nice. The views along the path are pretty with nice apartments, townhouses and restaurants. When we had walked to the end of the trail down to Kroger Street, you could continue walking by going left or right. We chose to turn around, go back to the beginning and walk a good distance in the opposite direction, which put us behind Home Depot, and Trader Joe's. After our walk, we went inside Ponce City Market and walked around visiting different shops. We sat down inside for a couple of hours drinking a beer, and chatting it up. Altogether we spent about 7 hours and 40 minutes there! Time flies when you're having fun! I can't wait to try a different access point onto the Beltline. I hear it's beautiful along the entire trail. I finally made it there and so glad I did. Don't sleep on experiencing the Atlanta Beltline. You can skate and even ride your bike! Atlanta is simply awesome!
