Atlanta Masjid of Al-Islam

I'm a new Shahada and reside mainly in Connecticut so to see such a large community with such an amazing presence was a huge blessing. Can't wait to visit again 10/10/25! The people were so welcoming. We loved shopping with the vendors and checking out the Halal market. I'm spoiled now lol as returning to Connecticut doesn't feel the same

Not new to this community, spent four months attending services here due to my Work, I never been to a majority African American masjid before I am use to a blend of different Muslims from all backgrounds. I eventually decide to leave this masjid because of the mixing and the In modesty behavior of both sex. I understand we are striving and most of us are reverts but there should be a line drawn in moral conduct, the men of the community do feel obligated to approach you and mingle especially around the masjid and hang out spot ( spring greens ) I was very uncomfortable with the mixing some of the elders explained that it wasn’t always like this , with pity I held on because I needed a place to pray until my contract ended , coming from a mosque were men and women are separate even when praying we have a thin cloth to separate us to what I had witnessed is a big shocker to me as a African American women . I just couldn’t grasp the laid back attitude towards the mixing , Most of the women of this community do not wear proper clothing, exposing their beauty and adornments and nothing is ever corrected , they are not soft with their voices and are heard way before you see them , so if a modest family needs a masjid to come to while in town or even on this at side of town I don’t suggest this masjid due to blunt temptation and ignorance of the people . I do have a understanding that a lot of these Muslims do come from the Nation of Islam and some do hang on to the ideology of it , even down to those chairs . On a good note the doors are always opened so you can quickly pray and get out as fast as you can .

Alhamdulillah for this GEM of a Masjid! Wonderful community life, great environment for all ages, scholarship of all levels teaching classes!

I have been coming back and forth for over three months. Alhumdulelah, just moved to Atlanta. Everyone has been very welcoming.

Superb place to get a balanced presentation of Islam. Extremely welcoming group of people who obviously put family, community and spirituality at the forefront of their lives. This place is without a doubt a jewel for the Atlanta community. 🙏🏾 Drop by, I'm sure you won't regret it.

I loooove this Islamic community. It's waaay better and more accepting than the one I go to in Richmond, VA. I took my first Shahata there, celebrated the Eid Fest there, and experienced the NIGHT of Power there as well. Im definitely moving down to ATL soon.

One of my favorite masjids in Atlanta. Very active community with consistent events and lectures. Great mix of old, young, reverts, born-Muslims and more. The Muslims here display good adab and friendliness.

Super Masjid. Imam with sense of humor and sisters have super powers as they keep the crowd moving and satiated during Ramadan's Memorial Day ifthar. One super sister in particular is owed an extra salad (different from Salat) inshallah.

Salaaamz. Traveling from Cali and visited jummuah today. Absolutely full of life, love and peace. I have never received such warm welcomes even at my own local masaajid back home--despite me being the only euro-brotha ;). The masjid was very clean and well taken care of. Security and amenities were on point. The khateeb was relevant, appropriately charged, and had a poignant way to reach the people. This is a strong, proud community. I like that the congregation was mixed--as is the real sunnah--and the sisters arent thrown into a horse stall. Awesome vendors, butchers, and restaurants outside. Love this masjid! A must visit!

I travel a lot and wherever I am I make it a priority to find a masjid for Jummah I've attended many and I must say Masjif of Al-Islam is ranked number 1. I cried tears of joy the first time in attendance highly recommend. Alhamdulilah

This is one of my top two favorite Masjids to visit so far out of town. I came right at the beginning of Covid March 2020. It was a Sat , i greeted two older brothers as i came in. I told them that i'm from Chicago. They said , Chicago?! Go make salat brother we gonna be sitting right here waiting for you. hahahah They were like my uncles i never knew. We talked for about 20 min May Allah bless this Ummah

When I travel to other cities, I try to visit a local masjid to pray, learn and socialize. Atlanta Masjid of Al-Islam ranks tops on my list for "welcoming masajids." This masjid has the true "Southern hospitality" that makes one feel right at home. Smiles, warm greetings, and loving hugs are the norm here. The Muslim community follows the philosophy of Imam W.Deen Mohammed, so there is a progressive atmosphere. The cultural mix is predominantly African -American, and you're sure to see Muslimahs wearing colorful expressions of modesty. Outside the masjid there is a pop-up shopping area, where you can purchase clothing, books, paintings, cut-up fruit, handmade items and bean pie after Friday prayer. I love this masjid, my husband (an Imam in a northern city)loves it, my children and grandchildren love it - there is something here for everyone to enjoy!

I love coming here because this is the place where I can practice my faith, with people who came to the Islam religion with a similar experience to me. I've learned more about Islam here and prayed with other Muslims here. I can truly see how a family is "raised" in Islam here. I do wish there were more socializing opportunities here for single muslim sisters.... I do remain hopeful :)

What can I say about this Mosque. Excellent leadership! It's truly a gem to the community. Just down the street from the Muslim school. This Mosque is open to everyone. During Ramadan they have classes every evening, they also feed the poor and provide Iftar for everyone. Keep in mind that this Mosque has been there the longest, serving the community. It also has a food pantry now. This Mosque was there during a time when the area was saturated with the ills of drugs and little hope long ago, the area was once labeled little Vietnam. I credit this community for turning this whole area around and now it's a place that is quite diverse. It believes in interfaith initiatives that will bring the community closer. This Mosque also has organizations where women serve on the boards.

This is the first masjid that I have felt comfortable which is very crucial for women.

Salaam alaikum, I recent visit the Atlanta Masjid and found the brotherhood enchanting and full of hospitality. May Allah continue bless this beautiful masjid and the hardworking brothers and sisters in their endeavors to maintain this establishment on piety and righteousness.
