We had an amazing dinner here! It was a busy night but the wait was only about 10 minutes and the service was really great. I was impressed with the flavours and serving sizes. It felt like a place where you really get what you pay for – very reasonable pricing for an impeccable dining experience all around. We shared the clams, I had the panzanella salmon salad, and my boyfriend had the Angela burger (plus we each got a drink and shared a dessert, equally delicious). I highly recommend checking out this restaurant!

Google
Excellent local café that serves more than just coffee! We went for dinner and all of our meals were absolutely dee-lish! I had the fish tacos with fresh salmon, one had pasta and one had the enchilada. The meals were all excellent and a really good size portion! Music in the background was nice and quiet enough for conversation. I would highly recommend The Atlas Cafe if you are visiting Courtenay!!

Had a fabulous time at the Atlas Cafe in Courtney. The mussels with miso are absolutely delicious! I also tried the tuna burger with avocado and it was flavorful and light. If you're in the Courtney/Comox area, then I would definitely check this restaurant out.

Google
Fantastic food, with friendly, fast servers, and a beautiful atmosphere including great music. We were in and out in an hour, with the fact that the place filled up around 15 minutes after we sat down, around 11:38. Overall, a great place to sit down and get a quick delicious meal.

Yelp
Visiting for the day and just googled places for lunch. The reviews were all positive so decided to give it a go. We were not disappointed. There were five of us and all of us enjoyed our meal. The menu had good variety. Two had tuna burgers, one had the salmon bowl, one had tuna tacos and the last had a falafel bowl. All were fantastic. The service was great. Small patio outside. Next time we are in the area, we would go back.

Yelp
One of the best restaurants in Courtenay BC. Well rounded menu prepared by a very competent creative chef. I'm extremely fond of their slant on Mexican specialties i.e. burritos, enchiladas and quesadillas. For breakfast, l indulge in a super flavourful rendition of Huevos Rancheros! Service is very good, servers are excellent and quite knowledgeable, recommending menu suggestions for newcomers. As for prices, they are appropriate for the delicious food, attentive service and ambience. BON APPETITE!!

Yelp
This place doesn't look like much from the outside, but it's great. Wide variety of fresh, hearty and healthy options. Back patio is lovely on a nice day. All the staff were friendly and helpful.

Yelp
It was a hot day for Vancouver island. The cucumber margarita was perfect. Panzanalle Salmón Salad. It was the perfect amount for a warm day. The patio was very nice. The service was perfect.

Yelp
Good food and good service. The portionw were decent and the quality of food was good. The carbonara was packed with different toppings the claims were perfectly seasoned and the chocolate mousse was decadent

Yelp
What a fantastic surprise to come across Atlas. That compliment also reflects on Yelp users doing such a great job! Atlas' setting was quaint and high class at the same time. The staff were very generous with positive attitude, suggestions, and patience. The menu was vast which worried me at first but with the three different dinner choices we made, all of them were extremely well done. I only have two critiques; an old fashion shouldn't have tequila in it and the portions were slightly small (order an appetizer to make up for it) If you're in the area and want good quality, healthy, & clean food. Dropping into Atlas is a must.

Yelp
One of our all time favorites. Food is always amazing, and the staff are super friendly and fun. It has a very good vibe. We have been going regularly since 2006!

Yelp
Everything I had here was delicious and I really enjoyed the patio, a very lovely place to eat! Would come back

Yelp
Been here many times...always awesome...food, service and ambiance! My favourite part about Atlas is how consistent their food is!

Yelp
Good vegan options and nice atmosphere. Nothing that blows your mind, but the food is solid. I got the veggie burger with miso side salad (4.5/5) and I found the burger bun to be perfectly toasted, which to me is the crucial part of a good burger. The burger patty was reminiscent of falafel, though it was still quite tasty and wasn't mushy at all. The side salad was pretty good too as the miso dressing was flavourful and there was a good amount of dressing, something which I personally prefer.

Yelp
Great food and good service. In the hart of downtown Courtney. Enjoy! Regards Donald Balanecki

Yelp
Had a delicious lunch here. Very attuned to dietary restrictions, they subbed guacamole for sour cream on my goat cheese & squash burrito. Delicious. My partner had an enchilada made gf and df. They have tofu options for vegans. Decent selection of teas as well. Great atmosphere.

Yelp
Atlas is delicious and great for small gatherings. The staff is very friendly and there is a diverse food selection!

Yelp
We wanted to try this place because we've never been there. The serving time was insanely quick, and the food was even more quick, but we got luck of the draw there. The milkshake we got was pretty good as well. What amazed me with the main course. I got the Black and Blur burger, and it definitely wasn't what I was expecting. I forget but it either has Blue or Brie cheese, and my god it's the best burger I have ever had. I wanted to go back for a second one but the price deterred me a little. Either way, it was juicy, really creamy (from the cheese) and the bacon was crisp and delicious. My cease salad was good, but I was longing for a bit more dressing on it. Either way, can't complain for a side. Simone got a spaghetti dish. It was tasty, and I wasn't expecting the spice factor but it really lifted the dish onto a new playing field. It was tasty. If you know where to look, go here. You will be surprised, the stuff they serve here should make it a lot more popular than it is.

Yelp
This place is amazing! Food is really good, I would say it's probably better than a lot of restaurants I've been to at Vancouver. The goat cheese tart was very yummy, high recommend. I ordered carbonara, I can taste the wine they used in sauce, very yummy not greasy. Next time I'm coming back to the island, I'm for sure going & try all the other stuff. I had such a tough time on choosing.

Yelp
We love this spot! It's got great food, amazing service and the patio is a great spot to hang out for an evening. We have been here a few times and have yet to have a bad meal - it's always delicious!

Yelp
OMG we had an extraordinary dinner there where we had the Greek platter and everything was delicious to a salmon salad was good (needed crunchy though) and the edamame were drenched in this amazing sauce. So dinner was so good we went back for breakfast and it was a little pricey but just as delicious. My husband had a crab Benny which he loved an I had the veggie frittata which was not a frittata as much as egg with stuff piled on top but it was delicious. My only complaint is that they charge $4.50 for fruit which was a few pieces of melon and a pineapple with a gooseberry... otherwise 5 stars

David H.

Yelp
Very delicious. An interesting menu, the baked burritos were quite good. Had the squash and goat cheese and it was a lovely medley of flavors.

Yelp
Lots of gluten free options that are so good!! Staff are knowledgeable about celiac allergy options, and they are denoted on the menu. My favourite is the pulled pork enchiladas with guacamole is my favourite!!

Yelp
Wow. THis place is good as any high-end restaurant in Vancouver. Classy joint with thoughtful food prepared with care. Its not cheap but if you're looking for a special dinner - go here.

Yelp
I had dinner here a ways back (I think like 2008) and remembered it being to die for good. I had the key lime pie and thats what stuck out to me and made me want to come back here in 2018. I made a reservation here for a Friday night at 7:30 (I probably didn't need to do this). The atmosphere is cute, it's cozy and feels like a home. The menu: I can't say I was overwhelmed by any of the menu options here. To start we shared garlic brie toast (which was probably one of my favourite items I tried. We also shared Nori Rolls, It was good but I don't think I'd order it again. For my main, I chose the Tuna Togarashi Salad. I can't rave about it, but I can't complain about it either. Next time I think I'd ask for the dressing on the side, as it was a bit too saucy for me. My family enjoyed their food and their experience here but it just wasn't the same as back in 2008. One thing you do got to try here is the fresh squeezed juices! They've got about 6/7 types of fruit/veggies you can pick from to make your own personalized juice. And there is no doubt about it, you can't go wrong with fresh squeezed juice.

Yelp
I came here during a weekend getaway and the food was extremely good. Unfortunately the beef brisket bowl was sold out by the time we got there at 12:00, but we had the classic breakfast with sausage and the large chicken and mushroom quesadilla. The classic was very good. Locally sourced ingredients, and fresh eggs. Althogh simple, execution was on point. The chicken quesadilla was huge. Double the size of a normal one, filled with corn, black beans, chicken, mushrooms and cheese. Definitely enough for two people. Its a busy restaurant for a reason.

Yelp
I have enjoyed the Atlas cafe since it's open and having the best fish tacos anywhere ( at least the top 10 in the world) with enchiladas last night made me realize good food always makes life better. Thank you Trent and Sandra for choosing the Valley!

Yelp
I was just here for a friend's birthday. On an initial pass of the menu it looks like it might be hard to put a keto meal together if they were going to be sticklers about adhering to the menu. Instead they were very accommodating and I had their black and blue burger, no bun and no condiments with a Caesar salad. The burger was high quality beef and was cooked perfectly. The blue cheese complimented it perfectly. The Caesar salad rocked and filled me up. I would recommend this place without hesitation.

Yelp
Very tasty meal. I have never had a pear on a burger before and I think it would have been better if it had some flavour. Otherwise prawns, smoked Salmon and service all excellent. We will be back to try a different menu item.

Yelp
Oh-My-Gosh. You know those meals that end up so epic you actually cease to make conversation because it's all about the food. Well that's what happened on my lunch date. We had the beet salad, the atlas salad and shared the chicken sandwich. Every single bite was so fresh. The ingredients used were clearly well sourced. The beet salad gave me envy as it's so hearty with thick warm beets, melting goat cheese and potatoes. It was unreal. The atlas salad was delicious and fresh- but between the two I would go for the beet. The chicken sandwich was on homemade focaccia which was light and airy. There was a generous serving of chicken on the sandwich as well. The ambiance is fairly casual, although some of the serving staff is quite dressed up. The service was very friendly. Overall we will certainly return- the breakfast dishes looked magnificent so I will have to try eventually.

Yelp
Great home made veggie burger and friendly service! It also seems like they have a great brunch setup, I for sure want to give that a try as I love eggs benny! There wasn't much to find at night in Courtney but this restaurant hit the spot for sure. As a vegetarian it's hard to find a veggie burger that's filling and delicious!

Yelp
I went on a date with my girlfriend here last night. My first thought was oh this is a cute little place, has a bar. Then the server led us through and I realized it was much bigger than I thought, although still had a cute aesthetic. Service was great and so was the food. We both had the chicken baked burrito with a side ceaser, we were sitting right by the kitchen and the staff all seemed really nice! Vegan, vegetarian, and gf options as well, would definitely recommend!

Yelp
One of my brunch favourites! Great eggs Bennie. Decent service and certainly worth it

Yelp
This was a great restaurant and an amazing experience. We have recently moved to the island and have been eating out alot. Disappointment after disappointment until atlas cafe. Service was great. Our Waitress Tannis, very good at her job with good knowledge of the menu, great personality and on top of it all. Food was awesome. Despite the fact that the whole restaurant was filled up in a matter of half an hour, dishes were rolling out quite fast and not at the cost of quality. All items perfectly cooked and perfectly presented. I like how the menu is not repetative and items rotate and new ones come quite often. I am a big eater and i found the portions to be satisfying for me so may be bit large for the average eater. I had the angela burger it was delicious. Had pear on it which sounds wierd but tasted awesome with the brie cheese on the burger. Wife had the buddha bowl and loved it ( i must mention shes a picky eater with a high standard for restaurant food ) relative had the meditterenean platter ( terrible spelling im sure) and loved it. Spanakopita was soo good.greek salad great. I personally found the lighting to be overly dim but that just may be me because apparently its a thing now it seems. Overall great experience and would surely return. Im not sure how kid friendly it is, i did see kids there around 3-5 ish and they were ok. Im sure my son would not last longer than 10 minutes but he does that everywhere. PS: if going for dinner show up early place can fill up in a blink or look into reservations

Yelp
Excellent food and service. I do not give out 5 stars often but this place deserves it. It addresses 5 impossible categories: 1) great food (selection, quantity and quality), 2) great service, 3) great price, 4) great location (easy to find and park), and 5) great ambience. I think the ambience was a lacking a bit but it was compensated by the food. I had brunch here with my family and everyone loved it and it was not expensive. Burrito with short rib was $8.75 for small order but was more than enough for lunch. It was packed with slow roasted and hand pulled lean short rib beef that just melts in your mouse along with yam and beans. My mom had eggs benedict topped with blue crab meat and shrimp with hollandaiae sauce. It came with pan fried seasoned potatoes and bountiful of fresh and diverse fruits for $12! The food was prepared and presented delicately. It is the food you would find in high end restaurants in big cities - how do they make money? I heard a great review for their wild salmon burger and will try it next time I am here.

Yelp
I like the dark, moody atmosphere in this little place, great place to bring a date or sit at the bar and have a nice conversation. The service here was attentive without being intrusive and the wait staff were very friendly. Our food arrived quickly, was served hot and was very good. The menu was varied and deserts are homemade on site. A very good restaurant that deserves a try.

Yelp
Amazing food - the roasted garlic and Brie, and goat and beet salad... are incredible. Staff are professional and friendly.

Yelp
We went to lunch at atlas today. Everything was delicious. I had a small quesadilla. I liked it very much. It was huge. Wow wonder what the regular size is like. Service was good as welll
google avatar

Yelp
Tried to have lunch here with the family and after an hour of waiting for a table we gave up since they were letting two's and three's ahead of our party of five. Just poor front end service and will never return to this spot again, very disappointed and ruin a nice day out to support a local restaurant. Give it a pass if you see people outside waiting!
google avatar

Yelp
We dined outside with our golden retriever and the wait staff was really nice about it. They even filled the water bowl for her. We had the inari wrap appetizer to start. For entrees, I had the falafel wrap (they let me order from the lunch menu) and my BF had the large pulled pork burrito. The inari was super good. It was filled with smoked salmon, peas, shredded carrots, and rice. It was so flavorful! The falafel wrap was good but a little dry, since both the whole wheat wrap and falafel were on the dry side. The large pulled pork burrito is crazy big and is meant to be shared, so order a small. Service was courteous and quick. A great place to dine.
google avatar

Maria G.

Yelp
The food was AMAZING! But it is quite dark inside and the drinks were only OK. Not the best dinning experience I have ever had, but I would give this place a second try.

Yelp
We were travelling from Nanaimo to Quadra Island. When we realized we were a little peckish, we decided to look for a restaurant. Since we were traveling with our dog, I needed to find a place with outdoor seating. The Atlas Cafe came up as one the most highly rated restaurants in Courtenay. When I saw that one of the featured reviews mentioned that they were dog friendly, I was sold. First of all, the food was amazing. Hefty portions of flavourful, imaginative dishes. My pulled pork burrito was incredible and my parents thoroughly enjoyed the spicy chicken burrito and the inari pockets. All highly recommended. If you're not looking to burst your pants, my mom and I would both suggest you go for the small size burrito. Also, don't forget to ask about the truffles if you're feeling too full for dessert like we were. They will not disappoint. Secondly, the service was speedy and friendly. There have been many other restaurants where we have been the only people seated on the patio and have been forgotten about. Not the case here. Finally, they were very accommodating to our dog. The water bowl out front is a dead giveaway that all dogs are welcome. All in all, a fantastic experience. Totally worth the drive in to Courtenay from the highway.
