Where to Find the Most Refreshing Wooder Ice in Philly

"This water ice spot right off of Fairmount Park often has a line for its pizza-topped soft pretzels and vibrant water ice — you’ll taste why once you make it through that line. There’s another location in Overbrook if you happen to be on that side of town, too. Note: It’s cash only." - Eater Staff, Dayna Evans, Sarah Maiellano

I was able to sample the mango and passion fruit SOO GOOD they were able to give both mixed. The water ice is extremely worth the price highly recommend and people were so nice. The ice was creamy and very flavorful 🤓🤝. Stumbled upon it waiting for bus, it seems like cash only.

Even on a rainy evening, you may have to wait at this neighborhood gem, but it is well worth it! Watermelon water ice is spot on watermelon deliciousness and makes a fantastic gelati. I don't know what Kings does to their ice cream, but it's incredibly creamy and just straight up dang good.

Long lines but worth the wait! Been coming here for over 20 years. Best water ice in Philly. I gave it 3 stars because this will be my last time visiting. In the 20+ years coming here ive never seen them offer taste tests just because you came to the window. While my water ice was made and melting behind the window, the person helping me stopped my order to give multiple “taste tests” to a couple that SOMEONE ELSE was helping. The couple was not POC. For generations POC have kept this place PACKED but don’t receive the same curtesy it seems. Nothing against people who aren’t POC, the neighborhood is changing for the better and its nice to see everyone coming together over a cold summer treat.

Water ice stand. The good: Seem to be open every day in the afternoon to fairly late in the evening, not quite sure the hours. The water ice is very inexpensive. I got two scoops, he got two large scoops of different kinds and we shared a pretzel. Total was under ten dollars. The pretzels are amazing and really cheap- a buck twenty five and for three bucks you can get a pizza pretzel. That is the highlight of this place imo. They have a lot of flavors. Have water ice, ice cream & gelati. We tried only the water ice. There is always a long line here every time it’s open, thought that meant it was really good. So here’s the not so good: Turns out they’re just really slow to take care of each order. The water ice is just ok. People seem to absolutely love it but personally I find Rita’s to have much better flavors and texture. Overall not worth the 45 minute wait in line (there were maybe 10 people ahead of us, but that is a long time to just get scoops of water ice) it is a quarter of the price of Rita’s so there’s that.

King's Water Ice is a local favorite in North Philadelphia. Located across the street from Fairmount and not too far from the Philadelphia Zoo, the business is often crowded. I really enjoy the warm pretzels and water ice. Many others buy the pizza pretzels and hot dogs or sausages. There is something for the entire family.
