I came here to celebrate my friend's birthday. It's my first time dining here. I've always wanted to try. We had high expectations and they did not disappoint. From the great and attentive service to the impeccable meal, this place truly deserves 5 stars. I won't describe each dish as you can see from the picture, it says it all :) I'll come back, especially lunch since it's very reasonably priced!

Went to this restaurant around lunch time on a weekday. The place was not too busy and we were seated promptly. The chef hardly spoke to the patrons - only a word or 2 when he was serving them. The server was attentive and made sure that our tea cups were always full. The food was good, not spectacular. Some sushi had overpowering wasabi in them and a few repeats. Have had better.

Google
Absolutely beautiful Japanese Restaurant with Omakase style presentation. Fish is super fresh and the sushi master presents his creations to you. It was so good I totally forgot to take pictures asides from the very first dish. All the pieces already perfectly seasoned, in my opinion, so you don't even need additional soy sauce The server for the additional a la carte items was very helpful and helpful. Ambiance pretty traditional and basic with a large TV screen at the far end of the room cycling through scenery of Japan Overall reasonably priced and yummy! Oh... The Taro ice cream for desert was sooooooo good.

This place is a hidden gem, price is reasonable, quality of food is superb. Sushi chef Ethan is a professional chef, knowledge about seafood, every dish explain to us in detail, make our taste journey enjoyable. Kevin server also courtesy and efficient. Love this place, I will bring my friends next time .

Google
Super private experience, came here for a birthday dinner and was amazing! Got served a nice Japanese melon at the end at a request for the occasion, sushi was good especially for beginner omakase individuals! Super attentive staff and service!

Google
Ato is so well priced and so worth it. I’ve never had a bad experience with this omakase spot. Came here for lunch recently for the first time and needed to leave a review. I thought the menu was perfect for lunch and very tasteful. The ambience is so beautiful and peaceful. It’s such a hidden gem! I can’t recommend this enough.

Google
I keep eating Tuna for many of the courses. I’m sure it’s like 4-6 times having tuna. Omakase is all about full of surprise and the experience. But I’m here to tell you my experience is terrible. I’m not joking. I rarely write review but I have to.

Google
Came here to celebrate my cousin's birthday. We had the Ume Omakase for $88: 1. Soup 2. Sashimi appetizer (5 kinds) - The octopus was a bit chewy, but everything else was fresh. 3. 10 pieces of sushi 4. Tamago 5. Chawanmushi 6. Honeydew Overall, it was a great experience. The place was clean, and service was excellent.

Yelp
One of my favorite place for Omakase ... service is excellent and quality of food is very good and price is very reasonable for fresh sushi. Today we went for lunch but have the dinner menu and enjoyed the meal though i found some of the fish less 'bouncy' than past time - it maybe due to the fishes were being already sliced in the container rather than the pieces being cut out as the chef prepares the sushi at the sushi bar ?!? I do feel fishes being sliced in advance instead of at time of serving do not give customers a sense of freshness in the seafood ! Hope ATO management would take this into consideration as i plan to return often.

Juan F.

Yelp
Lunched with few friends today at ATO for Christma. Had their dinner menu as usual. The food and service were very good but did not like the sushi as much since the fishes were pre-cut into slices already, hence the fish texture tasted less firmed. First time I have omakase sushi fishes pre-cut ! Too bad, else it's worthy of 4+ stars!

Yelp
The best omakase I've had in Toronto features extremely fresh sea urchin. It's definitely worth a try. 多倫多食過最好食嘅omakase,海膽非常新鮮,值得一試。

Yelp
Came here during the seasonal tuna cutting showcase. The restaurant is clean and well lit. During this event, you roam around the restaurant to get your food and beverage from different stations. There are no assigned tables and no seats, but there are cruiser tables to use. Workers were attentive and worked well together to keep things running. There was plenty of food for everyone and when there's no line, don't be shy to ask for more! All the fish was delicious and the matcha dessert hit the spot as my last bite. I really enjoyed the experience! Next time, I hope that there will be a non-alcohol option for those who don't drink.

Yelp
I went here for the bluefin tuna and snow crab menu. They have a few star dishes that were really good and then the rest you enjoy the freshness of their fish, but some dishes feel very repetitive. For the price point I don't think it's worth it. I enjoyed these meals, but I'm not keen on going back. The first time I came I found a hair in my dish so they gave us 5% off.

Yelp
July 26, 2024 - I had an amazing and wonderful first time going to an Omakase. My friends treated me to a nice bday dinner , I got some sweet friends! Everything was fresh and my goodness even the eel tasted so good, I don't think I've ever tasted eel like that. My friend said he didn't like the uni, he said it was a bit squishy. It did look a bit runny. But I don't eat uni enough to know if it was good or bad just by looking at it. However it tasted pretty good. The staff were all sweet and welcoming, the chef did an amazing job. The interior of each room was very nice and clean. Loved the aesthetics that they each had. I definitely recommend and would love to do this again.

Yelp
In the last decade, I've seen Omakase jump up in price from $60 to $150. Probably because of raising food prices, pandemic, popularity, etc. Thank goodness we've got places like Ato who are still serving it up at $88. An extremely reasonable value for an amazing dinner! You can also get lunch for $68, another great deal! The Ume dinner for $88 consists of soup, sashimi starter, 10 piece sushi set, hand roll, Chawanmushi steamed egg, and dessert. The fish was fresh, the sushi was super flavourful, and the service was impeccable. I love that they served sashimi as a starter so that you could try additional types of seafood without filling up on rice. For example, they served 1 type of Uni with the sashimi and another type as part of the sushi. The space is beautiful at Ato and it's the biggest Omakase restaurant I've ever been to. It has multiple rooms with sushi bars and a couple of private rooms as well. If I was ever bougie enough to have a party at an Omakase place, this would certainly be high up on my list.

Yelp
Special treat for New Year's Eve on Dec 31, 2024, it's also birthday celebration for a special one. We were seated on a long sushi table in front of a Japanese culinary chef showcasing his skills preparing sushi and sashimi for us. All sashimi were pre-sliced, stored in plastic boxes and the chef assembled them in front of us. The chef was meticulous with details including decorating each sushi plate, our server was equally attentive. Ambience was good, service was good, foods were fresh and good too! It's good to come on special occasion as it's quite pricey, it's a good overall experience to try authentic Japanese cuisine.

Yelp
Ato Japanese Restaurant is a hidden gem in Richmond Hill, offering authentic and refined sushi and sashimi omakase at an affordable price ($88 at the time of writing). The quality of the fish is superb, and the presentation is elegant and artistic. The chefs are meticulous preparing each piece of fish with precision and care. The service is attentive and courteous, ensuring a pleasant dining experience all around.

Yelp
Really good experience. I went with my coworker/ friend and we enjoyed the sushi and the service. Currently the promotion is $88 for the Umi meal which is a bang for your buck as we both ended up stuffed by the end. The sushi and sashimi were fresh and tasty and they made sure to ask if we had any allergies which I indicated I did have some. I really enjoyed the experience and definitely will be back.

Yelp
Value-for-money omakase Food: Each piece of sashimi and nigiri we had was very fresh, with no fishy taste. The size of the fish was a good portion, and you can taste the different textures and I definitely enjoyed the two pieces of otoro that came with the meal (one sashimi, one nigiri). The chef was definitely too heavy-handed on the wasabi on some of the nigiri, especially the hotate (scallop) nigiri. Each piece was presented beautifully, and the negitoro hand roll at the end tied everything together well. The dessert was also not too sweet, and green tea was complimentary throughout the meal. Service: For lunch service, they were very timely and were seated at our reservation time (no sooner), and ate for the hour of allotted time. It was a bit disappointing that the chef was preparing the nigiri at the other end of the sushi counter, so there was very limited interaction except for presenting each course/piece to us. Also, all of the fish was sliced before-hand to maintain the speed of service, reducing the "wow" factor. Green tea was refilled constantly. Atmosphere: The decor of the restaurant was very clean and modern, with wood tones throughout. There was a small "VIP room" waiting area we were seated at prior to the meal as we arrived early, where we were served tea. During the meal, there were 8 seats and we were seated at the end away from the other customers, providing some privacy.

Yelp
Came here for their affordable omakase dinner experience priced at $88 per person. This came with miso soup, assorted sashimi, ten pieces of sushi, a handroll, tamago, and dessert which I felt was a very good deal. Overall the sushi and sashimi was such high quality and tasted very fresh, we really enjoyed most rolls and had a very pleasant experience with service as well. Definitely recommend checking this spot out if you want to try omakase for a more affordable price and great tasting experience!

Yelp
This was my first time trying omakase! My boyfriend and I got the Ume set ($88 per person) which comes with the following: - Soup: Miso soup with some mushrooms and kelp. The mushrooms were cooked so well, not mushy at all. I will say it was a bit on the salty side, but that definitely showed how concentrated the miso was! 8/10 - Sashimi appetizer (5 kinds): This had a variety of Atlantic salmon, tuna (chutoro, otoro), hamachi (amberjack), and uni (sea urchin). I'm usually not a fan of uni, but this one was almost on the sweet side. I will say now I have been converted! This was a delicious course. 10/10 - 10 pcs sushi: In order, the pieces were: hirame (fluke), Atlantic salmon with truffle, hamachi (amberjack), akami (bluefin tuna), white shrimp, ikura (salmon roe), hotate (scallop), shimaaji (striped jack), otoro (tuna), uni (sea urchin). I may have gotten some of these wrong, but overall these were fabulous and super fresh as we got to see the sushi made right in front of us! However, I did find the wasabi taste very strong, my sinuses were definitely opened! I could've asked to tone down the wasabi but decided to tank it. This was served with pickled ginger on the side as a palate cleanser, as expected. Overall a solid 9/10! - Bluefin negi toro hand roll: No picture of this as we were instructed to eat it right away to avoid soggy seaweed. Not outstanding but still a yummy piece! I did find it hard to bite through the seaweed though so I think I would've preferred if this was a cut roll. 8/10 - Tamago: Light and fluffy sweet egg. A nice treat and dividing course between the sushi and the next! 9/10 - Chawanmushi: Steamed egg with a scallop, shrimp, mushroom, and some truffle. This was alright to me - the egg was very soft and smooth which was great, but the shrimp and scallop tasted overcooked. Ultimately this is almost unavoidable when steaming things, but maybe this dish isn't for me. 7/10 - Dessert: A wedge of Japanese honeydew melon. I'm not sure if this is the real deal (the expensive melon you see at supermarkets) but nonetheless it was super ripe and super sweet. 9/10 We also ordered the following drinks: - Matcha yuzu highball: Dangerous drink, can hardly taste the alcohol. Very light matcha flavour, just yuzu sweetness and soda fizz. I enjoyed it very much! Large portion too. 9/10 - Yuzu ume sake spritz: This had actual bits of yuzu rind so you can tell this is the real deal! Bubbly, sweet, tart, and absolutely delicious. 9/10 All in all, this place blew my mind. The service was impeccable, there was coat check and the waiters were very aware of what we needed or if we needed our plates replaced. The sushi chef was also very kind and told us what each sushi was before plating. My only critique would be the seats are very close to each other. But, for the price of $88, I could not have expected more! I think I will come back in the future for any other special menus they put out!!

Yelp
This is the BEST omakase experience I've ever had! Walking in, I didn't expect that we would have our own room and our own chef, which just added more to my amazement. An absolutely beautiful restaurant! I don't think I've had fresher tasting fish in my life, and our chef, Kevin, was really just the best. Not only did we receive very generous cuts of sashimi, but we also got to see very carefully prepared nigiri. He also noticed that I was taking pictures and wiped my nigiri plate so I wouldn't have sauce droplets in my photos. It was such a small gesture but I was so so happy! I tried new pieces of fish I never had before, and even the ones I've had, they tasted 100x better. My friends and I enjoyed everything and I would 100% go back, if only I didn't live in the US.

Yelp
Been here many times and food quality and service is excellent! We ordered the lunch special-they have another one but you need to order a day before. We can sit in front of the chef as he presents and makes our meals or you can sit in a private booth. I normally will reserve a table to ensure I get the type of seating I want. A great spot in RH but be warned that parking is a real pain in this strip mall at lunch but not bad at night.,

Yelp
My boyfriend and I went for the spring menu and it was $88! it was pretty good, the restaurant is really huge and it gave off casual vibes.. we had 2 other people sitting next to us and they were talking really loud. Their toro and melon is really good

Yelp
Came here for lunch, the sashimi and sushi set is only $58pp The fish tasted great, it was soft and fresh. The pieces were served at a good pace and service from all the staff was great. We promptly seated when we arrived, and our waitress was very on top of things, constantly refilling our tea as needed. The ambiance of the place was very cute and modern. It looks like they have several rooms and they're all omakase style counter seating, which is cool because everyone gets a chance to see the chef prepare the pieces while enjoying their meal. The decor, tea cup and plate is also very pretty. They should get rid of the tv screens in the room though, it doesn't go with the aesthetic of the place and looks very out of place. Overall a great place for omakase, I would definitely check it out again!

Yelp
ATO is an absolute gem for omakase enthusiasts in Richmond Hill. Really great experience overall. The quality of the fish is outstanding, fresh and flavourful! The chefs' meticulous attention to detail really shines through in every bite and in their presentation. Very memorable and enjoyable night out for a birthday celebration. :)

Yelp
ok no more omakases for me for a while bc my wallet hurtin but this most recent one I had was deliciouss, no ragrets I had the lower tier omakase selection but it still included pieces like toro, japanese uni, chawanmushi, and crown melon! We had a group of 7 and we were all still able to sit comfortably at the chef sushi bar as they have a lot, if not most of their seating at the sushi bar.

Yelp
A traditional Omakase styled experience with good food and good company; a recipe for a great time! Upon entering Ato, you are exposed to the minimalistic Japanese décor, an elegant mix of stone and wood. Then you see their cold room displaying the array of fishes and meats, in the middle of which is a large tuna. Now is where your experience begins as staff greet you warmly as they guide you to your seats. The chef at your table helps guide you with menu choices, food and drinks. What I like about this is that they didn't just recommend the most expensive sake, they catered to your preferences. Similar to the doctor diagnosing a patient, the chef dissected our preferences and recommended a really good sake, on the cheaper end as well! As with all tasting menus, I will not comment on each dish instead, the overall experience. From start to finish everything seemed delicately prepared. Nothing was over seasoned, nor were they under seasoned. The appetizers were thoughtfully prepared and beautifully arranged. The sashimi was assembled with 3 white fish and 3 parts of the tuna. The texture of the white fishes were amazing pair well with the freshly grounded wasabi and soy sauce. Tuna pieces were also amazing as you progress towards the fattiest piece. The highlight of the night was the sushi the chef prepares in front of you. Each piece seasoned beautifully with Japanese ingredients. The chef shares insights on the preparation of the dish and the source of all the ingredients. It was also rewarding to have compared the fish as a sashimi vs sushi form. Sashimi was not seasoned, but you could be liberally with wasabi and soy sauce (you don't need much or any at all). Whereas the sushi of the same fish took an entirely different form. I daresay the addition of the season made the tasting experience even more magical! To get the full experience, I'd recommend booking for 6+ and getting a separate room. This gives your group a more personal experience compared to where you are seated with other parties. Also this is a rather expensive meal, so really save it for a nice occasion.

Yelp
Top notch service & affordable + fresh lunch omakase spot! Cracking open a bottle of sake at 11AM def isn't the regular but when you're out at lunch for omakase you just have to! I would recommend giving a call for reservations & requesting the room on the right- it's imo the most beautiful side & I really liked our Japanese omakase chef! The right side had about 10 seats so I can see it filling up fast. 8PCS + a handroll & dessert made by the chef for $38 (during their Sakura Limited Time promotion) was just VALUE! The service felt very expensive; attentive to never let my sake or my tea cup go half empty & courteous to my requests & questions. They offer free green tea which is a nice touch-since I know a lot of other Japanese restaurants actually charge for their hot tea (per cup or per pot) Quality of the pieces in the omakase are not the highest BUT it is fresh and I really enjoyed all the different preparations & fish variations for the price. We also ordered from the kitchen Japanese A5 wagyu + black cod donburi and it was tasty! It filled us up more & by the end of everything we were pretty satiated. Def a splurge for lunch if you include the bottle of sake we ordered as well Overall with the gorgeous Japanese decor, vibe, valuable omakase pricing & the excellent service I would def recommend!

Yelp
My fiancée and I went to try ATO for their omakase. At $88, it was quite a good deal. We had our reservation for 8:00PM, at which time we were promptly seated. The restaurant is decorated as a modern, yet traditional style of sushi restaurant that you would find in Japan. It was brightly lit, unlike most higher price point restaurants around the GTA, which I prefer. As it was the winter, they offered to take out jackets for us which was a nice touch to help ensure your seat does not get bulky with a winter jacket hanging behind. Our servers were very attentive, always refilling our tea cups ensuring they stayed warm and filled at all times Their UME menu started off with a miso soup and a sashimi appetizer. Although I am not a big fan of miso soup in general, the one served at ATO had a nice miso flavour with a bit of smokiness. The sashimi appetizer had a variety of five fish: salmon, lean tuna, medium tuna, and two white fish which I have forgotten the names of. All were very fresh and a great start to a delicious meal. The next portion of the experience was ten nigiris. The selection on the day I attended included scallop, striped jack, sea bream, mackerel, lean tuna, fatty tuna, amberjack, salmon, ikura, and uni. All were exceptionally delicious and fresh, however if I were to choose my top three they would be the fatty tuna, scallop, and mackerel with the scallop being my favourite of the night. The sushi was followed by a chopped bluefin tuna hand roll and a piece of torched tamago, which were both excellent. The main portion of the meal was wrapped up with a deliciously smooth and savoury truffle steamed egg which had scallop and shrimp in it as well. I would have liked to add some additional selection that they offered, however as I was full, I had opted out. The meal was ended with a slice of fresh honey dew. Usually I am not a fan of honey dew, however the fruit provided tasted fresh, sweet, and unbelievably juicy. At this price point, this would be a place I would highly recommend and would look forward to going back. The service and quality of food provided was well worth the price.

Yelp
Had a chance to try out ATO Omakase Lunch Special for $38 per person which includes 8pc Nigiri + 1 Negi Toro Temaki. For the price I would say it wasn't bad but tbh if it was a normal meal for the regular price it wouldn't be my first choice for Omakase. My favourite out of all the pieces that actually wowed me would be the Akami with slight truffle on top. There's an option to add sashimi set for $20 extra which we didn't get. I did order a few more pieces of nigiri on the side since it didn't include hotate and I definitely needed my hotate fix. We finished off with dessert which was Yubari King Melon, not included in the special. Overall it was a decent meal but I don't think I would go back for their Omakase Lunch. I may eventually come back for dinner but I didn't find the experience all there... possibly for the price paid ? Definitely worth a try though . . . Omakase Lunch 3.5/5 $38 Yubari Melon 4/5 $19

Yelp
It is the first I dine at ATO in person after they have opened up. We were there for their sashimi and sushi omakase. Everything is great from service, price and the quality of food. $58 for an omakase with sashimi is very very reasonable for the quality of the sashimi. It is super fresh no fishy taste whatsoever. The otoro sushi with black truffle is just so gooood. The pictures speak for itself. Will definitely come back.

Yelp
Can't believe this is our first omakase sushi experience! We jumped on it when we saw the lunch special - $38 for 8pcs plus negitoro hand roll. It's basically an extended sushi meal prepared in front of you, and served one piece at a time at the sushi counter. We loved the modern decor and ambiance here which added to the overall experience. Omakase is more about the experience so I would definitely recommend reserving a seat at the sushi counter! The fish quality was great with mostly premium fish, but I have to admit I wasn't full from the meal. They have the option of adding 5pcs of sashimi for $20, or ordering other items from their bar/kitchen. Due to popular demand, they have now extended this limited-time menu into their regular lunch supreme menu! The only downside is we felt a bit rushed since we were only given 45mins of seating time. They were super busy with this promotion going on.

Yelp
Picked this place to be my first omakase experience ever and it certainly did not let me down!! I came here with my friends to take advantage of their $38 Sakura lunch special which comes with 8 pieces of sushi and a handroll. I also added $20 for their 5 pieces of sashimi which I think I could have done without. Yes, it was delicious and fresh but it was pretty standard and it was the omakase that blew me away. The environment was clean and really pretty. Our chef was so wholesome and you could tell he really cared about our experience and that we were enjoying the food. Coincidentally, our other friends who came separately on the same day (an hour after us) had the same omakase special too and got totally different sushi items! So it's cool to know that you can get a totally different experience from someone else. Every sushi item was unique and the flavours were very elevated. The server was also on point and attentive with coming by to clear plates or pour us more tea. The experience as a whole lasted about 45 minutes.. everything was prompt and the food was presented at a good pace in my opinion. After the meal, I wasn't stuffed, which is what you'd expect with omakase... it was enough to tie me over until dinner but anyways, with the quality of what you get, you leave with a different kind of satisfaction. This was definitely a one-of-a-kind experience (but who am I to judge since it was the only omakase experience I've had lol) and I'll definitely be back for more!

Yelp
First time enjoying Sushi Omakase since the pandemic started. I always booked for sushi bar instead of a regular table, as serving sushi a piece at a time is a totally different tasting experience. The craftmanship of this sushi bar chef at ATO Japanese Restaurant makes me feel like dinning in Ginza, Tokyo. I believed the sushi bar chef is using Edomae (traditional Tokyo style) and Kombujime (classic fish ageing technique) technique to prepare their sushi for the customers. Watching the chef preparing the sushi for the customers is like enjoying an one hour show. Every sushi I had is very flavorful, especially the scallop. The chef uses traditional red vinegar to prepare their sushi rice and the red vinegar did not over power the original taste of the rice itself. The Fatty Bluefin Tuna Hand Roll nori sheet is super crispy as well. Don't miss out their Hokkaido Sea Urchin sushi, which like tasting the Sea of Japan inside your mouth. Overall, this is one of the best sushi restaurants I tried in Toronto up to this day.

Yelp
Woohoo another one in york region!!! First time trying this restaurant. The decor and layout is fantastic we were seated in the vip room with a large tv. The staff was polite and very accommodating. Food: before trying I've heard from friends and seen the reviews everyone was raving about this place. But from my experience it was a little lacking. The presentation was pretty wonderful but the variety was and seemed a little disappointing. The whole food experience was interesting but I was expecting more than just a whole fish in sashimi form, I was hoping they would do a bit more and made other dishes from the whole fish. The sushi was delicious, the wagyu uni was ok I guess I've had better. I feel the dessert was a bit lacking just melon and the jello? Nothing very skilled or creative about it. Service: exceptional! Thank you for the great staff very attentive and considerate and very accommodating. Overall I recommend checking it out! And have fun with the experience!

Yelp
We ordered food from Seamax wholesale website , and ATO is under the same company. The food was ordered through the website and then picked up at ATO. There were some confusion with the pick up in the beginning but at the end we got our food, I would have given 5 star, but it was a little frustrating situation so I give a 4 star. We ordered the Hokkaido Don and Deluxe Toro Set. The quality was amazing. Hokkaido Don $38 had avocado, tamagotchi, cucumbers, imitation, salmon, scallop, botan ebi and uni. Quantity size was perfect! The Deluxe Toro $45 had 2 pcs if Chutoro sashimi, otitis sashimi, chutoro sushi, Akami and brig toro maki which has 6 pcs. Super fatty, thick.. delicious. I

Yelp
Came here for their lunch special sushi Omakase. We ordered their upgraded version with the sashimi and honestly, that was the best decision yet. The fish was insanely fresh. Every portion we had to the meal was served with it made in front of you. It was just fun to watch. There are two versions of this omasake. The first portion sashimi is made in front of you and then served on a plate. So all the pieces of fish have already been made and placed on the dish before you get to eat it. It is similar to a regular restaurant. Then the sushi portion was omakase where each piece is made and served to you on a small stone plate. Once on the plate, you are to consume it. It was very entertaining to try for the first time and especially at this price point. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and recommend it at ATO. We will most likely return for another special event!

Yelp
Came here today to try out their $38 lunch omakase (special until end of July)! The price was super attractive and saw so many posts about it so decided to try it out. It was quite full today so I recommend you make a reservation, especially if you want to sit at the bar table. We were seated at the regular table. When you sit at the regular table, all the sushi is served together vs. One by one at the bar table. All the seatings are 1 hr so it is quite quick. One of us opted for the sashimi option, the rest of us got the regular omakase. For the sashimi option, it is additional $20 for 5 pieces of sashimi. I would've expected better/different sashimi for $20 - there was 1 scallop, 1 salmon, 1 toro, 1 fish skin, and 1 not sure. Salmon - very basic, fish skin piece - super chewy. The server didn't tell us what the sashimi was for this. The sushi came after, the server went over very quickly what the fish was. She suggested we eat the hand roll first as the seaweed would be soggy after... but it was soggy when we ate it first and you can see the seaweed was already soggy in the photo. I think it's because everyone is served together in the seating so by the time we got ours, it was soggy. The sushi was good quality for the price, again there was salmon. I saw some people post they had uni, ikura, extra piece, no salmon etc. but not today, understandable since it was omakase, but it feels the value is not the same. We only have 1 scallop and rest was all fish, not much variety in type. Variety and value should be similar. We also requested extra wasabi, the server walked around a few times and apparently had forgotten until we asked again. I'd say the omakase sushi is just the right about if you want to be just full, but I'd have room for the sashimi as well. $38 is a fair price, but would be even better if it included the sashimi. With tax and tips it is around $50/person. Overall, probably a one time thing for me.

Yelp
Amazing service, fresh fish, omakase is a must. And their chirachi box is on point! Highly recommended

Yelp
Overpriced for what it is. The sushi was 7.5/10 Too much rice. Perhaps some will say big portion of sushi serving soup was not great, just seafood food sweetness and no other flavours. It needs a dash of salt / acid. They tried hard to Aburi Hana but lacked execution refinement with it's plating, presentation. I would rather go back and pay $80 for 12 sushi set but don't force me your set dinner. Not well presented and all the side dishes that were mediocre and terrible dessert that doesn't pair well from texture to flavors. I rather have melon than your gross matcha lacks taste ugly dollop of cream and are hard jelly that was super sweet and tart. Your roasted barley tea was great at the end until your staff refilled my cup with regular green tea It was a disaster. The waitress was nice! The environment clean and nice, was fine. My friend enjoy their selection of beer

Yelp
The fine dining Japanese restaurant opened Nov 2020 as take-out only. It looks like they were open for indoor dining in Dec 2020 but indoor dining was restricted before Christmas. However, they have renovated the interior by the last week of Jan 2021, they were ready for indoor dining again whenever pandemic restrictions allow it. We saw a picture of the Chirashi with Uni for $110.00. It was beautiful so we had to have it too! We live downtown but drove all the way to Hwy 404 and 16th (Richmond Hill) to pick it up. They needed at least an hour to prepare it so we scheduled a pickup time. The reception are has 3 cute Japanese style plexiglass dividers. The female staff is very courteous. Inside, there are 3 main dining areas. There is a very long seating area (bar-like) that has an entire wall of a tuna wallpaper (see my photos) and a large TV screen at one end. There is a smaller sushi bar area. Then there is a small party room with a large TV screen. The owner is also the owner of Seamax Wholesale so they get the freshest and best cut. If you want to order onlune, you would go to seamaxwholesale.com to order. This wholesaler delivers to many other Japanese  restaurants throughout GTA. Because of this, they can deliver for free in the area. However to deliver to downtown Toronto, you have to order $120+. The presentation was amazing and colourful! They even included a small rose in there. And the food ... extremely fresh and tasty! Great quality. It came in a black cardboard box, 7.0 inches x 9.5 inches. There was Hokkaido uni on shiso leaf, oboro, salmon roe, caviar, tamago, scallop, Botan ebi (shrinp), otoro, salmon, tuna, and yellow tail. They were on a bed of sushi rice, avocado, cucumber, and seaweed pieces. It was decorated with small edible rose petals, a rose (with edible petals), other flowers, gold leaf pieces, and twigs. They also give you a little pink bag with chopsticks, napkins, a plastic bottle of soya sauce and a little plastic container of wasabi. We can wait to go there when indoor dining is allowed again since the price would be cheaper for the quality we get. They are wheelchair accessible.  However, when we went there, the buttons to automatically open the door wasn't working. There are washrooms but I didn't check if they were wheelchair accessible. There are lots of parking spots because it is in a mall. 2021-23

Yelp
Finally I got to try ATO! Came here with my friend on a weekday and we sat at the sushi bar to get the full experience. We got the sashimi and sushi omakase and it was so worth it! The fish was obviously so fresh. I don't remember the type of fish but there was some that was infused with yuzu and another type of citrus and it was amazing. Well balanced together with the fish. The handroll was so good too, I never had tamagoyaki with unagi together before and it was delicious!

Yelp
Having their omakase like having a fast food meal! In general, food is good, but services need to be improved, next time shall not give tips, oh, shall be no next time!

Yelp
Take a look at this beautifully presented chirashi take out box! But what's more important is that fresh ingredients were used, and tasted great. It's a little more expensive, especially with uni, but worth treating yourself from time to time. I'd definitely recommend ordering take out, the packing was very secure and tidy. And I'll make my way back to dine in next time.

Yelp
Experience was not bad. The food and service are good. The only problem is they always use uni on our menu for 6 omakase set. One of the best was that we had the whole fish (madai) sashimi with a tray of uni. You can ask them to use the head to make a soup after for extra cost. What disappointed me with this soup is they don't descale the fish head, so the fish skin has a lot of scales and it's hard to eat. Also the fish may need a little pepper for taste

Yelp
This place is so good! One of my new favourite places for omakase. They offer 3 different omakase menus but we chose the second one because we didn't care for the wagyu. Their second menu is $168 and offers sushi, appetizers and sashimi. The fish is so fresh here and it's definitely premium quality.

Yelp
Nice environment and settings. Good service. And most importantly the sushi and sashimi are so tasty

Yelp
Pandemic Review: We've never eaten here and we live in Keswick now (not sure where that is google it and see the distance for context). This review is purely for how the Chirashi Bento box, which we've gotten with and without Uni. The sushi holds up really well and the quality is there. Yes, you're paying for a premium so my one real critique here is that I wish the bento box was actual wood or bamboo. It appears to be cardboard or something that's wrapped in this decal that makes it look better than its actual quality. Nothing you should worry about in regards to it impacting the food or anything. You just can't wash it afterwards to keep. Portion size is adequate for what you pay for. Quality of the fish and taste is right where it needs to be (although I'm not a huge fan of the edible flowers). Okay, so my second critique is their soy sauce. It's salty. It also clings to the fish so it has almost like a glaze-like quality to the consistency, both of these qualities altered my enjoyment of the fish. I think I dipped my chopstick into the soy and dabbed a minuscule amount on each piece of fish just to let a bit of the salt accentuate the fish but never dip the fish in (you just lose the delicate taste of the fish). We'd like to visit one day and try the actual dine-in experience. I only hope that the soy sauce is different, if not I'll let the chef brush however much he thinks is necessary because like I said, I won't be dipping my sashimi in.

Yelp
Recently had the chance to dine at Ato again. I went once when they first opened and it was frankly underwhelming. However, my visit this time with Chef Linh was a stark improvement. The Shari's more nuanced flavour and firmer texture acted as a good vehicle to his neta. In particular, the saba and kohada had a nice juiciness to them. Remember to get Chef Linh's take on kappa-maki. It is a refreshing, respectful riff on a fairly traditional, simple roll. I think this is a restaurant and chef trying to find their way and style. But seeing the development from the 1st time to more recently makes me believe that Chef Linh shows definite potential to succeed in this burgeoning omakase scene in the GTA.

Yelp
Ordered the bluefin tuna omakase set which was a seasonal menu. You can order the regular omakase sets which would have more fish variety. The food and service were good but I felt the course was a bit overpriced. Unless you absolutely love tuna I felt it was a bit like tuna overload. They give you the different parts otoro, chu-toro and akami but I mean - you can only do tuna so many ways. I also found it a bit distracting that the seatings were actually not at the same time so people sitting close by were at different points in their meal. The restaurant itself is very nice with multiple rooms at the bar and private dining table rooms as well. Overall good quality and it's nice to have an omakase restaurant uptown, but in hindsight I probably should have tried the regular omakase instead. I don't feel like I had enough variety to truly write a fair review of this place.

Yelp
Back at it again with the omakase lol. Last time I was here I felt that I didn't get the proper experience as we had the "patio set" but knew I would be back to try out the dine-in experience. I must say it was definitely better than the patio menu. I went for a birthday celebrating @munchkinchronicles which was lovely since they had these large private rooms that essentially felt like you had the whole restaurant to yourself! We had the Ajisai set which comes with: 5 kinds of appetizers Osumashi 12 pieces of sushi Dessert I felt that most of the appetizers were just okay, there was a braised abalone that I found to be tender with nice flavors. The osumashi is essentially a clear soup, which had a fish and clam in it. The clam was plump and had natural flavor of its own however I found the fish to be tasteless and dry. The 12 pieces of sushi were the highlight and all fresh and delicious. We requested some extras such as the torched wagyu with uni topped with caviar, which was soooo good! However, overall I feel there's quite a few other options that offer better value so it's an decent and average omakase experience for uptown.

Yelp
First time trying omakase. Went for dinner and ordered the set menu for 2. Everything was delicious and the fish was super fresh. Even their cooked foods such as the wagyu, steamed egg, and soup also tasted really good. I especially loved the wagyu as it was super juicy and just melted in my mouth. Overall, a very good and unique experience with fresh fish and amazing food

Yelp
Talk about VIP feels! ATO has designed its layout to give you the feel of being a VIP while accommodating different chefs and more guests than other omakase experiences. You get escorted into a private room that seats perhaps 6 to 8 guests and their attentiveness is incredible. The number of options on the tasting menu is enough to have you well fed and feeling very happy.
