SUPER fun novelty store! Incredible candy selection including a jelly bean bar that has every famous flavor you could imaging. If you’re a soda nerd, their selections are elite.

Super cute shop with lots of items to choose from!!! They have stuff from multiple different fandoms, even lunch boxes and mugs!! I love coming here just to see the options and enjoy the possibilities, plus they have loads of fun and iconic drink choices!

Everyone needs to stop by Atomic candy. You’ll be surprised at the variety of candy and novelty gifts they carry. I always bring my guests here from out of town and they all end up stocking up on candy (vintage and new items). I was surprised to see how much pickle 🥒 flavored candy there was. Lots of cool Sasquatch, Alien 👽 and tv show gifts. Great place to find gag gifts too. My number one place for birthday and Christmas presents 🎁!

Atomic Candy in Denton: A Candy Wonderland Where Fairies Come to Life Atomic Candy is more than just a store—it’s a vibrant, whimsical haven filled with nostalgia, laughter, and more candy than you could ever imagine. The second you step through the doors, you’re greeted by walls lined with colorful treats, quirky oddities, and an energy that feels like a sugar rush brought to life. It’s the perfect place to embrace your inner child… or, if you’re like my brother Mitch, completely lose your dignity. Now, let’s talk about Mitch. He wasn’t just any shopper that day—he was a walking spectacle, the unfortunate loser of a bet. A bearded man dressed in a pink tutu, feather boa, ballet slippers, white tights, and frilly, ruffled bloomers that peeked out with every twirl, he looked like a fairy ballerina. Add a flower delicately perched in his hair, and the scene was set for something truly unforgettable. The staff at Atomic Candy were quick to jump in on the fun. Anytime someone said “tutu,” Mitch had to spin in place and proudly declare, “I feel pretty, oh so pretty, I’m a silly fairy!” It would have been embarrassing enough to do this once or twice, but they made sure it happened again and again, with Mitch twirling like a man obviously enjoying life a little too much being a very silly nutcracker fairy. As if that wasn’t enough, they handed him a stick horse and sent him galloping up and down the aisles. His ruffled bloomers bounced with every step as he pranced through the store, reins in hand, looking equal parts ridiculous and weirdly committed to the role. The staff was loving every second, encouraging Mitch to keep going while laughing so hard they had tears in their eyes. But the fun didn’t end there. They escorted Mitch outside and had him strike dramatic ballet poses right in front of the store, all while passersby paused to watch the spectacle unfold. Whether he was balancing on one foot, Mitch embraced every moment of public humiliation with an enthusiasm that was, frankly, suspiciously over-the-top. It was like he was actually loving and enjoying being Mitch the Fairy Ballerina. To top it off, the staff said that his antics would end up online 🤞 He still deliveries to make in his full ballerina gear, we’re all hoping Atomic Candy invites him back! Atomic Candy isn’t just a store; it’s an experience. Between the nostalgic candies, quirky decor, and a staff that’s all-in on the fun, you’re guaranteed to leave with a smile (and possibly a few stories you’ll never live down). Whether you’re shopping for sweets or just hoping to catch a fairy ballerina galloping through the aisles, this place is a must-visit. 10/10 would recommend! 🍭🩰✨

I wasn’t happy with the service i received on July 29 at 6:59 PM. I didn’t realize it was a minute before closing. I understand being asked to leave because a store is closing, however today I was basically “shooed” away by an employee with short wavy hair wearing a blue sweatshirt. Once again i completely understand being asked to leave, but it’s not how a customer should be asked to leave. It completely ruined the way i thought about the employees at Atomic Candy.

I was like a kid in a candy store!! All the sweets in the world & funny little toys & gifts. The whole place is not just candy, but EYE candy! Could not quit looking around at all the goodies! A really great stop when your in Denton for grown & young ones!

Yelp
As candy shops go, this one is very entertaining. The music playing in the background appropriate for the incredible talents streaming from UT's jazz program. The candy is fresh and there is a huge variety. The service is excellent! Prompt and engaging.

Yelp
Interesting candies and fun to browse! Used the store to fill up an advent cleaned at with unique items.

Yelp
This place is so unique and such a Denton gem! I love taking friends and family from out of town here. There is candy for everyone- jellybeans, pez, chocolate, etc. They also have incredible soda and root bear. This is a must if you are visiting Denton.

Yelp
Who doesn't love a candy shop and all that it entails. What sets Atomic Candy apart from others is they have some cool novelty items I have never seen before. These items include a large Smartie Lolipop and the round gummie candies called Roulettes. So you know I had to grab a few for my kiddos. They also have this drink case with some rare and unique drinks I've never seen or had. Pop in if you are having a sweet tooth or need a cute little gift for someone. Yelp
Every time I come here, it's literally a kid in a candy store experience, so what could I possibly have to complain about? If anything, there are so many options that it is overwhelming! There's a good mix of candy from your childhood you haven't seen in a while and stuff that's just plain weird! You want to try bacon candy? They got that. You want to try pickle candy? Check. What about a pickle soda? Got that too. Do you want your candy to come with insults? That's here. What about a gummy bear so big that taking a picture of it will crash your phone? Yes! Yes, that happened to me yesterday and it didn't even save the pic of the gummy bear! This place is always worth a stop, it's super fun and you won't leave here without a smile on your face. I just loved seeing the selection of Pocky sticks here and they have a ton of chocolates to choose from. I always enjoy popping over to their refrigerators that have soda flavors that go from normal to weird to weirder. There's a lot of fun options, some may seem gross, and some of the stuff in the back corner, like the novelty gifts, may not be super appropriate, depending on the age of your kids and how many questions they ask. There are so many options in the rest of the store though, that it should be easy to avoid, and that should also tell you that this place appeals to those of ALL ages. There's always a crowd, so you can really only ask questions by waiting in line at the register. Prices are reasonable and you can get a huge amount of varied candy, or a small amount of your favorites. There are nostalgic lunch boxes, sodas, coffee mugs, chewy candy, hard candy, candy with bugs in it, a joke corner, taffy, fudge, and I'm short, so I'm not even sure what's above my eye level. I promise there is something for everyone here, and how many places can you really say that about? You have to stop in here at least once!

Yelp
Lots of choices I loved the decor We tried chocolate gummy bears (both white and milk chocolate). We had enough room to take in mostly every thing. Be aware it is a small shop. There was plenty of assistance though. I asked a question about a product and got a good answer directing me to what i was looking for. Cashier had no line and we were out quickly. There is a huge assortment of specialty root beers and colas. Nice candy store.
google avatar

Yelp
Great fun spot. Wide assortment of unusual bottled sodas, all kinds of crazy candy and geeky novelties and gifts. A nerd paradise. All of the popular current candy alongside rarities and nostalgic throwbacks. Don't walk past it.
google avatar

Yelp
Quaint little candy store with all sorts of candies - old fashioned, quirky, classic, etc. You will definitely find something you like here. They also have a few little toys, as well. You'll pay more than you'd pay for a standard candy bar at the grocery store, but they've got cool stuff, and a good variety of it.
google avatar

Yelp
A bit overwhelming but this candy shop is pretty awesome. Has just about anything you could want. Salt water taffy is soft and fresher than most places we've had it. If your visiting the square and have a sweet tooth check this place out. Only place I've seen bacon flavored toothpaste. I'm guessing it isn't approved by the American dental association.

Yelp
So I was hosting a food and bar crawl through Denton square and I wanted Atomic Candy to be a part of this. That's how I got to meet Tim, the owner. First off, a really great guy and when it came to my group (as small as it was) coming in, his staff was very friendly and the goodie bags they prepared for us were nothing short of teriffic! Saltwater taffy, pixie sticks, sour candies, Black Cows, Chick-o-stiks, honey candy. Basically a great mix of past and present. I go in frequently to assauage my five year old and I always find more retro candy to try. My buddy, and fellow Yelper found the candy cigarettes and grabbed I think seven or eight packs of them. My other friend Jacque B., also a Yelper found some coconut mango patties for his other half. I even saw bacon and corn soda that I hadn't noticed.... I like both items (bacon and corn) but being that I don't drink soda... it's moot. We had a great experience and heck I'm still gonna be showing up there every so often. Always a great time. And as they wrote on our goodie bags. " Atomic Candy, scaring dentists since 2011" Thanks Tim.

Yelp
What a perfect addition to the Square and bringing back nostalgic candy! This was such a great idea to open a store where it would remind people of their past growing up on the classic candy. They have an assortment of: jellybeans, boxed candy, vintage items and fun knick-knacks. Sometimes the prices seem a bit much, but it's worth it!! I also love the fridge with TONS of RootBeer options! A nice extra!!

Yelp
So, I found myself in Denton on Saturday morning with a friend. Honestly it was totally her idea and I wasn't expecting much so I was like, "ok, but we're going downtown after this right?" But we ended up staying there all day. Good breakfast, cute stores, and a really cool coffee shop. Mmmmmm, waffles... But this review is about Atomic Candy - a totally fun place to browse and (I think), better merch than the Rocket Fizz chain. I mean I don't ever wake up thinking "oh I need pina colada jelly beans, chocolate Necco wafers and some bandaids shaped like bacon..." but I did find a handful of things I wanted. They had some old school candy that tempted me and of course anything with coconut is key. I would have bought a Hello Kitty lunch box but I didn't think it would fly at work. I left with a bottle of *the best* vanilla root beer I've ever had and an Edgar Allen Poe coffee cup (pictured below).

Yelp
Recently, an independent publication named Blooms in Carrollton, Texas' best candy store. Well ... Atomic is every bit as good! With a great selection of old time classics, and new novelty items. This is THE place to go in Denton to satisfy your sweet urge. They have candies, as well as just about anything sweet you can think of. What a great shop!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Such a fun little shop! I needed Mars Bars for a space galaxy party I was throwing with space themed snacks and I couldn't find them anywhere. You have to import them ordering online. I needed them within a day and they had them! They have all kinds of fun nic-nacs! We don't eat sugar much in our home, but if I ever need any I know where to go. They have other fun stuff to see either way. The girl with fun green hair working inside was super friendly and helpful! If you're e Er in Denton, make a stop and check it out!

Yelp
Awesome candy shop loaded tons of candy. Plenty of nostalgic selections as well as current choices. Pickled flavored candy, large gummy unicorns, and lil nitro super hot candy, they have it all. It's a great place to visit even if you are looking to just browse. Something for everyone in here. Do yourself a favor and stop in.

Yelp
On a recent day trip to Denton, this was our first stop after parking slightly off the square. All I can say is WOW! We came by way of Roanoke, which has its own candy (/ ice cream / fudge) store. The selection there was impressive, but the selection here was astounding. The prices were also less expensive on every item we were able to compare (We bought many candies in Roanoke, so knew the prices). The variety of candy and soda here will have you browsing for quite some time. If we hadn't loaded up so recently, and thank goodness we just ate lunch, I'm sure we would have filled a bag with nostalgic treats. The store has a great feel to it too. Long and narrow, with wood floors, it just feels like a candy store. Definitely a great experience in the square.

Yelp
A trip to Denton calls for a stop at Atomic! Walking in you feel taken back to an old time candy store. There is candy everywhere! Of course, I come in for their large selection of jelly beans! You can mix & match jelly beans along with the other candies and pay per lb. My brother and I always load up for road trips home! They also offer fun novelty gifts- magnets, pens, chewing gums, etc. Great place to come if you are looking for a unique gift. Of course, all the options can be overwhelming, so take your time browsing the selections. It can get crowded in there depending on how busy they are, hubby had to step out this weekend because it was hot & getting a little tight inside. Totally worth stopping by, grabbing a soda & a sack of candy!
google avatar

Yelp
Fun little candy store on Denton's Downtown Square! Lots of fun candy and sodas to try! But very crowded! I waited outside as my family continued to shop, because I was getting a little claustrophobic!

Yelp
Heading into a candy store I expected there to be a lot of candy, but ended up being overwhelmed by the sheer amount of different options! I took my kids as a special treat as we don't really each much candy. I think they were taken back and didn't know where to start. We probably spent 10 minutes looking at everything before I let them start filling bags. Taffy and ribbons of sugary goodness seemed to be their favorite. There were tons of different sour balls and licorice. Gummy and sugar coated sweets were everywhere and my kids were in sugar heaven. The prices were better than I expected. All 3 kiddos got a decent amount in a bag for $5. They can't wait to go back so this will be a special treat again in the future. The store itself is really fun and has a lot of things other than candy. The workers were kinda friendly, but not all that friendly to my kids who kept trying to talk to them. We will be back sometime after this sugar high goes away!
google avatar

Shannon M.

Yelp
All the retro and novelty candies you could want, not to mention a plethora of bottled pop (I found Faygo from my hometown of Detroit!) Not as quirky as Big Top in Austin, but a great option for the wandering masses shopping on the square, or just students in need of a snack. If you need a sweet treat, Atomic is the bomb!
google avatar

Jason S.

Yelp
Visited this shop today on Halloween looking for some candy cigarettes to complete a costume. They had them and so much more. Staff was super friendly and awesome and were handing out bags of candy free for Halloween. I will definitely be back.
google avatar

Yelp
Such a fun place!! Lots of great candy I remember from my childhood & favorites from today. Found some great items for stocking stuffers. We'll be back!!
google avatar

John G.

Yelp
Awesomer candy selection especially old school candy but the sodas are way extra priced, idk what the deal is there. Soda I'm finding at midway mart or any of the grocery stores is $1 extra here and previously that's what I came here for. Would love a place I could get an affordable price on cases
google avatar

Miles M.

Yelp
How have i missed this place?!?!?! Well it is a small little shop, but it's packed with tons of different candies you can't find elsewhere. I walked around the shop twice and i was still finding tons of little things i wanted to buy. The selection here is great and i can't forget to mention the selection of sodas they had! If your not looking for the funny candy you found as a kid they have a selection of bulk candy that you can choose your own amount. Also if your looking for something a litle more modern they have a selection of candy with funny sayings on them like "We can have sex, but we can't be facebook friends?" Stuff of that sort Very cool place with staff that seem pleased to help. This is one place you need to make sure you stop off at if you are ever on the square. P.S. They also have Teaberry gum, which is my fave :D
google avatar

Yiovani R.

Yelp
It's ok. My favorite sweet is Chocolate and there wasn't much of a selection of that. But if you like old school candy, you'll definitely find it here (just not hard cigarettes candy sticks- I feel like they're a best seller and sell out half the time) Favorite part wasn't even the candy. It was all the cool merch on the right when you walk in. Probably some ideal stocking stuffers or small gift ideas right there.

Yelp
SWEEEEEET!!!!! (Literally) This place instantly took me back to the age of 7. That age when the only worries that I had were missing my favorite cartoon and having to eat the vegetables off of my plate. No worries about bills, career advancements or anything like that. It was a innocent time in my life that I instantly remembered when I walked through the doors of Atomic Candy. Sigh....... Candy that I totally forgot about was everywhere....Pop Rocks, Now & Laters, Dip Sticks, Big League Chew, Pixie sticks......wow! I'm not a candy fanatic, but I found myself picking this up, and picking that up...I wanted everything! Ring Pops and Lemon Heads! They have it all.......except.....my favorite candy bar. I looked and I looked for a Reggie Bar. The candy bar that I loved as a kid...the one with the pic of the great #44 swinging for the fences on the wrapper! But, unfortunately it had been discontinued. :( Oh well...everything else more than made up for the missing Reggie Jax bar. I guarantee that you will have a blast at Atomic Candy...candy lover or not, it will bring back fond memories.

Yelp
Atomic Candy is great. They have a huge variety of classic candies and modern delights. The atmosphere is awesome and probably one of its best features. If you're into the Fallout video game series, you'll see the decor mirrors some of Fallout 3's motif. They have squirrel nut zippers, lots of jelly bean flavors, and other specialty treats. It fits in perfectly on the Denton Square. Do yourself a favor and check it out!
google avatar

Dena F.

Yelp
Great selection. Lots of odd and fun gifts. If you are looking for that thing for that quirky friend, like a tampon flask. You've found the right place. Nice selection of rootbeer and great selection of vintage candies and chocolates. Service is okay, the guy behind the counter was really really happy. Working with all that sugar would explain that.
google avatar

Albert N.

Yelp
Talk about being a kid loose in a candy store...this is the place! For those of us of a certain age, it was like taking a time machine to my youth. There were candy, gum and novelty items that I had not seen since I was a kid and I did not think existed anymore. I was ready to buy almost everything I saw. Thank goodness I was with a friend who stopped me.
google avatar

Natalie R.

Yelp
Even without a sweet tooth, I can still always find something cool and unique at Atomic Candy. This place is packed from floor to ceiling (literally) with every imaginable brand, shape, flavor, and size of candy and has a wide assortment of other oddities and knick-knacks. Atomic is the perfect place to find those random white elephant gifts or something fun to send in your next care package. Bacon air freshener? Check. Need a foot tall jumbo gummy bear? You're in luck- which flavor would you like? They have it all! I especially love taking my mom here to hear her squeal as she rediscovers all the great candy from her childhood. Most of the goodies are sold by the piece or bulk candy by the pound, so it can add up quickly. The gift section varies in price, but typically is a little on the high end, as to be expected with most specialty stores. But hey, even if you're broke, you can still treat yourself to a wonderful root beer, cream soda, or other rare bottled soft drink for about $2 to enjoy on a stroll around our beautiful Denton square.

Yelp
I am 100% always a fan of nostalgia candy shops so I am definitely not an impartial vote but when it comes to candy shops this one is pretty top notch I couldn't believe I hadn't gone here before- great selection of candy and treats from every variety. Also has a nice selection of soda and fun products. Go and fill up on delicious sugary treats!
google avatar

Andrea W.

Yelp
Atomic is slightly expensive and not particularly special, but they DO have all their bases covered (didn't realize Sour Patch Peaches existed, delicious). Next time I go to Atomic Candy it will be to stock up for an intense, clandestine candy experience at the movie theater. Also, BUTTERSCOTCH ROOT BEER? Heck yea! I'll sneak that in to the movie theater too.
google avatar

Rebecca L.

Yelp
I love this candy shop it's my all time favorite!!!!! It's so unique!!! I LOVE mike and Ike's and I was so surprised to find that they multiple different mike and Ike's! The atmosphere is so welcoming and fun.
google avatar

Dustin H.

Yelp
Not a bad little place at all. I like stopping in here whenever we pass through town. I don't always get something but the selection is awesome. You have to build your own 6-pack of rootbeer. It's definitely worth it. They could use to move into a bigger place though. It can be a little cramped.
google avatar

Frank O.

Yelp
Even adults will feel like a kid in a candy shop. While obviously targeting the younger crowd, there are also lots of punny items, good for a chuckle here or there. I spent over an hour walking around, reading packages, and just marveling at all the different options in the store. And I left $30 later with Christmas presents for a number of people, and of course some sweets for myself. My gf likes Mexican Candy, and there were 4 different types of Pelon Pelo candies, and my gf was ecstatic to try new ones she had not had before.
google avatar

Lindsay P.

Yelp
I'm not even going to try with this review. Atomic is great and wonderful and interesting and fun and amazing and every other adjective to generally describe something as wondrous as this. All the candy you remember, think you remember, or saw on Unwrapped is here. Highlights (for me): gummy cherries, sour gummy cherries, and chocolate covered smores.
google avatar

Brian D.

Yelp
I swear I spent an hour laughing to myself while throwing a hundred dollars worth of candy into my basket. What grown man does that? Apparently I do. I used the candy as stocking stuffers for friends but I saved the Bubble Yum for myself. I live in Fort Worth but gladly made the drive up there. And the owner/cashier was friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this place!

Yelp
Every downtown needs a candy shop. This is what I've decided after visiting Atomic Candy in Denton. We were in town for a wedding and killing some time by walking around downtown. It's a nice little area that has a lot of potential. There are some great little stores and Atomic Candy is right there being fantastic and just making the whole area feel fun and inviting. First off, this is the type of store you want in your downtown. Local, fun, knows what it is and what they do and do it really well. The candy selection in the store is excellent. You have the standards (all things gummy and jelly bean related, suckers, candy bars, etc) and lots of off the beaten track type things like taffy products from like Turkey or something like that and lots of novelty candies. This is a great place to go if you are throwing a party and want some fun snacks or need to give a gift to someone. Besides candy, they had fun little novelty things that would make good gifts, stocking stuffers, etc. And if you like candy, well, you don't need much more of a reason to visit other than the fact that they have lots of candy. The candy we got was tasty and well priced and we had a good time trying to decide what to get. If I lived nearby, I'd really enjoy trying everything they have to offer!
google avatar

Charlotte G.

Yelp
If you are craving candy, this is the place! There are bins and bins of bulk candy. Huge selections of lunch boxes, bacon gag gifts, Pez dispensers, new candy, candy with an attitude, nostalgic candy, fun masks and gourmet chocolates ..... It's a must visit kind of place
google avatar

Kendra L.

Yelp
Atomic Candy couldn't be more awesome. I am extremely impressed by their enormous selection of root beer, I don't think it gets any better. My husband has been trying them all (Judge Wapner root beer? Well of *course* you have to try it! And butterscotch root beer!). They also have quite the broad spectrum of candy delectables and many other treats and toys. It is certainly a must-do for any trip to Denton.
google avatar

Rachael B.

Yelp
Tons of cool candy and sodas. Friendly staff. Very fun!
google avatar

Imran H.

Yelp
This place is badass!!! I'm so glad places like this still exist... I was so stoked to see all the amazing soda! I had a pecan root beer that was soooo good, and they had a lot of childhood classics like candy cigarettes, and just cool random stuff haha.. will be back!

Nikki H.

Yelp
This place is awesome! It has every kind of candy you can possibly imagine! I Recommend the dark chocolate sea salt caramels! They are soo good! If you're looking for some nostalgia pop into this candy store! It'll take you back to your childhood. No matter what age you are!
google avatar

Whitney R.

Yelp
Super interesting and fun place! This is the candy shop of any kids dreams! Useless yet fun toys every where that you have to talk yourself out of buying and SO MUCH CANDY! Their selection of different type of root beers alone is incredible. I have a huge family and at Christmas we draw names to see who gets who a gift. Well I always get the person I hardly know. So now I have started to come here to get gift bags of odds and ends candy and sodas and everyone loves my gifts! They even have these hazelnut happy hippo candies I remember a German foreign exchange student brought back to me once, it made me so happy to find those! Such a fun place, you must see it!
google avatar

Bridgette C.

Yelp
"This place is awesome, and I don't even like candy! My wife and I went on a whim and the atmosphere and selection were too good to pass up. If you are in town or around the square, go pick up some sweets. Owner is nice too." -my husband, Chris I agree! A great addition to our beloved Denton Square.

Chris L.

Yelp
Great selection and OK pricing. Customer service good at register but woman on the floor was quite rude and upset my 14 year old daughter with the way she talked to me. But if you want candy, a good choice.
google avatar

Chelsea L.

Yelp
Super cute candy store! Amazing selection of anything from chocolates to gummy candies etc. I love how they have a plethora of old school candy was well. Being able to pick what you want from the bulk bin style containers is great as it allows you to choose so many more types :)

Yelp
This place is so Denton. Is has unique edge and and an old school feel. They have all my sugary desires and weird stuff lol I bought some corn flavored soda from there. Tastes exactly like corn. It was wild
