On the Grid : A-Town

"This Austin Texas focused boutique gift paradise is for everyone. Whether you're looking to Keep It Weird with an Austin souvenir, a gift for a friend, or a cute shirt you'll find it here. They curate: local art, prints, sculpture, accessories, tons of candles (you could spend all day just smelling all the candles), clothing boutique, and apothecary just to list a few possibilities. They are always curating good finds, so keep an eye on this place. One of the most warm and welcoming details about this place is that they almost always have freshly baked chocolate chip cookies for FREE! The staff is always willing to help you with creative gift ideas and have an all around friendly disposition. The store is locally owned, in fact the owners also have other stores in Austin, one is a salon & clothing store in north austin duly named “Luxe Apothetique”." - XtraMileMedia

Google
I kind of thought this place would be tacky full of coasters and shot glasses but was totally wrong. Who ever is the buyer here is incredible. There is such a breadth of interesting and eclectic items you could explore for hours. This place is a lot of fun to walk around and explore. This is also a great place to buy gifts for people who are hard to please.

Google
I go here for every present or treats for myself. Great prices and variety. I wear some of the clothes because the fabric is so soft. I buy baby toys for my friends kinds there. At times they have cookies and drinks while you shop. Plus they gift wrap. Very cool and fun place always tempting to stop in when I drive by.

Google
Perfect spot for Texas themed merchandise, local wares, and has a nice selection of cute baby clothes. There is a boutique in the front and the rest of the store has a wide variety of novelty items. If you want a good Austin themed item this is a great spot for it.

Google
Such a fun place. Lots of quippy El Arroyo cards, hand towels, etc. Definitely a fun place for souvenirs or gifts. Quality and witty items. Staff were so nice. Prices were definitely fair.

Google
This is a deceptively huge & impressive, multifaceted local gift shop. Bargains may be tough to find but I'm glad I got around to exploring here. The staff is nice! Easy to approach for help and not micromanagerial as folks browse. 🤘

Google
Nostalgia on steroids! The staff were friendly and helpful. My attire was complimented on and I was offered water. Was a heater out and I found the offer thoughtful.

Google
This is absolutely an amazing store to visit. Perfect place for a gift and souvenir made by local artists. From socks, to coasters, dish towels, jewelry, clothes, art, cards... people in the store are very kind and helpful. They also run promos. Stop by so you have your own opinion of the value of this place for your shopping needs

Google
A must go for anyone coming to austin! When I first stepped into the store, I was already amazed by the range of items they provided. As I walked into the store, I discovered even more pockets of spaces that seemed endless. (AKA the store is HUGE) They have many unique little items that are reasonably priced. Great for all ages and I will definitely come back again!

Yelp
I could spend hours exploring in here. Got a magnet, stickers, an ornament, and several T-shirts. The staff gave me INCREDIBLE recommendations. I wish we had come here on the first day of our visit. Everyone was so nice and the selection of gifts offers something for everyone.

Yelp
My friend was in search of local postcards and picked out this place. They have postcards and then some! I think we spent an hour looking through everything. So many fun little gifts and souvenirs. We especially got a kick out of the themed energy drinks.

Yelp
Super cool gift and souvenir shop. I'm visiting my parents and decided to bring stuff from Austin without having to go downtown and found this place on Yelp. Lots of unique and artsy stuff. Very eclectic and quirky designs, some that my parents or kids I wouldn't want gifts for but funny nonetheless! Got a couple t shirts, mugs, coasters for my parents and was decently priced, similar to most souvenir shops. Service was great as they also gift wrap your purchases and also offer gift receipts so very much appreciated! Located on Burnet parking is a bit tight so may have to look around for parking.

Yelp
Me and my friend are in school and we came here to get something for my sister coming home from another state and I was looking for some clothes and as we were browsing an old lady employee started to follow us and ask us a bunch of questions and stalking us and was assuming we were going to steal and called the police on us for no reason but other than that it was a good store

Yelp
I took a friends rec and visited Atown on a Tuesday morning. I was immediately greeted by a lady who offered wine for me and crackers for my busy toddler. I definitely wanted to stay awhile! The shop is filled with unique gifts for every kind of person of all different passions. There are snacks, accessories, home goods, books, and art that I have never seen before. If you want to attempt to summarize Austin, you can come here and see for yourself :)

A-Town is a charming shop with everything you can imagine and much more! Excellent selections!!

Yelp
If you want to get lost in a sea of souvenirs, in Austin, go to Atown. There is so much STUFF! If you're having trouble looking for a gift for someone, trust me they probably have it. I went over to go sticker hunting and was met with a lot of stickers. Let's say I got my austin stick fix. Staff is stupeur friendly too!

Yelp
Was one of the worst experiences ever,at first me and my friend walk into the store and immediately one employee with black curly hair glasses and a mask starts following us. As we continue to walk throughout the store for 15 minutes she continues following and pretends to looks at shirts and other arrivals of clothing. Eventually she confronts us and asks what we are shopping for I respond that we are just looking around as my friend said that he had seen a cool hat that he had wanted. She continued to try to get us closer and closer to the exit as if she assumed we were going to steal something and eventually we just fellt so uncomfortable that we had to leave. I would give 0 stars if I could

Yelp
This is absolutely the most wonderful place to get souvenirs, as a tourist and also when you live here it's an excellent place to buy gifts for your friends. Now, after mulling around the store for probably 45 minutes, one of the co-owners came and brought my friend and I an ice cold glass full of Budweiser beer. This is such a wonderful Austin tradition and place to be. You really do feel so welcome here. The gifts are often locally made, and they're incredibly humorous and creative. My friend, who came here from Baton Rouge Louisiana, told me that this store is actually like shopping in a Real life "Meme!" i'm super thankful that Austin has a place like this, it's a great place to spend time, to find some humor, and to get somebody that you love something very special. And maybe that special person, as actually yourself ;))

Katherine M.

Yelp
Super cool shop! Definitely worth checking out - lots of gifts and neat items! Do want to touch base on the accessibility. I would say it's definitely not wheelchair accessible. I was in there with a stroller and could barely get around. We maybe got to see half of the items. It was more stressful than enjoyable at that point. Would definitely not go in with a stroller again. Don't see how it could be wheelchair accessible at all (no exterior ramp, stairs inside that have no ramp, aisles very close together - very sharp turns).

Yelp
For our wedding anniversary weekend my wife and I decided to visit local unique shops to buy fun but weird gifts. This was the first of the shops and it was fun and full of unique, weird, and strange items. We both enjoyed it and found some cool gifts to exchange as well as ideas for future gifts. Took some pictures and had alot of fun. Sales staff was nice and the store was a good size with good use of space. We both agreed to go back soon.

Yelp
I went in here for a last minute gift and it was so fun shopping here for something unique and fun. They have a huge card selection, and everything from novelty socks, candles, graphic tees, kitchen accessories, jewelry, journals, local art prints, and tons more! They have a lot of Golden Girls things and a whole section dedicated to El Arroyo, haha. They will gift wrap for free!

Yelp
I'd been so thrilled to finally get over to this much raved about shop. And it is just, apparently, loaded with goodies and gifts. I was excited to get shopping done. But then a woman came up to me and said that people had been stealing from them and I could put my purse in my car or in their basket they had for everyone's purse. Oh and they had a camera on the basket full of everyone's purse so mine, of course, would be so safe. Hum...they don't trust me and I hardly trusted them. Who's to say that just anyone might not take a fancy to my handbag and help themselves? Oh but we have a camera. Well, if cameras protect property so well, why not just install more in the store? Oh, the lady added, when queried, I could put my purse in my car and just carry my phone, my keys, and my wallet in my hands. It's okay, A-town. I can shop elsewhere. Apparently many people love shopping there. I would be one of them if you could discern a less offensive way of dealing with petty theft aside from looking at all customers with distrust. They say buy local... avoid Amazon. Well, I've been trying. I got in my car and drove to this shop to begin my holiday shopping a little early. Oh well. I understand the store policy, Irene. You claim to be able to protect my valuables but not your own. I highly recommend revisiting your policy and perhaps consulting professionals. Too bad your security cameras only 'protect' my property.

Yelp
I went in with a friend, I am not white, my friend is. We walked around looking at everything. I was sending gift to San Francisco. I started noticing I was being followed around the store until my white friend joined me then it stopped. I did buy some tee shirts and left. I will not go back or recommend this place to anyone.

Yelp
This store is so much fun and has unique gifts, candles, artwork and much more. I'd like to shout out an exceptional employee named Brenda. Everytime I'm there, she's so sweet, helpful and just a joy! Today she showed me some artwork that I would have missed and I absolutely love the pieces I purchased. Thank You Brenda, you put the "serve" in customer service -Maureen Scanlon

Yelp
Inside Atown is a chock full of Austin and Texas culture things. Coasters and mugs of Austin places, like the Hi, How are you? frog, Congress avenue bats bridge, You're my butter half, various Austin murals. Piles of Austin T-shirts. Walls of unique socks. Weird pillows with famous people on them. Merchandise with famous (mostly liberal) folks: AOC, RGB, Clinton, Kamala Harris, Joe Biden, Obama. This place truly embodies the Keep Austin Weird vibe. And the surprise bonus of visiting this place??? The store has a cat! That day, we found the cat napping so happily on top of stacks of youth t-shirts, seemingly oblivious to us goo-goo-gaa-gaa-ing him (or her).

Yelp
I rarely write reviews, but I was compelled to write one for Atown because I had such a great experience. I was buying Austiny gifts for 5 people and thought I would need to go to at least 2 or 3 stores because they have different interests, but amazingly I found something for everyone at Atown. They really have an incredible selection of great products. They were also very helpful and knowledgeable about pointing me to the right products for the right people. This will be my first and only stop anytime I need something Austiny or funny.

Yelp
This was actually a really cool place. Fun "gift shop" type of stuff. There's obviously a Willie Nelson resurgence, because they had a lot of stuff with his likeness. Saw a lot of him around Austin. Lots of neat "keep it weird" items. The sock wall was super neat, lot of awesome funny socks. Only draw back was the prices. Maybe I'm old school and still expect pre inflation Covid related prices. For gift shop related items tho, it was a little more than I'm willing to spend for random items. It's definitely worth a visit!!!
google avatar

Pax S.

Yelp
The potential of this store as a local boutique is immediately subjugated by a predatory staff member who will ask your name, your purpose for shopping, your budget, etc. without any consent or respect for mental space. She will tell you to social distance (even at the register, it's incredible to witness). Atown is a tourist trap with overpriced wholesale items from local vendors. If that's your vibe, go ahead!

Yelp
A must see to stop and shop so many fun items you will definitely find something for everyone on your shopping list ! Love the quirky items to choose from ! My daughter loves her new Musgraves bag !! Thanks again !

Yelp
This place has it all! They have souvenirs, crafty gifts made by local folks, local tshirts, bumper/laptop decals and sticker, and much much more. They also have a wall of socks. Yes, a sock WALL. They carry so many funky and cute things you will probably need a good hour to explore everything in here. I'm not a big shopper and I absolutely hate shopping during the holidays. With that being said I loved this place so much I actually look forward to going back!! The store is not big so that helps keep it less overwhelming. The employees are nice and helpful. The parking upfront is minimal and kind of dangerous so please beware! I highly recommend everyone go here at least once - Austinite, tourist, or whatever you are!
google avatar

Gabi B.

Yelp
Kind of expensive, but so worth the money!! They have so much cute stuff like earrings, accessories, candles, and t shirts. Austin themed things and small business goods. Great for gifts or just treating yourself! I also love that they change out their stuff often, so there's always something new in the store :)

Hannah R.

Yelp
The store itself is absolutely incredible, there is quite literally something for every single person here. I was genuinely in awe of everything and probably looked like I was walking around like a lost puppy, and a sweet woman named Brenda offered to help me with the gift items I was looking for. Within 5 minutes she somehow picked the most perfect pieces for what I needed. She was so helpful and so kind! I will absolutely be back for any and all gift needs for myself and others!

Regina L.

Yelp
There is definitely something for everyone here. Even for those who have everything!! It's in a great location. Although parking can be limited, you can always park for free down a neighborhood street. Anytime I have friends or family visit, I take them here. It's almost impossible to leave with nothing so make sure you go with the plan to spend $$! Prices range from low to high. All my favorite earrings and coffee mugs came from Atown.
google avatar

Melissa M.

Yelp
Great selection of everything from t-shirts, candles, jewelry, stickers, housewares, baby gifts, clothing and more! I love the wide variety of items at a variety of price points. Today I got an awesome Texas T-shirt and some jewelry. I wanted to see some items in the locked jewelry case and the sales associate was so helpful and patient. I live my new earrings and bracelet. Each time I come to Austin, Atown is on my shirt list of places to shop!
google avatar

Alexis B.

Yelp
I asked for recommendations on the next door app and was happy to see so many people recommending this place to buy a friend some welcome to Austin souvenirs since I couldn't go into the airport to get some goodies. I was able to get so many great stuff at this place!! A little on the pricier side but was happy with my purchase.

Yelp
I love fun gift shops, and this one is one of the most interesting I have ever seen. First, there is plenty of parking on three sides of the building (facing Burnet, facing the side street, and in the back lot). The store goes on and on with different rooms, walls, displays...it is a great place to mosey around and hunt. I saw hilarious greeting cards, printed socks galore, drinking-themed goods, magnets, postcards, desk signs, decor, t-shirts with all sorts of Texas and Austin sayings, kids and baby stuff, jewelry, beauty items, etc. I purchased a gold glittery Texas car magnet with a heart cut out where Austin would be, Texas printed socks, and a t-shirt for my dad (I won't elaborate in case he reads my review before I see him next week). The staff was friendly and gift-wrapped the shirt for free at the register. I am so glad this was on the weekly yelp last week so I would know what Atown is when I was driving along Burnet yesterday.

Keshante A.

Yelp
This is a great gift shop! Lots of local, eclectic items to choose from. The staff was really friendly too. I wounded up getting this great-smelling soap specifically for Leos (like I am!) and I doubt I could find something like this anywhere else. I will say many of the items here are on the higher priced side.
google avatar

Clau B.

Yelp
ATowwwwnn! If I can sum up ATown in 3 words I would say: Overpriced, unique, and eclectic! Pros: - Unique Austin novelty gifts - Awesome socks for men and women - Pretty extensive baby section for clothes/gifts - Chocolate chip cookies and wine available for customers - Great Men's section that has a variety of funky gift options such as a survival kit or a flask that looks like a camera - There is something here for everyone, no matter the age - Tons of unique jewelry Cons: - Overpriced - Parking sucks Overall, I would recommend this shop! It's so cute and I promise you will find something you either don't need or that will make a good gift! :)

Yelp
WOW! I'd been jonesing to come here for months after following them on Facebook and seeing them post all these things I NEED. Yes, NEED. A shirt that reads "Breakfast Tacos, All Day, Erreday" = air + water. Necessities y'all. This place is huge and is the most perfect store for unique clothing and Austin gifts, ever. Dare I say it's an Austin/Texas gift mecca. Something for everyone, jewelry, baby items, cutting boards, funny shirts and my favorite LOCAL WARES by local artisans and companies! I bought the most epic Austin Christmas gift EVER for my husband. This is a place where you can gift like a hero. I could have spent a fortune. I touched everything. Go and find a treasure for yourself and someone you love, or hell, even like, today!
google avatar

Dana D.

Yelp
I love this store and it is one of my go to places to get not only Austin themed gifts, but also items locally made in Austin. If you are looking for a quirky gift, a locally made item - particularly jewelry and candles. Lots of fun gifts here for a housewarming, wedding shower, baby shower (they have a whole kids section), new job, birthday, etc. Prices are a little high for some things, but there are definitely some deals also. There is a section with $5 earrings from GemJunkie. I could spend all day looking at the selection since there are SOO many to choose from. These make great stocking stuffers or a just because kind of gift. Some nice perks about Atown: -They accept the Go Local card, which gets you 10% off your entire purchase every time. You could easily make your money back on the cost of the card, which you can also purchase at Atown. -They do complimentary gift wrapping all year round. I think they used to offer complimentary wine and cookies, but last time I was in there, I saw that they had to stop offering either one or both of those things due to some bureaucratic city BS. My only complaint, which is really isn't a big deal, is that not *everything* here is locally made or related to Austin. But I do understand that limiting inventory to only those things probably not helpful business-wise. If you are looking for a store that only sells locally made items, check out Parts & Labor. They have a much larger local artist section if you can't find what you are looking for at Atown.

Yelp
This store is very Austin-y. You gotta have a taste for it. For being a guy myself, gladly there was a small spot for guys, but other than that, girls go for it! The store looks small on a small block along Burnet Rd. but when you walk inside you see how deep and expansive this place is! They offer all kinds of things like "boujee" things, fancy calligraphy, candles, jewelry, clothes and etc. If you ask me, my favorite thing was probably the free cookies and wine given out on a certain time of the day! Not too bad for my first time there though. Just bring a girl with you or a friend haha lol :p
google avatar

MaryLou D.

Yelp
I enjoyed the store but most of their merchandise was out of my budget. They do have some really nice things though, clothing, soaps, tons of soy candles including ones with various celebrities faces on them (2/$25), beautiful pillows also with celebrity faces on them ($35), a section of children's clothing and items that were really really cute, Texas-themed jewelry and knick knacks. They provided small glasses of Chardonnay wine which I didn't partake of and fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies which I did try and it was one of the best chocolate chip cookies I've ever eaten! My daughter told me to keep an eye out for something she could buy me as a late Mother's Day present and I spotted a real pretty lavender bracelet. I had been wearing a cheap one from Michaels for 2 or 3 years which finally broke recently so I picked out a very sturdy looking lavender beaded roll-on bracelet to replace it. I'm very happy with it. It was a fun store to look through.

Yelp
My sweetheart scored a home-run this year when he purchased small gifts and stocking stuffers for me at Atown. He must have been getting advice from some of my lady friends, because this is far beyond his usual madcap dash through the pre-wrapped, department store re-giftables. I love the locally made jewelry and quirky little toiletry items I received. Well done, sir. Alicia K's, Karen B's, and Dawn H's reviews cover just about all you need to know about why Atown is awesome, but here are a couple more reasons. I went in January to return one xmas gift item that I knew would go unused (a ceramic to-go coffee cup covered in Vespa prints; I don't drive a scooter or have a fetish for them) and came home with 2 big bags of fantastic sale items, from stylish party dresses (80% off, what?) to earrings and Austin/Texas pride Ts. Bonus was that it was time for me to buy a new Go Local card, so I got an extra discount off non-sale items (10% off clothing, 5% off the rest) and a free OPI nail polish. Score!! Someone needs to throw a party soon so I can try out all my new Atown glamour goods!

Yelp
[Yelp 365 in 2014 Challenge - 363:365] LOTS of good stuff to be found at Atown (one of the sister stores to The Blue Elephant). The place is packed and stacked with mostly Made In Austin wares. From bedazzled boxes...clothing...a magnificent "nail bar" (all brands and colors; amazing selection!)....accessories galore including some really funky, fun shades...some local "art'...posters...and many other various chotskies. Great customer service...no pressure and very helpful...AND they even offer you cookies and drinks while shopping. Score! Atown is a great store to take your time to peruse items and find many things you just HAVE to buy that you had no idea you even needed or wanted! Some of their items are overpriced (particularly the clothing in my opinion) while others are a phenomenal deal (e.g., see the entire wall of $5 handmade in Austin awesome costume necklaces and earrings!). Atown is a great place to shop for yourself, easily find a gift for that gal you never know what to buy, and don't about the guys too - what dude couldn't possible love a guitar shaped spatula or a set of stone coasters with various Austin iconic pics on them?! Seriously. ;)

Yelp
Best, most baller, most "Find Something For Everyone On Your List" gift shop in Austin. And that fact that it's locally owned will make you feel good about supporting your local economy (as opposed to opening your Amazon app and ordering). Like so many other reviewers have said, you might have a very difficult time with self control at Atown. You'll want to buy everything. Among the many things that they have that are fun, unique, and make exceptional gifts: - Cute, trendy, classy greeting cards that you can't find at many other places in Austin - A large selection of sizes and colors and the Blue Capri "Volcano" candle, which if you don't know, is the best smelling candle in the history of the world and makes the #1 perfect gift - Lots of fun takes on prayer candles with people like Ann Richards and Beyonce - Several lines of Texas-y and Austin-y T-shirts and a few lines of uber cute Texas-y baby onesies - Plenty of items of all types that reflect Austin culture and history They also have actual parking, which is refreshing for businesses in this area. Oh, and they'll gift wrap for free!

Brandi J.

Yelp
It is with a heavy heart that I write this review. A town has been for a long time one of my favorite local stores in Austin for giftgiving. Because of a rash of shoplifting, they are demanding to have all purses placed at the front counter regardless of their size. Since I was not comfortable leaving my purse with strangers and on top of a counter for anyone to take, I was asked to leave the store. Such a shame! They must find a better way to combat shoplifters without upsetting loyal current customers.

Yelp
I didn't think this place lived up to the hype at all. No wine, no cookies. Sign outside says "wine and cookies while you shop" and all that's left is an empty table... They shouldn't advertise it if it's a "sometimes" thing. Rude staff. Not warm people. One woman even interrupted me from afar to correct me when she heard me pronounce Mueller Neighborhood as "Miller" Neighborhood (because the family it was named after does in fact, say "Miller"). I smiled and said, "I've heard it said both ways." She repeats, "it's pronounced Mueller". It was so rude and uncalled for. She was so far away from me, too!! I'm not a tourist, I live in Austin and it's very common for people to say words differently like Manchaca or Ceasar Chavez. No one comes to shop there wanting store workers opinions... Personally, I wasn't impressed with their gifts either. I think "Austin Gifts" in south Austin has way more Texas gift options with homemade options available too, and for much less money.

Yelp
I am writing this review with a heavy heart and complete dissatisfaction of Atown's customer service. A few days ago, my husband and I had family friends visiting from out of town. As I have customarily done when family and friends have previously visited, we took this group of 4 senior citizens to Atown to support a local business and shop for Austin memorabilia. Shortly after we arrived, the group dispersed and my husband and I were repeatedly followed by one of Atown's employees. Initially, I thought I may have been overreacting; however, it was soon apparent that that was not the case. I was followed from room-to-room, watched closely, and observed like I was a criminal on the prowl. I was never once asked if I need assistance or if I had questions about the merchandise. The female employee pretended to fold clothes and rearrange goods while peering at my every move. As the only people of color in that store at the time, I could not help to feel that this was a racially motivated act on the employee's part and bias was cast down based on the color of our skin. I was absolutely disgusted; I had to intentionally remove myself from the store while my family friends continued to shop. I did not want to ruin their experience in the store nor did I want to sour their perception of Austin, so I kept this experience to myself until now. My family friends purchased many items from the store that day and even were given free stickers, but that is no consolation for how I was profiled. For the record, I am a working professional in the Austin area, and I have never had a criminal record. I resent that I was treated unfairly and judged for a person who would be capable of stealing based off preconceived notions. I encourage management to re-evaluate their policies and educate themselves on anti-discrimination practices.

Yelp
Atown is a very "Austin" store. It basically sells very odd and cute items. It's main target market is women, but there is a small men's corner inside. The store looks tiny from the outside. Like really small. Once you walk around, you realize it's actually fairly large. It's very deceiving from the outside. Near the register you'll find a small table that has free cookies and wine (oh man they are on top of things) to welcome you. There's a large variety of items inside, but they're basically all either cute or unique. It's pretty difficult to describe what exactly they sell, but some examples are dinosaur succulents, vulgar nameplates, Samuel L. Jackson pillows, cute kitchenware, scented candles, shirts, and much more. If you ever need a gift for someone (more so for a girl), you can probably find something here that they would like. A gift for yourself can't hurt either!

Yelp
This place is so cool. Lots of unique and eclectic items. Represents Austin style to the max. Love the selection of candles, jewelry and t-shirts. Especially like the selection of unique socks. Looking for a great unique gift this place has it.
google avatar

Monique F.

Yelp
Okay let's just all agree that this store is the most extensive gift/trinket/fun things store we've ever been to. Well, for me at least that was the case! We drove past the place and I figured it'd be a cute spot to kill time at. Would recommend to locals and tourists alike! It has a very welcoming and fun vibe where there is something for everyone. My dad usually hates these types of stores, and even he loved it! Whether you're looking for a new unique tshirt, some art, clothing, birthday cards, or trinkets. I love the amount of local art they have-- making some of the gifts one of a kind. Also very reasonably priced considering many of the items are uniquely made by local artisans! All the employees were also super nice and willing to help us find what we needed. They weren't overly pushy or helpful, so it was a great balance that added to the comfortable atmosphere!

Yelp
I don't know how I've lived in Austin this long and passed by this place so often and yet never gone in. This is seriously a true gem of a store in town - I don't think there is anything else like it. They advertised cookies and wine while you shop, which I didn't see or get offered, so that would be my only knock on the place. They have so many different areas in the store (it's bigger than it looks from the outside!) that are packed with unique items that are perfect for you or as gifts. The staff was friendly, but equally gave you the time and space to explore all that the store has to offer (which was much appreciated). Be sure to continue to shop local and give yourself a fair bit of time to comb through everything Atown has to offer - I think it would be tough to leave there empty handed.

Yelp
As you will see from my profile, I NEVER write reviews but this place is so amazing that I had to write a review!! This place is amazing! I was introduced to this local delight by a friend and it was the perfect place to pick up gifts for my family while in Austin. The staff was super helpful and having wine while I completed my purchase was brilliant touch! If you are visiting Austin or you are new to the city, go support this amazing store!!

Yelp
This is absolutely my favorite shop in Austin. I'm a displaced Austinite and I always look for neat Austin stuff to take back with me while visiting. I love stickers and patches and unique art. This place has all of those things in spades. The vibe, organization, and feel of this place is super great. The people here were very nice. They had everything I was looking for and all the stuff I didn't know I was looking for. About the only thing I could possibly critique is that the shirts don't come in my size. (But that's the case with just about everywhere. Two foot wide shoulders will do that.) I'd also like to see a website so I can get cool Austin stuff when I'm not visiting home. Thanks for making my trip home complete folks!

Yelp
Certainly priced for the destination location Austin already is. Be prepared. Californians will think it's cheap, Texans may scoff at some of the prices. They certainly get it the Austin attractions right. Don't miss the Tim Doyle poster prints in the back towards the men's fashion.

Yelp
I was so excited to get my years Christmas socks for the family here. I always love the atmosphere and the employees are usually so helpful. Brenda on the other hand was not. She profiled my friend and I and followed us around the store. Asking us if we needed help 5 times. We were in the store for maybe 45 minutes while she followed us around the store making us feel extremely uncomfortable and unwanted there. I will not be going back to this store. Don't waste your time on overpriced items you can find online or elsewhere.

Yelp
I just love the Central Texas essence of merchandise Atown offers and that it is a locally owned store. The music that they play reminds me of when I first moved to Austin circa 1983 and everything was fresh, fun and indescribably Austin.

Yelp
This is essentially Austin, to me . It's just a mile from where I grew up, off of Burnet, has COOL local products, and is a great place to pick up (slightly overpriced, but not really because WORTH it) gifts. I've probably picked up as many things for myself here as I have for other people - a great substitute pick me up if you're trying not to eat ice cream when you feel down. I love the cool greeting card area, the tokyo milk lotions (gin and rosewater is my fave), the awesome author-themed candles (Edgar Allen Poe smelled great, ya'll), the misheard lyric coasters, and the rooms and rooms you can go through to look for things. Also cool jewelry? Check. I'm going through a laser-cut wood jewelry phase right now, myself. Aptly named, Atown. Aptly named.

Yelp
The ladies at the shop was very nice. The store amazed me of how big the size is of the whole store. I love all the hand made items and recycled items in the store like a recycled bag made from bottles or those rubber coasters. My family and I enjoyed ourselves
