Attaboy Burger? More like absolute bummer.
I've been working through the Canteen Food Hall at the Rio Hotel & Casino, and it was Attaboy's turn at bat today. There was a big pool (billiards) event at the Rio today, so even if I wanted to stand in line for once, using the kiosks for the food hall was a better option. They accept Rio dining credit and points for payment, which is as easy as a swipe, a PIN entry, and a few more taps of the screen.
It felt like either a good or bad sign that their menu is so simple. I went for the Double smash burger ($12.00) with a side of The 50/50 ($7.00), aka both onions rings and curly fries. Despite being a double patty, the burger was small. Even worse, it was bland, despite the included "fancy sauce" and my attempts to add any number of additional sauces on the side. The cherry on top was that the beef patties had few if any crispy edges, which is what you look for in a smash burger.
The beer battered onion rings were pretty bland too, and the curly fries were plain, on the dry side, and overwhelmingly served as matchsticks rather than the lengthy spirals which you hope to get.
I was considering giving them some benefit of the doubt at the ~2.5 star fence, but then they didn't provide me with a cup for water when I asked. Even if they were out of water cups, they still had plenty of alternative cups to offer. I have been able to get a water cup for free from at least one of the other food hall businesses, but it would have felt really awkward to do so while holding a burger.
With only two more places remaining for me to try, Attaboy Burger is the prohibitive favorite for worst food option at Canteen Food Hall. Considering both quality and price, I would have preferred getting most if not all fast food burgers over this spot. I will almost certainly not return here for any reason.
