TL;DR: This place is surviving off atmosphere alone, because the service is awful, the food/coffee is mid, and there’s no internet on weekends (which they don’t bother to mention).
I used to love this coffee shop. I travel often for work, and stopping in Spokane was always a highlight because of this place, but my latest visit was rough. The staff felt noticeably cold and somehow both disengaged and overwhelmed? I had to wait for the cashier to finish a personal conversation before even acknowledging me. I’m all for having fun at work, but if someone’s standing at the counter… maybe just a quick “I’ll be right with you.” Not asking for much. And before you say, "this is just the PNW attitude..." I'm from New York City, so... try again lol.
When I finally ordered, I sat down and couldnt connect to the WiFi, so I asked if the Wi-Fi password had changed. Instead of a simple answer, I heard a shout from across the bar, “NOT ON WEEKENDS.” So, I'll be the one to tell you, since it's not posted anywhere: they don’t allow customers to use the internet on weekends. lol.
The upside? I wandered over to First Avenue Coffee and had a great experience — friendly staff, plenty of seating, excellent coffee, and yes… all the Wi-Fi I could desire. And it's near a dispensary, so... two birds.
I’m hoping this was just an off day, but it was a pretty stark contrast from how warm and welcoming this place used to be.
