"Looking to impress someone special? Search no further than this unexpected back alley hideaway. Still one of Dallas’ best-kept secrets, hiding behind the front door are lavish cocktails, warm Victorian décor, and dark corners. Don’t fret about the lack of menu, tell the bartenders your spirit preference and trust in their expertise." - Lauren Coe

This place is great for an intimate night with craft cocktails, the perfect little speak easy in Dallas. It is small and quaint, two stores with a bar on each floor. Great for grabbing a drink to kick off your night out, or having a night cap after dinner.

The bartenders here are REAL bartenders. They will make you incredible drinks with little guidance needed. Can be hard to grab a seat here but always worth the struggle.

Very nice vibes, great bartender, and they played mac miller the entire time we were there 😊😊😊😊

Atwater Alley is a neat little speakeasy-themed bar tucked away in the northernmost region of Knox-Henderson. Lots of dark wood throughout the place, and limited seating space, give it a very roaring-twenties vibe. The bartenders have made all of the cocktails I've ever asked for (mules, old fashioneds, whiskey sours, etc.) excellently, and that hasn't changed much since it opened. Later in the evening, say after ~10PM, you won't find much seating. So if you plan on spending most of your time in one spot, get here shortly after dinner, and stay until you're ready to go home.

I want to start this out with saying the drinks were delicious. We told the bartender the types of drinks we like and he made us something along those lines since they don't have a drink menu. He knocked it out of the park. However, we decided to only stay for 1 drink after the encounter with the bouncer working the door. I saw all the great reviews of this place, so I decided to plan my birthday around going to this speakeasy. We had originally planned to hangout here for a few hours and have a couple drinks, but chose to leave early after getting berated by the bouncer. We did dinner in Trinity Grove and then Ubered to the bar so we wouldn't have to deal with parking (approx 9:30pm, so it was still early in the night). Each of us had 1-2 drinks throughout dinner, so we were all completely sober when we arrived at this bar. We walk up, and the guy immediately starts asking how many drinks we've had as if we were acting drunk. We were walking normally up to the door. We stood there so he could check our IDs and continued to ask about how much we'd been drinking as if we were lying and acting super drunk. Again, we weren't. We were all sober and getting annoyed with how rude he was being for no apparent reason. I stepped up onto the sidewalk as we were about to go in, but I did it in a weird way after injuring my knee last week, and he latched onto that and started asking if I was alright and implying I was drunk. It was completely uncalled for, rude, and ruined the overall experience at the speakeasy. Perhaps this isn't the normal experience. I'm shocked this place has so many great reviews with no mention of this bouncer's absurd behavior (maybe he's new?). Because I completely understand wanting to ensure a belligerent drunk doesn't ruin the atmosphere and experience of the bar, but that doesn't mean you berate and interrogate every patron that attempts to walk through the door, especially when they're behaving normally and being respectful as they approach the bar. I won't be returning to this bar after this poor experience. And if you're planning to attend, be prepared to defend your prior activities and your level of sobriety, even when you're sober.

I love how this speakeasy is tucked away in an alley. Small intimate space, that serves up some dang good cocktails.

Super cool speakeasy, I really love that this is a menu less bar and the bartenders are true mixologist and craft great cocktails.

Really cozy speakeasy with seating for small or large groups and 2 bars, one upstairs and one down. Playing old hip hop and r&b when I went; was also told they play New Orleans jazz earlier in the day. Really liked the music. Like the design and atmosphere. Cocktails are more expensive than other places but are made well with fresh ingredients. Otis is nice and makes good drinks.
