Recommend. Delicious food, quick friendly service, relaxing atmosphere. Order at counter service. The best barbacoa tacos we’ve had anywhere, highly recommend trying them.

Had a great birthday lunch at Atwater Street Tacos in Flatrock. The Quesabirria tacos were amazing, especially with the consomé. My wife ordered the chicken burrito (enough for two!). We sat on the heated patio, which was nice with the river view. Food was really good, and the prices were fair. Check out the pics - worth a trip!

My partner & I are not newbies to Atwater Street Tacos. We visited Monroe & Flatrock. My partner had The Veggie tacos. In his words looked good,tasted good. He loved them. I had the big Ole Burrito. My old stand by. With my favorite Juarrito Grapefruit. My only complaint was that it was 90° outside. So we ate inside. No air on. Was cooler inside but no by much.

I love my hometown taco place! It's so good. The kids enjoyed feeding all the baby ducks too.

Everything is delicious and fresh. Staff are friendly and prompt and the restaurant is always clean. They work like a well oiled machine from the moment the order is placed to the moment they hand you your freshly prepared food. Full of hustle and bustle but the food is consistently a standout. I will never turn down an invitation for carryout from Atwater. Whether you take it home or choose to eat at their adorable patio that overlooks the river, you won’t be disappointed.

First time here today. We had fish tacos and flautas. The food was fantastic. We sat on the patio(enclosed). It was really nice. We will definitely be back.

I stopped in and had lunch the food was alright but could have definitely used more seasoning. I don't know if it's just me but I never enjoyed Mexican food until I went to Progreso and ate ...

Please read the total review. This is a double edged review. First visit every this was great. Great tacos and sides, we got combos. Yesterday's visit is a mixed review. Ordered at 3:02 was informed no combos after 2:00PM. Ordered 5 tacos (perfect) street corn (very good) side of rice ( very good but a very small amount) the beans ( terrible ) looks like they were the bottom of the pot. The portion was small and were watered down almost the consistency of soup. They had no flavor. Total bill was $34.98. Everyone has a off day, we'll be back.

Wow wow wow! Yum yum yum! Super cute little date for us when we both have odd shifts, perfect for meeting in the middle! I didn't see the text that our food was ready since I get so many from work but we will use my dates number next time LOL tacos were still hot 20 mins later when I finally checked my messages! Cutest park next door too! We plan on making this a regular stop! Thank you to the great staff too in helping me pick my order. Awesome!

For my review of Atwater tacos I enjoy my burrito I said 10 out of 10 I love the service very kind and the ambience is very bright. I love that they have a patio face in the water that's a plus.. I also love the presentation they have for my food, even though it's in the box to go but you can take to go or you can sit down and eat it whatever how you like it . If you're looking for tacos or Mexican food as best casual, I'll come Atwater tacos in flat rock area. I personally enjoyed more than Chipotle . I love the freshness of the food these local ingredients thats a plus. if you're craving Mexican food. I definitely come and check out the spot that I am reviewing.

If I lived closer to ATS they'd probably know me by name and/ or my order before walking in. I love the food for its fresh ingredients and spices they use, it's so flavorful even without being spicy. But they have wonderful options for heat if that's your preference. The chip and salsa "flight" does not disappoint. Can't recall all 4 salsa options, but there's a habanero, a guacamole option (fabulous) and their original (delish). Flautas are a favorite of mine and you get lots of garnish on top + beans & rice so leftovers or sharing are possible. This time I shared Steak Birria tacos and they were excellent! The birria sauce on the side is So delicious I had it on my tacos, my rice, dipped a flauta in it like it was au jus and spooned up the rest like it was a perfect spicy soup. I just couldn't resist. I've also had the Chicken Tinga quesadillas and they had such a delicious flavor that it makes it difficult to decide what to eat. I'm lucky my friend is willing to share entree's because that makes it easier. The main dining area has seating for about 25-28 at lower 4 person tables and higher bar height seats. There's also an outdoor, covered patio which could hold about the same number of diners. It's right next to the river so it's kind of nice. Always a flow of carry out orders whenever I go. 1 bathroom each guys and gals which are clean, spacious so handicap accessible as is restaurant entrance - no stairs or thresholds. Can't recall doorway to outdoor patio though. Prices are affordable for amount of food you get, $-$$. Staff are friendly, efficient and you give them your name or cell number and when food is ready you pick up at counter. Parking lot is about 10-12 vehicles and off side street, not Telegraph Rd.

Not sure where the three stars or lower reviews are coming from. These tacos were flavor bombs. I got chorizo, asada and carnitas. The chorizo, for me, was by far the tastiest. The portions are decent, the folks were very kind, the whole atmosphere invites you to spend time enjoying your food. The location is awesome, you've got a little river behind the place and some outdoor seating as well. I can't think of a single thing to complain about. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal.

My boyfriend and I frequently visit Atwater a couple times a month - which says a lot since we're the type to cook at home unless we're out eating at a restaurant. We've visited so many times now and never have we had a bad experience. The staff is always fast, helpful and friendly. The cooks does an amazing job keeping up with business flow and providing delicious food that's not just thrown in a container like other businesses would do. Atwater was my first elotes experience and I've been hooked on them since. I always get it with my tinga quesadilla. We always get our food for pickup since we live close, but the dining area always looks well kept and the outside eating area is also well maintained with a lovely view of the water and duckies. You can also rent paddleboats! (Which we will do one day lol) Will continue to support this businesses

I love their food, it's so delicious. Everything on the menu is so tasty, the quality and size of the food you get is great. Their specialty drinks are delicious also. I come here about once a week and never have been disappointed. Exceptional service as well.

The birria tacos are amazing and won't disappoint you ! Tried almost everything on this menu and all the food is great! Staff is always friendly and very welcoming. Food comes out fairly fast and they are never cheap with their portions ! Ambiance is always positive and friendly. Try this hidden gem it won't disappoint you !!

One of my favorite places for a street taco! They have a great menu with many other items that are just as great as the tacos.

This very authentic Mexican street food is OUTSTANDING! I would highly recommend this joint to everyone. My sister and I stopped in for lunch after checking the menu online. My sister ordered the cheese enchiladas, it was a very generous portion plus excellent beans and rice on the side. I had the shrimp street tacos and we also enjoyed the flight of CHIPS. Needless to say we took half home. Plus we had to try the Street Corn OMG!! AMAZING!!! You must go. Not kidding!

This place is great for Mexican food downriver. I drive 25 minutes to get to it because it is worth it. The staff is always friendly, food is served in big portions, prices are reasonable, and the flavoring is excellent!

We love Atwater! While it is a bit expensive, we don't mind knowing that they get their meat locally. Food is delicious, service is good, and the outdoor patio is gorgeous in the summer.

Was just passing through, not on the hunt for a life changing meal but that's what I got. Everyone claims to have the best street tacos but these were next level.

Our favorite is the Elote. But the Queso dip is always another great starter. I love the Chicken Flountas

The food was super good and had a great day there with family and friends they were very kind to me and my friends while we ordered. There is one thing that was not pleasant witch was that they were a wait because of how small it was but other than that it was amazing

I've eaten here multiple times. It's always fresh and delicious. It feels as close to homemade as "faster" food can get. Get the corn-- yummy!

Have to say I have had many a street taco in my life. These were the best I ever tasted. I got 2 diff kinds of chicken and a shredded beef. Total of 3. All 3 types were delectable. The service was good too. It was around $17 with drink and rice and beans. Wish they had alcohol but not a dealbreaker. As I am typing I want 3 more!

I was pleasantly surprised by this spot! Not being from Michigan, I may have passed some judgement on how good the tacos could be here but I can admit the quality is impressive... We tried out a few street tacos and the meat and salsa blew me away! Atwater is not messing around! I would absolutely frequent this place if I lived nearby. I hope to try out some other things on their menu sometime in the future.

Great food. Quick service. My fav is the steak fajitas bowl with their queso on side. Mix this all together and it is pure heaven. If they run the shrimp bowl, that is even better. Dining on the patio and watching the ducks, kayakers, and fisherman is so relaxing.

Authentic Mexican food, where you can sit and watch the ducks swim on Atwaters beautiful patio. I had the beef street tacos, delicious. After eating you can work off your meal on the nature trail across the stream at the park. A full day of food and nature.

Took a chance here when passing through the area and i was so impressed with the corn tortilla tacos. Everything was so fresh and the tacos were so delicious! Cool place definitely coming back!

The food is always good. The service is always quick, I just wish the restaurant was bigger.

No dine-in available yet. I have been wanting to try this downriver spot for months. They have carry out and a small 7 table patio, weather permitting. There are also some tables at the park next to the restaurant. There's a decent view of the Huron river at the park and next the taco joint. You order at one window, they will text you when your food is up, bring your receipt and they will hand it over through their plexi glass. We got 2 mandarin Jarritos, chips and guacamole with a side of salsa, 1 rojo chicken enchilada, 2 chicken tinga tostadas, 3 street tacos marinated chicken, cilantro and onions. I got a text 8 minutes later. The single chicken tinga rojo enchilada is okay, it's annoying since it keeps falling apart every time I try to pick up a small intact piece to eat it. Argh. Each order has a set amount, no a la carte at all, found that after I paid. Each order of the tostadas comes with two tostadas. There was a nasty short black hair in one if the tostadas, underneath the chicken. I was turned off and felt nauseous after seeing the hair. I ate cautiously at first and gave up as nauseous set in thinking about the hair and hoping I wouldn't find anymore in my food. I couldn't stomach eating the second tostada. In fact I was done eating afterwards. The rice is flat, boring and devoid of flavor. Their beans are disgusting. The tostadas are better at Taco Bell then this joint, but perhaps it's all they have downriver. Do come here if you like a Stella way hair in your food. The guacamole is okay, it comes in a big sized tub. Their salad app tastes like marinara sauce, it's mild and belongs on pasta, not on corn chips. Their chips and tostada tortillas are all from a bag. Not fresh, generic. The corn chips are tossed into a storage bin, by the bathrooms, nice. The quality of the food for the prices here are beyond disappointing. It's all so subpar. I would have been more satiated at Taco Bell or a food truck over this overhyped garbage they try to sell as food here. Service was okay. It would have been good to double check that I wanted 4 tostadas, when I only wanted 2 total. The quality of the food here is really bad, embarrassingly and shamefully bad.

Let me start off by saying this place is beautiful! You can eat outside by the river or inside with view on the river still. It sits on the river. Service is quick and employees are very nice! The food was AMAZING! I had the elote and fish tacos. Best fish tacos I've ever had in my life! Elote was amazing with flavor! This will be my go to for tacos!

Great food and service. Nice staff. Lots of options from authentic street tacos to French fries smothered in delicious. Amazing desserts when they have them. Dog friendly so bring your best friend too!

Shrimp tacos. Once a week! Monica and her crew are fantastic! And the view of the river in the snow from the winterized porch is stunning...we take our out of town guests there for the food and the view!

I'm not one that usually writes reviews but I just had to all because of the fish tacos. Omg, these tacos are the best I've ever had and I travel a lot. They have the perfect texture with a bursts of flavor. I absolutely love it with the lime, it's a must. I've been coming here for over a year now and it never disappoints. On top of amazing food, you get an amazing view on the patio which they open up in the summer. You can't go wrong, but be prepared to pay a little extra. If you plan on coming back I recommend signing up for their rewards so you can start saving. I promise it's worth every penny. The service is great and I like that they text you when the food is ready. Hope you enjoy this wonderful gem.

The hours were a little different due to the New Years holiday, but we were able to snag some chips and dips for a party. The queso is delicious and the guacamole was good. I didn't care for the refried beans. The chips were warm and delicious as well.

This is probably the best alternative between Amayas or going further north to Galindos for Mexican food in the area. The options are decent but the food often seems a bit "pre-prepared then assembled" versus coming out hot and fresh.

The food is so good and yummy I'm definitely coming back ! Just the right amount of spice and everything! Made me feel like I was at home tbh also it's near the water so you see the ducks and all the babies very nice ! Definitely coming back again

Good food. The staff was friendly and helpful. They were busy but the food still came up quick. I had the fish tacos and the wife had a steak quesadilla. We both had plenty of food and neither of finished it all. We also had chips and white queso, they were great too.

Update because I finally tried the torta! Atwater is still crushing it with delicious food, and a few effortless and safe options during COVID-19. As usual the tacos, queso, and burritos are all excellent, but if you've never had the torta, you must try it! I did the classic torta with al pastor as the meat choice. The sandwich is a generous portion, and the bread is fresh from a local bakery. Just wanted to shout out this great spot for staying strong during 2020 and stepping up their game. Highly recommend. This has become one of our main go tos for takeout and tacos.

I had the fajita bowl with chicken and added pineapple. It was amazing! Melted cheese and then most tender and flavorful chicken with perfectly cooked veggies. We are literally on our way there for dinner again because we are from IL and won't be able to come back. My husband and daughter had the street tacos and loved them. Good service and nice place. We sat on the outdoor patio which was really nice!

First time I tried it I was in love with there food highly recommend! It was the perfect balance of sweet and salty flavor I loved it and the customer service was great once again highly recommend

Let me start off by saying the food was delicious! It is everything I expect of a Taco place. I ordered the Atwater Shrimp Tacos + Chips & Salsa and they did not disappoint. However, everything leading up to getting my food was a battle. The parking lot is incredibly tiny and difficult to park in during a rush. There is no designated area to stand when you enter the place, so if there is a-lot of people in there, you're all just crowded around. Once I received my tacos the lady was nice enough to think of giving me green sauce with the extra salsa I asked for. Didn't even think to ask and she was a step ahead. Good customer service. Overall, I would recommend... to go when it is not lunch or dinner time.

Service was pretty poor. Ordered to eat in and they took my phone number but never texted when ready. They stated they did but never tried to contact us- we were outside. Outside area not screened and very hot. Food was barely warm. Probably wouldn't go again.
