Hot Luck Fest 2022’s Full Chef Lineup Is Here | Eater Austin

"An annual Memorial Day weekend food-and-music festival produced by pitmaster Aaron Franklin, venue owner James Moody, and Feast Portland co-founder Mike Thelin, running Friday through Sunday, May 26–29. The event presents a full chef roster (including out-of-town and Texas cooks), multiple concerts with acts such as indie rock band Superchunk, retro-rock Shannon and the Clams, DJ Jazzy Jeff performing with Austin’s DJ Mel, Cam Cole, and the Joe Marcinek Band with George Porter Jr., and uses several local venues for performances. Programming includes chefs- and industry-only gatherings (for example, a pool party), a ticket-pickup day featuring on-site cooking, and an exclusive Giddy Up event. Ticketing options range from single-concert prices of $10–$24 to full-festival packages (the “Whole Enchilada”) at $500 per person with reduced youth and family rates and select premium events priced higher; the festival names the Southern Smoke Foundation as its charity beneficiary. Launched in 2017, a planned 2020 edition was postponed and later canceled due to the pandemic, and organizers may preview a forthcoming East Austin sandwich shop and bar during the weekend." - Nadia Chaudhury

Pretty terrible experience. I don't know who's idea was it to face the loud speakers facing the wall to create a loud sound tunnel. There was only 2 things that I enjoyed from there. I saw so much frozen food being reheated. $16 for 1 bao and it's frozen. LOL. Never going again.

This year was not good. Very long lines for fried good..way over priced. The whole festival was about waiting in line to eat below average food. And the loud blasting disco music was ridiculous. Heard more than one person say it was their first and last time.
