"Au 14 Février stands on rue du Bœuf, among the Renaissance mansions, cobbled streets and arcaded galleries in the heart of historical Lyon. A wonderful location in which to sample the surprise menu of chef Tsuyoshi Arai, whose talent and imagination are no longer up for discussion. Born in Kyoto, he belongs to the large family of Japanese chefs who have fallen for France's culinary heritage. He elevates exceptionally fresh ingredients (Miéral poultry, Wagyu beef) by playing on textures, bitterness and acidity: peas, broad beans and snow peas with tamarind, crab and caviar; beetroot tarte tatin with strawberries and foie gras; squab cooked over a cherry wood fire… At every meal, he enchants his clientele with his seasonal symphony. On top of that, the service is extremely obliging." - Michelin Inspector

Wow wow wow. There are no words to describe the experience. We had a perfect time!!! We celebrated a wedding anniversary and simply chose the right place to celebrate. The dishes were meticulous, super tasty, and satisfying. The service was so kind and nice. The restaurant is beautifully decorated. We recommend everyone to come to this restaurant in Lyon.

The starter bread was beautifully thin with a slight sweetness and a piece of a savory salami in the middle. The entire dinner experience was a detail over-flowing presentation where each bit and piece of food was crafted with ultra precision. The bread and cheeses course blew us away with the quality and the quantity. We all loved the sorbet and cherished the white chocolate peach that popped open to reveal white cream and apricot jelly. Finally, the finale dessert drawer was exquisitely presented and each little ball or stick was a mouth full of flavor and texture. It was a very pleasant experience with the service being very polite and infused with that aura of Japan.

Given the Michelin star and the price we were expecting a good dinner but this restaurant was superb. Amazing flavours, delicious combinations and a very well balanced tasting menu. My only slight criticism was the speed of service at the start when we were enjoy amuse bouches and an aperitif. This was soon corrected and the rest of the evening was great.

We enjoyed a lovely meal here for our anniversary. Everything in the set menu was delicious. We chose not to pay extra for the Wagyu beef and were very happy with the venison course. The couple next to us ordered the beef which the waiter showed them before it was cooked. My reaction to the highly marbled piece was that it looked like a lot of fat😳 When they were presented with the small cooked slices, I was very glad that we had gone with the venison. The chocolate dessert was one of the best I have ever had! We took the four glasses of wine offering and were puzzled when three of the four came with the three entrées; apparently we were to have no wine with the fish course and the last glass was red to go with the venison. It could have been explained better. We had difficulty understanding our Asian waiters descriptions of the courses in French or English because of her accent but it was all delicious. The setting was open and airy with large windows looking onto the street of Vieux Lyon.

An incredible experience all around. I would dine here again without a doubt and only wish this experience was available to me in my own home town. The food experience was incredible but the service really took it to the next level. If you have the budget to enjoy such an experience - make sure to add this to your list when visiting Lyon.

Creative Michelin starred dining. The restaurant is located in the old town of Lyon & a lovely reception area leads off to the next building where the dining room is. Serviced by Japanese staff who are proficient in French but a little lacking in English skills (which made it difficult to understand some of the explanations - but we are in France, so the fault lies with us for not being to speak the local lingo). The dining room is charming & we scored a lovely table by the window. This restaurant has a unique way of folding their napkins which sets the stage for an evening of creative dishes which the chef & his team have obviously given much thought. There is an option to upgrade the main to Japanese wagyu beef but we opted for the original degustation which had roast lamb as the main meat dish. The food was simply sublime - at times, little notes of Japanese influence appeared in the dishes. Subtle & refined but blending in beautifully. The pan fried foie gras was melt in the mouth delicious. The langoustines were sweet & juicy. The lamb was perfectly roasted. I could go on …. Suffice to say, each dish was perfection itself. The 2 desserts were outstanding. Particularly loved the “red lips” of chocolate. Overall - a delectable meal & with 1 Michelin star in its pocket, won’t be surprised if another is on its way.

Such a beautiful experience and one of the best michelin restaurants i went to in Lyon. Chef Arai puts his creative genius into the food and it is exceptionally crafted as it comes out. The waitstaff were super nice and were a pleasure to talk to throughout the meal as well with all their recommendations. It is definitely a place I’d return to in Lyon for fine dining

Great lunch with top service and quality dishes in fine Japanese style. Fixed menu. Wide selection of champagne and reasonable burgundies and rhones. A must for Lyon visit and book well ahead
