"Strasbourg is both the capital of and the largest city in the Grand Est, formerly known as Alsace-Champagne-Ardenne-Lorraine—and the only region in France where both beer and wine are produced. In 1268, brewing beer became an official trade in Strasbourg and, today, five breweries in Alsace (Fischer, Heineken, Karlsbrau, Kronenbourg, and Meteor) produce 50 percent of France’s beer. Since 1991, Au Brasseur has been making its own beer in the same space that Espérance brewery operated from 1746 to 1863. Here, the Brasseur boys serve cold, unfiltered, and unpasteurized pints straight from the vat. Try the Blanche d’Ill, a spicy and slightly citrusy malted wheat beer served with an orange peel, or the Brune de Quai, which features strong notes of coffee and chocolate. For pairing with your suds, the brewery also serves traditional Alsatian dishes, including flammkuchen (tarte flambée)."

The food was good. We paid €44 for what you see on the table and a bottle of water (30.05.25). However, there was sometimes a heavy, unpleasant smell inside. We thought it might be coming from the kitchen — maybe a vegetable or pork. We chose to sit in a corner where there wasn’t much food smell. We waited around 10 minutes for our food, which is reasonable considering the restaurant is quite popular. It’s one of the older restaurants in the city, so that might explain the smell. The place is quite spacious, and even if there’s a line at the door, the wait is usually no more than 10 minutes. Flammkuchen is one of the most popular dishes here. They also have a terrace outside, but it was too cramped, so we chose to sit inside. The staff were fast and attentive. Overall, it was a good experience — we were satisfied. We recommend it!

Portions were very generous for the price. The beers were nice and fresh, and the staff was nice. The food was pretty good, it's like pub food.

Smelly and old french pub with amazing food, beer and authentic atmosphere. Worth a visit! Loved the meat slow cooked in beer.

This restaurant offers an authentic experience with a very friendly and professional staff. The service is excellent, and the food is exceptional, both authentic and incredibly delicious. They also brew their own excellent beer. The server was both professional and personable. Having been here before, I will definitely return.

We had a late lunch today at Au Brasseur and it was amazing 🤩 The food was great, and the portions were super well served. We had a Chef Burguer and the Alsatian burger with Spaetzel, it was soooo good! We totally suggest you to check this place out if in Strasbourg.

Au Brasseur was recommended to us because of its delicious beer and food, and we were not disappointed! Immediately after arriving in Strasbourg, we made our way there and ordered the tasting set, tarte flambée, and a cheese platter. The beer was simply excellent, and the food was delicious. The atmosphere at Au Brasseur was very pleasant, and the staff were super friendly and attentive. It's easy to see why this place is a hit with both locals and tourists. The vibe is vibrant yet cozy, making it a perfect spot for students and groups of friends to enjoy a great evening out. Tarte flambée is only 4 € during happy hour—definitely a must-try! We got a table for two on the terrace even at prime time on a Saturday evening. The happy hour dishes and drinks were clearly marked, and we enjoyed sampling the delicious beers with this offer. The tarte flambées were excellent and reasonably priced. The place was buzzing with both locals and visitors, offering a great escape from the usual tourist spots. The price-performance ratio is fantastic, making it a go-to whenever we're in Strasbourg. Tip: Be sure to try the tasting set to taste different types of beer. You can also buy beer to take away at Au Brasseur. Au Brasseur is a fantastic restaurant with delicious beer, great food, and a pleasant atmosphere. Perfect for a cozy evening with friends or family. We absolutely recommend Au Brasseur!

We had Tarte flambe. There were too much onions for me, but it was tasty anyway. The waiter was very nice.

We had this wonderful popular Big beer platter which is €35 and they served 9 different types of beer & Large one will comes with 15glasses.But we like to enjoy the atmosphere of majestic grand place and wanted to have some magical Belgian beer.So please visit the place just round the corner at Grand place,Brussels. They accept cash and card as well so not to worry. If you asked them for a little snacks then you can expect salty roasted peanuts which is freeeeeee. Very prompt service with nice attitude towards the customer.

Yelp
Ate here one night for dinner and really enjoyed both the food and the atmosphere. It was a very lively crowd with almost all the tables full outside. Our waitress was very friendly and gave us good recommendations for food. We had a couple glasses of wine, two flammekueches and some meat with sauerkraut. It was all great. And to finish things off, we had some delicious creme brulee. The only drawback was that everyone was smoking, but I guess that's what you do in France. We'd totally come back.

Yelp
I was in search of Choucroute Garnie while in Alsace. Ended up here after first passing on a place (Le Gruber) very near the Cathedral then being turned away from a place (Winstub Mieselocker) that had been recommended. Very happy to have found it! Crowded with young people, but they found us a spot. Not sure what was going on, but the atmosphere was quite festive. Food (and beer) was excellent! And no doubt saved us a few eurobucks compared to the places we didn't go.

Yelp
What a wonderful place! This was directly around the corner from the AirBnB my party was staying at. We met a friend of my sister's--the two of them met while studying abroad and have traveled together--who is getting her master's here in Strasbourg, and she made a reservation here not even knowing it was close to us. The server was nice and the food was good. We split several things and everything tasted wonderful. I wasn't a huge fan of the Wales Fondue, which is kind of blasphemous to say, but it had too much cheese. It was cheddar and not the fondue I'm accustomed to in the States, but it was a good dish to split amongst a party of four like ours, or maybe even more. The flammkuchen was delicious, we absolutely loved those! The wine was regional and absolutely delicious and their own brewed beer was unique and wonderful as well. It was insanely busy the night we were there, so we still had to wait for our table, and unfortunately it was pouring rain outside so we didn't get to enjoy the patio, but we had a wonderful experience nonetheless.

Yelp
We were lucky enough to arrive during happy hour - 500 ml beers for the price of 250 ml beers & €3 flammekuchen. The beers & flammekuchen were great & so were the spaetzle & desserts we ordered. No wonder the place was so busy on a Monday night!!

Yelp
The second time we came in here and we love it! Good food, fast service, and the beer is fantastic! Five stars if the waiters would serve with a smile, but still a great place!

Yelp
Stopped in for bier while wandering around rainy Strasbourg. We lucked out in that it was happy hour! Didn't know they had one but half price bier is better than full price bier! Unfortunately they'd run out of brown bier so we went with amber. It was fantastic! And service was great this time. Au Brasseur has redeemed themselves; I'll return.

Yelp
Food was delicious and the service very good. The server was patient with us, gave us time to decide what to order and eventually provided an English menu.

Yelp
Relaxed, pub-like brasserie just by the river. We arrived just in time to take advantage of the 3 euro Tarte Flambe and ordered a couple as starters. Probably the best we had in Strasbourg! They have their own microbrewery on site and the amber beer we opted for was bloody good. Would probably be worth a trip here just for the beer. The mains were ok, nothing too fantastic, but hearty and good value. Ordered another flambee for dessert- this time with banana and literally flambeed, right at the table. It was delicious. I practically had to be rolled back to our apartment! Fun, relaxed atmosphere. Mostly because it was the younger crowd in at the same time us, making the most of the cheap flambees and happy hour. Good times.

Yelp
I'm not really sure why, after 17 reviews, this bar/restaurant only rates 2 stars. From the French reviews I read, it seems they went expecting a fancy or more intimate restaurant and instead ended up downstairs in the beer stained 'caveau' with the happy-hour student crowd. The year I lived in Strasbourg, this was one of my favourite places to hang out and enjoy a beer with friends. Les Brasseurs (also known as 'Aux Brasseurs' and 'Les Trois Brasseurs' depending on who you ask) is not very fancy. But if you're looking for excellent beer, mouthwatering tarte flambées, and an unpretentious, jovial atmosphere, you've come to the right place. Their tarte flambées, a sort of Alsace pizza, are the best in Strasbourg. I should know... I ate a LOT of tarte flambées when I lived there. Les Brasseurs is better value than its rival, Flam's, and looking around the place you can see why. They haven't spent any money on decor, but if you're able to ignore this your tastebuds will thank you. The beer is brewed on site, and they have happy-hour 2 for 1 specials (the 30cL or 50cL). They'll also do tarte flambées à volonté, where everyone can pay a set price and eat as much tarte flambée as they want. I've given Les Brasseurs 4 stars out of 5 based on their food, drink, and lively atmosphere. It's not great for a romantic evening, but for groups looking to enjoy themselves, it's perfect.

Yelp
After reading some other reviews, I can see how this place would be less than great when really busy. However, we went during happy hour on a Monday and it was pretty good. Be aware that: None of us checked the bathroom. There was no music (good or bad depending on your preferences) The tables outside in front were full when we arrived but we managed to snag one after sitting inside for 5 minutes. They were still not even at half capacity. Bad: Seating a little cramped. Smoker from table next to us blew smoke in our faces for the first 15min. Waiter accidentally brought one wrong beer to our table but caught his mistake immediately and corrected it quickly. Good: tarte flambée was good. Beers tasted great. Happy hour pricing was reasonable. Staff was nice and accommodating. Lots of great things to choose from on menu. Despite location downtown, very little traffic and traffic noise. Would happily return being careful to pick one of their least busy times.

Yelp
Fairly inexpensive for tarte flambée, with friendly staff and nice beer. The 'Welshs' are certainly an experience!

Leslie A.

Yelp
The happy hour is a great buy! Can't remember the exact prices, but I want to say it was under 10€ for a beer and a tarte flambée (or flammekueche in German). My beer is the amber, which I definitely recommend! Although, I have tasted each of the beers they brew there, and they're all good. If you're in Alsace, you have to try tarte flambée so I would definitely recommend this place to start. Definitely go to happy hour to take advantage of it!

Sabrina M.

Yelp
Really really bad! I never experienced such a bad and unfriendly service! They split - empty our wine by accident and they just walked off, did not say sorry! And we had to pay it!! Would really not recommend this place!!!!!

Laura S.

Yelp
Stopped by here for dinner as it was recommended to us from some friends. Nice place that has a college feel. Beers were great and we were lucky to hit this place during happy hour and got lots of food for very cheap. We came to have flammekuchen for the first time and I had a really positive experience. I would recommend if you're looking for a casual place.

Kelle F.

Yelp
The beer is decent, they have an amber, a white beer, a pilsner and a dark beer. It's a microbrewery essentially, and they make their own beer. The food is good and reasonably priced and they have lots of seating outside as well as plenty of tables inside. Last night I had the warm goat cheese salad, which consisted of an incredible amount of goat cheese on toasts, fresh lettuce and lots of tomatoes in a light olive oil dressing. We also got the tarte flambée with mushrooms (champignons). The total for our dinner of 2 tarte flambées, 1 goat cheese salad, and 3 X 50 cl of beer was 32 euros.

Yelp
I joined my girlfriend and two of her friends (all three are Strasbourg natives) here for some evening dinner on a cold January night. We made it in time for happy hour where we could get a 50cl beer for the price of a 25cl one. We ordered some glasses of the in-house beer and it was very easy to drink. We didn't stop at one! My girlfriend and I ordered the 3-cheese tartes flambées and they were indescribable. I'll never be able to eat a pizza again without thinking how superior the tarte flambée tasted. I loved the atmosphere in the bar (a little crowded but comfortable) and the service was second to none. Recommended!
