"This elegant restaurant is one of the many highlights of the Hotel Chamois d'Or, thanks to its classy, cocooned dining area decked out in wood, and its well-crafted up-to-the-minute cuisine. Inviting lunchtime terrace and a romantic vibe in the evenings." - Michelin Inspector

Chamois d'Or, Les Gets, French Alps - Explore & Book

"Stroll up to the stylish entrance of this 26-room boutique hotel, located plum on the main street of Les Gets, and you might think an ice-cool haven awaits within. But as soon as you step over the threshold into the quirkily decorated reception area, you're greeted by hugely friendly and informal staff who make the place unforgettably welcoming. Chamois d’Or does, in fact, feel more like a big shared chalet than a hotel. Mostly British guests – including honeymoon couples, groups of friends and families with teenage children –mingle and chat between the reception area, which doubles as a lounge, and the wood-clad residents' bar. The laid-back, relaxed culture stems from hands-on owner Peter, who hails from Plymouth but is based in Les Gets – and whose genuine pleasure seems to be for everyone to have a really fun time. As for Les Gets itself, this charming French village sits on the fringes of Portes du Soleil, a vast 650km of slopes. Skiing heaven in winter; cycling heaven in summer. Highs A refreshingly affordable option in the infamously expensive French Alps Cocktails in the bar – don’t miss the extremely potent Margaritas! Guests get reduced rates to access the basement spa, a charming offering with 2 treatment rooms, pool, Jacuzzi and sauna A good range of room types: romantic doubles, Triples/Quads and a self-catering Penthouse sleeping 8-10 Lows Staff tend to be seasonal and the service is enthusiastic rather than faultlessly professional, but that adds to its charm No onsite restaurant, but there are plenty of dining options nearby You need to book ahead for access to the spa Not all rooms look out onto the slopes; we had a view of the car park" - Belinda Archer

Au Chamois d'Or (Alpe-d'Huez, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"From the front door of Au Chamois d’Or, you can glide down to the nearby ski lift to access the longest black run in Europe — or in summer, simply walk across the street to catch a ride up to hiking trails, deep blue lakes, and hairpin roads featured in the Tour de France. And as impressive as the setting may be, this historic luxury hotel offers plenty more, including an excellent restaurant with terrace seating, a cozy fireplace bar, a relaxation area with a heated pool and sauna, and a Nuxe spa." - Tablet Hotels

We went here off season, so I was pleased with the price/service level. However, during winter the rooms are extremely expensive and I would not pay that amount for what you get. The Spa area is nice but also not incredible. Breakfast was really good and all staff were very friendly and professional all the time. If it were a 4 star hotel, I would give 5 stars. But as it's a 5 star, I don't feel the hotel is meeting all of the points, so that's why I'm giving only 4 stars.

Fantastic experience, very cozy rooms with amazing view. Good cosmetics in rooms. Affordable team who is ready to help at every moment. Availability of SPA is very big plus especially after sport day. Tasty breakfast with good cappuccino ❤️❤️❤️

Great food - high cuisine. Drinks a little pricey but the same everywhere in Alpe D'Huez. Staff very friendly, courteous and (though we tried our French) all spoke English well.||Spa and pool popular. Bedrooms cleaned morning and evening!||Individual ski lockers with codes.||Truly ski-in ski out. Great location.||We were well looked for the whole week. Thank you

The team at Au Chamois D’Or saved our holiday. Big thanks to Hugo and the team (including Valentine, who was patient with our initial requests) for their hospitality at the hotel. We ran into problems with our original accommodation (not with this hotel) and we found Au Chamois D’Or as our last resort. The team quickly sorted us out with a last minute booking at another of their partner residence (Daria-I Nor) which was a great fit for our group size. Tremendous hospitality and empathy displayed throughout our entire stay. I have nothing but great respect for the team. I highly recommend Les Étincelles for your next holiday. Thank you Hugo and team for recreating the spark in our holiday.

This is my first review I'm taking the time to do. I loved our room with the deck. I loved the design and style of the hotel. But I would call it a 4* and not a 5* hotel. There is usually a big difference in the details when you go from 4* to 5* and this was not 5* service I have come to expect when traveling in Europe. ||||Restaurant||Restaurant staff is just there to take your order, serve your food and try and keep up with cleaning the tables. This is a fault of management and training. ||1. Breakfast: Nothing special. Only eggs were in a silver tray for the breakfast buffet. No menu for made to order eggs, pancakes or french toast. Empty hot water pitchers on the breakfast buffet were empty. Fresh orange juice was nice but you had to do it yourself.||2. Dinner: We did the half board with our room. The food was good with some items that were great. The one night they actually gave us a wine menu, I said I would like to order a bottle of wine asked for a recommendation to go with the food we ordered. The server could only take are order and said they would send someone over. No one ever came and the wine menu sat at the table throughout dinner. ||3. Dinner: Another night they asked if we wanted coffee or tea after dinner. Tea sounded good. They charged 14€ for 2 cups of tea. At a 5* hotel hot water and a tea bag should be included with half board. ||4. Dinner: They allowed kids to run freely throughout the restaurant. These kids were not having dinner with the parents so not sure where they were supposed to be. But they coming running in and out of the restaurant and by our table the whole time. ||Room: They did not wash our glasses in our room!! They were barely rinsed in the sink. I put water in glass and noticed things in the water. We realized it was powder from the day before from the Emergence-C. They ran it under the sink (maybe) and put it back on the tray. The other glass I could still smell the beer. Unacceptable!! ||Front Desk: I came back from exploring town and was carrying a large heavy bag on my shoulder and a 12pk a beer and wine in my hands. I went to the elevator and hit the button. There were several pieces of luggage outside the elevator door. The woman at the front desk (I believe she was a manager) ran over and said I couldn't use the elevator. People were waiting for their luggage. That does not happen with 5* service. ||||This is a nice hotel but don't expect 5* service.

I was on a solo snowboard trip. Opted for half board. Food was amazing and so was the service. Location was excellent right by the slopes. Rooms are comfortable but a little bit on the smaller side. They are not super sound proof either so you might hear some noises from adjacent rooms. Spa area was nice but not super big. I would love to go back with my family and stay in one of the suites.

Everything was superb, maybe it is not as luxurious as other 5 star hotels, but the staff is pretty kind, the rooms are super clean, good spa, correct breakfast. Very close to the cable car that goes up to 3330 at Pic Blanc.

What a great Hotel! Very clean, lovely food, relaxing spa, warm comfortable lounge and very friendly staff, especially Laurine who was an absolute gem, so helpful and welcoming as soon as we walked through the door! Beautiful room though a little smaller than expected, though to be fair there was lots of storage space to ensure all your things were put away. Would definitely recommend this Hotel. :-)
