Au Chat Noir

Extremely rude waiters + Mediocre food - waiters were deliberately not taking our orders whilst taking other tables orders. (We were a different ethnicity to the other patrons in the restaurant, I can not say the word as google automatically filter it but everyone knows what they were) We asked politely if when he has time can we please order the dessert and he did not come back for 30 minutes. Even when we reminded him repeatedly when he came up to take other tables orders and have lengthy chats and take photos for the other tables. This was too much and we decided to just leave whilst still being hungry as the serving sizes were very small as well. We also were only able to order the entree and mains after being in the restaurant for 20 minutes as again no one took our orders. - Food was really mediocre despite being highly rated and on Michelin bib. We had the ox tail with foie gras and the lobster. It tasted like any random thing from any reasonable Australian bistro except this was double the price and took 1.5 hours from the time we ordered. Even without the racist servers it was not a well dining experience. Have not had dining experience anywhere like this in Switzerland. Very disappointed.

I cannot say enough about this restaurant. Everything is wonderful: the food, the wine, the waitstaff. My husband and I have always had a great time and enjoy everything.

This is in institution of Lausanne foodie scene and it took me almost two decade to push the door. Indeed, there were too many enthusiastic recommendation from friends and, very much like a movie you build too much anticipation for, I always feared to be disappointed. And then one night, unplanned, I went with my family and yes a high expectation. But I was blown away. First the service, transporting you to a Paris atmosphere, with great recommendations and anecdotes making you feel at ease. The menu, always in season, guaranteeing prime freshness and quality of produce. And of course the food… everything was wow… so much that I stopped taking picture after the first course as I was enjoying my time too much. Will I go back now? Yes definitely

Beautiful traditional bistro with friendly service excellent food. Very close to the Opera so you can combine. I had the egg with Mont d’Or cheese and it was amazing.

An institution in Lausanne. The walls are covered with celebrities having dined here. Great food and impressive wine list. Friendly staff.

Was a nice night, with great dishes all around. The panisse was something different I've never tried nor anyone in the table had heard of and it was amazing. They have a selection of local wine as well...had the Viognier which was one of my favourite white wines.

Who'd have thunk our first meal our recent 9-day trip to Switzerland and Lyon would be our best? It seemed a bit spendy at the time (and it was our most expensive meal), but it was absolutely delicious, high quality, well executed the whole way through, and accommodating of us showing up at 9pm. I had slow-cooked beef wrapped in the most delicate of cabbage (could you even call it cabbage?), drizzled with mashed potatoes and au jus around the edge. It was such an elegant take on a classic preparation. Devine. The wine pours were not generous, I'd recommend ordering a bottle. But overall this was AMAZING, and I wish we had it some time into our trip so we could reflect on just how uniquely impressive it was.

I went to the Chat Noir with some friends this evening, and had quite high expectations given the good reviews it had; unfortunately, I left the place disappointed. The restaurant was clean, the employees were really friendly, and the menu looked quite tasty. I ordered some veal with mushrooms, while my wife had lobster. The problem is, both of those were really, really too salty. I finished my meal one hour ago, and I can still only feel the salt in my mouth... If that was a regular restaurant, I might have given it three stars. But given the high price tag, I don't think it's worth more than two. I definitely won't be going there again.

The food is absolutely incredible. Olivia is a joy as a server. Great attitude, animated and fun. Also great for English translation if you're French is not good. This is probably my tenth time here and I've never been disappointed in the food or service. The Jambon starter and the veal chop main dish were perfection. Swiss prices are always a bit heavy but this place is well worth the cost.

Recommended by local business associates, this restaurant was wonderful from the amuse Bouche to the incredible dessert. Great wine, atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff for English speaking customers. Unique entrees and plates...you will be delighted to dine here.

Had the "plat du jour" today, which is always fish/seafood on a Friday. Today it was salmon, cooked to perfection on lentils in a light cream sauce, absolutely delicious. Le Chat Noir is a rather expensive restaurant, when you eat á la carte, but we only paid around 30 francs each and it included a glass of wine and coffee. Cheap for such an excellent restaurant

Had not been back in a while and what a nice surprise this was. From the revisited brasserie menu to the wine list, the experience was really good. This was lunch so service was harried but adequate.

We dined here many times during our 3 year expat in Lausanne. Charming atmosphere, great service, and excellent food. Really miss it !
