Au Coin Des Halles

My husband and I travel A LOT and love experiencing the local cuisine. This was, by far, one of our top experiences. The food was amazing…the halibut literally melted in my mouth. The flavors in the halibut and lamb dishes were out of this world. The starter Chef surprised us with, Parsnip Saffron soup, was so deliciously unique!! The deconstructed Tiramisu was the perfect finish. We highly recommend this restaurant. Quite frankly, this should be a Michelin starred restaurant.

What a wonderful experience, this is old French values meets beautifully prepared modern cuisine. Right from the smiling welcome we arrived, to the end EVERYTHING was superb.. the with which the food was prepared and served was like it should be, but sadly exits rarely these days.. Wine choice was good, served by the chef with flair and intimate knowledge of each one.. thanks guys, we will be back..

In one word: Sublime! Such friendly people and fantastic food!! My advice: EAT WHAT YOU NORMALLY WOULD NOT LIKE TO EAT!! They make it great!!

The interior is simple, but comfortable. The service is good (including the fact we don’t speak French!) Selection of local wines is impressive and fits every taste. The food is tasty (only ribs I ordered, although looking good, were a bit simple). The sparkling wine from Jacky Blot before dinner was excellent! Good value for money.

I have travelled the world extensively over 40 years. I ate at all restaurants ranging from pop & mom’s to Michelin three stars. This is my honest review of Au Coin des Halles. Conveniently located right across Chateau de Langeais,it offers decently priced food menu. The menu might lack a tiny bit of diversity (appetizer and desert shared many visual and cooking technique similarities eg) but quality is good to very good. A (free) public parking is nearby.

We were headed to Chateau de Langeais when we decided to stop for lunch first and Yelp pointed us to Au Coin Des Halles. Thank you Yelp!!! This was an amazing find. We opted for the lunch tasting menu. Yes, tasting menus take a while but we were enjoying it so much we didn't mind the 2 hour lunch break. Most of the servers spoke only French but one of the servers spoke English so she was able to answer our questions. We didn't care that we didn't understand the explanation of the dishes by the other servers. We just scarfed them down and they were so tasty. This was one of the best meals we had in France.

While touring the Loire Valley, our very sweet airbnb host (Jennifer at Les Bournais, Saint-Michel-sur-Loire) had recommended this restaurant in Langeais. We were not expecting this level of quality in both the cuisine (super fresh and inventive) and the service. This is definitely one of the best table in the region. And while in Langeais, you can also have a glimpse at the magnificent even if small castle of Langeais, as well as the very nice farmer's market, on Sundays if I remember correctly. We will come back.

Best meal in France! We have been eating at the Chateau's we have been staying at and decided to venture out. This place was fantastic! the appetizers, dinner and dessert were all delicious. Note there is no English menu so you'll have to use your google translator. We had an asparagus appetizer with avocado, tangerines that was out of this world! The salmon dinner was the best i have eaten. This is a local restaurant that does NOT require a jacket or tie, so just dress nice and leave the jacket and tie at home. If you are in the area you don't want to miss this place.
