"Southern California are lucky to have two options for Au Lac’s menu. The Fountain Valley spot opened in 1997, and DTLA since 2014. Chef Ito designed both menus where Vietnamese, Chinese, and Japanese dishes abound, with a few raw options to boot. Note: Au Lac DTLA is open for takeout only." - Mona Holmes

Au Lac is one of my favorite places for great vegan food and a relaxing atmosphere. This place offers both cooked and live raw vegan items on the menu. Even meat eaters like myself can enjoy vegan dishes with an open mind. Many dishes are also gluten-free. Food I've tried and enjoyed. • The Chicken Lemongrass has been my go-to, and I recommend it to anyone who still eats meat and wants to try something different but with a familiar taste and texture. • Yellow Noodles were a delicious bowl of light yet savory mushroom broth, fresh ingredients, a mix of vegan proteins, and thin noodles. • BBQ "Pork” Roll is a light starter with a tasty peanut sauce. • Salt & Peppered "Shrimp" - I enjoyed this, and the texture is close to an actual shrimp • The Paella is a pleasant and tasty surprise, with big slices of avocados and a blend of fresh ingredients. • Bun No.35 is a refreshing dish that fills you up without feeling heavy. Pour the soy fish sauce over the ingredients and mix well! • Curried Rice has a cool presentation, and the live food and fresh ingredients are delicious and filling. A few of my friends also enjoyed this dish. Elixirs, juices, teas, and smoothies can satisfy your taste buds and your body. Vegan desserts are also worth a try. Recently, they added vegan cakes! The staff and service are always friendly and attentive. We enjoyed our meal in the chill atmosphere with booth and table seating. Looking forward to returning and trying more!

Google
Delicious vegan Vietnamese food, friendly service, amazing teas. We had the beef Pho, tofu spring rolls, barbecue pork spring rolls, and ginger tea. Everything was exquisite. The spring rolls were wrapped in brown rice paper which I loved and had never seen before. Definitely will be a regular here from now on whenever I’m in town!

Every single time I come to OC, this is the place I really cannot miss at all. As a plant based person officially since 2009, this place has the most flavorful cuisine to inspire anyone to become plant based with a great inspirational flavorful “smile“. 😇🙏💕

Au Lac in Fountain Valley with a special mission in mind. Her experience in overcoming serious illness with a plant-based diet fueled her desire to promote healthy eating to her community. Driven by her passion for good food and good health, she put a plant-based twist on traditional Vietnamese cuisine.

The presentation of the dishes was truly remarkable. At first glance, I would not have guessed that they were all plant-based. The BBQ Pork Rolls, Bun Bo Hue, and broken rice were all exceptionally delicious. Our server was also very friendly and attentive. I will definitely be returning to this restaurant in the future.

Leftover not safe to eat. My husband and I ate at the Au Lac in LA several times. On 10/05 we tried this location for the first time. We ordered the large Curry Rice (our favorite) and Chow-fun. We noticed the Curry rice was wetter than the one in LA. The food was still good, We took the leftover Curry rice home and ate it for lunch the next day. A few hours later we both started to have stomach cramps. The cramps came and went, and lasted all night. Too bad this experience ruined it. We really liked the food there but not sure if we'll go back again.

Google
The food is always 10 stars. I've never had a dish here that wasn't phenomenal. I've had the yellow curry, fried rice, salads, nuggets, desserts, and a few other things and it has all been so good. They are the best at what they do, in my opinion. If I want to wow people, I take them here. The servers are very knowledgeable and nice, and the vibes are chill!

Yelp
Location: Minutes from the 405 Freeway. I made the pilgrimage to Au Lac in Fountain Valley, driven by a mix of curiosity, thirst, and, let's be honest, a need to feel fancy. And let me tell you, it delivered on all fronts. This isn't just a restaurant; it's a spiritual oasis where the coconuts come whole and the bags are strong enough to double as your emotional support system. Value: Specialty items abound here--things you didn't even know you needed in your life. The kind of place where ginger tea isn't just a drink; it's a warm hug from nature. The coconut water was served in its original outfit (a coconut, of course), and cracking into that thing felt like winning a tropical lottery. Oh, and the reusable bag? The superhero of bags. I put it through a water jug marathon later, and it didn't even break a sweat. A standard-setter, for sure. Staff: The team here is a delight. They welcomed me like I'd just flown in from their sister location in Los Angeles, calling me a "disciple." I felt like I should've been handing out business cards that read, "Au Lac Enthusiast." I did, however, leave regretting my lack of Vietnamese lessons. Duolingo, this is your moment. Venue: Wide, open, and downright majestic. This is the kind of space where you could host a wedding, a reunion, or a TED Talk titled, "The Art of Living Well and Eating Better." I snagged a seat at the bar top, which is perfect if you want to soak in the ambiance and pretend you're in a health-conscious James Bond film. Special Notes: The aroma here is like a warm invitation from the universe itself--subtle, and comforting. I felt like I was breathing in the essence of tranquility and good decisions. Overall: Au Lac Fountain Valley is like a little slice of paradise tucked off the 405. Whether you're here for the drinks, the vibes, or the reusable bags that could probably carry the weight of your emotional baggage, this place has you covered. Would I recommend it? Absolutely. Go for the coconut water, stay for the serenity, and leave with a bag that'll make you the envy of every grocery store aisle.

Yelp
I have eaten lunch here now a handful of times. Before everywhere else went vegan, Âu Ląc lead the way and made it yummy. We've tried their "Chicken" curry and "Shrimp" appetizer. The drinks. a double chocolate and a green drink. Last time I tried their chocolate dessert which was so good. My personal favorite is their Spring Rolls. Leaning towards trying their seaweed salad. Everything is so good. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Foood is pretty good, BUT. I highly rec' calling to check if they're having a corporate party of 30 or more. Unless you don't mind waiting for a LOOONG time to order & eat. I remember seeing a family leaving after sitting for 30 mins. It didn't really matter if you made a reservation, the service was not there and they were indefinitely, understaffed. The Eggrolls, shrimp & BBQ Pork Rolls were AMAZING. I think we were all surprised by their Salt & Pepper Shrimp. Shaken Beef Watercress was not what I was expecting, but it was pretty good, not bad. The Claypot fish was also not bad, it's more on the sweeter side.

Katie P.

Yelp
I wasn't sure what to expect from this place when I came in, but I was surprised at how well they brought out flavors from traditionally meat-based dishes. I was particularly fond of their egg rolls, spring rolls, and green papaya salad. However, their main dishes such as the royal noodle soup (bun bo hue) and the broken rice combo left me feeling a bit disappointed as they lacked flavor. Considering their dishes are entirely plant-based, I was quite impressed at their ability to recreate meat-like flavors and textures. There is plenty of parking and service is alright. The inside is clean and well-spaced. Their prices are a little more expensive than I would expect but I'd definitely go back to try more dishes from their appetizer menu!

Starr E.

Yelp
Absolutely loved Au Lac The food was incredibly & flavorful. I was blown away Every dish was a masterpiece - bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. The service was fantastic, and the atmosphere was cozy and inviting. A true gem.

Natalie D.

Yelp
I've never had a bad experience at Au Lac. All the servers are so friendly and attentive. They go above and beyond to answer any questions I have about the dishes. My consistently favorite dishes have been the BBQ pork rolls, salt and pepper shrimp (10/10), green papaya salad, BBH ("Royal Noodle Soup"), and clay pot fish. I do not adhere to a plant-based diet, but I absolutely crave this place often.

Rena S.

Yelp
I'm not vegan but I enjoyed the food here and would say it's a solid vegan restaurant. Food came out so fast and service was good. I wouldn't came back here for real meat-like flavors, but id come back for delicious vegan meals (if that makes sense). We got a bunch of foods listed in the pictures. The egg rolls and spring rolls were our favorite appetizers! Definitely recommend. I was most excited for the salt and pepper shrimp since I'm allergic to shellfish and it was the reason why I came here. Though they taste good and imitate the texture pretty well initially, I didnt think they nail "real" shrimp flavors overall like another place Ive tried. They were bigger than I thought though which was nice. Papaya salad was so refreshing! I also recommend it. Fish claypot flavor was delicious but would love to have more imitated fish meats. Chicken curry was delicious but didnt taste like chicken.

Lucy K.

Yelp
Âu Lạc is known for delicious plant-based creations with Vietnamese roots and fusion flavors. I went with a big group of friends and we were seated in a separate room. Everything was delicious. Everyone was raving about what they ordered. I tried a few different dishes and can't wait to go back! Some of the dishes ordered and pictured: Salt & Peppered Shrimp Green Pyramid BBQ Pork Rolls Eggplant Hot Pot Curried Rice Choconut Xtasy

Yelp
We have been to Au Lac probably 3/4 times now and each time better than the last. My partner and I bring all our non-vegan family here and they have the most incredible time as well. Food is outstanding and the staff makes you feel like you are part of the family with thoughtful suggestions and remembering us each time. We ALWAYS have the delicious thing on the menu even trying new things every time. The restaurant is cozy and we enjoy all of our time here. Cannot state enough how amazing this restaurant is and already looking forward to our next trip to Au Lac!

Tracy L.

Yelp
Got seated pretty quickly on a Saturday afternoon. It was pretty busy but they had a few tables open. I've been pescatarian recently for eczema triggering reasons and so I love that this place is vegan friendly. The egg rolls themselves were so filling! It was packed full and I love that you can eat it with the veggies too so each bite is filled with crunch from the veggies, crunch from the egg roll skin, and complimented by the soft goodness of the insides of the egg roll. The sauce with the egg rolls were also pretty good. The noodles were ok. I feel like there could be more flavor for the soup. Maybe some tofu in there. It just felt like it was missing something. The spring rolls that you get to hand roll yourself was where it was at! The tofu fish was so good! I love the pineapple sauce. It came with fresh veggies and the flavors mixed well together. They nailed the flavor and overall, I think I would come back to get this dish. I think it was a pretty good experience overall. The wait wasn't long to get in and it's a pretty cute restaurant and easy to grab a quick bite.

Yelp
Au Lac is our favorite vegetarian restaurant. The food is always delicious! The portions are generous and flavorful. The service is sweet and accommodating. Our family is large so we always book the private room. Au Lac is healthy and delicious - you cannot go wrong with any dish on the menu. Favorites: Fried Mushrooms, Grilled Fish, Com Tam, Mi Xiao (soft) and Bo Luc Lac.

Perlie P.

Yelp
My absolute favorite of all the vegan/ vegetarian places I have tried. Flavor and quality is spot on. Service is always friendly and pretty quick for the care they put into their food. I typically order the spring rolls, egg rolls and broken rice combo ( my go to when I was a meat eater). Everything tasted delicious and authentic. I love how the egg rolls come with lettuce and herbs ( the way they are traditionally served). Ambiance is clean and comfortable. Restrooms are always clean. I've tried many of the veggie places in little Saigon and while they are decent, I always come back to au lac because it is the best!

Yelp
Yum, vegan food! Came here for a birthday dinner for myself and my sister from another mister. When we walked in, I noticed the dining room had a lot of red. We were seated right away by the staff and there were probably 2 other parties seated already on a Wednesday night for dinner. We were a party of 4, 3 adults and one kid. I will say, I thought I'd leave hungry for In-N-Out after, but I was full after eating here. We tried the spring rolls, garden stir-fry, BBQ pork rolls, salt & peppered tofu, pineapple fried rice, and the scotch on the rocks dessert. I thought everything tasted great except for the scotch on the rocks dessert. The rice was so tasty to me, I ended up taking it home, but couldn't get over how flavorful it was. The tofu was also another favorite of mine that surprised me. It was crispy on the outside and spongy middle and it came with a dipping sauce that was flavorful. The BBQ pork rolls came with a peanut sauce and I thought these were ok. The spring rolls were bomb, I could eat those all day. Overall, if you have a friend that's vegan, this is definitely a great place to take them. I ordered the Madeleine Flax starter and we never got it, but out server acknowledged that and took it off the bill. It was a nice night trying something different.

Nathan N.

Yelp
A friend recommended this place before stopping by Mike Square Park to explore. We were seated immediately and I deferred to both Yelp and my friend to order. I really enjoyed the Salt and Pepper Shrimp. Separately, a woman at a Chinese restaurant told me that Vietnamese people love black pepper. I had no idea, but this salt and pepper shrimp confirmed for me that I do. We also had the Royal Noodle Soup, which I guess could be a translation of bún bò Huế. My friend said it could be spicier, which I agreed. A more traditional Vietnamese restaurant would have provided us some hot sauce on the side. The Egg Rolls were good, nice and crispy. I really enjoyed the Clay Pot Fish, which had eggplant. I was at first worried about ordering more plant-based/vegan food as I was mourning at the time, but I was pleased at the selection. This restaurant felt more modern than traditional. I imagine that vegans would go nuts for this place because Vietnamese food is always an excellent choice. Nếu ăn chay thì ăn ở đây được.

Yelp
So healthy and so tasty! Definitely encourage you to explore their living menu. The flax seed cracker and their raw fried rice were very interesting!

Hal T.

Yelp
Sleeper vegan restaurant in a random food court on the outskirts of Grand Ave DTLA action. Au Lac is so fresh, everything is delicious and extremely healthy. Guilt free eating out. Probably one of the only places you are genuinely bettered by the food. They craft their own imitation meats that are very convincing. Their juices and elixers are delicious. They also have a good lunch special. I love the atmosphere, staff is kind, attentive and friendly. Health food without all the annoying elitist propaganda. Personal favorites: tostada, lemongrass fish, curry rice (comes shaped like a heart!!!), shrimps

Mefa L.

Yelp
The service here was so friendly, making it an absolute go-to for vegan lovers! I highly recommend the imitation shrimp and fish--especially when you roll it into a spring roll. It was pretty delicious! There's a bit of room to boost the flavor, but overall, it's a fantastic spot for a satisfying, healthy meal.

Michele T.

Yelp
In search of a dinner spot and friend suggested Au Lac. Arrived at around 7pm - made reservations, although there were plenty of open tables. We were greeted promptly and brought to our table. Lots of menu items, which made it difficult to decide what to order. Our waitress provided recommendations, which were helpful. We checked in via the Yelp app and were brought a complimentary order to eggrolls, which arrived hot and crispy - YUM! We also ordered the Salt and Pepper Shrimp (another good one! Love!), the BBQ Pork Rolls (fresh and tasty), Claypot Fish (served with Forbidden rice and a salad - flavorful), and the Kelp Noodle Chow Mein (out of all the dishes, not my fave - not a whole lot of flavor, used some of the sauce from the claypot dish which helped). We also ordered teas to go with our meals. They are served in a pretty big pot, but we enjoyed them and finished both pots off. Too full to try any of the desserts. Enjoyable meal. I'd like to return to try other menu items.

Rihana A.

Yelp
We went in right before the afternoon closure on a Saturday. We were immediately sat. Service was quick. The Kung Pao "steak" made from soy was good. The sauce on the dish was a sweet. I expected more spice. I would not get that again. The shrimp was as delicious as ever. That was my main reason for going to this restaurant and they did not disappoint. I received the spring rolls free with the yelp check in. They were edible nothing special no real flavor. The ambiance of the restaurant was average some art work. The place appeared clean.

Loralyn N.

Yelp
Fantastic Viet vegan restaurant! There really haven't been too many Asian restaurants that I've found that were all vegan. I know one in LA, but if you don't want to commute, this is a great option. I ordered the bun bo hue and my bf ordered the curry chicken. I thought the broth was good, but I think I personally prefer vermicelli noodles in a broth like this compared to the thicker rice noodles they use. I also do feel like the meat needed a little more flavor, but I still enjoyed it. But the curry was actually my favorite. I wanted to steal my bf's plate. Otherwise, the staff was very attentive and I loved the atmosphere. It was actually quite busy, but luckily we didn't have to wait. Definitely try this place out!

Rahah H.

Yelp
Met a friend that is a vegetarian for dinner. I selected this place based on Yelp Reviews. We were very pleased to find it to be as others described. Courteous helpful staff, delicious food, and great atmosphere. My only complaint would be that it gets very loud to where I had difficulty talking across the table with my friend. The noise was just from dinners conversations. I highly recommend this place. Don't forget to check in for the free egg rolls

Raghu E.

Yelp
Nice place, and quality food. All we ordered right from starters egg rolls, dimsum and curry chicken and hotpot was really good. And end with vegan cake was gr8. Service was awesome. Coming back soon.

Rebecca V.

Yelp
This restaurant has amazing service comfortable seating, ambience and amazing food very healthy and so tasty. I don't know how they make all these beautiful flavors, but the menu is fantastic. I will travel from South Orange County just to have dinner there anytime! !!!

Lily T.

Yelp
Pretty good selection of Vietnamese vegan dishes. Fried egg rolls with "fish" sauce: deliciously crispy. My only rip is for the sauce. Wished they offered a wedge of lime and a Thai chili to enhance the sauce. "beef" spring rolls/nem nuong cuon: an order is small (1 roll cut up into 5 bite size pieces) but what it lacked in quantity redeemed itself in quality. Flavor was tasty. It comes with peanut sauce. Bun #35: this is their bun "thit" nuong. Flavorful & refreshing. It's a clean cold rice vermicilli noodle salad. They leave the "fish" sauce on the side and just before eating, you'd douse your bowl with the sauce before mixing. "beef steak" aka bo bit tet: the beef patty was OK. Not "bad" but the texture is weird. Flavor was fine and on the sweet side. I wouldnt order this item again.

Molly E.

Yelp
I went to Au Lac a handful of times a few years ago and it was so good to be back! All of the food was so tasty and the staff were really friendly. I ordered the chicken curry from the cooked menu and from the "living menu", had the curried rice, humanese soup, cream cheese flax appetizer, and the tofu spring rolls. I don't typically like spring rolls but these were absolutely incredible and one of my favorite things from the meal! I loved the glass noodles inside and the dipping sauce it came with. The flax "cream cheese" appetizer was very tasty but I wouldn't get this again and I also have no idea why this is the name lol. There is no cream cheese or paste substance. It's mostly a large chunk of avocado on top of a tasty cracker. For the entrées, we loved the chicken curry! It has Japanese sweet potatoes inside and all of the elements together were delicious. I had the curried rice before, which I love, and it tastes the same but thank goodness is larger than it was a few years ago. Now it can really be a meal! The raw Humanese soup was a favorite of mine in the past but it was very different this time. I don't even love the avocado and coconut that comes inside but I LOVED the garlic and onion broth it had. I didn't taste onion or garlic in the broth this time. The flavor was much more mild. Tasty, but not worth getting again in my opinion. My favorite were the tofu spring rolls and chicken curry, followed by the curry rice. There are also so many other dishes I would love to try. Such an incredible restaurant and menu!

Cindy T.

Yelp
UGHH - I am in love with this place. I love myself a good healthy meal but this place is PACKED with flavor. The ambiance is nice and elegant too. I came here several times with a large group and they always made it a good time. They take reservations too but plenty of tables for walk-ins! FAVE ITEMS: - Chicken lemongrass: amazing "chicken" bites packed with lemongrass flavor. A favorite amongst our group! - Curried rice: this was bomb. Avocado flavor with a subtle curry taste, and the blend of vegetables just paired so perfectly. - Green papaya salad: this was so nice and refreshing. Not sure how they made the fish sauce, but paired really well in this dish. SERVICE: pretty decent. They are not the fastest but also didn't stand out as too slow. PARKING: easy since it's located in a plaza with multiple stores. PRICE: pretty reasonable for what you get. For a group of 5 of us, it came out to be around $20 and left us all pretty full. Overall, I love this place for vegan food and I will continue to take all my friends here. So bomb!

Dang N.

Yelp
The Vietnamese vegan food here is really quite tasteful. I was really quite pleased. Invite my brother and family and we all really liked the flavors a lot. Would def come back. Give it a try! I know vegan Vietnamese food doesn't like it would work but this place really gets it.

Bijal P.

Yelp
Perfect end to a long day. My friend and I shared: Spring rolls to start - fresh, herbal and light start to the meal. Comes with a vegan peanut sauce that is sweet and creamy with a little bit of crunch from crushed peanuts Broken rice combo - loved the rice and "loaf". Similar textures to tofu and nice chew from the topping on the rice. Usually I don't like meat substitutes but I liked these Royal noodle soup - nice warming dish on a cold day. There's crunchy pieces (possibly the shrimp), tofu and lots of fresh greens. If you like a little more spice I think getting the other spicier options on the menu would be better Our server was Ann - she was sweet, attentive and very knowledgeable about the menu. A great way to try Vietnamese food as a vegetarian or vegan which is very unique.

Tammy N.

Yelp
This was my second time back in a week. Minh Anh was my waitress for the evening and she was so sweet & attentive. Food was delicious with so much flavor and freshness! Quiet calm relaxing vibe tonight after the dinner rush.

Peter N.

Yelp
Food: overall, the food is fresh, but can lack a little bit of flavor, typical in Vietnamese food. Service: is very professional, friendly, and polite. They clearly take pride in what they do. Ambiance: is nice and appropriate for business, meals or dates. There is plenty of parking in the lot. Value: is average.

Joyce G.

Yelp
I've eaten here a few times, and the menu is very creative, and the food is absolutely delicious! Whenever I know I'm going to be in that part of town, I make it a point to stop at this restaurant!

Elisa H.

Yelp
Wow! Wow! Wow! Lunch today was incredible! From the moment we walked in, this place was fantastic! We were warmly greeted by Emily and immediately seated at our table. It was difficult to choose as there were many interesting sounding items on the menu. Our server was very polite and informative answering our menu questions. For starters my hubby and I chose the green papaya salad to share. The salad was nicely seasoned with a light dressing that complimented the crunchy green papaya. The chopped peanuts also added a delightful crunch. Portion size was could have easily fed 4 people. I requested the Bun#35, which included Medley of vermicelli, sautéed beef, shredded tofu, cucumber, bean sprouts and pickled daikon and carrots. Topped with crushed peanuts and served with fish sauce. Was absolutely delicious and so very tasty. My hubby ordered the Grilled Seafood Noodles which consisted of yellow noodles with shrimp, chicken, bean curd, mushroom, steamed bean sprouts, lettuce and savory sauce. Served with side of mushroom broth. Based on his empty plate, he really enjoyed this choice. Be sure to save room for dessert! We shared the decadent tiraqmisu which is Inspired by the Italian dessert. Fluffed macadamia cheese, cinnamon, espresso, dark cacao and maple syrup, just perfect! Parking is easy in the lot out front. Can't wait to return !

Karen G.

Yelp
The quality has gone down. I had charred pieces in my food. When I showed the staff, they said it was pepper. It's not pepper. Even though I've been going there for years, I won't be returning.

Kathryn L.

Yelp
Went to Au Lac for a work lunch and it was very tasty! They were mildly busy but we still had great service and and the food came out very quickly. I got the curry which was so good, I've been craving it ever since going! They have the space for bigger groups or small groups dining in. Very welcoming environment and can't wait to go back to try more options!

Danica D.

Yelp
I have been here a few times throughout the years and absolutely loved it. Tonight I was incredibly disappointed. We spent a 30 minutes waiting for someone to take our order, and then after that we spent 30 minutes waiting for our food. I had flagged down multiple servers, and somehow they would find ways to serve other tables that came AFTER us. It was not particularly busy tonight either, the other half of the restaurant was empty. Spent a whole hour there, honestly we should have left after the first 30 minutes of waiting but I was trying to be understanding. I also asked the guy server tonight questions about the gluten free options since my partner has allergy to gluten. I don't want him to get sick on our one night out. The server said he double checked. We ordered the pork rolls and were told the peanut sauce has gluten in it, even though other times they said the peanut sauce does not have gluten. Either way, why would a designated gluten free option labeled GF have a dipping sauce with gluten come with it be default? It didn't make sense to me. The menu is inconsistent with their label of gluten free items. This seems like a lawsuit and a serious injury just waiting to happen. The staff is also inconsistent with telling us what items are absolutely gluten free or not. Regardless, if a dish has one component of gluten in it, it should not be labeled gluten free. Perhaps the restaurant is waiting for someone to go into anaphylactic shock and sue them before they update their menu. Also, when I asked the server questions about the gluten free options on the menu he seemed dismissive, then walked away and ignored our table for the rest of the night. I literally am not joking he passed our table head down. Another server came to our table after 30 minutes to take our order for our entrees and apologized on his behalf, she thanked us for our patience. When our food came out we were even more disappointed. We ordered a noodle dish that is supposed to come hot... it came out cold as if it had been sitting for a while. I'm so disappointed and saddened to see the quality of this restaurant, food and staff, go downhill.

Katy C.

Yelp
What I Ordered: Eggplant Noodle Soup - $14 * was not a fan of the soup Chicken Ro-Ti with Tomato Rice - $17 * tomato rice is moist * chicken had a strong cinnamon taste Beefless Stew - $14 * did not particularly stand out Royal Noodle Soup - $14 * favorite noodle soup ordered * most similar to original recipe * all soup broths were sweet * very unique and creative menu * everything is vegan/plant-based * proteins in each dish were very similar in texture as actual meat/seafood * servers were super friendly and service was quick 7/10

Yelp
My mom is vegetarian and I have a lot of vegetarian friends so I am used to eating all types of vegetarian food. Vegetarian Vietnamese food is by far one of my favorite options. The food here is decent. It's overpriced and the portions are not large but you can have a decent meal here. It's a safe choice. The food is not salty so I had to request Chilis and sauces to ramp up the taste. The service is okay. One minute they are super attentive (with asking us if we are ready to order) and the next, it'll be hard to flag them down. I'll chalk it up to the restaurant being understaffed. The place was quite full on a weekend which I was surprised by. Either way, service was polite despite not being as attentive as I'd like.

Ruby H.

Yelp
Came to dine in with a few friends and loved everything we ordered. I am planning to take my family here for Thanksgiving this year, so I asked the server if I needed to make reservation for it and they highly recommended to do so asap since they were usually booked up pretty early every year. So if you're planning to come in this year on Thanksgiving or any holiday, make sure to make your reservations early!!!

Ortencia A.

Yelp
Vegan heaven! Everything is nutritious and delicious. The menu is huge so it makes it difficult to order. You just have to keep coming back to try it all. My pictures are from various visits. The restaurant itself is a little dates and feels a little gloomy but the food makes up for it. The servers this last time were a bit impatient with my friend and I. It was her first time and she had questions. The servers seemed annoyed and were cold to us the whole time and only smiled and were nice when they saw what generous tippers we are, lol. Maybe they'll be nice next time cause I will definitely keep coming back.

Yelp
Came here for my friends bday lunch as she is a vegetarian. She raves about this place and I'm happy to say that this place did not disappoint. I had my reservations because Viet food is my comfort food and the food I grew up eating so I was a bit skeptical going into this. I got an order of com tam (my go-to meal if I had a last meal on earth) and tried the fried shrimp and used the Yelp check in for the egg rolls. To my surprise, I really enjoyed everything. The com tam was actual broken rice and the thit nuong resembled actual thit nuong as for flavor. For $17, it was about average price as a regular com tam at other Vietnamese spots. The fried shrimp was delicious and probably my fave out of the things I've tried. It had that salt and pepper seasoning when you go to other Chinese restaurants. The egg rolls were good too and the vegan fish sauce was bomb! I definitely like the vegan fish sauce over the regular fish sauce that I am used to. There is none of that fishy smell. Overall, a good place to get your vegan fix. I saw a variety of people dining here so it's good to see some other Asian people so you know it had to be a good spot haha.

Yelp
Just had the most amazing birthday dinner at Au Lac! It was my family's first time there and we will definitely be coming back. They make plant-based dining delightful and delicious. The dishes are not only healthy, they are works of art that taste as good as they look!!! And if that wasn't enough, the servers are extremely attentive, helpful and friendly. We even had the pleasure of meeting the owner who took the time to explain a lot of the different dishes as well as ingredients that were used to make them. And the prices are so reasonable for such fine cuisine, we highly recommend Au Lac as it is truly a dining adventure that everyone should experience!

Yelp
Just had an amazing experience celebrating a friends birthday and just had to write a review. Sean and Manh gave us the best service I'd ever had, they deserve raises for SURE. They were so patient, helpful, flexible, FUNNY, super attentive, and welcoming despite our party's tardiness. They made our celebration magical

Yelp
everything is plant-based and behind it is an awesome message of eating healthy. took our grandmother who eats vegan, and she loved it. interesting to me that a Viet restaurant in Little Saigon had only English-speaking employees lol. still a nice spot, but would not say it is my favorite place for authentic Viet food, even plant-based. also a bit on the pricier side. our food was pretty good, it definitely tasted fresh and made to order. my favorite was probably the egg rolls which we got for free with Yelp check in. things were a bit bland, so ask for chili oil and chili sauce if you need.

Yelp
I live right down the street from these guys, and it is really important you read or get the timely, daily schedule of Au Lac. They close around 3pm some days, and reopen are 5 pm the same day, and than close at 9:30pm. They are closed all day on Mondays. Anyway, I love these guys food too. I have been here a few times, and I love the eggrolls, Pho Noodle Beef soups and all. Food is always fresh and good. Owners and worekrs are cool too.

Yelp
au lac is a great vegetarian/vegan option that mainly serves vietnamese food. we ordered the salt & pepper tofu/mushroom, grilled fish and rice paper wraps, and the pho ap chao. the salt and pepper tofu/mushroom was great and light on the stomach. however the pho ap chao was not spectacular (tasted more like pad see ew for some reason) and the grilled fish was also not mindblowing. we also ordered the scotch on the rocks dessert and pandan cake. i'm sure it is great for a gluten free dessert but i think other dessert options might be better! the service here was outstanding though!

Yelp
One of my favorite vegan/vegetarian places. Some of my favorite dishes include their broth soups and their shrimp appetizer. I've taken plenty of friends here, and most people enjoy the food whether or not they are vegetarian. Service is always good. The restaurant is always busy, so you might want to make a reservation.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place!!! It's got a real special energy to it and very unique in both its location in the Fountain Valley area and the cuisine it offers. If you really are either into healthy plant based diet or vegetarian, check this place out! The owner Mai is really nice and sweet and takes great care of people around!

Yelp
Loved the steamed jicama rolls, grilled fish and cocoa desserts. Looking forward to trying this spot again.
