"Le Petit Nice is inextricably linked to the city of Marseille and to Gérald Passedat's personality. The heir to a family of artists, the chef was practically born in this restaurant just a stone’s throw from the Mediterranean “that carries and inspires (me)”. The Mediterranean Sea, its fish and shellfish are the backbone of his culinary identity, whose fascinating facets come to the fore in his “Ma Bouille Abaisse”, a signature dish among signature dishes. As you begin to eat, you will appreciate the subtle progression of intense flavours of this bouillabaisse that is both familiar yet complex. After kicking off with a superb rosette of raw fish in a clear stock, the feast continues with other fish escorted by a more distinctive saffron stock, to end with a grand finale of whole cooked fish in a big-boned soupe de roche. Depending on the season, over 65 types of fish are used in the kitchen fished by small boats with long lines in respect of the marine ecosystem, which is only fitting given the establishment’s fantastic seafront location." - Michelin Inspector
Le Petit Nice (Marseille, French Riviera / Provence) 10 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels
"There’s often a contrast drawn between the luxe escapes of the French Riviera and the edgy urbanity of the city of Marseille. But at Le Petit Nice, thanks to the hospitality of the well-known chef Gérald Passedat, Marseille displays its own vision of Mediterranean luxury. This is a family affair from the beginning, established by the Passedat family in 1917. But anyone looking to history to find Le Petit Nice’s golden age is looking in the wrong place — it’s as spectacular right now as it’s ever been." - Tablet Hotels
Decent bar in the busy Place Jean Jaurs not too far from Cours Julien.
Definitely the cheapest bar we came across in our two days in the city - previously found 500ml beer at €6 - €7 but it was €4 in this place.
Most seating is outdoor.

Very friendly and smiling staff. We had beer and Muscat wine which was great. Amazing location for drinks at a very local place in Marseilles, where the locals hang out. The park next to it had a market which was a bonus to walk around after few drinks.

Great neighborhood cafe to grab a coffee and an outdoor table and enjoy the street theatre of the Plaine.

Nice spot to stop for a drink.
Located on a terrace in a cute square. Good atmosphere in the evening. Waiters were attentive and prompt. Drinks were good and cheap(€6 for an aperol). Would recommend to anyone looking for a spot to stop with friends for a drink.

Great spot - excellent atmosphere, unbeatable prices, speedy service. The place was so busy on a Friday night and still somehow we got served faster than anywhere in Marseille. They take your order in just the first few minutes and bring you your drinks in the next 5! Incredible.
