We ended up in the Auberge Bressane by chance. We were on our way back to Paris from the Alps and decided to stop for lunch in Bourg en Bresse and have what is reputed to be the best chicken in the world, the Poulet de Bresse. We found what looked like a traditional restaurant through Google as we wanted the classic preparation, nothing too fancy. It turned out this restaurant was an ode to the famous chicken. There were ceramic statues of chickens everywhere. The location couldn’t have been better, right across the street from the Monastère de Brou and they gave us a table with a magnificent view. There were a number of different preparations of the poulet de bresse. We had the one with Morrell sauce. It was excellent. The meat was firm but moist. My wife ordered a glass of Chablis. It was good and very generously poured. I was driving so I passed. The service was extremely friendly and quick which made for a perfect stopover.
