Auberge d'Onex

"Since 1977, this inn has been nestled in verdant surroundings in the former clubhouse of Geneva's first golf course. It serves traditional Italian cuisine, including the chef's specialities of penne with vodka and penne alla Norma (a Sicilian dish that pays tribute to the composer Vincenzo Bellini, who was from the island), but also classics such as vitello tonnato. The dessert trolley features Italian specialities and a choice of fresh fruit." - Michelin Inspector

This hidden gem in Geneva transports you to an Italian vacation with its charming terrace. The shells with shrimp were a delight, perfectly cooked in a creamy sauce with tiny shrimp and mushrooms scattered throughout. The dessert tray offered an irresistible array of choices, making it hard to pick just one. An unforgettable dining experience! The staff were very welcoming.

It was truly disappointing. The restaurant’s reputation is high and we came upon suggestions from friends. It has a beautiful old garden, fragrant and cool, perfect for warm summer evening. The first warning that it is a not high end place came in the form of cheap plastic chairs and garden tables. Some of the starters were interesting but short of excellent and some were just plain. Eg. fennel salad was very finely cut but plainly spiced. We were still keeping spirits up waiting for the mains. We ordered “elephant ear”, the house specialty at the price of over 60 CHF. It was a greasy omelet like circle on the plate with the texture of process meat and a taste that generated no association (see picture). Our son ordered grilled chicken. It came burned (see picture). The sides came good ten minutes after the mains, after a reminder. At the end, we got marshmallows and some other candies (picture). Appalling. That they did not have several wines from their wine list, and that we never got the grappa that we ordered, don’t seem issues in the context of all other shortcomings.

Tutto magnifico, perfetto! Very nice interior, excellent service and a long menu with so many pasta options but also meat and fish. Great wine list and amazing dessert tray. You must be hungry to come here and enjoy to the fullest as the portions are big! Grazie e a presto

The atmosphere at the restaurant is absolutely amazing, creating a perfect setting for a memorable dining experience. The food is a must-try, with each dish impressing in both flavor and presentation. From the moment I walked in, everything exceeded my expectations. The owner is not only friendly but also incredibly generous, making guests feel genuinely welcomed. The staff is attentive and professional, ensuring that every aspect of the meal runs smoothly. Whether you're here for the ambiance, the food, or the service, this place truly delivers on all fronts.

One of the amazing memories ever. Since 2017 but now I was really chocked of having the low quality of food. I totally understand but must be more honest with all. And I did asked them to rated them the real. What we did got. Haven’t completed our food in all dishes except the polo platter. All the rest after my loyal scoring calculations must provide them this kind of rating. I wish them to get back k on track and swift response of what did use to heave from them.

Our table was in a Beautiful sunlit section of the restaurant. ‏Highly recommended as the food was beautifully cooked with amazing tastes If I could leave ten stars I would. This was by far one of my favorite meals i tried in Geneva. ( A+ service ) The service was impeccable, really great attention by the staff. Our orders: Calamari 10/10 Bresaola10/10 YUMMY. Spaghetti alla Carbonara (Meh)5/10 Ravioli Burro e Salvia ( Meh) 2/10 Spaghetti bolognese (Lovelovelove) Sea bass (Lovelovelove) Rognone di vitello (Decent) And we also had so many dishes for the desert but i cant remember the names.. funny old so yummy I recommend you to try one slice from each. It really worth it. I would like to thank Mr. Valentino (owner) for his kindness, he was funny and friendly, he levels up the vibe with his funny jokes. Recommended.. 8/10.

Super super super environment tasty food and generous portions food overall was very delicious everything we ordered finished the sweets is served on a tray and you choose what you like after that we where offered different kinds of fruits. The best part of this restaurant is Mr. Valentino he is very friendly moving from one table to another chatting and making you feel very welcomed in the restaurant and he keeps on bringing special sweets that he feeds you his self defiantly will take the opportunity to come back again with friends and family.

Auberge d'Onex offers an understated elegance that suits its tranquil garden setting. The fried zucchini flower was a delightful start, light and crisp, setting the tone for a well-curated meal. The piccata di vitello al limone was tender with just the right amount of lemon zest, while the veal Milanese was perfectly executed, crisp on the outside and succulent within. The pink pasta was a simple yet refined touch, balancing the meal beautifully. The dessert cart was a highlight, bringing out the kid in me with its spread of tempting choices. Auberge d'Onex is ideal for those who appreciate a classic, refined dining experience in a setting that feels effortlessly comfortable.

Yelp
Out of all the Michelin star restaurants I've tried in Switzerland, Auberge d'Onex is by far one of my favorites! When you first arrive there is a beautiful lit entrance way that makes you feel like you're part of a fairytale story. Once inside the restaurant, you immediately get a sense of a homely feeling. I came with a group of 6 and we were seated at a rectangular table. Luckily one of our companions spoke and read Italian and helped us translate the menu (which is only offered in Italian). We ordered a variety of appetizers and entrees which were all superb. I tried the Americana pasta dish, octopus salad, antipasto, fish, etc etc. all delicious! I think the best part was the never ending desserts.. The waiters come around with a cart and you choose which dessert you want off the cart. I got the candied pear. Some people got the tiramisu (which was a bit soggy that day). They also serve you fruits. I mean BOWLS of fruits. Whatever is available they just give you the whole bowl and you take as much as you want. We had grapes, lychee, oranges, etc. after you finish that they come and give you BOWLS and JARS of candy. They just dump it right on your table. The waiter was kind enough to give us take away bags so we could save some candy for later. During the whole 3 hour meal, the big Chef himself, Chef Valentino, would come around and greet his guests. He came out about 3x which was cool! He interacts and jokes around with you which made the whole experience excellent. Come with a fun group! I highly recommend this restaurant. Notes: -there's wifi -make reservations -say hi to Valentino the chef! -come hungry and share your dishes

Yelp
This is absolutely the best fun Italian restaurant to go to with a group of friends. They make you feel like home. I havebeen to a few Italian restaurants in Geneva Switzerland and by far this one is the best. The fresh fruit at the end of the meal is delicious. The fruit is from the owners garden. The sauces and flavors are exquisite.

Yelp
I wouldn't change anything about this restaurant. We had an amazing time, the service was fantastic, the quality and portions were legendary. Of course with such high standards, you can't expect a small bill but remember Switzerland is expensive (but well worth it).

Yelp
I came here as part of a Patek Philippe event and this was our last dinner in Geneva. 1This restaurant was the most amazing Italian restaurants I've ever been to. The service is impeccable and you won't be able to experience anything like this elsewhere. Words and pictures and so hard to describe how amazing ths restaurant is. You just have to experience for yourself if you are ever in the area. Food never stops coming and you will be wowed during ever serving. The anti pasta selection was just s so Good that I got full from it. The pasta dishes were served in a tiny portion since we already got filled up by then. The selection of fruit was even more impressive than at any market. I had raw almonds, loquat, mangosteen or lychee, guava, strawberries, cherries, kumquat, and so much more. Please see my pictures! The dessert cart had every delicious dessert that you would need. And there is candy served at the ens. Overall, amazing experience! I would definitely return!

Yelp
A reason to go back to Geneva.Excellent food, and service. You must be very hungry, because Valentino and his crew, very likeable, all of them, won't take 'no,thank you,i am full' for an answer. Had an embarrasing experience with credit card/cash situation, but to my relief, all i had to give was my hotel's name and room number.

Yelp
Italian food in a quaint setting with beautiful flowers. Quite the food show, a lot going on around you. The older waiters are OG here! Alot of passing food from table to table. (Olives, cheese, tomatoes, jars of sweets) That dessert cart tho with over 10 selections rolling around! The elephant ear tasted so good with my gnocchi & gorgonzola. The balsamic vinegar with mozzarella was soooo tasty! The owner/chef Valentino with his crazy shirts is always such a pleasure to see. This is a baller restaurant so prepare to pay up sucker! If you're on a date, make sure they put out before the date..foreals

Yelp
My friends in Geneva just took me to what they describe as "the best Italian restaurant in Geneva". Great it was indeed, clearly comparable to some of my best Italian food experiences in Italy. The Auberge is run by Valentino Rusconi who is the "anima e cuore" of the place, greeting most people on a first name basis, but he does spend his morning shopping for the best food on the markets(so I am told). This is an excellent trattoria with great atmosphere, delicious food arrives at your table, swiftly displayed by super efficient white-jacketed Italian waiters. The cotoletta is a speciality (huge and super thin). A must try in Geneva. Make sure you are hungry...

Yelp
this is a fantastic Italian place... when you arrive on they serve you with baskets of olives and tomatoes... chopping boards of cheese.. the food is great. when you leave they serve you with pots (glass jars about 30cm tall) of sweats (candy for the Americans) p.s. Bring Cash, i had a bad experience because the closest bank is about a 10 minute drive.
