Auberge de Cassagne & Spa

"This old Provençal bastide on the outskirts of Avignon upholds the traditions of Gallic bourgeois establishments devoted to good food. Noble produce and classical recipes are the name of the game, albeit with the occasional more modern creation, such as tataki of house smoked salmon on a pannacotta of green vegetables. Southern Côte du Rhône wines take pride of place in the cellar. Lovely terrace in fine weather and polished service." - Michelin Inspector

Absolutely unbelievably overpriced hotel, which also charged extra for a "upgrade" of the room, which was appalling. Old and poorly maintained hotel in a place where there is really nothing around! On a two-week trip around France, we did not experience anything so terrifying. In addition to the completely inadequate price of the hotel, also an overpriced restaurant. SPA ridiculously small and inadequate, definitely completely different from what was communicated on Booking.com. The hotel is at a three-star level, including the attitude of the staff: out of two requests, one was met late, the other not at all... One of the worst hotel experiences in my life. Booking.com should check more carefully what information about hotels it communicates!

Came here for Christmas, very nice facilities, particularly the spa. We purchased two bedrooms and one with two beds with Christmas dinner included. But during our stay, we had two problems: 1.We asked multiple times to confirm that we needed a room with two beds an we were never told that they don’t offer rooms with two queen beds or equivalent, instead many of their rooms have one large bed that can be separated into two twin. So my wife and I found ourselves sleeping in a twin bed at a 5 star hotel. 2. The food at the restaurant was great but the service wasn’t on par with the 5star hotel / Michelin restaurant. The waiter told us that the appetizer champagne was included but they charged us $25 a glass, everyone at the table understood the same thing (3 of them are French) so it wasn’t a misunderstanding. Then the waiter spilled champagne on my grandmother when refilling the water. Finally, some of the waiters seemed in a hurry to explain the menu, lacking the patience you would expect when paying for this kind of prestation.

We stayed at this beautiful property for two nights. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Spa facility was nice, open till 1 am each day. I was able to enjoy the indoor pool and hot tube at 10 PM with my teenage son after a day at Avignon. Hotel room was very nice with high ceiling and very effective air conditioner. I even got a beautiful rose in my room! Hotel breakfast was very good too with high quality local food and a fresh orange juice machine. I would recommend this place.

We returned to Auberge de Cassagne for a third time and as always it did not disappoint.||We stayed in Room 34 which had a huge king size bed, loads of wardrobe space, safe, dressing table, fridge, table and chairs and outdoor terrace. The bathroom was huge with a heated towel rail, walk in shower and corner bath and his and hers sinks.||Nice pool area too with plenty of loungers. Breakfast is a buffet where you can eat inside or our. Special mention to Marie-Jo who took great care of us.||A superb hotel which we would highly recommend.

It’s a great hotel if you’re driving to Avignon. Good sizes of rooms. Great food. Free parking. I would stay here again if I come next, away from crowds. Good value for 5star hotels.

Exquisite! Stayed here for two nights in the presidential number 68 with my mom we had the most wonderful time. We also got 80 minute massages and Chantal was a dream! The absolute best massage I have ever had. If you stay here I highly recommend booking a massages and requesting her.

The good: |Well-appointed, maintained upscale property.||Excellent service from staff.||The owner visits every table at dinner, soliciting feedback.||Disappointments: |When one envisions a boutique resort and spa outside of Avignon, it is surrounded by vineyards and lilac fields; instead, it is in the middle of high-density working class homes, high-rise government apartments, next to a school. There are no restaurants or retail establishments nearby, which we felt save visiting.||Management aggressively pushes dinner at the restaurant, making repeated phone calls every day to request reservations. ||Dinner staff does not meet the expectations of a Michelin restaurant. Maitre de fawned over 2 tables of regular guests, rest are served by breakfast staff, who are unable to make proper wine recommendations, took meals away from us after pouring sauce, immediately served to next table. By far the most disappointing meal so far of our trip.

Very nice tranquil property. Front desk crew was helpful and accommodating. The room was nice but we had a few issues. The writing desk had no lamp or electrical outlets. The shower area was nice (a door would be helpful). The high step-in tub/shower has no grab bars, which would be nice for those of us with mobility issues; we did finally find a shower mat. Inconsistent hot water in the tub and sink. In my opinion, this 5 star could use some three star amenities. Also, no nearby restaurants

Yelp
It's a good place but I wouldn't call it a 5 star hotel by any stretch of the imagination. The food is really good (at a 5 star price for sure) but the property itself looks pretty rugged. Definately needs a face lift. The service is really good though and that matters a lot. Just hire a landscaper please and replace the super old pool.

Yelp
Comfortable, quiet and peaceful hotel with terrific Cuisine We spent three nights here in September. We enjoyed it a lot and would definitely go back. Don't be put off by the approach to the hotel (they seem to be touchy about not calling it an "auberge" even though that is in its name). The suburban neighborhood surrounds the hotel and it's hard to imagine what it will be like inside as you pull into a small driveway with an unassuming entrance where the signage is a bit downscale. But once you are inside, it's another story. You can get a room in the main house or a room in the cottages. We stayed in the cottages and are glad we did - they are more private, and have a patio to sit outside and read and have a drink. They are also a bit bigger. We had a small suite. There was even an espresso machine in the room. The bathrooms are excellent and modern and spacious. The linens are high quality and feel good to the touch. Some of the rooms have a Provençal theme - ask for one of those if you want that. The staff is terrific. They are very friendly and service-oriented. They will help you plan your day if you ask. They are multi lingual. They will attend to special requests or needs. The restaurant is outstanding and is the highlight of the experience. The chef is an artist. I think his name is Mr. Boucher. We took the gastronomic package for two of the nights and are glad we did. It is first class cuisine and service in a beautiful dining room that is comfortable and warm, but elegant. The staff here were plentiful in number and very obliging and attentive. The chef prepares excellent modern cuisine, and the choices are limited - which we liked since they were great choices and the chef puts a lot into each course. Between courses they offer a cheese tray with thirty five cheeses, many local ones. It's all part of a prix-fixe which is decently priced for the level of the cuisine. The spa is not much to get excited about, especially if you've been to nice spas. It feels very dated and worn around the edges. They say they will be doing some renovations soon. Until then, you'll have an indoor pool and a jacuzzi, some dim lights and a shower with a fancy name (chromotherapy) that weirdly changes colors and irritatingly shuts off every 20 seconds. And there is no relaxation room, or tea served, or soft music. The outdoor pool area is very nice, though the season is short. The grounds are pleasant and well-planted. The nice thing about this place is that it is family-owned, not a corporate venue. Actually there are three couples who own it and they all seem to work there including the chef. So you won't have the feeling of a high-powered spa hotel, but more of a personal and intimate experience that feels very authentic.

Yelp
Nice enough small hotel outside the city of Avignon ( approx 15 minute taxi - 23 euros) that takes a five star rating from a French authority. I think in some areas the hotel excels. For example the chef/owner provides a first rate dining experience and outstanding wine selection that is seriously marred by an indifferent and condescending head maitre'd. The other owner made the rounds making sure each guest is spoken to and fielded questions. She was in fact, very nice, professional and accommodating reflecting over 25 years of experience. The spotlessly clean rooms have been renovated and run the gamut of small to quite large. Our pretty room had a small balcony, comfortable bed, and basic amenities. The staff ran hot and cold but Covid has clearly had its impact on securing professional "5" star staff. The reports received on the spa - not so good, but we only used the massage services. Two pools including one indoor at the spa and one outdoor are quite nice and well maintained. Respectable 4 star - definitely. Five stars - not so much and I think some might even argue for a heavy three star but I think that would be unfair. Covid has wreaked havoc on the hospitality industry through the world and this well recognized small hotel is well on its way to getting back to "normal."

Yelp
4 stars Hotel. +: Spa, restaurant, swimpool -: small swimpool, quality of service, high prices Personel should be older, more experienced and better coached. Prices are high even more than you would imagine

Yelp
We spent 5 nights there. Room was great. Staff were really nice, really good, really helpful. Breakfasts were OK. Dinners were splendid. Really convenient location, just outside of Avignon, much much better than staying in Avignon itself. We would have no hesitation staying there again.
