"Idyllically located for anyone touring the châteaux of the Loire, this inn, firmly in the zeitgeist, is run by an enterprising couple who work together in a bucolic setting of forests and meadows. The original 18C farmhouse has been replaced by a modern building, which reflects the chef's culinary ethos that favours local produce (girolle mushrooms, regional veggies, honey, Racan pigeon, Touraine pork, etc.), but also his homeland, Brittany, illustrated by a wafer-thin tart of spider crab covered in a warm mayonnaise flavoured with sea urchin roe. Each legible dish is a masterclass of exquisite plating and crisp forthright flavours." - Michelin Inspector

A very clean, comfortable, modern hotel which is well located for the eastern chateaux of the Loire. For those wanting a building with character this may not suit. All staff were friendly and helpful. We ate dinner in the bistro which had a good and varied menu. Breakfast was exceptional with a great range of choice to suit all tastes. Many thanks for an enjoyable stay.

Our stay at the Auberge was excellent from start to finish. We stayed for 3 nights on our way from Calais to Bergerac for a post Christmas break and to see the Loire en route. ||Sadly a tunnel delay had us arriving 4 hours later than planned and missing dinner on the first night. We emailed ahead to advise of our late arrival and Max in Reception and the bistro team could not have helped us more. They offered to have a meal ready for us on arrival if we chose our selections enroute or cheese and charcuterie if that suited better, which it did. A quick checkin to our beautiful room at 930pm had us eating and enjoying a beer by 10pm ! Faultless !||We ate breakfast and dinner for the rest of our stay in the main bistro restaurant and all meals were excellent. It was fabulous to see people of all ages from small children upwards enjoying time, conversation and great food together in this lovely bistro ! ||Our room was quiet, comfortable and very well equipped for our 3 day stay with a tea and coffee station if required. Although we were road facing, the modern soundproofed windows and fact that it was a quiet road meant a great nights sleep in the very comfortable bed each night. No noise between rooms despite the hotel being busy.||The Auberge was very well placed for trips to several chateaux, wine tastings in Vouvray and visits to Blois and Tours. Walks and cycle hire / riding locally also available.||A special mention to Max and all at Reception, Fred and Thomas and everyone in the bistro for your fantastic service and help. Also a thank you to all the chefs, kitchen staff housekeepers and maintenance people who keep the auberge spotless and running ! We hope to see you all again in 2025.|Kindest regards. ||Sarah and Charlie Callan

I felt like I was entering an operating room the lights were blinding. Not conducive to fine dining and the prices. The courses came out way too quickly for us. We like to enjoy every bite. The cheese trolley was next to our table. Honestly the strong smell was off putting. The apprentice, Martine, although the was cute and charming, took my plate away while I was still enjoying my first course. |My entree was the turbot, a beautiful presentation but tasteless. My tablemates all got the duck. It was good but I’ve never seen duck in a rectangle. Very odd. The amuse bouche was too big - not for small eaters. The slices of bread were at least 1-1/2” thick - not pretty. The desserts were average then we were presented with a tray of sweets that were much better. Not a place we would return. Fine dining prices - not fine dining.

My wife and I recently spent two delightful nights at the Auberge de la Caillère hotel in France. The rooms were incredibly comfortable and impeccably clean, making our stay very pleasant. The hotel’s location is full of charm, nestled within a quaint French village that truly adds to the region’s allure.||||This hotel is an excellent base for exploring the nearby chateaus, and having a rental car made it easy to move around, despite the village’s slightly remote setting. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this charming hotel for anyone looking to experience the beauty and tranquility of the French countryside
