Auberge de la Marine

"In a small regional-style building near the docks, this young couple beautifully showcases local ingredients. Example dishes include pressed sea bass with sand carrots, chervil sorbet; fillet of hake, beurre blanc with sea aster, mashed sandy potatoes; baba with a citrus syrup, cream with lemon balm… Tasty and expertly executed cuisine!" - Michelin Inspector

Just visited to eat, didn't stay. Restaurant is incredible. Amazing food presented beautifully. Rabbit croquettes, sea bass tartare starters, (stunning), pork belly mains (meltingly delicious) and coffee financier desserts. All supplemented with amuse bouche. Truly memorable evening with excellent friendly service, great wines. Hope to return.

We stayed here a single night and had dinner in the restaurant. ||||On a 2 week driving tour of France (albeit with 7 nights in a gite) this was by far the best hotel.||||The room was modern, fresh and wonderfully quirky in its shape. Despite being at the front of the hotel we had a restful night's sleep and an excellent breakfast in the morning. The only downside to the hotel is the lack of dedicated parking and need to pay for roadside parking. But even on a hot and busy Sunday afternoon we had no trouble finding a spot close to the hotel.||||Wi-fi is free but was not overly strong in our room.||||The restaurant is wonderful. Clearly the kitchen/chef takes great pride in sourcing its produce and the waiting staff are well versed in describing the details of each dish. From the amuse bouche to the dessert we were delighted with a range of tastes and skill in presentation. My lightly grilled oysters with 'sea foam' were wonderful, my wife's soft boiled egg (sounds dull, but it wasn't) also very good. Main courses were inventive (not all of it worked, but I can forgive that; the pickled cabbage was not the best accompaniment to my fish and the sauce with my wife's plaice was perhaps too strong tasting for such a lightly flavoured fish, but the sauce was supplied separately, so could be adjusted in quantity).||||Service was attentive yet unobtrusive and very professional.||||You have to try this restaurant (and stay at the hotel to avoid any need to either drive or even walk too far afterwards).

Wonderful restaurant. Incredible food, a culinary experience worthy of a Michelin star.

We highly recommend the restaurant at the Auberge de la Marine, but the hotel itself has really very small rooms. The hotel is on a corner, between 2 roads a short walk from the harbour and is modern and clean. Our room just had room for a small double bed, then there was a tiny shower room off it. The road was a bit noisy so the window could not be left open at night, with the result that the room was very overheated during the night! It is owned by a nice, friendly couple and breakfast and dinner were good.

The Auberge de la Marine is a small hotel that is clean and comfortable. The breakfast is very good. We didn't use the restaurant as the menu did not meet our needs this time. If we have been there longer we would have tried it.||The smallish room was fine. Bin collection is a bit of a nightmare at 04.00.||WiFi is a number for one machine so ask for more.

Planned to go for a meal as we were staying in le crotoy in holiday-let self catering. We did need to book and so glad we did, we were not disappointed. Meal and wine were truly delish although a tad expensive - but we found that all of le crotoy was, the service was good and they spoke perfect English which helped because there was a lot to choose from on the menu.

This was our second stay here, en route from the tunnel to the Lyon area.. The restaurant meal, (fish), was memorable! Le Crotoy is a lovely little fishing village, full of little fish restaurants. The hotel room was fine, spotlessly clean and comfortable. We will return, next time for a two night stay so that we can explore the area a little. The staff are great!

The rating is well deserved, but beware, it is not a family friendly place. Old poch Frenchmen eat out there. Also, it was funny to see how the waitress rushed to check whether we left money at the table as we set out to leave.
