"Located in the heart of a medieval village, this stone property with its corner tower and spiral staircase, is teeming with charm, and it is here that Renaud Darmanin has transformed this former café into a gastronomic outpost. Following his studies at the Chamalières hotel school, Darmanin went on to hone his skills at some of the world’s leading restaurants: at Paul Bocuse in Lyon; with Frédéric Anton at Le Pré Catelan in Paris; and at Le Parc des Eaux Vives in Geneva. He only works with the finest fresh and local ingredients (chestnuts, in particular), creating delicious, accomplished cuisine that skilfully combines the localterroirwith spices from around the world." - Michelin Inspector

Restaurant is quite large with two indoor spaces and one large outdoor space. Our daughter got a mozzarella pizza and liked it. Our favorites from our orders were the pistou soup and beef stew (it was less a soup and more of a braised meat with sauce). Staff was kind and attentive.

Auberge De La Tour is a very nice place to visit. From what I understand, it is both a hotel and restaurant. I only visited the restaurant and I had a very nice meal there. The staff was friendly and their menu was quite affordable, with a nice selection of dishes. If you like sweet desserts, u would recommend the profiterole. It was a bit too sweet for me, but still quite tasty 👌

It looks very appealing from the outside, and the staff is friendly. That being said, if you enjoy taking your time when dining out, do not go to this restaurant. Once you're inside, you're a number, and they want your table to be available for the next customers ASAP. Within the first 5 minutes that we sat down on our chairs, several waiters had already come by to ask if we'd made any choice yet. When we ordered, the food arrived so quickly, that you'd almost assume it's pre-made. After main course, we asked for the dessert menu, and once again waiters had come by at least 2 times in under 3 minutes to ask if we had decided yet. Within 50 minutes we were outside again. It looks like a nice restaurant, but it left a feeling as if it were a fast-food restaurant.

Quaint location, main attraction seems to be their restaurant. We stayed at the hotel but found out in the evening that they were fully booked for dinner so we ate elsewhere. The reception should have advised if dinner was available at the time of our check-in so we could have planned where to eat just like they asked if we wanted breakfast in the morning. A little more attention was expected as we were hotel guests. However we did find an alternative place to eat in another garden. The hotel room was simple but acceptable, it had that French provincial charm and decadent savour that you often find in the Provence area. There is a nice church next door so expect wakeup bells! The breakfast was very good although we seemed to have missed the fresh croissants but had warm baguettes. We parked our car in a free parking area at about 300 mt from the hotel. Mondays seem to be closing day for most activities in the town.

We stayed in the local area of Aups for nine days, two of which were at Auberge De La Tour. The hotel is very central with a good standard of comfortable accommodation. The breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice. We had food in the restaurant on two evenings during our trip. The restaurant surroundings were fantastic; with professional staff and excellent food. We would recommend the restaurant and would stay there again.

Yelp
this restaurant is as pinterest worthy as it gets. They have a beautiful stone wall, covered with roses and a fountain. Reminded me of Italy. L and I came here when the market was exceptionally crowded on a saturday and we didnt get place to sit at the cafe. The wait staff only speaks french, but they work with you and tried their best to understand my terrible rendering of the language. We had three bottles of wine there- yes we were very tipsy at the end (at least I was) but they were charming and helpful to the end. I got a dessert as well, an egg white delight floating in syrup which came in a martini glass. All kinds of awesome. The bathrooms are clean and well maintained as well. I would definitely come back.

Yelp
Set in a typical Provençal village, with its own authentically sleepy charm (at least on the Sunday we visited, when almost everything was closed). Fortunately, during our exploration, we chanced upon this pretty hotel with its sheltered terrace restaurant. We enjoyed the village and people-watching as we sat and savoured our leisurely lunch. I started with a local drink which might sound strange: violet-scented local white wine. It was fragrant and deliciously refreshing, like a lighter, more summery version of a kir. I moved-on to a tasty and filling goats cheese salad, served in a superfine pastry basket (akin to the finest filo pastry). I'm not renowned for having a huge lunch appetite but I relished each mouthful and cleared my plate (aside from the couple of tastes speared by my companion). We then shared a bowl filled with a couple of flavours of sumptuously smooth and unctuous ice-cream, followed by a restorative coffee. The small hotel on-site has a surprisingly modest two stars; although I can't vouch for whether the rooms surpass this rating, as we only indulged ourselves by spending time on the terrace. If you are visiting this lovely spot, don't miss-out on a wander through the village square and surroundings combined with a drive to take-in and admire the breathtaking beauty and serenity of the nearby Lac de Saint Croix.

Yelp
We stopped here for an excellent and luxuriously long lunch. Our server was easily the best in Europe in many years of travel. He was completely fluent in Dutch (native from Den Haag). French, English, and German. He covered the whole patio by himself and was fun and professional. Just a treat to watch him in action. The food was great as was the beautiful hotel and patio. It took a couple of hours and was really one of the highlights in a few trips to France and Germany. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Great place set in the heart of Aups Village and ideally situated nearby the Gorges du Verdon and Ste Croix Lake. Provencal and traditional food with a hint of creativity at very affordable rates, friendly staff and owners, charm and authenticity of both hotel and restaurant; peaceful shaded patio, the perfect spot to unwind.
