"Tucked away in the heart of the countryside, chef Florent Ladeyn, an ecological champion from the word go, is a standard-bearer of authentic Flemish fare steeped in gourmet flavours, albeit with a creative, instinctive spin. In a dining room, refurbished from top to toe with exposed rafters and overlooking the West Flanders hillsides, the chef unveils his passion for ember roasting, which he carries out in front of diners. Firmly committed to local produce, he strews his creations with flowers and plants from the region. And while his Maroilles fries covered with a thin layer of caramelised onion has attained almost legendary status, we highly recommend his “blind” menu, which has to be for everyone at the table, rich in gourmet delights!" - Michelin Inspector

When you pull in with the car and see lovely sheeps and ducks in front of the restaurant calmly grazing the grass you get the impression that you will eat good wholesome food. Place is a minimalistic barn style. All good until we come to the food. The food is a JOKE. Pay attention to the pictures posted. Main meal is 1 sliver of meat. Next dish is a tiny bowl of fries. I mean this place for a one Michelin star is a ripoff and utter failure. Last night we went to Purete restaurant also 1 star Michelin and there is no comparison. This is a mediocre at best restaurant but not on par with the Michelin standards. This was an insult to other establishments that are working hard and do a wonderful job. Please keep your money and spare yourself of royal misery. This is PURE disappointment and joke on EVERY conceivable level. Wine pairing don't even get me started. This was the worst Michelin experience ever. Mine as well ask them where to go for a burger and a pint of beer after the whole pretend show is over. Oh, and of course chef was nowhere near the establishment. I genuinely hope that will be stripped of this one star they are profiting from long gone glory.

Nice and friendly service, surroundings overrated. Dishes disappointing, cuisine is extreme and really too rough. Not my kind of thing, anyway. Wine choices bizarre and extreme, can't recommend. Not inexpensive, 100€+ per person. One Michelin star, I don't see what justifies it. For extreme amateurs only.

Absolutely loved our visit here, the food was sensational and really interesting being all seasonal and local, with lots of it cooked over the wood fire. The setting was beautiful with panoramic views and the staff excellent! Totally recommend visiting this restaurant!

This review is for the restaurant/dining aspect of the guesthouse. For the lodging aspect, do check out the review on the other Googlemap listing. They only have a tasting menu, with beverage pairing and optional add-on for an extra dish. If you are there for only one meal, I would highly recommend you to go for the full works! I had the fortune of dining there for two consecutive evenings, so I went for the full works for the first night and then just the basic tasting menu for the second. I really appreciate the team for providing a very interesting non-alcoholic beverage pairing due to my allergy, as well as to change most of the item menus for my second night, so that I did not eat the same things again. I felt like I had a totally new menu. The cuisine for me was innovative and places a lot of emphasis on the ingredients themselves, where they came from and how best to showcase them. In absence of some commonly used ingredients (e.g. pepper, because they are not locally produced in the region), the flavours of the dishes were never compromised, but instead allowed to come to the foreground. This allowed me to view the ingredients in a whole new light and savour their 'original' flavours. The interiors and ambience were welcoming and cosy. This was further accentuated by the service team, who were friendly and attentive. They were also ready to explain the dishes in English when they realised that my dining partner could not understand French. When one of the service staff did not realise that, she hurriedly came back to our table to re-explain in English when one of her colleagues told her that not everyone understood French at our table. Overall a great dining experience.

Amazing views in the daytime, really impressive price/quality ratio. Really great food, creative and showcases local terroir. Friendly service and an impressively comfortable restaurant to go too when you have small children, children menus are available and you feel welcome with children. Been many times and really like it

We stayed here to be close to Ypres as we were planning a visit to the battlefields of Somme, and this hotel was very close by. When we arrived the place was completely full of cars, double parked up the road, on the grass in front of the hotel. We found out there was a festival going on to celebrate the restaurant being awarded a Michelin star, which of course is excellent! We eventually managed to find the owner amongst the crowds and he showed us to our room, which was in the roof space (room 7). It was a pleasant good sized room, but unfortunately the smell from the bathroom was very disturbing. We put this down to the drains, as it became significant worse of running the water in the sink and flushing the loo! There was no window in the bathroom, which didn't help! The shower head holder was broken, so you had to hold the shower in your hand whilst showering!! The shelf over the sink was hanging on by the last screw, so if you put anything on it, it fell into sink.... The TV also failed to work, even after changing batteries in the remote etc.... ||||Unfortunately sleep was hard to get due to loud music from the hotel, and I think it was alomost 2.30am before the noise abated slightly.||||Breakfast however was excellent. Good choice of cheese, bread, jams etc.... Very nice start to the day. We did mention the smell of the drains to the owner along the problems with the tv. He basically replied with "I know" !! Not too sure why he doesn't get the problems sorted if he knows! Its a shame, because otherwise the hotel is very nice, but this smell really does let the place down.

The most wonderful evening. Everything about tonight was special. The went for the full experience with wine. So so many wonderful surprises. I would list them but that would spoil the fun. The staff were so happy and relaxed. They all new there stuff. I will never forget this evening

Although in France the view from our room was overlooking Belgium, particularly Poperinge. The hotel set in countryside is easy to find, just south of the village of Boeshepe, less than a half hour from Dunkerque. We were offered a choice of rooms on arrival. Either room would have been suitable. Each room has its own unique style and is "typically French" in style. A large parking area and seating outside at the rear and side of the restraunt for those warm sunny evenings. The view to the north was stunning with views as far as Dunkerque. A small pond provides for a solitary swan and several geese, all of which were quite during the night, resulting in a sound sleep.||The restraunt, in which the menu is changed weekly, is very comfortable. A list of suppliers to the restraunt is provided and the menu handwritten. Presentation of the meals was very interesting, on this occasion, a lot of slate was used to great effect enhancing the dining experience. It would certainly encourage me to return.||Breakfast was the normal formula, which one would expect in France, and adequate for my tastes.
