Lore Ttipia - Auberge Ostape

"This elegant restaurant is nestled in a noble 17C house that stands on a gorgeous bucolic estate on the heights of Bidarray and Itxassou. With a predilection for ember-cooked dishes, the chef has a delightful take on the gastronomy of the Navarre, preparing recipes that are so many variations on terrific local produce. It is the perfect fit for the grandiose backdrop of the Basque countryside, which you can admire from the magnificent panoramic terrace." - Michelin Inspector

Auberge Ostape, near Bidarray, French Basque Country - Explore & Book

"In the rolling foothills of the Pyrenees looking out across the Nive valley, secreted away amongst a 45-hectare estate of meadows and forest, Ostapé’s location could scarcely be more Arcadian. Your return to nature begins right at the entrance of the estate, where you exchange your car for an electric golf buggy. Then you’re away, purring up hill to a group of traditional Navarrese buildings, which fan out around the original farmhouse. And the sublime surprises don’t stop coming. The first will be your suite, which will be regal in size and furnishings. Next comes the food - you’re in for a gourmet extravaganza - and lastly there’s the sheer beauty of the surrounding countryside, unsullied by the whine of car engines. Ostapé waves goodbye to the mundane, offers blissful respite for body and mind, and would be a great choice for one of life’s most special celebrations, such as a honeymoon or wedding anniversary. Highs Some of the best food in the south west of France, with service to match Superbly comfortable suites with everything you could wish for In spite of the remote mountain location you’re an easy drive from the Atlantic coast beaches Fabulous walking on little-known trails The serenity and beauty of this corner of the Basque Country is hard to match Lows A stay at Ostapé will make a sizeable dent in your bank balance If you want to eat out, you'll have to drive Having to motor about in your electric golf buggy could be less fun in wet weather Once you're here, you won't want to leave" - Guy Hunter Watts

Overrated high end bed and breakfast. Not a 5* Hotel as being sold. Seriously understaffed. Location is great (if good weather) but isolated and you are locked in the property, waiting for a "gastronomy" that is not present. Restaurant is supposed to have 1 *. Based on the bistro menu, very happy not to have tried it.

The location is stunning and the staff are attentive. However, our room and what we saw of the wider site felt like it needed a bit of TLC / not 5-star at present

The restaurant was a little quiet for me, but the rooms were amazing and the atmosphere was serene. The rooms are so beautiful and private. At the top of a secluded winding road, you come to a gate, once inside, you park and are given a golf cart for the rest of your stay to get around. It's quite an amazing place. From the restaurant and pool patio you have a beautiful view of the rolling Pyranese mountains.

Very lovely hotel. Great food. However, we had no consistent hot water for several days. Was very disappointing

5stars for hotel, it is exceptional, peaceful, excellent staff assistance nice facilities, remote. 3.5 for restaurant, dont get me wrong, it is good, but I am being critical, it just doesn't quite hit the level it aspires to be at.

Located on a countryside hill, with golf cart driving to get around. Large bed rooms, cozy bar, sitting rooms, casual dining room, spectacular deck, large swimming pool.
