"A couple of industry professionals is at the helm of this contemporary-style restaurant nestling on the banks of the River Dordogne, which is visible just outside the picture windows. The menu includes a number of dishes in which chef Thomas L'Hérisson accurately combines ingredients in a modern and somewhat creative style. The salmon confit with dill yoghurt, green aniseed baby turnips and vinegar-preserved mushrooms, or the veal sweetbreads marinated in miso, floured and fried, soy sauce beetroot and artichokes are the perfect reflection of the chef's personality. The fine wine list – with some 550 labels – has something for everyone. Manuela, the obliging hostess, lavishes diners with attentive service." - Michelin Inspector

We came here based on the Michelin Guide. And it did not disappoint in the slightest. The owner/operator first greeted us at the entrance. She was busy on the phone but hey she’s running a business! So no issues with that. The decor and ambience was beautiful. Then we were seated with a beautiful view and treated amazingly by the owner. The service really felt personal. The food. Wow. The food. Everything was amazing. I really do mean everything. A few standout points. The butter was exquisite. The mini pizza actually tasted like a pizza it was unreal. But the cheese board. Omg the smell. Outstanding. The presentation. Second to none. And the wine. Perfect for our meal. We really do hope to return one day from England. Fingers crossed.

Saint-Jean-de-Blaignac is a village of 450 souls, yet here you find one of Nouvelle-Aquitaine’s finest tables. L’Auberge Saint-Jean holds its Michelin star not in spite of its rural setting but because of it: terroir flows through every plate and every view of the Dordogne from the dining room. We chose Eaux et Berges: amuses of seafood, croquette, pissaladière and salmon tartare; asparagus with lardo and wild garlic; John Dory with artichokes, cockles and bonito; a chariot of cheeses; strawberries reimagined as art; and raspberry mignardises. The sommelier’s pairings were revelations of the sublime. Finesse without pretension, L’Auberge's approach is rooted in the provenance of place.

I have been to Auberge several times over the last eight years and am always impressed. This chef understands his ingredients and how to bring each element to its highest potential. From the moment you are welcomed into the beautiful restaurant, your dining experience begins and despite having returned frequently, the menu always delights with new inspiration. Wine pairing suggestions by owner Manuela are on point and when you go - I highly recommend the pigeon, which is a specialty of Chef Thomas - you will not regret it!

Trying to be as objective and helpful as possible. The food is phenomenal. The service is personal. It means it is performed by a small staff, which I thought was a plus. The restaurant is small and quiet, which depending on your mood could be a plus or a minus. On this particular evening my wife and I went and the vibe was exactly what we needed. Edit/update: after spending 4 days in Saint-Emilion area, I can say this is the best place we had dinner at.

We had an excellent lunch. The food was interesting, imaginative and superbly cooked. The service was exceptional, professional but also warm and welcoming. It is also excellent value for money and we will definitely return.

This restaurant is absolutely fabulous and we were surprised it is not a Michelin star. Had the 5 course tasting menu and one dish was better than the next. The service was impeccable supervised by the chef’s wife. Met the chef and he was very gracious. Overall a wonderful experience and worth the expense which was very reasonable considering the meal was up there, with the best restaurants of the world. A must if you’re in the area.

A perfectly tranquil example of an excellent provincial French restaurant.

Yelp
A very beautiful fine dining restaurant. Food and service were top notch. A great wine list with a large selection of local wines and a section of wines from Bordeaux and Burgundy. Parking is tough but the staff will help with suggestions.

Yelp
In July 2012, I decided to come here for dinner after a day's trekking in the St. Emilion vineyards (short drive) and was delightfully surprised. The waitstaff was excellent and had lots of experience in working at fine dining locations on an international level. I had extremely good recommendations for my meal, and wine pairings, thanks to him. The details and the ingredients of the food are of high quality - portions are good for a Michelin type dining. The ingredients are carefully selected locally. My favorite surprise was the duck tar tar which was also nicely presented (like all the other foods - attentive to detail and great blending of taste and colors). The atmosphere has a very nice lush feeling - every table has views of the Dordogne river. This place is run with love! It is run by a couple, Manuela and Thomas. Thomas, the chef, is very passionate about food and his work - which you can see, taste and 'feel' in the courses served to you. Manuela manages the business. They have fine dining (Michelin rated) experience in Paris and relocated here to St Jean de Blaignac for a nice country side living to fulfill their dream to own their own fine dining restaurant while raising their child in a beautiful environment. http://www.aubergesaintjean.com/ Also worth mentioning is to stay at the wonderful Chateau de Courtebotte (a five minute walk) also with a view of the Dordogne, run by Isabelle who has a great story to tell of how she got involved in running a chateau. I would highly recommend to dine here and stay at the Chateau de Courtebotte, a short 10 minute scenic drive to the St. Emilion vineyards.

Yelp
One of my favorite restaurants in the area. Never disappointed by their menu. Beautiful view with amazing food, it will always be my first choice for lunch in this neighborhood.
