Turkish Feast Newcomer Turquaz Opens in San Francisco’s SoMa Neighborhood | Eater SF

"A big undertaking from the team behind Redwood City’s Selby’s and San Francisco’s Spruce opened on Santana Row on Thursday, March 13 and includes an upscale restaurant, bar, cafe, and a "secretive private events space;" the menu will skew French and Italian under executive chef Mark Sullivan, per the San Francisco Chronicle." - Paolo Bicchieri

Augustine at Santana Row delivers on all fronts. The interiors are wonderful, stylish, warm, inviting and set the perfect tone for a relaxed yet elevated dining experience. We were also told that parts of the menu are seasonal, which keeps things fresh and interesting and gives you a reason to keep coming back. Grecia D was our host, and she was absolutely amazing, attentive, knowledgeable, and perfectly paced throughout the meal. Her service truly elevated the experience. We ordered the following items: Crab Donuts – crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and packed with flavor Tuna Crudo – unbelievably fresh, clean, and vibrant; easily one of the highlights of the night Hokkaido Scallops – beautifully cooked, tender, and delicate Grilled Baja Prawns – flavorful, juicy, and perfectly grilled Roasted Snap Peas – fresh, bright, and a great complement to the seafood Monterey Bay Calamari – tender, light, and very well executed. We definitely loved the end result and presentation. To finish, we enjoyed a decaf coffee alongside desserts: Basque Cheesecake – rich, creamy, and indulgent Blueberry Flan – light, smooth, and a perfect sweet ending Every dish was fresh, thoughtfully prepared, and beautifully presented and overall it makes Augustine, a fantastic addition to Santana Row. Highly recommend!!!

We had an incredible experience at this modern and welcoming restaurant. The wine collection was outstanding, and all of the drinks were on point. The food was just as impressive — we enjoyed a super fresh salad, delicious caviar and perfectly cooked chicken sticks, and some amazing seafood dishes. Everything tasted high-quality and well-prepared. The atmosphere is stylish and modern, and the service was warm, attentive, and very professional. Overall, a fantastic dining experience. Highly recommended!

We had our ladies lunch here with our dog & cat, so, of course we sat outside. While it was windy, the heaters definitely helped. The ambiance of the place is calm and classy! As for food, we got the Flatbread and Green Salad to start with - the roasted tomato spread for the Flatbread was so good! For the main, we got the Burger, Salmon, and Clam Cavetelli. The fries for the burger were extra crispy as we requested but salted when we specifically asked for no salt. The Salmon was medium inside, which the other ladies wanted well done so the kitchen was happy to redo it. The pasta was al dente and yummy. The service was good - I wanted to pay so he helped to play it off and let me do that. Thank you, Augustine!

🍽️ Outstanding Food Augustine in San Jose’s Santana Row is a destination that truly delivers on the plate. The food was absolutely delicious. Every dish we tried felt thoughtfully prepared, with flavors that were bold, balanced, and memorable. From the appetizers to the mains, the kitchen is clearly operating at a high level, making it a great choice for foodies who prioritize taste above all else. If you are looking for a meal that hits all the right notes in terms of gastronomy, the food quality here makes the visit worth it. 💰 High Price Points vs. Service Expectations While the culinary side of the experience was a hit, the value proposition is a bit more complicated. The prices were kind of high, which is somewhat expected for the Santana Row area, but those prices usually come with a certain expectation of premium service. Unfortunately, the service was just meh. It wasn't necessarily terrible, but it lacked the polish, warmth, and attentiveness you would expect when you are paying top-tier prices. For a restaurant of this caliber, you want to feel taken care of, and the middle-of-the-road service we received created a bit of a disconnect between the bill and the overall experience. 🍷 Atmosphere and Vibe at Santana Row Being located in Santana Row, Augustine benefits from a fantastic, upscale atmosphere. It’s a great spot for people-watching and enjoying the vibrant energy of San Jose’s premier shopping and dining destination. Great for Foodies: The menu offers sophisticated options that are perfect for a special dinner where the meal is the main event. Service Gaps: We noticed long gaps between check-ins, and the staff didn't seem as engaged or knowledgeable as you'd hope for at this price point. Vibrant Setting: The decor and seating are stylish, making it a visually pleasing place to dine, even if the hospitality doesn't quite match the aesthetic yet. 👍 Final Verdict: Worth It for the Flavors I am giving Augustine 4 stars. Even though the service was underwhelming, the superb food quality carries the experience. It isn't a "bad" experience by any stretch, but there is definitely room for the front-of-house team to improve their timing and engagement to match the excellence coming out of the kitchen. If you don't mind a bit of a wait or "meh" service in exchange for a fantastic meal, then Augustine is absolutely worth the trip. Just go in with managed expectations regarding the staff, and you'll have a great time focusing on the delicious food.

We got here at 9am for brunch, but the restaurant doesn't open until 10, so we opted for the Café Augustine next door instead. Such a cute little shop with simple, but fresh and delicious pastries. The drink menu was small, but tasty and pretty presentation. Staff are friendly and coordinated. Definitely recommended for a quick meet-up with friends.

My friend made reservations for 6 at 630 on a Thursday evening. It was a nice day so she requested outside. Our waiter asked us if we wanted drinks, he seemed busy so we never got his name. We waited awhile to be able to order our food. We had crab cakes, scallops, fish, french fries with truffle, veggie tart and a hamburger. Our favorites were the burger and fries. The burger was well cooked and the fries were crispy. The crab cake had a fishy taste and we requested lemon for it. The tart was a little too crispy and made it hard to bite, good flavor though. The scallops and fish were pretty tasty, I am glad we requested more lemon. Service was efficient.

If you’re looking for a brunch spot in Santana Row that feels like it was flown straight out of Beverly Hills, this is it. From the moment you walk in, the ambiance is elevated yet welcoming—modern décor with a touch of glam that makes you feel like you’re in Los Angeles’ most exclusive dining scene. The service is truly five-star. Every detail is thought of, from the warm greeting at the door to the seamless attention throughout the meal. You don’t feel rushed, just genuinely cared for. The brunch menu is equally impressive—fresh, beautifully presented, and packed with flavor. Every dish feels crafted, not just made. Think avocado toast elevated to art, perfectly poached eggs, decadent pastries, and cocktails that look as good as they taste. This isn’t your casual weekend spot—it’s an experience. Whether you’re celebrating, impressing out-of-town friends, or simply want to treat yourself, this restaurant raises the bar for brunch in Silicon Valley. It’s the kind of place where you sip a mimosa and forget you’re in San Jose—suddenly, you’re on Rodeo Drive.

Wow! I’d just walked by Augustine in the past. Was given a gift card. It’s so relaxing on the front patio. The food is good and it was among the very best service I’ve had. They brought me three iced teas one after the other, without me asking. A one hour brunch felt like a mini vacation. I would go back, it was a treat.
