"Aunglo presents modern Thai fare inspired by street food culture using an ancient Thai charcoal stove, or aunglo. Presented in a Japanese izakaya style, the counter bar faces an open kitchen with more seating upstairs, suitable for private or group dining. The menu is composed of small dishes, skewers and a few desserts. And the savoury dishes are mostly cooked on the charcoal flame, so a smoky aroma accompanies the intense Thai flavours, herbs and spices." - Michelin Inspector

quality modern thai food without breaking the bank - definitely put this on your itinerary! i think they are better known for their open flame grill and thai street food - jap izakaya fushion skewers? i definitely preferred the chicken skewers (esp the boneless chicken wing with yuzu kosho) over their signature moo peng actually. don't skip the other dishes too. the shrimp on coconut pancake appetiser was TO DIE FOR. mochi-textured dense pancake with strong gula melaka and kaya fragrance. odd combination with shrimp but it worked so well! the kailan cooked with prawn paste (har cheong sauce) was super yummy too! why has no one thought of using prawn paste instead of oyster sauce to dress vegetables all this time? the pork ribs was on almost every table, so we got one to try too. it was fork tender and really yummy but leans on the salty side, so pair it with the pickled lettuce to cut thru the salt. pomelo and shrimp salad was alright, but the least impressive of the dishes we tried. P.S. i counted 6 aircon units for a relatlively small dining space. be warned it was very cold and draughty which marred my experience ever so slightly

Creative Thai Izakaya dining. The seafood is exceptionally fresh, and every dish we tried was full of flavor. The shrimp pancake is a must-try (we order two times!) — crispy, savory, and absolutely delicious. Even the simple fried rice stood out, showing how much care they put into every plate. To finish, we had dessert, which was not only delicious but also felt unique and exotic — the perfect ending to a wonderful meal. Honestly, we loved everything we tried here. Highly recommended

Google
Michelin bib gourmand spot. Came by during lunchtime on a Saturday with reservation but while the place was packed there were still some seats available. We ordered most of the items (menu wasn’t the biggest). The moo ping was great with a nice char. Actually pretty much most of the dishes had a nice char since it’s cooked over open fire. Worth a try.

I was surprised to see this restaurant on the Michelin Guide. The food was quite average, leaning more towards casual bar fare than something special. I didn’t try the beer, which may be a highlight, but food-wise nothing stood out. The location is not very convenient — quite far from public transport and outside the main city areas. I personally wouldn’t travel out of the way just to dine here, though if you’re nearby and there’s no queue, it could be worth a stop. The concept also felt a little unclear. It didn’t seem to follow a particular cuisine or theme, which made the dining experience somewhat confusing. Their skewers appear to be a specialty, and while decent, they weren’t remarkable. Service was also just very average — not terrible, but certainly not what you would expect from a place recognized by Michelin. Overall, it was fine but not memorable, and for me it didn’t quite live up to the Michelin recognition in a city with so many excellent dining choices.

Insane flavours on almost every dish. But the service was one of the worst I’ve ever encountered. Water wasn’t refilled and the table wasn’t wiped in between dishes. Napkins weren’t refreshed. When asked to change out a used plate, the server only swapped out one person’s plate and left the other person with a used plate. The food was tasty, but the service was very poor.

I had dinner at this restaurant. The space is spacious and the staff were friendly. Unfortunately, the food did not meet my expectations. I ordered four dishes (as shown in the picture), but the Mooping and Chinese BBQ Pork were overcooked and quite burnt. Considering the price, I was hoping for a more enjoyable dining experience, but it fell short of my expectations.

We walked in, and waited 10 minutes before being seated at the counter. It was a great experience all the food was great. The key standouts for us were the ribs, the prawn on top of the sticky rice, the mooping skewer, and the chicken skewer. Very interesting take on Thai food overall would recommend to try!

Walked in and thankfully there were seats available at 2020+. Their grilled items were great, especially the pork belly. The counter seats allow patrons to feel the open fire, which they used. Special mention to their appetisers especially the crab one. It was a good blend of flavours. -2 stars because I noticed that the two staff near the casher / beer dispenser kept playing with their dog. I guess they are the owners. They also help in serving food and I don’t see them washing their hands after touching it every time. Not a nice look given that there is a rabies alert in Bangkok right now.
