My husband and I travel to his hometown and every time Aunnys is a must . We’ve been dining with them for 16yrs. Great soul food ! Not over seasoned. The portions are good . The price is right and the customer service excellent. Don’t forget the homemade desserts baked by her very personable mother!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

I'm forced to give a 1 on food due the tiny portion of fried chicken. That was supposed to be a breast and a wing. Barely any white meat at all. Basically the wing and rib. It was seasoned well. The Mac and cheese was ok. Noodles were overcooked and a bit mushy. The collards had a real sweet flavor which I am not used to. My date had the BBQ chicken and it tasted great, and the okra was just like my Mama's. Revelation is awesome!! She was very attentive to our needs. Also very patient as we took up the table for an extended period of time.

What a perfect hidden gem we found. I ordered the shrimp and grits (sautéed shrimp over grits, topped with brown gravy). The star of this dish was, by far, the unbelievably creamy grits. So smooth and velvety, I could’ve eating them with nothing on top!! The ambiance was perfect and our waitress, Revelation, was kind and attentive! I highly suggest this restaurant!!

My husband and I visited on the way to MUSC. I was scheduled for my first spinal tap and was anxious about it. Diamond treated us like family. My corned beef hash was absolutely delicious so I wanted to tell Aunny in person. As I begin to share with her, some inspirational gospel music came on in the restaurant. It really encouraged me. I knew then I wasn’t there by mistake. As I shared with Aunny tearfully, she said she wanted to pray for me. She prayed over me and a Peace came over me. The spirit of the Lord was in that place. Thank you, Aunny, my sister in Christ. It was divine intervention for me to visit you that day. Bless you and your business and thank you for praying for me that day. I went in for a great meal and came out with a peace that I can’t even explain. Thank you, Lord!

My wife and I are visiting Georgetown and stopped here for lunch! We had the tilapia poboy which was great. It came with fries and we had sweet tea! Our server Revelation did a great job and was very friendly!

Google
The food and service was excellent. We drove 1-1/2 hours to get there and it was well worth the drive. They made us feel at home. The down home cooking and Mama Jeans delicious desserts take you back in time to Grandma's house!

My son and I had the best time here! Immediately welcomed and taken care of. The waitress had such warm welcoming energy! I was there for lunch, but she got me a hot coffee anyway. The food was great, my son raved about it!! The place is homey and clean, with good southern food and great prices!

Google
One of the best soul food experiences I’ve ever had! Aunny’s Country Kitchen serves up comfort on a plate — every bite was flavorful, hearty, and made with love. The fried chicken was perfectly seasoned, the mac and cheese was creamy and rich, and the cornbread? Absolutely unforgettable. A special shoutout to the hostess, Kristin, she was amazing! So warm, welcoming, and attentive. She made us feel like family the moment we walked through the door. Can’t wait to come back again soon!

Yelp
We really enjoyed our meals. Great service, not a long wait, hot food. If you want a home cooked meal, try it out.

Yelp
While in Georgetown to visit the Gullah Museum-my husband and I took the opportunity to stroll the cute and quaint downtown area. That's when we stumbled upon this local gem. We had a very cool server who I think is the owners niece. (I think Diamond was her name) At a rate-we enjoyed the witty conversations between the staff-they are a family! The food was-for the most part-solid. The sweet potato pie!!! I was not a fan of the fried corn on the cob. Get the pie for sure.

Yelp
We met up with our 90 year old dad and his wife at Aunnys. It felt like an episode of kitchen rescue upon entry, as the dining area is old and very low seated booths. It lacks atmosphere, to say the least. The staff is so very nice and seemed to be praying for us to stay, as we were the only patrons in the place. We read the choices from a black board and all ordered different meals. Overall, the shrimp and grits were hot and tasty, but if one didn't check for tails? You could definitely choke . The rice was dry, the chicken was weird and the sides collectively seemed left over and just wrong. I wish I didn't feel this way because the staff was kind. Aunny's needs a make over, and maybe a whole new cookbook? It made me sad for her. We will never go back... sorry Aunny... I think we met you on the way out the door, along with staff standing around smoking cigs?

Yelp
The food was sooo good! Incredible sides! The workers were so sweet and so kind. This food is fresh so don't expect to order and have your food in seconds. Its vibe is classic southern dinner almost. I highly recommend

Yelp
Fast forward to March 2025 we're back. Same good food new plates. Just like they told Mikey "try it,you'll like it"

Yelp
The food from our To Go order was terrible. I traveled to SC looking for soul food and I remembered enjoying Aunny's with my husband years ago. Yesterday, I was extremely disappointed. The chicken Perlou rice had a foul smell and I wasn't sure if it was spoiled but parts were sticky-ish as per my husband. The turkey wings could have used some more seasonings. The yams were great. The service was fast and the cost was reasonable. I would have gone back for my money but it would have been too far of a drive. Not sure if they have new cooks but I was beyond disheartened on a Thursday afternoon.

Yelp
Very, very limited menu. Never had a Denver omelette with sausage and bacon. Other guest could even get a muffin or roll to eat

Tom P.

Yelp
Super cute joint in downtown area. Menu is written on the wall. Southern charm pours out of the waitstaff. Lunch was approximately $11 dollars for chicken leg/thigh piece, rice and gravy, and green beans with a corn muffin. Just enough to fill you up. Variety of pies and cakes for dessert.

Yelp
Good soul food and the cooks know what they are doing! Seasonings are right on and President Obama liked it.

Yelp
Service was great, food was delicious. Everyone was friendly, even the customers! A definite return trip is in my future!

Yelp
Recommended by the Gullah Gullah Museum! Food: The food was delicious. Eight to my dining party and each enjoyed their meal plus dessert. I had the meal in the picture and I was happy! Cooked right, seasoned well, and served fresh and hot! My husband had the Banana Pudding and said it's the best he's had in a long time. I had the Upside Down Pineapple Cake and it was nice and airy! Service: Service was good! A little slower than larger restaurants but the wait was worth the fresh tasting food! Ambiance: Very homey feeling. Overall, this is on my list of places to return to the next time I'm in SC! Go visit, it's worth it!!!

Yelp
Eight of us dropped in from Myrtle Beach and had the best meal. We came in at odd time and some items were sold out, but the service was excellent, the food was excellent, and I really can't wait to eat there again. I'm not sure if I've ever been personally greeted by the owner in the cook in a restaurant before. This is small town food at its best! We had so much fun!

Yelp
This is place was recommended by a local tour guide. The soul food was very tasty. It is the typical soul food but cooked well. We were both happy with our meals. However, the tour guide said it would by Gullah food, so we were supposed that it is the traditional soul food. We had other expectations, but nevertheless, our bellies were full and we were happy.

Yelp
Good stick your bonez true southern soul food. You know you in the south when you can get pig feet rice which is delish by the way LOL! We have spotted this place a few times when we are visiting nearby in Pawleys and finally decided to try it. It's a humble family owned spot that definitely sticks to the basics. No frills; no high upscale; no formality whatsoever but it's not why you come. Me n the hubby both tried their fried dark chicken with 3 sides! Mine - tomato okra stew; green Lima beans and yeah the pig feet rice. It was all good my cornbread muffin was actad over cooked but still tasty. The hubby's sides were yellow rice; speckled limas (we had never heard of this variety) and cabbage - he found the cabbage slightly sweeter than he prefers but enjoyed it overall. The only reason we didn't give it 5 stars is the service was hit or miss! First we were told the lady was taking our order cuz no one else had time to - she forgot her order pad so only took drink orders which she confirmed twice after leaving our table cuz she kept forgetting; then while confirming our sides she mentioned white meat and we were like no we ordered dark meat then my hubby asked for the brown gravy on the side guess what he never got the brown gravy - we mentioned the dessert we wanted to this same lady and kept waiting then a different lady advised us we pay at the register then roughly said "do y'all want something else?" To which we advised we had earlier told the other lady our dessert order - oh and by the way a 3rd person served us our meal n dessert ‍ The main lady was likable and friendly but consistently kept forgetting this or that about our order Tip - if you go late in the day you will find they have sold out of a good bit - we only had chicken or chops as meat options but that was okay

Yelp
I walked out of 2 other restaurants down the street as I waited over 10 minutes at each place and no one even talked to me except another waiting customer. Anywho....so unbelievably happy their service was lousy. Aunny's was AWESOME. Aunny took my order thru the kitchen window. I told her to make me whatever is best. She served me Oxtail with rice, stewed tomatoes, sweet potatoes and cornbread. I was giggling the whole time it was so good. The gravy is absolutely the best beef gravy anywhere-EVER.

Yelp
The best country cooking! We drive from Charleston just to come get this amazing food!!

Gigi S.

Yelp
We had breakfast, eggs pancakes smoked sausage grits and toast. Everything tasted really good. Quick and attentive service. My only complaint was they had gone up a little on their prices from what the menu said. Otherwise a great place for country cooking.

Yelp
Food is hot & good BUT decor is tired. This place needs a make over & the owner should be ashamed having a business looking like something from the 70s. Eating off cheap styrofoam plates & using crappy utensils is a travesty. The business needs a make over with training & education about hospitality hand washing & customer service.

Yelp
My wife and I were looking for some good, home cooked breakfast so we recently tried out Aunny's! We were immediately welcomed and sat down in a booth. Our waitress quickly brought us menus and took our drink order! We both ordered coffee and water. My wife asked for half and half. The coffee came and we ordered our meals but no half and half. I ordered 2 scrambled eggs, grits and sausage with a side of white toast. My wife ordered the veggie omelet with grits. We flagged down another waitress for the half and half because our waitress was on her phone. Then our waitress came back over and asked to take our order! She clearly was not paying attention and we explained that we'd already ordered and she laughed and walked away. Still no water. Then our order showed up. The grits were very good. The sausage and the veggie omelet were good too! The eggs were cold. I flagged down the other waitress to see where my toast was and she brought it over. It was cold and the butter didn't even melt! A little focus and attention by the wait staff would have improved our visit. Not sure we'll be back!

Yelp
My wife and I go to Georgetown at least. Every other month just to eat at Aunnys. Great food great service still reasonable prices.

Yelp
Excellent food! We had shrimp plate with Mac cheese, fried okra and cabbage. Cleaned our plates. But the corn muffins were absolutely delicious. If we are in the area again, Aunny's will be a repeat visit. Wish we would have tried the desserts.

Jack N.

Yelp
Horrible service, an hour to get a cup of coffee, more for the food. More like a clown car than a restaurant

Yelp
Stopped for a late breakfast on our way down to Charleston . We sat outside on a perfect day in spring chairs ( so retro) and enjoyed the breeze and warm weather. The veggie omelet was good with tomatoes and peppers & onions. The shrimp and grits was a surprise... w/ fried shrimp! The grits ere perfect though! Service was pleasant and friendly. I'd come back. Bill was ~$20.

Cindy R.

Yelp
It took 45 minutes to get coffee and water, over an hour to get food. The place only has 12-14 small tables, so not huge. One table got their food ahead of 3 other tables that had gotten there first. The food was not good, other than the grits. My eggs had been cooked in some sort of breakfast meat grease, so were not edible to me. A server asked if we needed anything else and we said more coffee. She then went to the register and totally forgot about the coffee. Very disorganized and poorly run. Would not recommend at all! Actually would give zero stars if allowed.

Cher J.

Yelp
Aunny's is amazing. The fried chicken is fantastic. It's a gem in Georgetown and prices are very reasonable. We were visiting from San Francisco area and had an amazing lunch.

Captain R.

Yelp
True southern cooking. The service is always good. The entire menu is our favorites! I understand that Ms. Aunny feeds the hungry and homeless at holidays. Even a large photo on the wall of Michelle an Barack can't take away from the great food.
google avatar

Christine R.

Yelp
If you want the best home cooked meal I suggest this place. We have been going there for years. The food is always hot and delicious. She takes the time to talk to you.The staff is great.

Megan F.

Yelp
Took forever to be served half the menu was out of stock , worst service, food was over cooked, couldn't even afford stocked basic condiments, tables and floors were dirty. I was here a year ago they had great food and today food and service completely sucked! Definitely the place to go if u have no taste buds and if u want only an option of salads with out dressing to utilize and basic sandwiches even a kids menu couldn't go further then Fry's and nuggets!

Be M.

Yelp
Went here with a friend visiting and he fell in love with Aunny's. It was very busy. The staff was rushing around and they were very nice about the delay in service. The food was freshly cooked. Hot and really good. We will be going back.

Yelp
I'm from California and I love finding mom & pop type places with authentic Southern Food. This place is legit! The server told us her grandma makes all the pies (wow) and she was a lovely sweet girl-nice people run this place. I wish it wasn't so far from where we are in Myrtle Beach so I could try everything! But I can say everything I had was delish: fried chicken, okra with butter beans, squash casserole (omg SO good). After I posted this pic on FB a friend said she would literally pitch a tent and camp there till she tried every single thing on the menu which I sure wish I could do. Plus I loved the decor--framed photos of Jefferson Davis, alongside Tupac, the Obamas and a wall of fame of celebs that had eaten there including John Lewis!

Yelp
Best Gullah Low Country food and great value! Food is fresh and local and always busy! Terrific service with the most friendly staff! Highly recommended!

Yelp
Decided to try some local food and we're happy we did! The food was good and the service was amazing. BooBoo (Karen) was the friendliest server I have ever had.

Curtis C.

Yelp
The seafood food platter came with over fried oysters that was burnt to a crisp. I will as seated at a dirty table which a motivated young lady came over to clean after my wife and I had received our food. An older gentleman came from the kitchen with his pants draped off his fourth point of contact as if he was in the streets and had the audacity to stare down and flirt with my wife. Which I could have and easily taken this drunker out of his misery. Not to mention, prior to departing the restaurant we paid and left a decent tip. But prior to exiting the door a young lady questioned or asked have we paid. Which, I took offense to her inquire or insult. I'm a retired 5 time combat veteran with over 23 years of service. I've taught a retired from the Fresno Unified School District for over 11 years. as well. I've actually met Mrs. Aunny, on my first visit to her restaurant and she is amazing. But the staff is truly in need of customer service training, professional development and people skills which would definitely add to her wonderful soulful kitchen & restauran. Sincerely, 1SG (R), Curry U.S. Army Airborne Ranger

Yelp
Funky but very good local restaurant. Laid back service. Our group enjoyed fried chicken, fish of the day which was a very good flavor white fish, clam chowder, sides of Mac and cheese, yellow rice, and the home made corn muffins are A+. Shared a slice of lemon pound cake that was the bomb! All and all would recommend for home cooked local cuisine...

Yelp
So for years my wife and I have been traveling from Ohio to Charleston to go to a low country place called Martha Lou's. It was our favorite place to eat. After Covid hit, Martha Lou's closed and we have been looking for our new fav! We found it at Aunny's! The food is amazing! More importantly to us is the staff. The owner came over and sat with us for a while and chatted about family, the restaurant, and other things. Our waitress was engaging, very attentive, and just simply fun. From the great food, wonderful staff, pink walls, styrofoam plates, and pics of the Obamas, Tupac, Elvis, and Fredrick Douglas on the wall we found our new home! This place is a must try - u will fall in love - we did!!
google avatar

Dorothy H.

Yelp
They never disappoint. The food is always hot, filling, and tasty. The service is always welcoming, fast and attentive. The atmosphere is warm. We always try to stop here on our way to the beach for a good home cooked meal. This place is a rare find in today's time where few restaurants offer a vegetable selection. You get three sides and a meat for a very reasonable price. We will continue to keep this on our scheduled stops.

Geraldine B.

Yelp
Food was good Services on scale of 1 to 5 , 5 excellent I would say 4.5 The surrounding was neat and the staff and servers are pleasant and efficient.
google avatar

Kimberly W.

Yelp
Friendly staff. The shrimp and grits were delicious. I thought the omelet was a bit $$$. Coffee is 2.59.
google avatar

Katelynn P.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! I highly recommend eating here! The staff was very friendly and the food came out fast. I had the fried chicken with mac n cheese, broccoli casserole, & rice n gravy! A cornbread muffin comes with it, which was soooo good! Next time I will get extra gravy! It was so good! Very reasonably priced. It's good for a quick Southern Sunday meal. (Yes, this is during the pandemic and everyone was wearing masks)
google avatar

Peta D.

Yelp
Love stopping by when I'm visiting Georgetown. Staff are always so friendly, and the food is always delicious!
google avatar

Madison U.

Yelp
Wow - wow - wow! The best comfort food! I had the Sunday special with bbq chicken, yams, macaroni and cheese, and fried corn
google avatar

Kevin K.

Yelp
Wonderful hone cooking with great southern hospitality! Excellent specials board and the fried chicken is to die for (Get the dark meat)! My wife had lemonade pie for dessert whoch was delicious and then I had the hummingbird cake which was also very delicious!
google avatar

Tricia W.

Yelp
Really good soul food friendly staff also home made desserts, they have all kinds of desserts and food even seafood and steak

Claire B.

Yelp
Aunny's was absolutely delicious!! Our server, Mercy, was so kind and welcoming. The grits were perfect, just like my mother used to make them. Thank you all so much!

Barclay J.

Yelp
We enjoyed a great breakfast this Sunday morning! Sorry no room for the pecan pie! Thanks l

Frank P. W.

Yelp
This review comes with a caveat since we were informed the normal chef had quit a week prior to our visit. 8/14/23 we had breakfast. The meal was to be grits turkey sausage & eggs with cheesh and a side of hash browns. The hash browns were crinkle cut fries cut into bits, the sausage patty was over fried and the toast was hard as a brick. My friend did not like her dish of grits eggs and sausage that she said was overly salty and difficult to cut with the styrofoam plates and plastic cutlery. They could also use an update of the spot itself. Not a recommended place to eat while in SC unless a new chef comes in the mix.
google avatar

Katie G.

Yelp
Aunny's was a delight! We were on a day trip to Charleston from Murrells Inlet and happened to stop by for a quick bite to eat. The sweet tea was divine and the food was delicious. It tasted like my grandma used to make and the recipes are definitely from scratch and not from a box. Definitely hope to get back when I'm back in town visiting my parents.
google avatar

Linda S.

Yelp
This is a great place to stop for lunch. Excellent food, cute decor and the nicest people you could ask for. We stopped for lunch on our way to Wilmington from Charleston and it really hit the spot. From the shrimp and grits to The chicken and waffles and coconut pie everything was great. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

Lori E.

Yelp
Real homemade cooking. Excellent customer service and both meals were unbelievably tasty. We had bbq ribs that just fell off the bone, very moist. Mac and cheese was very good not too cheesy or buttery. Other dish was meat loaf, sweet potato fries, beets and green beans. Green beans had pieces of ham.. Yum to everything. The beets were very delicious, and the meat loaf was perfect. There was no grease, very moist and just delicious. We would highly recommend Aunny's and will come back when we are in the area again. Each dish had corn muffin which tasted excellent
